Wonderful family owned cafe in beautiful Helmsley. As a local I am aware that the town has numerous good quality cafés and restaurants.Cornercopia is always very busy which is a true reflection of the quality of food and service.Friendly efficient staff, lovely owners, dogs welcome and possibly the best tasting cakes in the area. Certainly the best establishments in Helmsley.

Loved that sitting outside was an option, even in the rain thanks to the great parasols; also dog friendly which is super helpful on holiday. Opted to try the sausage roll and it came out warmed perfectly and served with applewood cheese and chilli jam. How have I never heard of this? Absolutely delicious. Shared the delicious tiramisu traybake. Lovely Yorkshire tea served too. Will definitely be back to try the warm cheese scone!!

After lunch we spent the afternoon at Duncombe Park and found cafe shut when we were ready for our afternoon coffee. Common problem in UK. What are tourists supposed to do after attractions close and before dinner? No wonder Costa and Starbucks are so popular.

Our usual go to cafe in Helmsley. Went today and walked to the outside seating area to be shouted at by a woman a distance away , who i guess was the owner , that we shouldn't just walk in and we had to wait to be seated. Even the table next door commented on her abrupt & rude manner. £13.20 for 2 scones & a pot of tea for 2 so we won't be returning

We visited for coffee and cake with our 2 year old. We were greeted and taken to a table by very friendly staff. Drinks were great as was the Biscoff muffin. My 2 year old stole my muffin, which staff found amusing, as did we. With this, the staff came round the corner and gave me another one on the house. Staff were great in engaging with our son who couldn’t stop looking at them and smiling. Everything about our visit was brilliant and we’ll always call in every time we’re in Helmsley. It wasn’t our first visit and it won’t be our last! Massive thank you to the staff!

Dropped in as a group for coffee, tea and cakes. All good food, served quickly with a smile. We sat in the large outside seating area which should be brilliant, as it’s spacious with good tables & chairs. Castle gate is a quiet spot so no passing traffic. Sadly some customers sitting outside insisted, despite the no smoking notices, in ‘enjoying’ their filthy habit which wrecked our enjoyment. Never again outside this place.

Unexpected visit to the area and happened upon this little hidden gem, great service, delicious food and a stunning area to visit what more could you ask for. Keep up the standards, will definitely be back when visiting in the summer

Still rubbish service! Reviewed this before last August and the service is still dreadful. We must be doing something wrong based on other reviews here. Sat at an outside table, nobody came to drop off menus or ask if we needed any help. Several staff walked past us, still ignored as no eye contact made. Gave up after 10 minutes of waiting. I’m always prepared to give a place a second chance but not again for this cafe. Whoever the owners are you need to seriously address your customer service.

The warmth and service of an interested staff made it so much easier to enjoy our trip to North yorks. The chef was so helpful with his recommendations. We chose the Thai & noodles soup, perfect. We could have stayed all day as the sweet selection was to die for. Will certainly recommend this gorjus place to my relatives of north yorks

We’re so glad we stumbled across Cornercopia (totally by chance). The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our young children, who loved their lunch and ate it all! It’s great to see some creative and different vegetarian options available and my Falafel and beetroot open sandwich was delicious. Everything was very reasonably priced. Thank you for rescuing a hungry family from an imminent hangry toddler meltdown. We’ll be back the next time we’re in Helmsley.

Well what can I say! What an amazing experience we have had today in the Cornercopia, just stunning. A beautiful little eatery next to Helmsley castle. We called in for lunch, staff were friendly and loved the dog, The barista Tracey made us beautiful coffee, I had the french onion soup with bubbling cheese on the top and my partner had the ham hock terrine, all freshly prepared and homemade by the most talented chef. We have eaten in some exceptional places but this is by far the best, well done to all the staff!! We can’t wait to return !!

Had just finished a 4 mile walk round Duncombe Park and Helmsley Castle and needed a sweet treat and coffee. Despite this being a Wednesday in January it was quite busy and the cafe was warm so we sat outside. Scone and cake were very nice although the slice of cake could have done to have been a bit thicker. Coffee was delicious.

After a lovely walk we chose to have drinks & snacks at this delightful cafe. We were warmly welcomed and served quickly. The bacon roll, soda bread toast & vegan cake were all delicious. The Americano coffee was the best I've had whilst out and about and the gentleman (the owner?) who served us was happy to provide a leaflet about a local business where we could buy the coffee for home. The little extras make the experience memorable for all the right reasons and we were all impressed with our brunch today. Many thanks

Cornercopia is the cafe and tearoom we usually use when we visit Helmsley. It is very smart and the service is always welcoming and very efficient. We were only in for coffee, tea and scones all of which were very good, particularly the fruit scones that really are rather special.

We arrived on Sunday for a quick cake & coffee but was amazed to find an amazing little place serving sensational food, we had a couple of the specials and all were superb. The staff where attentive and superb in the way they approached our needs
