The owner of nearby B&B suggested me this pub for dinner, as only option to have a dinner in this village on Sunday. The pub was a bit crowded (as expected for Sunday evening), but there was no problem to find free table. When waiter bring me the menu, there was with him also a chef, who said that they just run off the lamb, but that he can prepare fresh beef with sides. And beef with sauce, Yorkshire pudding, baked potatoes and boiled fresh vegetable was really tasty. This dinner was also good experience for me as a foreigner - when eating the dinner i could feel and taste a bit of atmosphere in the English countryside on Sunday evening.

We called in while passing and although no food was available as a new chef wasn't starting until March we bought drinks and it was a lovely cosy little pub with a real fire. The bar is tidy and nice to look at and the lady behind the bar was very pleasant on her first day on the job. Lovely tables and seating and what looks like a recent paint job throughout. Toilets were clean and the beer was very good with a choice of real ales. I'm sure this will be even better and busier when the kitchen reopens. We hope to be back again to try the food.

I came here for dinner, so that is what my rating reflects. It’s a nice enough pub with a reasonable selection of beers, but the kitchen staff had no idea how to cook a steak. It was grey and unseasoned; clearly the grill was not hot enough to start. They seemed to try to compensate the quality with quantity - the blue cheese sauce I ordered came in a jug that must have had half a pint of the stuff.

We went to this pub for a Sunday lunch with my family. The place was empty at 12pm so we got served immediately. We all ordered a Sunday roast which was lovely. plenty of meat, vegetables were cooked well and a nice variety of them on the plate. Gravy was homemade. The service was quick and the staff was helpful, we were offered some condiment. The only let down were the Yorkshire puddings which were burnt and rock hard, even gravy didn't manage to soften them. I wouldn't serve them to paying customers. So Yorkshire puddings need to be addressed. Otherwise, pleasant experience and I would consider returning to the place again as the prices are also quite reasonable so as the interior and the atmosphere.

We went here because we have always enjoyed the food and the service but this visit was shocking to what they normally serveI ordered hunters chicken and it came with a dozen frozen chips ( I did just ask for a few ) the menu says twice cooked chips they were definitely not twice cooked and definitely pre frozen. There was also a 5” piece of flat chargrilled chicken with grated cheese on the top and a 5” piece of flat gammon steak which were both as tough as nails on the plate. It was finished off with a large stack of green salad leaves and a half a piece of grilled tomatoI asked the waitress to take it back to the kitchen and remove the frozen chips and the salad leaves and give me some veg instead. When the plate came back it had one stalk of broccoli which was so hard I couldn’t cut it, a large amount of frozen peas which were wrinkled and hard and some chunky carrots which were soft and tasted lovely. For £11.25 all I ate was the carrotsMy husband had a rump steak and he said it was quite tasty and on the plate there was again a pile of frozen chips and a stack of green salad leaves no veg a half a grilled tomato and some onion ringsThe staff were really nice and friendly and there was a nice atmosphereMy mother used to love to come here it was her favourite place to eat, sadly we lost her, who knows what she would have thought about it now Come on Bay Horse sort yourselves out, serve some fresh homemade chips and plenty of fresh veg not the piles of salad leaves on the plates

Unexpected tea out on a Friday, decided to try the Bay Horse as neither myself nor my partner had been there for many years, I don't think I will be trying it again for many years.:(My partner ordered a bottle of wine off the wine list, young waitress came back to say they didn't have that one in. I ordered the seabass that came with what I thought was a prawn and lobster sauce!! Yes silly me what do I know mixed in with the crushed new potatoes were prawns and lobster tails, sadly I just ended up eating the sea bass which was very nice, had to leave the rest though as I don't like prawns and haven't tried lobster. When the person came to take away the plates she just took them away and asked if we wanted anything else, I asked for a white coffee which then became a complicated question of I wanted milk on the side!! I ended up ordering a latte. We also had a fly that was constantly trying to share the meal with us and when I mentioned to the waitress I was told that because it had been so warm the window had been open and they are next to the canal so flies were to be expected. It did land on the sugar whilst we were having coffee. Overall I wouldn't say it was worth another visit.

