Cafe 19 in Wakefield

I ordered homemade tomato soup, which I paid £7.00 for. When it arrived, it was a Salmon colour substance...of a mushy texture. It was nothing like a homemade soup as I've eaten and ordered this in many cafes...... I queried it with the waitress who took it away and arrived back minutes later with the same soup that had been watered down, which was now a lighter shade of salmon! She told me this had just been freshly made for me. I didn't want another uncomfortable conversation, as I'd felt the first time I'd asked. Other customers around me remarked on it, too. Sadly, it tasted as bad as it looked. I decided to leave quietly as I didn't want to make a scene. TBH, other dishes being served did look ok. I didn't take a picture... but maybe I should have.

I absolutely love this cafe. Hands down the best and most welcoming cafe in Wakefield. We brought our puppy with us to have some breakfast and everyone is so lovely. The food is absolutely amazing and well priced too. The owner has this aura about her that makes you feel so welcome. Thank you and we will be back 😀

We love the place and go often but was totally put off when a small dog was sat at one of the tables and it's owner was feeding it food off her plate. Next a massive Northumberland dog was allowed in after two of the cooks had.. been stroking it and allowed it to lick her open palm. The couple then sat at a table near the counter with the dog shaking it's fur with visible signs of hair floating around . The dog was then allowed to put it's head and wet nose on the table. I love dogs but there are limits . I know all you obsessed dog lovers will disagree with me but hygiene has to take priority over dog obsession. Again I say we love the place but ???

Family run food outlet. Had a breakfast here. Good food well presented and very filling. Definitely recommend.

We popped in for coffee and toast this morning during the Rhubarb Festival. It was dog friendly and our little pooch was very welcomed! We ordered coffee and a lovely waitress came with a bowl of sausages for our dog! It was greatly appreciated!! The cafe has a nice feel and would return again in the near future!

The Healthy breakfast was yummy.

We ordered food and were told it would be a 30 minute wait which was fine. 40 minutes later 1 meal arrived but no sign of the other. No sign of cutlery to eat with or our drinks either. I asked 3 different waitresses when we would get the other meal but no answer came. After almost an hour a woman came out and very rudely told me I’d only been waiting 15 minutes waiving a receipt to ‘prove’ it. In reality they just hadn’t put our order through properly in the first place. They got very stroppy when I asked for my money back and ten minutes later came and slammed some cash down on the table and left without saying a word. I don’t care how busy you are, this is no way to run a business. You can’t be rude to customers or try to lie to their face about when they placed their order. Avoid this place at all costs.

Fab little cafe in a nice area. Large portions at a good price. Serves a wide range of different dishes.

What a brilliant place. Great food, massive portions and all at a great price. Very varied menu and lots of specials on boards. Pensioners special a bargain. Staff are very friendly and efficient.

What a fantastic cafe! Went there for brunch. The food was delicious and everyone was so friendly. We are planning on going back for lunch tomorrow before we go home. Just wish there was something like it in York!

The best cafe in Wakefield with a good selection of high quality home made food at a reasonable price. The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff are very friendly. It is a family run business and the staff and owners make you feel one of the family too. (No you don’t have to do the washing up). Specials for Senior citizens too are very tasty and so filling you may need a doggy bag. The only downside is that you may have to wait for a few minutes for a table because it’s so popular but it is well worth the wait.

Visited here in October half term, staff were so friendly and the food was out of this world! Real exceptionally well made home cooked favourites 😍 and a quite remarkable selection or vegan and gluten free foods too! Beautiful cafe with fabulous staff well worth a visit x

This is the best cafe in Wakefield . Good homemade food fresh vegetable and lovely dessert. Sarah who owns it is a lovely lady will help anyone . The pensioner meals are lovely and a decent portion also you receive a dessert and cuppa include in the price . At least you know you have had a good meal when you go home . Lovely atmosphere and great if you don’t see a lot of people . We are all friendly .

Best cafe in Wakefield for slimmers .Good sized portion and very tasty. Nothing is too much trouble and they will do all they can to make sure you get sat down. I would highly recommend this cafe to anyone coming into Wakefield and want to eat .

Excellent home cooked food, exceptionally clean and friendly staff, plenty of choice on menu to suit all diet requirements,

Went in about 10am for breakfast, decent price incl. tea/coffee & toast. Half way through eating my beans, mushrooms & tomatoes we're cold, they were never really hot to start with and the toast was impossible to cut in half.

First visit this morning. I ordered 2 breakfast and wow what a breakfast

We visit Wakefield 3-4 times a year and always struggle to find a decent cafe, well no more! Cafe 19 has an excellent menu, home cooked food , which tastes good. Friendly staff and good service. This is now our go to cafe when we visit Wakefield. 😁😁 And it’s dog friendly 😁😁

Visited with family ordered sandwiches, my sandwich came just put on a plate not even cut in half or presented with garnish or crisps. The tea didn’t taste nice and our orders all came at separate times so couldn’t eat together. Really poor presentation of food. Sausage was cheap hot dog sausage not even proper sausages.no sauces were offered poor customer service Wouldn’t recommend.

