Waited over 15 minutes to get served a drink. One uninterested barman for over 70 people. Had pre-ordered our food . It was given to someone else. The management refused to replace it as the kitchen was about to shut. Very arrogant attitude. On the plus side, a good pint of beer. Ate next door at the very friendly Lister Arms.

I had the unfortunate experience of dining at this establishment recently and I must say, it was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. The landlord with the top knot was incredibly rude and aggressive, making the entire meal uncomfortable. To make matters worse, three out meals we ordered were inedible and had to be sent back. Instead of offering to replace the dishes or make it right in any way, the landlord simply removed them from the bill. This left my daughter without dinner, and she ended up in tears due to the aggressive behavior of the landlord. I would strongly advise anyone considering dining here to avoid it at all costs. The service is terrible, the food is subpar, and the overall atmosphere is unpleasant. Save yourself the trouble and find somewhere else to eat. Avoid, avoid, avoid!

If I could give this pub zero stars, I would. From the moment we arrived, the manager was obviously angered about us not pre-ordering as a large group, even though we weren’t informed of this requirement at the time of booking. Despite the mix-up, we accepted that there would be a longer wait for food. However, after waiting 2 hours, we still hadn’t received our mains. To make matters worse, our group ranged in age from 7 months to 90 years, making this wait unbearable. The lack of communication and disregard for our situation was shocking. The staff were inattentive, and when we raised our concerns, the manager was unapologetically rude and dismissive. The food, when it finally arrived, was inedible – poorly cooked and impossible to enjoy. 3 mains were returned as they were awful, and the managers response was that we were the problem not the food. With terrible service, rude management, and awful food, this was easily the worst dining experience we’ve ever had. Avoid this place at all costs!

A last minute pit stop and the staff were very flexible with orders. They do stop serving at 8pm so bear that in mind, because there aren't many options in the area. Food was lovely, 4 lamb shanks.

Very popular pub with walkers and in an ideal place. So ok, it needs some tlc and a refurb from the owners and the garden and baskets had been left to suffer but you know what? I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here this weekend. The staff were worked off their feet and were an absolute credit to the place, they were polite, attentive, friendly and welcoming despite the work level. The food was very good, very quick service, tasty food and enough of it too and again the young waitress worked hard and kept up with all tables needs. The pub had Lilley's rhubarb cider on tap, I'd never heard of it but I have now. Like liquid rhubarb crumble in a glass and with a drop of the old alcohol in it. Recommended. The London based company that owns this pub ought to come and see what a gem they have here, spend a bit of money on the place so it matches the enthusiasm and dedication of the staff team. It'll pay you back if you do.

Good location. Beer good. However food overpriced. Beef rib was mostly fat. Dessert was meant to be S’mores chocolate brownie, with Belgian chocolate sauce, toasted marshmallows, salted caramel sauce, Lotus biscoff biscuit crumbs, served with a red cherry compote and vanilla ice cream - sounds lovely right? Well what I got was a very small piece of chocolate brownie, chocolate sauce, a couple of (non toasted) marshmallows (like the ones you might have on a hot chocolate) and vanilla ice cream. No salted caramel, no cherry compote and no biscoff… all for £6.50… and when asked was everything alright and I mentioned that half of it was missing - still charged me for it… not impressed.

On arrival we were taken back by the smell of dog wee! We quickly went into the restaurant side which smelt damp but better than wee. The bar man abruptly said what do you want not food we've stopped serving we asked if we could have a drink on the many tables available in the restaurant part, again abruptly said no you can't go thru there. To which we said wel go outside in the cold with them..while awaiting the drinks he served another customer Food!! The drinks came dirty glasses and flat beer we swiftly just left. Awful place but Malham itself and all on offer is wonderful.