We called at The Bay Horse for a snack lunch on our way into Skipton for a family gathering. The service was quick and efficient, the staff pleasant and welcoming. The fish in the fish finger sandwich my husband said was very nice but the ciabatta bread was tough.I ordered the ham and cheddar melt, a few small pieces of thick cut tasty ham and cheese again on tough bread, the knife would not even cut it, the top of the sandwich was so hard I had to leave it. The sandwich was topped with a dried, shrivelled lump of what should have been pea shoots. We had a choice of salad or skin on fries to accompany the sandwiches so we ordered one of each. The salad was very nice, the fries were not hot and did not taste fresh, just as if they were left overs and refried. The prices were very reasonable but I don’t think we shall be visiting again. This restaurant is in an ideal position just on the outskirts of Skipton, with a large car park and canal at the rear with the colourful barges passing regularly by. There is a large outdoor eating area ideal for this lovely summer weather. A little more attention to the quality of the food should be applied.

This gives a slope rather than steps but when inside I could not see any tables for food on this level which werent up/down a few steps including access to the beer garden, I didnt do a thorough survey but nothing jumped out. We were directed to a table up 4 steps, was I asked if I could manange tis, no. We soon moved from the first table as it was under music speakers but were told the new table was reserved even though there was no sign on it. The menu had fair proportion of meals with some alcohol in them which I dont do so asked if how much alcohol was in steak pie (most meat cooked in red wine would have liltle left if meat slow cooked,) she had to ask, came back lots. Asked if scampi was actual scampi - didnt know, gave up and ordered fish and chips +2 steaks. The accessible toilets isnt very, through a narrow door and tight corridor though the actual loo was big. I washed my hands as you do. Small sink, tap on left, big automatic handdrier above sink, soap dispenser on right. Turn on tap, reach across for soap, go back to tap to rinse, handrier started with massive blast of air forcing water from tap a good 20cm in air - and all over me. Asked to see manager, not available. Got one of waiting staff and showed her the issue - comment, you should have turned off the tap before switching on the drier!!!!!!!! and I'll make sure they are made aware of it . I didnt switch the drier on, it did it itself! No sorry, no can I get you a towel. I'm glad I wasnt in a wheelchair. It flooded the floor so she would have had to mop it up.So sitting in wet t-shirt, husbands medium rare arrived well done so was sent back, fish not great as pollock, cheapest around so pricy at £10.50. None of our "thrice cooked" chips were. Daughter's rare steak pronounced tasty. To add to it all the gift card wouldnt work so we neednt have gone there and I tripped over some damaged pavings outside the entrance. I was informed the drier had been switched off and paper towels put in, do I think it will be altered - no its only the disabled on after all. No we will not be going back.

Ate here twice - one lunch and later in the week an evening meal. Outside both times - service good, food good, welcoming host, excellent weather - what more could we want. We had steak with peppercorn sauce - cooked asked we asked for and very tasty. Would be happy to visit again

Have finally learnt our lesson this place has remained variable at best but we have over the last few years had more bad than good experiences. As it is local and Vintage Inns usually reputable and reliable we have returned hoping the negative experiences were one offs. However tbh other places deserve our money. Our last experiences was the worst - spoken to very rudely - tried to indicate there were no tables available when place half empty and also most tables not cleared. Made to feel unwelcome. Many items ‘unavailable’. Food itself was ok but not to other Vintage Inn quality. This is on a prime setting next to the canal outside Skipton and should be thriving but is a let down