Stumbled across this place whilst working in the area for the day. Absolutely stunning food, lovely location and excellent service from happy, friendly staff. What a delight!

Been in here a few times food & service great, really good food, great value, & nicely cooked. Last time we were going in, it was full but on our way out someone was leaving so we went to sit down, but staff rushed over to say " the table was taken," no one else was stood waiting as far as I could see? I didn't realise you reserved tables.

These are the friendliest team I’ve ever met. They fussed over my granddaughter and were so lovely with us. So rare nowadays!

Absolutely fantastic OAP lunch proper home cooked roast beef dinner my friend had roast pork 😋😋 would highly recommend also a sweet and tea or coffee spotless and the staff couldn't do enough all for £7.95 each brilliant thankyou so much Cafe19 for making our trip so enjoyable

Sausages and hashbrowns only good thing. Bacon pink and not cooked spent first 10 mins trying to catch it, eggs snotty and got no toast, won't be coming back

thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to cafe 19, they looked after us and the dog excellently and he even said he'd give them Canine out of Ten too for the fuss they made of him and the free sausage he scoffed, the food was fantastic great service and lovely friendly people, will be going again and recommending to all i know, thanks all at cafe 19!

Exceptional service straight off the bat. Very accommodating for dogs. Staff were amazing and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. The hot chocolate is the best I've had in ages. The food was delicious and definitely homemade. There was a slight mix-up with my order, but this was rectified. I had the omelette with chips, and Partner had beef burger with fries. Portion sizes were incredible, amazing value for money (see photos). Definitely recommend and will most certainly visit again! Thank you to the wonderful staff.

So good. You won't believe the quality and value. Wife, 3 year old and mother all had something different, all homemade, all delicious. Incredible value. The OAP deal is out of this world. Lovely and efficient staff too. We will come whenever in Wakefield!

I come here often each time I come it just gets better and better I came with my sister on Tuesday for lunch and she told. me to get proper chips so I did and ohhhh wow they was massive and everyone of them was cooked. I be honest I didn't I think they would be but my goodness they was and the cheesecake I only got one to share trying to be good we got the rhubarb cheesecake and they wasn't enough should of got two but I was trying to be good but when something taste that good. it's hard not to the food was 100000% taste good food portions amazing thank you much to all your. team Anyone wanting Food,Desserts,Drinks THIS IS YOUR PLACE YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED ❤❤

Delicious good quality home cooked food. Large portion but also pensioners special. Staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly making a lovely atmosphere despite them being busy. We found it while on a day out visiting the rhubarb festival.

Lovely bustling cafe, great range of food and catering for young to old, small to large appetites. Staff are all friendly and welcoming. Very reasonable prices for high quality home cooked food. Our first visit but definitely not our last. The atmosphere was lovely and pleasant, with staff welcoming obviously returning customers. Plenty to choose from on the menu and specials board. Our food was great and as for the homemade chips, wow, to die for…Can’t wait to go back to try other meals from the menu, hopefully there’ll be a spare table….

First class pensioners' lunch. Pleasant staff and fast service. Certainly good value. The previous reviewers attracted my attention. Could it be as good as they said, I wondered.

Ive tried this place 3 times now and twice they havnt done my order right. Ask for well done and you get bacon or spam like its been boiled then to top it off they use long life milk in your drinks 🤮

Arrived in Wakefield shopping but was peckish. When finding somewhere to eat I tend to follow the locals, in this case it led me to Cafe 19. Vast choice ranging from breakfast fare to full meals and at a reasonable price. Should you find yourself in Wakefield give it a try.

Went to our Group’s Christmas Lunch Party there today 19/12/23. Sarah was very busy Health Inspector arrived just as we were sitting down to eat. Sarah coped brilliantly and after he had left we had the most wonderful lunches. Mine was a gluten free dinner with all the trimmings and it was perfect. I ended up taking home a doggy bag, Sarah’s portions beat me today 🤣🎄. Well done coping with our group, we can get a little noisy. The new premises on Cross Square are very open, light and clean. I hope you’ll do very well in this new location.

Really good value breakfasts. Went at around 9.15am on a Friday. Very busy but got a table. Lots of work people in so a good sign that it is a popular cafe. Wide menu at great prices. Had pancakes with bacon and a healthy full English which were great and good quality produce. Brown sauce did taste very sweet and a little different to any I’ve tasted before. Also latte was OK but the regular coffee was better. Would go again to try the other menu items. Clean toilets which is a good sign of general cleanliness.