Horrifically disappointing... Booked for one night to explore Malham Cove and a hiking day. Was looking forward to staying, the photos looked great and the pub really inviting. We arrived around 6pm, didn't initially see the main door and were knocking on a closed door with no answer. Did walk round to see the main entrance and 2 or 3 people were in, told the young lad behind the bar we'd got a reservation and were shown upstairs with a key. We weren't asked our names, and were left at room 4. After 10 mins of trying to get into the room with the key not working, we realised there were occupants in that room, scuttled off and went to go and find the room (9) that was written on the key instead. We didn't feel it necessary to go and ask the chap, as unfortunately his customer service repertoire was sadly lacking as we'd found it ourselves. Opened into the tiniest room going, one bedside table, a stool serving as the other, no bulbs in the bedtop lights and an adequate sized TV. The bed was clean and extremely comfortable, but there was no space to swing a moderately sized cat in. There was a grubby looking kettle atop a small unit, with (as we were later appreciative of) some biscuits. Now, the reservation included breakfast, and we'd also made a dinner booking for that evening separately, for which my partner who had made this booking, had had an email to say there had been a gas leak therefore the kitchen was closed. As the lead booker however, I had no communication of this for the reservation and this would have been a complete surprise had we not made the separate food booking. On our succinctly brief check in we were told there was no hot food for breakfast due to a gas leak, with no explanation of this. The chap -with the personality of a fish- offered no further explanation of this as he took us to out room. We quickly headed out to find food, being a tiny place and were taken pity on by the vegan restaurant Beck Hall where we had a beautiful meal before heading back. Getting ready for a night in, we discovered a dirty shower, mould covering the shower head, filthy shower door, one of which was hanging off, and a toilet seat that was completely free of it's porcelain mount. Not reassured, following a surprisingly good night's sleep we didn't bother to have the emergency toast, cereal and porridge we'd seen on the side on check in and headed out. Check out was an entirely impersonal affair, leaving our key in a Tupperware box on walking out. The free WiFi was so poor that there was no access to anything using a phone, the leaflet about check in had no contact details on, not that we'd have been able to use to speak to anyone, as there is literally no network on some providers, not that we'd have expected a response as the phone had rung out when we'd with tired eyes not seen the main entrance of the pub. There was nobody around regardless. A simple thank you for staying would have sufficed, but this didn't happen. Overall, I would not stay here again, the lack of clarification about the gas leak, no warning about the inability to provide the proper breakfast, and a tired shoddy room were more than an unpleasant taste for what was a first holiday away together. I wouldn't have minded but all the other rooms we passed on leaving looked like palaces in comparison. We're awaiting a response from booking.com following a complaint as to whethee the Buck Inn will be taking accountability for this shonky accommodation.

Went for a pint after a walk with 11 friends. The pub wasn’t busy but the landlord refused to serve us. They had one bitter on tap and it was dreadful. Every other pump turned off. Incredibly rude and disrespectful bar keeper. Clearly don’t want visitors to the pub. Almost next door is the Lister Arms. Much better. Good beer. Lovely service. I would avoid the Buck Inn. Dreadful.

We had 2 nights booked here. Arrived to find the hotel closed. We were told by a local business they had utility issues and hadn’t been opened all week, which was news to us!!! You would have thought they had the decency to contact people who were booked in. We’d had a 2 hour journey to get there. We were lucky the other hotel had availability and found out they’d had issues over the last 6 months. Do not attempt to stay here!!

Terrible service with mediocre food. After a long walk, we were looking forward to a 'rip roaring fire' and somewhere to put our muddy feet. We seen the sign outside and we're relived – however the welcome did not meet the advertisement outside. The bar man was really apathetic and was clearly not interested at all in his job at all. I was standing at the bar for at least five minutes (after walking 7 miles), he walked past me four times without even acknowledging I was there. I had to stop and ask him for an allergen menu, we then waited for ten minutes for him to actually find it. When he took our order he walked off and that was the last we spoke to him until we paid. We had to ask the runner to get cutlery (as did the other customers), the bar keep just vanished! I've seen many things and met many people in hospitality, but never have I witnessed someone who was so apathetic about his job. Management really need to replace their staff, that was shocking! The nachos were lovely, but my chicken was overcooked on the outside and undercooked in the middle. The peas were hard and the whole thing was underwhelming. I didn't eat most of it, and there was no one around to speak to about getting it replaced. I felt nauseous for two hours afterwards. We were really disappointed. Avoid if possible!

Firstly, the servers spilled our drinks on the floor (and themselves), were rude when taking orders, and claimed that the kitchen was busy even though we were the only people in the pub! I assume they just couldn’t be bothered to serve us our food. There was also a severe lack of customer service, and they gave us a very incorrect bill. This is quite frankly embarrassing since the servers were fully grown adults and not some training employees. As for the restrooms, one of the ladies cubicles was unavailable and they weren’t tremendously clean. There was also a lack of paper towels to dry our hands with. The only positive note is that the food was nice. Overall I am disappointed with the pub and I shall NOT be returning. Next time I’ll just go to the Listers!

