Red Sails in Kingston upon Hull, City of

From making my booking for 15 people on the website to leaving Red Sails I can only say the Team went above and beyond as usual! I made an error when booking and had to call the pub a really friendly girl answered and soon sorted me out thank goodness. Next I received a lovely phone call from a member of the Team telling me that we may not be able to sit where we wanted as there was already a large party in that area (near the kids indoor play area) but he went the extra mile to put is in a nice comfortable area with more room. I received a confirmation email and text and had the opportunity to cancel if I needed (very easy to reply on the text you just say yes or no). On arrival we were met by some Santa's elves (its that time of year) who seated us at our table with big smiles :-). The food was fabulous not long to wait and enough bar staff on so there wasn't any queues. The chef serving the carvery was brilliant very friendly and chatty and fresh vegetables and meat were continuously being brought out. Excellent service all round Red Sails is now our 'go to place' thank you everyone for a great night!

Was busy for the time we went, but the staff didn’t miss a beat! There was a queue at the order point so another was immediately opened, the carvery was well stocked and beautifully cooked, the guy carving even cut especially fatty bits of meat for me (I’m pregnant and it’s my craving) Ebony checked in with us twice that all was good as well as bringing me a box to take home my left overs as I definitely had eyes bigger than my belly! They accept tastecard too so we received 25% off which was a bonus! I’ve missed Red Sails since relocating to Scarborough but I’ll definitely be making an effort to visit more regularly!

Very welcoming. Young called Keisha served our meals and let us know when my wife could collect her carvery as I was having from the grill, this was a great idea has we both ate at the time which was good wish all restaurants did the same.

We had carvery here yesterday. The food was delicious and the server was polite and friendly. Also Amber who attended us at the table was pleasant and professional.

food terrible, mine was cold i had the surf and turf and £17 will not be going again, assistant manager Sami not helpful and very aggresive

Went for a meal here the other night with my family, great service from Ellie very attentive, carvery was lovely too.

The carvery was lovely and even though it was really busy, the one non-carvery meal we ordered was served very quickly. All staff were very friendly and welcoming and it made for a great experience.

Everything was just perfect. Staff are so friendly and they cant do enough for you. The pub was really busy, but it was clean and tidy with everything under control. The food was outstanding, we had four carvery's, cannot fault the food at all. Fantastic meal and service, thank you.

We had a wonderful experience thanks to our waitress, Keisha. She went above and beyond to ensure our meal was perfect. Not only did she double-check our order to make sure everything was correct, but she also checked in to ensure we were happy throughout our visit. Her friendly and attentive service truly stood out, and the food was absolutely amazing. Keisha’s professionalism and warm demeanor made our dining experience exceptional. Highly recommend!

Went for a quiet drink towards their closing time. Lovely interior, well decorated for the Christmas season. We didn't have food but the place smelled wonderfully of nice food. The bar person was attentive and served the drinks well. A lovely experience, we will visit again if in the area.

We had a party of 10 people, all the meals were lovely Ebony was serving us and she was lovely and friendly. Ebony also produced a little cake for my nephews birthday. Thankyou red sails.

Arrived at 12:30pm with no table booked and staff managed to find us a table. Ordered online as was on my own with a small child. Food arrived quickly.

Wow unbelievable what people from Hull will accept- Picked the carvery BIG MISTAKE Ham - poorly trimmed for too much fat on this . Yorkshire large - absolutely cold Peas - shrivelled dried Carrots - good still warm Sprouts- good still warm Gravy - congealed lukewarm slop Pigs in blankets - brought to the table way undercooked - the pig was pulling the blanket under his chin Staff fetched brown sauce and stood it on the lid on the table as there was only 1 cm left in the bottle. I reckon if William booth did lunches it would outdo this joint The cook needs a lesson in when food is cooked- basic really The staff need a lesson in when the sauce is empty. All in a pathetic place to spend your cash They are aiming at the low forehead people- volume over Quality. I’ll put this down as giving cash to charity. Fully expect a stupid response from the owner in a futile attempt to say no other complaints, isolated issues, new staff, the dogs go out, blah blah blah Looking at the one star reviews says a lot, this owner cares about his profit over his clients that’s why there are so many unsatisfied customers.

Excellent, hot food on the carvery where the vegetables don’t seem like a second thought. Please never change the carrots or parsnips as they really make the meal. The queue for the carvery was long but we visited on a Sunday afternoon and the food was totally worth it. Staff were so friendly, Amelia Elf in particular was happy to let us know about the festivities. Very child friendly with the play area outside. I would recommend this pub over any other chain pub serving carvery’s.

We went for a mid-week lunch treat. They have a good choice including a carvery which my wife had . She said this was very good. I had tomato soup and a prawn salad. Both were tasty. I have a lot of food allergies and intolerancies which were catered for admirably. Our waitress ebony was very friendly and efficient. She had a very friendly manner. A real gem.

