Red Sails in Kingston upon Hull, City of

Pleasant, but the bar staff were a bit noisy, The carvery was pleasant, but nothing to write home about, the beef was tastless and very tough, the vegtables were luke warm ( it was a cold day) the sponge pudding was freshely microwaved and literally took the roof of your mouth off and the coffee was luke warm, all in all not worth the thirty pounds for two people, but after all it was just a cheap pub meal.

Came for a lovely Mother’s Day meal and the food was fabulous. Ebony was great :-) x x

Red Sails has tasty food, quick service and loving staff. A good sign is that some days (mostly the Weekend), the pub is very packed, which is a very good sign. Would recommend this if you were going to a pub in Hull.

Went for a meal at Red Sails to day, why we'll you have a choice, carvery or a variety of meals coffee alcoholic drink. Staffs always friendly right across the board. If Sammy sees us entering she puts our coffee on soon as she can now that's service

In general it was good. The Resturante was fairly busy which is a good sign in general. The ordering at the table is a great idea so you don’t have To line up to order. Food came out fairly quickly and was all nice food. The waitress didn’t bring our drinks over with the starter but later came over to apologise as there was a problem with the drink I had ordered so she soon corrected it with another one and our drinks were then delivered. Prices I didn’t think were too bad either and portions were big enough. Service was a bit slow for picking up used plates but they seem to have enough staff to keep asking if everything was ok. That maybe needs switching around a bit. But all in all I would say Good. 👍

Had a lovely meal, carvery was delicious, served by Cory on the carvery, Sammy at the bar, Keisha came to our table and Ebony helped us with our meals! All provided outstanding customer service!! Thank you

Excellent visit, both of us had the carvery and it was very good quality. We had a discount code for our 1st time visit and enjoyed the venue. However as this is a destination pub , Restaurant, I don't think I would pay the full price. Still worth a visit if you fancy a decent meal.

Had the carvery at 13.30 and got barely 2 slithers of beef. The beef was the driest I have ever had and was inedible as was the stuffing. The food was well under the required 63• (as required by law) We mentioned it to the young waitress who was lovely. The manager came and we found her to be rude and uninterested. We left feeling unsatisfied with the food and annoyed by the service.

Haven't been to red sails for awhile, visited today so updating my review. Food was OK ish, very tight on meat, which at £13.99 each, I would expect more than a wafer slice of beef, and gammon covered in fat. Don't think I'll bother again.

Was empty so was nice and quiet but the food was gross, looked ancient!! Chicken was rubbery n tasted funny, been up ill allllllll night

We visited this establishment and ordered the Carvery meal, staff was friendly whilst ordering and whilst serving the food, The waitress came around whilst we was eating our meal's to ask if everything is satisfactory, unfortunately we explained No the food was cold and hard particular certain vegetables, waterey or greasy and was not finished due to this. Has customer's I feel a opinion can be left and not expected to be given a lecture from the manager how the food is cooked and how there was nothing wrong with the food as it had been tasted by himself, We paid for the meals and expected no replacement of food or cake offered free of charge , we did not expect a refund either, but I do feel a acceptence of how our food today was or even a apology would of been acceptable off the manager when he came to the table instead of being made to feel that we was in the wrong for daring to speak up and questioned in detail about everything we had tried. We will not visit again not just because of the food but also due to how you dealt with the situation, the manager seriously needs to approach customers better , I feel if it was 3 younger men sitting at the table instead of 3 middle aged women the confrontation by the manager to our table if any would of been different I dare to say! If I do receive response to my review left kindly refrain from responding with further attitude .

Carvery vegetables lovely but meat very sparing. Chose turkey which was very dry and crumbled and the beef was also very dry and chewy and had a very peculiar taste which as a roast beef lover made me wonder if it was off! Visited Friday lunch so maybe weekend is better?

Carvery was awful small amount of Turkey was very dry hard pieces and my 2 roast potatoes hard and greasy, carrot and turnip very watery, My 3 carrots greasy and awful , about 12 peas were hard, 3 bits of cauliflower hard and tasteless in fact only thing that had taste was stuffing and cranberry sauce yorkie was okay ish , waitress asked if everything was OK so we said no she asked why so we told her she apologised and asked if she could replace anything but no point if don't like it first time round she went away then we saw manager come take bit of this and that from the food area, then he came to table we had to explain everything again and of course he said he had tried it and had been fine but not the cauliflower as he didn't like it but he couldn't cut through mine with a knife he tried lol, he said everything is cooked properly and they put oil on their food anyway after being spoken too like we were children he said could he offer a pudding we declined and will not go back we have only been 3 times and only once was it nice his attitude towards any complaint stinks we spent £43 for a couple of mouthfuls between us !!!