A large imposing building in the centre of the village. A sign in the main entrance directs dog owners, like us, to another door at the opposite end of the pub. When we arrived around 1pm, it was understandably busy and we had to make do with a table outside at the back. Ordering food and drinks at the bar was quick and easy. Despite the place being busy, we didn’t have a long wait for our food to arrive. I had a perfectly acceptable and tasty hunters chicken with some nice fluffy chips. My vegetarian wife had the earth burger and reported it being very tasty. Other plates we saw being delivered to other customers looked very inviting. The Timothy Taylor Landlord was spot on. Had never had this before but highly recommended. Service was great, from the chap who served behind the bar to the young fella who brought out our food. The pub isn’t the prettiest but it is practical and efficiently served people like us who had just returned from a long walk.

Malham is a lovely Yorkshire village, popular with families and visitors from other countries. The walks in the surrounding countryside are fabulous. However the Buck Inn situated in the centre was disappointing. The main reason for this was the drinking area outside the entrance. It was very shabby strewn with weeds around the old, neglected tables which put us off to the extent that we didn't bother to go in it was so uninviting. Would recommend a good tidy up, plus a few pots of flowers and invest in some new seating. It would make a world if difference. First impressions count for a great deal.

Got an early evening table thinking it would get busy. Expecting friends later. Shortly before they arrived we went to order food. Was told we could not unless we had booked. When they arrived they were told their booking wasn’t right. After threatening to leave (two families of four) we got an order in. Then waited quite a while. Eventually the food came and it was terrible. It was understaffed but not that busy for a Friday night.

Having visited for food several times over the years, the last visit in 2022. I was looking forward to the Sunday Lunch. At £17.50 I was very disappointed at the poor quality of food served this time. I honestly have eaten better school dinners and feel very ripped off. The food was just warm and didn’t taste fresh and almost like it had just been pre cooked and served. The potions of meat were small and vegetables very undercooked. No flavour apart from too much thyme. The whole pub just felt very different and unwelcoming and has lost that cosy countryside pub feel. I wonder if this place has changed hands as cannot understand the drastic change. Not somewhere I would visit again.

Arrived at The Buck early so knew check in wasn’t available until later in the afternoon, asked if we could order coffee however it was said that they did not provide hot drinks through the day. We were directed elsewhere. Later that afternoon we went back to check in only to find the doors locked and another couple waiting outside. We were then let in by another guest. We were trying to locate a staff member for sometime, at this point the words “Fawlty Towers “was being said. Myself and others began to contact numbers given on the website, eventually a staff member appeared behind the bar and said that he had to lock the door as he was short staffed and had to collect staff from the station. We got the key to our room. The hallway and stairs were dirty, we located our room and had trouble unlocking the door so I went and got staff who unlocked it and said others have had trouble with the door too 🤔. We went into the room which I would describe as shabby and grubby, really in need of a makeover. The bed had no headboard, there was remnants of what was a blind over the window as the rail and some cord was still in situ. The cups and spoons on the refreshment tray were in need of a good wash , spoons very tarnished. The room had not been cleaned to a good standard. The shower walls and doors had a mould and mildew problem, the shower head would not stay in place so had to be held by my husband in order for me to get showered. Lovely new towels! We found somewhere else to eat dinner, I couldn’t face anymore disappointment . The breakfast was served at 08.30 until 09.30 . There wasn’t a large selection, the bread was very nice enjoyed the toast and yoghurt. There were no condiments or butter , all had to be asked for. The cooked breakfast was unappetising. On the whole if we had not already paid we would have walked away from the place as would have the other couples , certainly not worth the price paid regardless of the area. The whole place could do with a makeover and website’s that are advertising the place really need to update their photos and perhaps visit the venue as what they are advertising is misleading. An anniversary to remember!