The staff were extremely helpful and polite. The food and drinks were perfect as usual. Red Sails is the perfect restaurant to meet up with friends.

Reasonable prices ,decent range of food and beverages. Plenty of parking

rude ignorant staff. Complained the carrots were cold and burnt ,and was told that's they way they serve them. Potatoes were cold and not nice, even the Yorkshires were not up to par. Turkey was dry, beef and cauliflower were tasty but not impressed with anything else. Said we would not come back he said good. Said I was rude to his colleague, I told her the food was awful, she asked if she could replace anything I said no thanks we didn't have time. Sorry for complaining. Awful experience

Best carvery I've had. Excellent service from the front of house staff, especially from Ebony. Veg was cooked perfectly and the beef and turkey was very lean and tasty. Would 100% go again.

We was quite surprised at how good the food was and exceptional value for money, it has been quite a few years since we last visited and wasn’t very impressed then but the standards have improved 100% in our opinion. We’ll be back very soon

Always a friendly reception and good food. I recommend it. I have Coeliac disease, so have to be very careful but I eat here with no worries.

Staff super pleasant and helpful, they alerted us to when the kids food was nearly ready to allow us to get our carvery so that we could all eat together. Carvery was incredible the beef was mouthwatering.

Whilst I'm only an infrequent visitor here, this is my go to place of I want to grab a Carvery lunch in Hull. We usually get in just before midday on a Sunday, as it can get very bust in the early afternoon. There are plenty of tables and all quite nicely spaced out so you don't feel all bunched up. Once you have paid for the meal at the bar, you simply take you ticket up to the carvery. There is the usual selection of Beef, Pork, Turkey and Gammon to chose from, all cooked beautifully. To compliment that is a large range of vegetables and condiments as well as some cracking Yorkshire puddings and stuffing if you want them. Been there several times, and always had a good consistent experience. Which is better than places ranging from excellent one day, and poor the next. This is why when I'm feeling in the need for a carvery dinner...this has become my default as I know they are never gonna let me down.

Eat here regularly and always great service. Staff so friendly and attentive, everything is organised well. Great value for money, food is above average for a chain pub. I have a gluten free diet and their carvery and burgers are some to the best I’ve had gluten free.

It was nice to see the same staff, new ones too. This tells me staff are happy to work here. We arrived early and it was not a problem. Clear to see staff care about the customer experience with some disabled customer needs put first. This was lovely to see.

Booked a table for 4 people knowing it would be busy due to time of the month. Turned up and was told be 15min wait for table even though had booked. What's the point in booking? Also car park is way too small, had to wait 10mins to get parked waiting for people to leave . Walked out and went somewhere else.

Carrots burnt peas hard small amount of meat not recommended

Standards seem to be slipping. The food used to be lovely but after tonight's visit I don't think we'll be bothering again. The cauliflower was crunchy like celery, the roast potatoes were just like frozen ready cooked ones which had like a tough skin on, we ended up leaving them. My wife's beef was very fatty, she left most of that as well. Disappointing all round really. The girl clearing the tables was pleasant enough.

Another great meal with excellent service in nice surroundings - what more could you ask for. We all had a carvery - mine with the vegetarian option of a spinach tart My only niggle is paying £2 more just because it is a Sunday

We stopped for the Sunday carvery because the missus could not be bothered to cook as she had a hangover. It was very busy but the food was good. Spotted some kids flicking bogies in the food, though adds a bit of extra meat, I guess. Overall, it was the first time and a good experience also you got a blue light discount

I have been to red sails plenty of times and never had any problems staff are always nice and polite and the food I have ever had from there has always been great. But one thing I would like to complain about is today I went at lunch time with my mam, as I had said I had received an email with 30 percent of food which red sails do quite often. Picked a table and started to look for my email saying about the 30 percent of mains, couldn't find it as it was one day last week I received it. But I knew it hadn't finished it was on until the 30 th September 2024, so I went to the bar and I explained to the man that I was trying to find my email for the 30 percent off main meals. but couldn't find it I said do you have to see it he said well yes if possible. So with holding the qué up I said I cannot find it so I will just order, I ordered and got charged the full price, which I wouldn't of minded if he had to scan the email like a lot of these pub chains usually have a barcode, but with past experience been here before with email I know they only look at it and give you 30 percent off no barcode required, so I was quite annoyed that he couldn't of said oh well as gesture you cannot find the email I will take 30 percent off. It's not like it was a secret they advertised on the internet stating that they have 30 percent off mains 😡 just saying I thought it was a bit unnecessary

nice atmosphere (apart from a large table of diners with screaming kids 🥴) enjoyed a very tasty carvery, veg needed to be a bit warmer but was delicious all the same. staff very accommodating in changing my rocky road sunday so it didn't have chocolate ice cream but gave me extra vanilla 😋 will definitely visit again sometime.
