🚇 Willesden Junction 🍺 £5.50 Cruzcampo The Royal Oak is located on a busy crossroads on bustling Harlesden High Street in NW10. The nearest station is Willesden Junction, it’s a five minute walk to get here. This imposing four-storey building was built in 1861 and was remodelled in an Elizabethan Revival style in 1891. The pub closed suddenly at the beginning of the year, thankfully it reopened in March after a thoughtful refurbishment. The pub is now run by @craftunionpubs . This is a big old Victorian boozer that is set out over two floors. The main bar on the ground floor is ‘U’ shaped. The decor is traditional with original wall panelling, plenty of seating and some amazing Victorian tiling of a Parliamentarian trooper in the side entrance. Upstairs is The Loft Bar, this is a sizeable space with a pool table, dartboard and has beautiful features like the ceiling, fireplace and Georgian panels. There are also a couple of outside spaces in the form of a small beer garden and a roof terrace. The beer choice will please the masses and consisted of familiar keg favourites plus Timmy Taylor’s Landlord on cask. I decided on a Cruzcampo, my pint was top notch, price point was good at under six quid. The pub doesn’t serve food, the previous owners did but it’s not that kinda pub. I arrived around 6pm on a warm Saturday evening in May. The pub was fairly busy with a local crowd and a chilled atmosphere. Nottingham Forest v Chelsea was showing on the multiple screens around the pub which had the majority of punters engaged. I had a lovely chat with the Landlady who was warm, welcoming and friendly. I also got chatting to a couple of Irish lads who were telling me about their escapades drinking in pubs around Harlesden. This pub shows all live Premier and Champions League and offers a variety of entertainment like Karaoke throughout the month. The Royal Oak is a proper local’s pub where the local community are well represented. This pub has some stunning original features, a fantastic Guv’nor at the helm and is a great place to watch the footy. Loved it! ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 11.05.24

DO NOT STAY HERE The reality is nothing like the photos on the website. Booked last year but only advised that the kitchen had been shut down a week before our trip despite it closing months ago. Too late to book any where else so we arrived expecting the worst only to be disappointed. No hot water on the first night and the issue wasn't fixed until late the following day. The stand in manager was doing her best but Vixen pubs should be ashamed. There are plenty of nice pubs in Settle, avoid this one even for just a drink

Carpet on landing had tear in it , room very basic no toiletries in bathroom only tea and coffee sachets available , No where to put your own toiletries, in bathroom, cover on toilet flush missing , shower over bath difficult to get in and out of , No food available for evening meal or breakfast , we were asked to leave room keys on bar area when leaving as no one may be around , and they weren't, positive off street parking , well overpriced for one night in a bed

Stayed 18/04/2024 to 20/04/2024 My advice is do not go there. On arrival we were informed that the kitchen had been removed so there was no facility to have breakfast or any other meal which they do not say in their advertising or by any other format. It is run down both in the bar area and in the bedrooms. There is no area to lounge in. Only one member of staff that we saw. I have to admit that the bedding was very clean but in no way does that make up for the rest of the establishment. We have complained to the owners but they have not even bothered to reply to us at the time of writing. We had our 88 year old father with us so and had no option but to stay or drive 300miles home. In hind site should have turned round and gone home.

Worse experience we have received! We had gone in a few months ago. The young girl behind the bar was rude. She was just sat at the bar on her phone. We waited 10 minutes to be served only to be treated badly. There were glasses covering all the tables. The manger was the same. She didn't greet us when we walked in. The pub was not clean at all. Slap bang in the middle of Settle this pub is A PUB Nothing pretentious... The 1970's revolving door entrance and the dark wooden panelling hints at better days. However, on my visit the kitchen was closed (Chef hadn't turned up) but no matter, I enjoyed a couple of beers and a craic with some locals. Some friends from abroad booked from a website and stopped two nights a couple of weeks ago, the first morning they said the hot tap didn't work, neither did the tv and the shower was a trickle, they needed to meet us at 8.30 and breakfast service hadn't commenced! The next day they left at 8.30 again with no breakfast and no staff insight so just left left the keys. Rather bemused by the whole experience. Even more dissapointed when we took them for an evening meal at The Lion and they realised it was a hotel..