We were really looking forward to a Sunday lunchtime glass of red and a packet of crisps at The Buck after a walk round Malham in the rain. "Which red wines have you got?" we asked."Those" he said pointing to a selection of bottles so far away that we had no chance of seeing what they were. Eventually he went over and read out what was on the labels. We made out choice and he delivered one glass of Malbec - obviously very cheap with a strong taste of vinegar and a WHITE Pinot Grigio. No eye contact, monosyllabic answers and absolutely no interest in serving us at all. We couldn't be bothered to point out his mistake and drank our wine and left. The only saving grace were the crisps - but then you'd have to go some to spoil a bag of Walkers cheese and onion. An unpleasant experience that we won't be repeating any time soon. Apparently he's the new assistant manager so can only hope that he hasn't started as he means to go on.

I work for a brewery and have never known pubs or restaurants to close their bar so they can catch up. Not only that a family of four that sat on the next table arrived later than ourselves but got served after telling ourselves and other customers that the bar was closed! Is it a case of picking and choosing who they would like in their pub, because it certainly felt like it. We love our walks around the area but will not be going back to this pub.

Had a lovely walk today around Maham Cove and Janet’s Foss and at the end of the walk decided to finish off a brilliant day with a cider. We hadn’t eaten all day so took some sandwiches out of our backpacks whilst we waited for someone to come and take our drinks order outside and the manager (who looked like a 20 year old boy in a snooty three piece suit (not very fitting for the area at all)) came over and barked “you can’t eat here”.I asked if we could eat if we also ordered (which we had every intention of doing) and he rudely smirked and snapped “no, we’re not a picnic venue, isn’t that obvious to you”. WOW, just WOW!I don’t know who had upset him but given that pubs are reliant on our custom right now, this is hardly how I expect to be spoken to. He could have said the same thing in a variety of ways which was much more polite.I asked him not to be unnecessarily rude and asked why it was “obvious” when there are no signs, to which he very swiftly shut up.Ofcourse, I put my sandwiches away, as I appreciate and respect rules when they are communicated to me, but what a sour way to end a perfect day because of this persons awful attitude.Far from impressed and I suggest he gets retraining in basic customer service and respect.

Almost forgot to review this place but they deserve a good review because the food was great quality and they were working hard to make everything good after the lockdown lifted on 12th April. We called in here just thinking we might be able to get a bowl of chips. Was surprised to find they had a great menu and even pleased our 2 teenage sons who both have autism are very fussy eaters! We were welcomed straight away, and told how to scan and use the app to check in and order. I had a lovely cider pork belly with mash and black pudding. It was so tasty! They even had a basket of blankets so you could help yourself and keep warm, as we had to eat outside and it was chilly when the sun went in. Amazing little place. I highly recommend The Buck inn if you're passing through Malham.

Living local we have popped into the Buck for either a quick pint, snack or meal in the past. Yesterday's experience has prompted me to write a review as they deserve to be recognised in this very competitive, popular village. As mentioned in other reviews they have good signage and Covid protocols (don't worry if like us you don't have zap codes or order on apps) the friendly staff will take your order! Warm (real fire is a bonus and welcoming) and gives a good atmosphere in the first part of the pub. Great looking menu, we were just looking for a snack not necessary a meal as we were cycling through. Timothy Taylor is always a good pint and we chose the Homemade Fish Finger Sandwich on Granary - well it was massive!, Deep filled with good leaves/tomato onion mix and of course the battered fish was top notch in fantastic quality bread. All very tasty.Service was prompt, friendly (although we didn't chat much to the waitress we heard one give nice advise to a customer on a local attraction) We were impressed and will continue to recommend and certainly be back. Although if coming for a meal next time will bring the car, the climb out or KIrby Malham was slower than normal ! Thank you the Buck for a lovely afternoon - made our day!

Ate here twice whilst staying elsewhere in the village. On both occasions we pre-booked and our table was ready and waiting for us. Covid restrictions are clearly signed and displayed on each table, which was good to see. Each meal we had was excellent quality and good value for money. Service was friendly however a couple of times the drinks delivered were not what was ordered. That being said, we would certainly eat here again and would recommend the food. Being dog friendly was a benefit to us too.

We’ve been here on several occasions when on holiday in the area and have always enjoyed it. This time it wasn’t so good. I know that we’re living in unprecedented times and things are different and difficult. Has this pub changed hands in the last three years? The staff were friendly and efficient. There wasn’t anything wrong with the food, it was just that the sandwiches were filled with salad leaves and chopped tomato and raw onion which I absolutely hate and detracted from the actual filling ordered which was a shame. The atmosphere has always been great but this time I felt we were sitting in the village hall but perhaps that’s just because of the current situation.