Well what can I say?The family and I opted for Fish and Chips since we'd just come home from holiday. When we received it the batter was soggy to touch and not hot. When I tasted mine I could smell a distinctive ammonia smell. When I approached the waitress and told her of our issue she looked at it from A distance and said it was the beer batter ( like that was ok) I mentioned that I am a chef and that the smell was definitely not the "beer batter" (which was totally tasteless)After around 15 minutes the Chef appeared. He tried to blame the nearby farm. I asked him to smell the fish closely. He actually denied it smelt of ammonia! I explained that I was a chef and am very familiar Of the signs of old fish. The Chef said he would speak to I assume the manager. 20 mins passed and nobody came so we left. Unfortunately we have eaten here a fair bit and it has declined every meal we've had untill this low! All of this could have been avoided by offering us an alternative Maybe employ a few people skills. Incidentally my children were having the fish and they were the first to spot the "Odd smelling fish".A Head should never blame his brigade to customers for issues that have arisen. This was a very disappointing and very poor experience both front of house and kitchen.

Called in on Father's Day. They only had a fixed price three course menu or the individually priced vegan menu available. As we didn't fancy any of the starters on the fixed price menu we asked whether we could substitute the soup from the vegan menu. We were emphatically told no that was not possible it was either the fixed price menu or the vegan menu. As a result we left, they lost custom and another local restaurant gained custom. A business which show total inflexibility over a bowl of soup does not deserve any custom. I will be avoiding Vintage Inns in the future.

We visited while on the canal, they were very dog friendly even offering our pooch some doggie snacks . My wife and I both had steaks, her serloin with peppercorn sauce and me ribeye. Both were lovely and mine was done to perfection. My brother in law had fish and chips which although was nice he said he wasn’t wowed by it. I have to say that on the whole it was a lovely meal with lovely friendly staff.

We visited on a Friday afternoon and walked up from Skipton town centre. The temperature was just warm enough to sit out with the dogs (although dogs are permitted inside on the tiled areas). We ordered our usual chicken and bacon sandwiches at the bar. Service was good and food arrived in quickly. Water was provided for the dogs. Reasonably priced and a lovely setting. The food perhaps wasn't quite as good as previous visits but it was hot and plentiful.Slight grumble that no one checked our table or cleared our plates (but then there was only us sat outside). Toilets seem to be lacking a little - toilet roll holders were broken although toilet roll was provided, and the hand wash dispensers were broken - again soap was provided but maybe a bit of maintenance wouldn't go a miss.Overall cheap and cheerful and will probably try again.

Staying at a nearby hotel, a short walk along the canal towpath is the Bay Horse Inn,We were seated immediately and after selecting from a good range of drinks, we enjoyed a very good meal. The menu is quite extensive and the portions were very good. Also good value for money.

Moored here for the night on our canal trip, arrived as a group of 5 with 2 dogs in tow and was very impressed. Dogs were offered biscuits and a bowl of water was placed by our table for them. Beer was well kept, service was prompt and friendly, food was good and plentiful, and prices were very reasonable. A great find!

We were passing here and called in on the way home. We thought we may have a wait but we were seated straight away. I am vegetarian but was impressed by the vegan menu. I had the vegetable tart Sunday lunch and my OH had the hunters chicken. Half a lager and a small Chardonnay washed the meal down. No room for pudding!

This place has had an excellent revamp inside and on the menu. There’s a good value menu with decent portions. The staff member on duty (mid afternoon on a Tuesday) appeared to be on her own but was friendly, helpful and quick. The food was good and arrived in good time. I have no complaints at all and a big thanks to our waitress, she’s a credit to you.

We came here for a light lunch - between us we ordered a steak sandwich, a chicken BLT, and a children’s fish and chips. The chunky chips and skinny chips were cooked lovely, the children’s meal was enjoyed - however the 2 sandwiches were mainly bread, the steak was very fatty and there was a lot of gristle in it. It was a rather expensive ‘light lunch’ at £28 - especially as we had tap water with our meals so there was no extra cost there. The service was a little disappointing as we felt the staff were a bit rude. Overall it was ok but unfortunately we won’t be returning