I went last in on my own last weekend and the barman was quite rude and grumpy when I tried to make small talk whilst waiting for a beer, I just presumed he was having a bad day. Then just as he was serving me he slammed my pint down and rushed over to the revolving door just as I could see a little girl crying having dropped her teddy in the revolving door while she was going out with some adults and the teddy had jammed in it, I clearly thought he was rushing over to help but instead he jammed his foot in the door to stop the girl pushing the door round which trapped her inside banging her into the revolving door and he then started to shout at her and the adults with her that the "door was over 150 years old and they should have more respect". The little girl was heart broken and sobbing and it was all very embarressing. The poor girl was only about 8 or 9 years old. I dont think I will be coming back again being a parent myself if thats how they treat small children. I left most of my beer on the table and left. Lots of other customers looked very embarressed too, especially all the ones with children of their own. If you have children I'd question bringing them in here, there are lots of family friendlier places in Settle to go to. Real shame as it has potential if they just cleaned up the staff attitude and also the pub a bit.

The later wasn't good either, if you have a grudge against your guts then go here or if you like a goos Sunday dinner go somewhere else. I wouldn't want you to waste your money and time and offend your taste buds. Book into Baileys across the road and enjoy your food. I booked a 1 night stay for my birthday with my wife for 7th April. With great sadness, the family had a call from a hospital in Manchester informing us that my father in law had been admitted and was very unwell. He is in palliative care, and as I type this, we are by his bedside. I telephoned the hotel at the earliest opportunity to inform them about the situation. A very nice man, named James, listened to my upsetting news and advised that he would speak to management and as it was busy, take my number and contact me later on. We are still by the bedside as it's not going to be long for our beloved Dad. All I wished for was to reschedule the stay, but after making a call for the 2nd time and not hearing back from the hotel, I was informed there was nothing they could do. I understand that I was late to inform the hotel, but it was the earliest opportunity after having to drive 2 and half hours to the hospital and spending time by the bedside to inform them. I'm truly disappointed that they couldn't make an allowance and show some leeway to re-schedule the break away.

We stayed here for one night just after Christmas when visiting our elderly father who lives in the town. The room was basic and not a room you wanted to spend anytime in. No wardrobe only hooks on the wall. No bedside tables or lamps....

The pub is a chain but the food was pretty good, the staff were helpful and friendly. The building was clean and tidy as were the toilets. For a cheap meal it was good.

Staff are friendly and welcoming. Rooms were clean, warm and beds were very comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was really lovely. Only downside was water pressure in shower, but that's a small downside to an overly really lovely experience ❤️

Went into the restaurant to be told they are taking the last orders as it was nearly 3pm when they stopped serving. Not a problem I get that. Walked over the path to the farm shop. Lots of nice stuff, most of it not priced up so you had no idea what you were paying. The bits that were priced up were very expensive, we called in mid ride so wanted something light. Ended up with one of the saddest "sandwiches" I've ever had. 2 thick pieces of brown bread with 1 piece of ham, then cut in half. No relish or pickle or salad. Asked what hot drinks were available, a list was reeled off by the lady serving in a very uninterested way, if they had a drinks menu up we wouldn't have asked! Settled on a latte and a cappuccino, asked for extra hot as we were sitting outside, to be told "I can only press the button". Walked out with the sad sandwich and two luke warm cups of coffee which were probably 50/50 liquid and foam. Other people came out complaining about luke warm drinks and silly prices. Definitely will not be back and wouldn't recommend it.

Wow! A lovely traditional pub in the heart of Skipton. We popped in a for drink before finding somewhere to eat. As we enjoyed our drinks there was a steady stream of locals coming in for food so we decided to stay and eat. There was a good selection on the menu, including specials. The food was excellent, freshly cooked hearty food with generous portions. The staff were freindly and attentive and we will certainly be back next time we are in Skipton.