We visited here just for drinks on Saturday but food and drinks on Sunday. We sat outside as currently they aren't allowing under 16's inside.Due to Covid, they have a qr code on all the tables and when you scan it, it takes you to the menu and you can place orders for food or drinks (or both). The staff were friendly and all had masks /visors on. Reasonable prices for the location and the food was very nice too.As its a walking destination, they have signs up to say muddy boots and paws welcome. I would definitely return.

They take the COVID-19 precautions seriously here (and rightly so) which means that the atmosphere is a bit laccking, but that's not the pub's fault. The food was all good (a little over-salted) and there was a spelndid selection of beers and wine. plentiful staff who were enthusiastic, if a little disorganised. but all in all I liked it a lot, and it's rightly a popular venue in busy Malham

We arrived as hungry travellers and following the social distancing instructions soon were seated and ordered our food and drinks. A lightening bite of a sandwich was what we needed and we chose ham hock and fish finger. Both were lovely and we would happily recommend either. Just a shame we did not get a choice of thick or thin chips...we got thin, but the thick would have been my choice as they looked nice and chunky. Didn't spoil our sandwich choice!

No kids under the age of 16 allowed inside because of covid so had to sit outside in shade was freezing. They provide no heaters. The sign on the tables asks you to put your left over food in the bins provided. I have never seen such rules in any restaurant since covid. Sunday lunch was poor and smallfor £14, I was expecting chicken supreme with mash and green veg, it came with tagliatelle, I questioned it and was told ‘oh sorry on the app it’s the old menu’ we could only order from the app / no menus were given. I wouldn’t of ordered this had I have known it was a pasta dish. The chicken burger was dry so was left by our teenager. 3 meals and 3 drinks for £45! Over priced for below average food.

Nice spot and a welcome pint after a circular route to Malham Cove. The service was efficient, not overly friendly however I guess they get a fair few visitors every day. The tables on the side are a real sun trap (we were lucky with great weather in September). Whilst a captive audience, it is worth a visit.

Had two dinners and some drinks in this pub during our stay in Malham. Found it very cosy with the fireplaces and the stuff friendly and welcoming. We found they tried their very best with Covid measures too.Food on both occasions was delicious, the fish and chips portion more than generous. Would in particular recommend the puddings: both the crumble which is homemade in the premises and the sticky toffee that comes from a local company were to die for.

After walking for 2-3 hours around Malham Cove, we entered the Buck Inn for a drink and lunch. It was slightly dark in the lounge area but it didn't detract from decent grub; fish finger sandwich and mushroom soup.

We stopped for lunch before a walk to Malham Cove. Beautiful building and tasteful decor with lovely atmosphere. Very strict hygiene and distancing measures in place, we were well informed about the one way system by friendly staff. We ordered and paid online from our table (Caesar salad, soup of the day with a roll and thick cut chips); the food arrived in about 20 minutes and was delicious and fresh. A perfect place for a bite to eat.

My partner and I popped in for a late lunch after a 9 mile walk in the area. We were greeted inside and advised to go wait in a square area in near the bar for someone to seat us, which didn’t take long. COVID measures were in place (only 1 person per toilet, etc) but we were a little surprised that the waiters didn’t have masks/visors on. Nevertheless all the staff were attentive and friendly. We both opted for burger meals and they were outstanding. The chips in particular were lovely - must’ve been triple cooked. Would definitely return for the food. Thanks again.

Visited with family yesterday. Sat in beer garden as we had children under 16.Was told to order drinks through app on phone at our table which we fully understood due to Covid-19 guidelines. Tried to speak to waitress to get some assistance she was quite rude and abrupt with us telling us to go inside and speak to the person on reception as she could not help. We just got up and left...not good customer service at all!

Some Covid-19 measures were being enforced but had not been thought through.Greeted and told to stand in a designated square and wait to be served... officious bar maid asked what we wanted... we asked what was being served... bar maid presented a menu... and then told us we couldn’t leave the square to get the menu. There wasn’t any recording of details for track and trace purposes... maybe the special isolation square was their answer... but it didn’t work for me... customers like to be able to peruse the product.... even if only on a list (a blackboard on a wall would be a start).