Orded the salt and chilli kebab was given what looked like charcoal chicken was not salt and chillie at all. Asked for sour cream and was given salad cream. Sticky toffee pudding was hard . Not great food this time usually really nice

Family meal out 14 of us - absolutely dreadful from start to finish - i cannot eat solid food ordered soup to arrive when the other meals from the kitchen, burger and fries and sausage and fries for the little ones , the rest of the family went to queue for the carvery - the soup arrived long before anyone else's meal, it was like gruel and cold in the centre of the dish, - the waitress came to take it away to 30 mins later it came back the dish was definitely red hot, the bread they took away they brought the same dried up piece back it was solid at the edges - the gruel although the dish was definitely hot they didn’t bring a spoon, my granddaughter said good job you don’t have a sense of smell grandma because that smells foul - the family all said the same about the carvery - totally disappointing and tasteless - When the waitress came to clear the table 85 percent of the plates obviously had a lot of the tasteless food left on them, she looked at my soup she said you haven’t eaten any of it , I said I wasn’t given a soup spoon - her reply - Not my fault I didn’t set the table !!!! Safe to say we will definitely not be returning - food and drinks way overpriced - bad service and rude waitress, who clearly hadn’t had any customer service training !!!

Very good food and worth a visit.

Un amigo y yo tuvimos el más horrible carvery hace unas semanas. Una sola rodaja de carne en un tamaño mediano, Yorkshire diminuto, papas secas y verduras insípidas. Hay tantas carpinterías buenas para elegir localmente - no hay absolutamente ninguna razón para que lo tenga aquí.

Unbelievably overpriced ding food. Chilli non carne absolutely awful and the rice tasted like chemical waste. Dark chocolate and mint tart was simply sweet with absolutely no flavour. Standard fare for Red Sails as the chicken tikka masala is just as toxic.

Pub was quite busy but there was plenty of space on arrival so no problem getting a table for dinner. Lots of choice on the menu including special steak night so opted for that whilst my children had curry and burger. Ordered at the bar (not the table) but service was quick and food arrived quickly. Food was hot and plentiful and whilst not amazing quality was good value for the money overall. I also had a discount offer of 25% off the bill (one of the reasons I went) so no complaints. I have visited other Marston pubs and all are very similar so you know what you get. I would consider visiting again as overall service was good, place was clean and staff were friendly.

We were a party of 4, including 3 17/18 year olds. There was a great choice of dishes, all reasonably priced. There was the option to order and pay at the table or at the bar, which would appeal to all age groups (I know my elderly parents would prefer to order at the bar whereas we prefer to order at the table). The food arrived quickly and was all delicious - my son said the mixed grill was the best pub food he’s ever had! We don’t come through to Hull that often but when we do we always tend to eat here.

Booked a table but didn’t need to, we were shown to a table near the front door, it was half on carpet half on wooden floor which meant the chair and tables rocked, ordered via app, no one on the carvery so had to ask for service, drinks still hadn’t arrived by the time we sat down with our food, had to ask for them when the waitress came over to ask how our food was, we ate carvery which was okay but a little bland even with salt and pepper, then we left, all in all very basic, staff barely spoke to us, we got our own food no service required, won’t be returning as there are much better pubs in the area.

They stopped doing gluten free yorkshire pudding and stuffing so won't be back only reason we came

We have just been in red sails and I can honestly say the food was diabolical I only wanted the turkey as I can't have any other meals through illness the chef put and this is true a couple of spoonfuls of turkey and that was finished he never started the new one which was there he said do you want a yorkshire pudding I thought he was joking I said is that it why don't you start the other one he mumbled something I didn't catch the veg was throughly burnt and dry because it's simmering with the lids on, My husband got fish and chips and for the most part the fish was just batter I would not recommend Red Sails to anyone and we wasn't by far the only ones complaining and to top it off it was valentine's day..

We came for some lunch it was clean, warm and welcoming the staff was polite. We ordered via phone our order came in very good time it was tasty and good value for money will come more often and recommend to friends and family. Thank you!

Called in and was very happy, the service from Keisha was great. Food was served quickly, it was tasty. Keisha asked if we needed any condiments and left us to eat. Half way through our meal we were asked if everything was ok, it was. Also noticed that the tables around us were cleaned quickly once people were finished. Will go again.

The chicken strips were spicy and the soil was nice and hot when it came out. Th only down was the banging of the lids on the carvery section.

Went for small carvery.but the amount of meat you got was so small one thin slice of Turkey.thin peice of Beef.Stuffing rock hard .Yorkshire puds rock hard Don't think we will be back . Poor experience .

Welcomed with a big smile and hello. Food was lovely and atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and whilst eating I noticed an elderly couple on the next table. When the waitress saw them she recognised them as previous customers. She stuck up a conversation with them, asking how they are and how nice it was to see them back. It was lovely to see. The waitress was pottering around in the background if needed but not overpowering. She engaged in conversation when we were leaving and hoped we will be back. The staff are 100% warm and friendly so will definitely be back. Lovely experience.

From the moment I entered Red Sails the staff were very kind and nothing was to much trouble. Service at the bar was quick and the lady had a laugh with me and my daughter when ordering our food. My grandson's meal came to the table in a timely manner, which was helpful as our table didn't wait long before we got our carvery, which was lovely, once again the man serving the roasts was really nice and engaged in our banter. I must say the gravy was fantastic, I always say the gravy makes a meal haha. The atmosphere was great the children's area was brilliant, even my 2 grown children loved it. And last but not least, the pub was spotless and I am looking forward to my next visit. Thank you for a very pleasant experience 🌻

Popped in for a quick lunch while my car was being repaired nearby. Served by Rich, Sammy and Amelia. Food arrived quick and was fabulous.