This is honestly the best cafe in Wakefield! The homemade chips are amazing 😋. As someone who has a gluten free diet, every care is taken to cater for me. The food is delicious, far more than I can eat and the staff are so welcoming and efficient.

Made to feel welcome and like an extended family, they go above and beyond with their customers. They provide an essential community service from pre made food, delivery, as well as a service for all, disabled, dogs, learning disabilities and carers and alone or groups.

Used to eat here but its so hit and miss that we stopped and a Simple breakfast order had to go back 3 times as it was wrong even tho the order was written down,we asked for a. Slimming breakfast it came as a normal full of grease and fat on Bacon with white bread after specifying brown and no tinned tomatoes which shed written it all down, complain if you dare as Sarah does not like this, and served a child uncooked food then said it was no big deal, if the place is busy they are like headless chickens and I have seen one lady who worked there cracking eggs and throwing the dripping shells over other cooked food on the stove, for a big lady she serves small portions especially the chips if there is a few left from the last batch cooked then that's all you get, we stopped Going which is a Shame as not many food places in town now

Not a successful visit. I had a Brie & Cranberry Panini with side salad which was okay. The accompanying Latte was again, okay. My partner liked the look of the meal being taken by a fellow diner. She asked the waitress what it was but she was unable to identify it for certain but thought it could be chicken salad. So we ordered that. The salad with chicken then arrived. The chicken comprised hot, tasteless lumps of salty, discoloured unsliced meat. Beyond the initial tentative bite, not a morsel was touched. The My partner's complaint was met with an apology but full payment was still taken. No points then.

We went here today 2 mums 4 kids. The chip butties are MASSIVE. Really lovely little cafe. Really happy we went. Fantastic prices and the owner even gave all the kids a free ice pop. If I'm in Wakefield again... we will eat here.

I would just like to say a huge thank you to Sarah and her team for providing the food for my mums funeral today (8/6/23). The quality of food and the care and attention given to the layout was amazing. Over 50 people were very complimentary. Thank you again for helping the family get through a difficult day 😊💕

Great choice of meals. Exceptional value for money, especially the choice of OAP dinners inc pudding and hot drink for £6.50. All home made, from steak pie to vegan nut roast and proper fresh skin on chips. Beautifully presented meals with a bit of local banter from staff who care

Ordered food came 40 mins early as they said shop was on last orders too early for us,then argued that they did not receive delivery time from just eat,said they were going to ring me back never did,food was awful,apple pie cold,custard runny and Luke warm,sandwiches were tasteless, don't seem to care much.

Very disappointed in this shop. I ordered 2 tuna mayo sandwich’s but they came without mayo and they was very dry. The bread cakes were hard and dry too. I asked for salad and came when none. Very disappointed.

I am always honest with my reviews and are all based on first visits..I might change this because i might go to Cafe 19 quite soon. Firstly really approachable and efficient but keeping the right level of attention. Lovely staff who just know what they are doing. I had my experience along side of the regular customer banter and the atmosphere was very relaxed.. I'm sure if i keep going i will ruffle their hair.. Oh.. The food..It was ok..... I went for the Belly buster which was the second largest option but i would only order the Ultimate with a second plate or two.. Shout me if you go for it.. My breakfast was lovely. I think places like this need pointing out.. Well done team..

Ordered breakfast via just eat, waited over 2 hours for no food to be confirmed or delivered. Should not have a their cafe on just eat if they are unable to provide the service. Shocking service will not be coming here again

We use this cafe for breakfasts. The breakfast wraps are amazing. Staff are so friendly, nothing is too much trouble. Food is always piping hot.

I have been ordering from Cafe 19 for a few weeks now. A group of us from work order for delivery at lunchtime. The meat chilli with rice is absolutely delicious and comes with a lovely fresh salad. I've not had a bad meal yet from here. Sometimes delivery can be a bit late but it doesn't bother me at all; the food that arrives is always delicious and still warm.

Just had our breakfast delivered for Me And the Wife, arrived 20minutes early and the food was absolutely fantastic , we have eaten in the Cafe before and the food was just the same. Will be ordering again soon, Keep up the good work , Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.

This is a great place to eat or just have tea/coffee. The food is home cooked and excellent. They offer a range of low fat, healthy meals as well as delicious breakfasts, chip butties and loads more. Great friendly service and always a warm welcome!

I've been a meals to go customer of cafe 19 for about a year. The slimming friendly meals are substantial and very tasty, excellent value too. Throughout lockdown Sarah (the cafe owner) was able to source chicken fillets and along with her husband delivered them into the community. Sarah alaways has a smile and genuinely cares for her customers.

I went into cafe 19 today for my dinner all i can say is this place is A* . I was greeted and taken to my table , I ordered the steak pie and chips and peas amazing food lovely staff very clean place . Will defineltly be visiting again . Dont miss out best cafe in wakefield by far.cxxx
