Lovely boutique licenced cafe with lovely staff and great food 👍👍👍👍👍

Visited many times for cakes and scones. tried a tuna melt panini today. Very average more cucumber than tuna, not sure there was any cheese there Disappointing

We went in here but they were only offering drinks and cake for some reason. They didn't explain the reason but in fairness to them, they did say they were not offering food as soon as we walked in. The drinks were fairly reasonably priced but were fairly standard. In response to the reply I just received, if it was so obvious that you stop serving food at a certain time, I wonder why you felt it necessary to explain to us and the four other groups of people who arrived after us, that food was not available. You are clearly aware that printing it on the menu is inadequate, because you wouldn't go to the trouble of mentioning it to everyone who walks through the door. But thanks anyway, clearly not somewhere I will bother coming back to try the food in the future.

Went on the opening night for the new “Bistro By Evening” occupying the same space as the Institution Bistro Cafe on Bedale High Street. (opened 5pm Fri 7 June 24) & really liked everything about it. Loved fact there were people in there enjoying everything from just drinks to drinks with tapas dishes to full meals like Beef Short Rib or Lamb Shank etc. Staff all super friendly & efficient. What’s not to like about this new great addition to Bedale. Excellent parking on the High Street as well.

We went this evening for a lovely meal. Food was delicious, cocktails and drinks perfect but I really want to praise you for the exceptional service. The gentleman (I didn’t catch his name) was fantastic, and Harry!! Well that young man is an absolute diamond, such a credit to you!! Well done all round, see you soon!!

Popped in here on the off chance for a coffee on our way home was pleasantly surprised ,ended up having some nibbles wine and coffee loved it x

After waiting a long time for my order it finally arrived but wasn’t worth the wait. The breakfast was swimming in oil/grease, hard egg, burnt black pudding, burnt bacon and everything else was cold. We won’t be eating there again

Lovely lunch, nice coffee the only slight disappointment was that they had suspended the menu competition till the semi finals the following week. We'll have to go back. 😁

Found this excellent cafe on a stop off for breakfast on our way to Bamburgh. Quality and size of the full English and vegan breakfast were fantastic. The coffee was good too. Service was excellent. Prices were reasonable £9.95 each. Would definitely go back again.

Nice atmosphere , however let down by the food and service , food was average for the price , and took a long time. Service was poor, waiting to ask for the bill for 10+ minutes , eventually to end up going down stairs to pay at the counter to find the 3 staff members stood there talking…

Went in today. Menu far too overpriced . A sausage sandwich £6 no thanks. Ripon and Northallerton are cheaper than here.

We often visit Bedale and head straight for here, had a lovely chat with the owner yesterday a very friendly and interesting chap. Everything here is top notch and lots of comfy chairs, even more upstairs

Having followed on FB for a while it was lovely to finally visit. We were lucky to get a table as it was mainly reserved on Friday lunchtime. It was lovely! We'll be back!

Perfect breakfast, Excellent friendly staff. I would come again. Plenty of Breakfast options. Biscoff milkshake and chocolate orange mocka was devine.

One of my new favourite places to go for cake and coffee, I recommend the Carrot and Walnut cake 🍰 it was lovely. Great atmosphere and the friendliest staff very kind, helpful and lovely to chat with. I will definitely be going back soon 👍🏻

Stopped for a coffee, sat outside. Coffee was nice. Setting nice.

We ordered 2 vegetarian breakfasts and apart from the poached eggs being very hard we really enjoyed it. The only thing we didn’t realise was that they charge 50p for a portion of brown sauce. I really can’t believe that they charge for this. It just comes across as being very stingy.

Only had a latte, no food. Friend had a blueberry scone. It looked very nice! Place quote full but tables well spread out, staff all friendly and reasonably priced.

Kindly fitted us in just as the kitchen was closing- great service and food and i was very impressed by the vegetarian options :)

What à disgrace, i was astonished at the quality of food served, eggs benedict both eggs hard, and table next to us git same, breakfast was well over cooked, we didn't want to cause a scene for sure won't be back, we took photos which we try and post

Nice restaurant, outdoor seating in summer is lovely. The food has been fab 4/5 times i’ve been, but really disappointing on my first visit- glad I went back as it’s been lovely each time since.

Booked a table for 13:30 today with no hassle, lovely customer service on arrival. Quick delivery of drinks once ordered and the food was superb! We had the burger and soup and was amazed how tasty it was. Would come back 100% :)

Superb cafe, efficient and friendly service with excellent food. I often stop for breakfast or lunch when passing on the bike. Not cheap but a fair price for the quality. Goats cheese flatbread is excellent. Coffee very good also. Never disappoints.