Me and my partner decided to take a visit as I had previously been and knew how excellent the place was. We booked online and when we arrived was greeted by 2 lovely waitresses. Shown straight to our table and had our drinks and meal order taken shortly after..We both opted for starters, the flat bread and prawn cocktail. Both were a very good portion and well presented. Both then had the 10oz rib eye and must say they came out perfectly cooked to how we asked. It was just a shame we couldn't finish due to how full we both got.Lastly we both opted for a brownie and raspberry cheesecake and they were heavenly.Overall so glad I came again, staff were friendly and quick. The food was easily the best meal we have ever had and the pub is beautifully set. Many thanks for a lovely evening and will definitely be back

Took my wife here for a Mother's Day meal, they had a special menu for the day. Overall the food was very good, just a few small gripes. The vegetables were overcooked for my taste and they seemed to be short of some stock, e.g. The Rump Steak, the fish and some ice cream. I found this a bit surprising as they had insisted on booking and also paying a deposit so I would have thought that this would help them estimate how much stock to get in for the event. They were going to various diners and explaining that they had none left of the item the diner had ordered. We had the mushrooms in garlic and cheese sauce which was excellent and the lamb Kofta's which whilst quite tasty appeared to be heavily processed and I doubt they were made to order by the chef. My wife opted for the roast beef and Yorkshire Pudding (not very adventurous) which was very good apart from the over-cooked vegetables. I had the Chicken and pulled Gammon pie which had excellent flaky pastry and a delicious filling, although I did not find much Gammon in it and again the over-cooked vegetables. However, we were very pleased with our experience and will probably try this place again in the future. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The meal and drinks came to about £25 a head which was not excessive and reasonable considering the quality and quantity of the food.

Both the chips and fish were frozen warm up jobs. It’s a nice pub in a nice location but the food was really poor.

We were delighted to see that the pub was doing a separate vegan menu alongside their regular food, so made a beeline for lunch there. It was quiet, which suited us, and the service was welcoming and friendly, and prompt. The vegan menu is short, but a good variety of dishes. For a pub's first outing into vegan food, we thought it was very good. Not overly sophisticated, but tasty, healthy and well presented. We both had the spiced carrot soup, which was well-balanced (although came with too much bread, which was wasteful) and then hubby had the kale etc salad and I had the roasted veg tart. For puds, the coconut sorbet was outstanding. As it was quiet, the chef came across for a chat, as she was interested to know why we chose to be vegan and I thought that was good - genuine interest and we had a lovely discussion. We hope the menu will change every so often, otherwise we won't want to keep going back, but as long as it does, this looks like being a regular lunch treat for us!

Booked this table on the day via the central booking line for vintage inns which worked well. Table of 8 and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. We all had starters. My family shared the starter sticky platter which suited us very nicely. We had garlic bread, delicious prawns, chicken wings, lamb koftas and some stuffed peppers. Really nice to share. Mains again were very good. I had a small fish cake which was delicious. Burgers were enjoyed too. All the food was presented nicely. The service was polite and friendly. At the time the pub had lovely coal fires roaring and it was a warmly setting on snowy afternoon. We have been to a pub in this chain in Bingley for many years but this spot is much better food wise. I cannot believe their menus are similar to be honest so we will be returning here for sure. Maybe they should sample each other's food to keep up the chains reputation? Thank you to Bay horse was a lovely family meal. We will be back.

I ate here today with two friends. We arrived separately but no one greeted us or offered us menu’s. We saw a table up some steps and sat down but 15 minutes later a member of staff (I think a manager of some sort due to the uniform) came over and asked whether we had booked the table. We responded saying that we hadn’t as there was no reservation sign on the table nor was it obvious that was a restaurant as it was simply up some steps. There was an uncomfortable silence to which we then asked her whether she wanted us to move and she responded saying that she had moved the booking and whether we were ready to order. When we said that we hadn’t had a chance to look at the menu she said that there were lots of bookings due in etc. basically insinuating that we needed to order soon and then leave. The food itself was average, chips were slightly undercooked and it took quite a long time to arrive. However, the second lady who took our order and brought our food was very nice. All in all, the food was okay but the first lady made the atmosphere for an uncomfortable meal so wouldn’t recommend.
