Sat inside the restaurant, as a family of 4. Food very tasty as usual and efficiently served by Marie, who always gives great service. 👍

Popped in for a chippy tea after our usual chippy was closed. Great chips. Proper tasty chips. No little scrappy chips either just good-sized, tasty chips. The Patty was top-notch as well and as someone not from Hull who's just discovering a patty it was one of the best I've had so far 👍

Very good the staff are very helpful and friendly we will be going back soon highly recommended it

We had a takeaway, tbh I was impressed with the kids meal which came with a sweet, colouring book and crayons...nice added touch

Just had Haddock, chips and mushy peas, totally delicious would highly recommend.

Had a great food from here but tonight was way off. 7.30 pm looked like they were already packing up despite saying it was open until 9 pm on web. Batter on fish was way off, gravy was poured out of a plastic container ( not heated ) , by the time we got home to Ings Road food was cold, not up to the usual high standards

I had been told this is a well rated food establishment and they wasn't wrong ! Staff well presented and very friendly. They knew there food was absolutely spot on, even had the cheek to say you will be back. I asked for haddock skinned and boned and They took the skin off right in front of me I could eat here every day ( diet put a stop to that for a while, maybe a treat/cheat day ) I will be back

Tried the fried fish and pattus, they were crispy and delicious. The owner was warm and friendly and the environment was clean.

I’d go as far to say the best fish and chips I’ve had in the whole of Britain. Called in for lunch whilst working in the area today as it has the convenience of an area with tables for a relaxing sit down to enjoy the fish and chips at its best, plated straight from the fryer. Ordered small fish and chips with mushy peas, which was a surprisingly good size portion. Very friendly atmosphere lots of happy customers coming and going, myself included!

Best fish & chips in Hull. Menu says small fish but portions surprised me with how much you get - for me small was more than enough. Brilliant prices, they run offers quite often, very reasonable. Trumps its rival east park chippy. Highly recommend.

Was sat in yesterday to get some food to eat in - where I was sat I could see inside the kitchen and behind the counter. At one point, there was a female who pulled a piece of machinery out from the wall and started cleaning it with a cloth, the same cloth she then put back in the sink to wash the pots with. This cloth was black when she placed it back in the sink, and I dread to think what was on it. I won’t be returning to this place knowing this is how they value hygiene.

Lovely, believe the hype! In for the weekend from Middlesbrough so checked out Hulls Best Chippy, and Pollard's stood out, so I went. Well presented, red hot and tasty, the staff are superb! So was the food. Thanks ladies!

We went to pollards plaice on 5th September. We found the restaurant spotlessly clean all the staff and owner were very helpful and great fun. The fish and chips that we had were very big portions and it was great that my wife who is a coeliac could have the fish and chips. Thankyou pollards the best fish chips and peas I we have ever had. Got to be the biggest medium haddock I’ve had from any chippy. Food fresh, tasty and well priced.

Great place. But always get home with one of my things I'd ordered missing! Not a big deal as they make up for it next time.

Friendly efficient staff. Big portions. Lovely chunky fish. Chips full of potato, with no burnt/crispy ones, which is usual from other places. My new favourite chippy!

I used to go here a lot. But stopped. Chips always hard n pale. Fish not great batter Rock hard. I gave the place many chances but every time it went in the bin.

Came with my young grandson for gluten free fish and chips, his first since being diagnosed. The welcome, information and service was excellent, quick too and obviously cooked to order. The family special of four (not so small!) fish, pattie bites and accompaniments was superb quality, lightly battered and no grease. First class quality and taste, large portions, great price (no extra for gluten free!) Back soon 👌

Waited ages asked for a spam they forgot it and then gave us all burnt sausages, all pretty gross patty was very wet!

First time I've tried it. I would agree that the food and service were good and the small fish was more than enough.

Awful service. Went a few weeks ago, as part of our order we got battered sausage which we had to wait for(not a problem) while we were waiting on of the servers daughters came in and asked for 2 battered sausages which meant even though ours was nearly ready we then had to wait for another to cook. Our order was wrong twice as the lady was more interested in her daughter than us. We went back last night and as we were placing our order the same lady was was on her own phone and more interested in the call than us. We won't be going back.

Visited after Rate my takeaway review and wasn't disappointed. Very good value for money and the large fish was huge. Perfect fish and chips, couldn't fault at all. Highly recommend.

For the price around £7 fish chips peas sit down eat was the best ever I wish we had 1 in Weston-super-Mare instead of the £15 we have to pay I give this place 10 out of 10

Food was very good, especially the pattie and we really enjoyed our meal. We ate in and used the salt and vinegar supplied, unfortunately the vinegar was very watery. We will be back, but will probably take away.