So poor Chicken burger was actually 3 cold chicken nuggets Tiny beef burger barely luke warm Odd serving boards food / chips were falling off on to the ground. Friendly staff, slow service, breakfast was £10, which is fine if the the quality of the produce is high but it wasn't, clearly cheap sausages and tinned mushrooms ect.

Fabulous little bistro cafe with great food, fab cocktails and delicious coffee - and dog friendly as well. What's not to like?! We will definitely return next time we visit Bedale 😊

Best Lemon Drizzle Cake EVER!!! What a great place, delivering cake and cheese to the place we were staying for a surprise 50th weekend (Aiskew Villa in Bedale). The Brie cake was perfect with the delicious crackers for a bunch of cheese fanatics. Thank you so much.

What an amazing place for breakfast! The staff were so accommodating, with all our family (baby, dog and 5x adults). We will certainly be back.

Had an Afternoon Tea at the cafe with friends last week, the afternoon was delicious with sandwiches cakes and scones together with Yorkshire tea. We'll worth a visit

Lovely find! Excellent food, great service. Came off the A1 to find somewhere for lunch and can highly recommend this cafe.

Stopped here while heading south and planned to sit outside for some coffees and snacks. However, weather had turned chilly so decided to get takeout coffees instead. The server kindly brought them to our car when they were ready. Great coffee and we’d stop again if passing or in the area. The eat in menu looked fab - full of interesting looking snacks and lunch items.

Stopped here on our way home this morning, have to say the food was really good and service was friendly and quick. Even bought out some biscuits for the dog. Many thanks.

We absolutely love this cosy little bistro. Very friendly staff offering a wide variety of choice form a wall displayed menu. Vegetarian food on offer and they welcome well behaved dogs.

We visited this cafe for breakfast on our way home from a break away and so glad we did. I am always expecting not to have much choice as I am dairy and wheat intolerant but this wasn't the case today. The waitress asked the chef to come out and help with options for me, which was a lovely experience and so nice to have such a personal service. The food was so nice, it was in fact the best breakfast I have had eating out! Everyone's meals were lovely even the tea, which there was lots of, and the staff were so nice too. I wish we lived close by as this would definitely have to be my local. Top mark's!

When visiting my daughter, we always go here. Nice ambience, attentive, friendly staff, comfy sofas, tasty food. Favourites include the homemade date and walnut scones, bagels, homemade soup and salmon and prawns on sourdough bread. Presentation of food is lovely. Care taken with child’s plate, which had various titbits to tempt. Looking forward to next visit.

Great coffee shop, selling lovely coffee's and a good selection of very nice food. Well worth a visit, the host and his staff are very friendly.

Great coffee in Bedale. Well worth the short detour from the hassle of the A1M. Comfy sofas and chairs, lovely friendly staff, choice of delish cakes. And nice clean toilets too. Bedale itself is well worth exploring if you have the time! A box of gems tucked away in a beautiful corner of Yorkshire.

Beautiful afternoon tea at this lovely place. Lovely sandwiches and a range of scones and cakes. Boxes provided to take home what you cannot eat. I would highly recommend.

We had a marvellous birthday treat here! We pre-ordered afternoon tea for two people, and ordered from the regular menu for the other two. The afternoon tea was really special. Unlimited sandwiches (the egg mayonnaise was my favourite), two mini scones with clotted cream and jam each (divine), and an exquisite selection of little cakes to share. Unlimited tea and filter coffee on tap topped everything off. Highly recommended!

Brilliant, modern boutique cafe. Lovely staff, nice rooms, very quirky. Really nice food. We went for lunch on an April Saturday. I had toasted Cheddar and Apple and fig chutney in brown with salad and crisps plus a large latte. Hubs had a cheese and ham toastie in white and pot of tea. We both had orange and dark chocolate cake with something like orange jam inside and wow, did it give your taste buds a zing and I don't even like cake. The bill was £22. Fantastically nice service, really was. Cheap at the price and def want to go again. They also have a room at the top, 3 floors up with lovely leather sofa chairs. Just what Bedale needs and very busy. Loved it. Absolutely loved it. Will def go here again. Parking right outside in this lovely little Dales town. 😊

The best dog friendly eating house in Yorkshire. As you sit down with your dog, a small dish of biscuits for your friend. Then it’s down to your order, which is lovely food and drink. Your dog will be welcomed with open arms by the staff, and you are too. Thank you “Institution”