Only just noticed I had not left a review for Pollards Plaice after coming here for the last year. Really really good fish and chips I wish I lived closer. The quality of the fish is second to none and fried perfectly. The first time I went to Pollards I had my fish and chips wrapped and took it home( see pic Plaice and chips). Now my mouth is watering so much I have it open and eat in the car. They have some really good special offers price wise the last I had was regular fish n chips for a fiver. All portions are generous and the staff are great. Lots of good chippys in Hull I have tried a lot of them, Pollards is not good it's really really good, in fact it's exceptional.

It's a tidy little restaurant with lovely staff and owners. It's very clean. You order at the counter, and they do prefer cash rather than a card. The food is easily the best around. I'm usually not a fan of fish & chips as they get greasy. The batter gets soggy, too, and gets cold quickly. Well, not from here. The food is hot, crisp, and dry. Fabulous, big, thick fillet of fish, nice chunky chips with sauces and extras. The wife had a battered sausage that was really nice, not the usual saveloy style. Kim had a corned beef pattie. This wasn't something I liked, but my wife n kim said it was fantastic. This is the best fish n chipper around. Simple.

very large piece of haddock cooked skin-on ( my preference ) in a lovely, slightly seasoned crispy batter. I went for the small portion of chips and I hate to think what the large portions looked like as I only managed to eat about half my order.

Pollards' place is an excellent fish and chip shop. The food is excellent and the patties are really nice, the fish is cooked to order. The staff are very friendly. There's a nice spacious indoor seating area for dining in and an outside seating area at the front for summer.

If you love fish and chips you will definetly love it here, we visited from BC Canada, everywhere we go we rate fish and chips, this is definetly a 10/10, it was so good we had to go back the next day! Well worth a visit if you are in the area, keep up the great work guys! Liz and Jason Sayer

After a trip to Leeds Bradford Airport and back I dropped family off and was hungry. Passing Pollards I pulled over and got my dinner and heading home it’s smelt good. The service in the shop was manic to say the least, the shop was very clean tho (always good when food is concerned). The staff friendly and all full of smiles and helpful. The food The curry was a little too spicy for me and was like water, I love a good fruity curry. This was not good at all. Yes it’s personal choice and I understand lots of other people would love the curry but for me it was not my thing. The chips were a big let down most were hard and some seemed to be burnt just on the bottom (not sure what that was about). The odd chip was soft and when I got to taste these chips they were really nice soft and fluffy inside but they were far out done by the hard ones. The fish was the hidden gem in this order. I’m not sure how they have made this batter but what ever they have been doing keep doing it. The batter was amazing, it was crisp thick and the taste was to die for. Without a doubt the best batter on a peace of fish I’ve ever had in my life. The fish was perfect soft, full of taste and cooked to perfection.

we travelled from Wakefield and we can say the food was worth the drive. we ordered 3 portions of small fish and chips along with other bits and bats. We were surprised by the portion sizes that managed to out do us. Very tasty fish and chips and very friendly staff. Thank you 😊

What a great find! We were travelling to the ferry and the kids were desperate for to eat. We googled fish and chip restaurants and hit upon Pollards Plaice. Fantastic food - something for everyone. Beautiful fresh fish, amazing chips and brilliant mushy peas. And the staff were wonderful - friendly, efficient and attentive. Love it and can't wait to go back!

Simply the best chippy in Hull, i wanted to say in East Hull, but i think in HULL is more accurate. The fish is fresh, and the batter is well seasoned. The patties are delicious and flavourful, and the chips are fresh and delightful but don't let me forget about the sausage because they are good too. I'm the biggest fussy critic when it comes to food, but let me tell you something.... I've never been disappointed by pollards plaice and i think everyone should try it and see for yourself. just go there, you won't be disappointed 😊

A range of different patties which been a hull person will find a change to the norm. Very friendly staff. Great size portions. And a thing I did notice which goes a long way in my eyes was a elderly lady forgot to order a fishcake after paying a waiting for her order. She then remembered on collection of her order,the gent behind doing the frying got one out wrapped it up an just gave her it for free saying your a regular Love.. Good food A+++

I bought spam fritter, chips and peas - never been to this takeaway chippie before and was certainly surprised; how tasty and steamy hot as I write this review. The mushy peas are very delicious and the spam was made to order, very nicely cooked spam. These chips are certainly tastier and will certainly be using this chippie again. Certainly in my top ten chippie in Hull. Very good service and the atmosphere was really great too. There is a small seating area and you can pay by card too.

My usual chippy was closed, so tried here for the first time. 1st thing to note was the food was cooked in beef dripping which for me was a first. This to me gave the food a bit of an unusual smell however this didn't detract from the taste. The fish was first class and a really good size although they cook with the skin on. Luckily I had noticed so I asked for it to be cooked without. Personal preference whatever takes your fancy! To top it all off (old school), they sell cans of shandy which I'd not had for years! Only scored atmosphere 3 as it was simply standing in a chip shop queue. 👍

Great food! Large portions, fresh fish, all very well cooked. The fish cakes are also highly recommended. Will be coming again for sure!