We booked here for drinks and an evening meal after our three peaks walk. Friendly welcome by the lady at the front and we were soon shown to our table. Drinks soon followed and the food order went in. The food was really nice and just what I needed. I had the lamb shank in red wine gravy. Staff throughout were friendly and attentive even with the new guidelines. An enjoyable evening.

Visited with my family today. Surprised by the "no children inside or in beer garden" sign however I have since read in the reviews the reasoning behind this which is understandable. Excellent Covid 19 safety guidelines in place. Staff were very polite.Sadly the food was a disappointment. For the chicken and bacon sandwich they use a sandwich filler mix. Definitely not what you expect when paying £9. Husband had a burger which although looked nice, lacked any flavour.Such a shame.

Just to say, big signs outside saying that under 16s aren’t allowed inside or even in the beer garden (just in a few jammed outside areas next to the road) seem both unfriendly and really quite unusual for a family tourist area in 2020. We saw that, commented on how poor it was, and walked another 50 yards to the Lister Arms for really nice food and very friendly staff. I guess the busy-ness of amalgam means the Buck can get away with that kind of attitude, but I wouldn’t want to give them my custom even without the kids in tow.

Started off by being seated by the friendliest waitress ever. Apparently she lives in the village. She was absolutely lovely and made us feel welcome right away. She knew the menu back to front and recommended dishes to us. The smoked trout scotch egg was a triumph. I’ve mentioned that today to a couple of foodie friends and each has had their mouth hanging open at the thought. And rightly so. It was excellent. Mains, 24 hour slow cooked rib... wow.. lived up to the hype fantastic. Salt cod and chips... not quite. I’ve eaten salt cod a lot and honestly I didn’t think this was salt cod. Sorry if it was, but to me it was just a piece of normal cod. It was very nice all the same, but I know salt cod. I’m a little bit disappointed that I was served the meal with the possibility that the chef thought I wouldn’t notice. Anyway, it was nice fish and chips and the service was outstanding. I would definitely go again.

We were staying in Malham over the weekend, the Covid set up was well thought out. The meals on both nights were excellent, we really enjoyed the pies but they seem to have changed from the bradbury TV program. We had pies, trio of sausages and fish and chips, all excellent and could eat them again right now.The staff were all excellent, it was a busy weekend in the day with day tourists and they did very well. The buck is dog friendly and we had a nice table next to the fire where the dog could chill out.

All the staff are friendly and welcoming. The room was large and spacious, decorated nicely and in keeping with the Inns age. Lovely modern furniture blended in thoughtfully. The bed was comfy but creaky, lovely duvet and bedding. A double shower in a nice size room. Extras in the room were dressing gowns, bottles of water ,chocolates, coffee and tea facilities even with biscuits, hair dryer, hot water bottle, and a fan heater to complement the central heating. (We were in the superior room, room 4)The full hotel/pub/ rooms were extremely clean. The full English breakfast cooked by the chef both days was very good, served by smiling staff. We had sirloin steak one night the other night we had haddock and chips, both meals were delicious. A lovely open fire and a nice relaxing atmosphere. It is dog friendly in every way and Charlie the Dalmatian was made very welcome, even his own sausage at breakfast which went down very well. Towels for drying the dogs off in the hall was a good idea.Just across the road there is a safe off lead walk to give your pets a run in the field, walking on a decent path while they are running about. The shallow stream is also a good idea for the dogs having a quick paddle to wash them off before returning to the pub.I would recommend it and hope to return.Fantastic walking and scenery.

Unfortunately, the worst meal I've ever had at a Weatherspoons. Gourmet steak for me and char grilled chicken for my wife. Both sent back as being tough and uneatable. I suspect these had been pre-cooked and warmed up. The replacements were marginally better but not much. Very dissapointed.

We came here not knowing any review or the place itself. We came on a Thursday evening about 6pm, were greeted politely and shown to a table. The server provided us with menus and came back five minutes later to take our order. Prices are reasonable, portions are a good size and the service and food were excellent. I don't always believe the odd negative review of Fish n Chip Restaurants as not all positive reviews are recorded, just the negative ones. We will definitely be returning when we are in the area again.

We booked a table here the other night for 5.30 and we had the fish pie and lamb shank and a pint. Food arrived in good time. The portion sizes were huge and very tasty and only just fit on the plates. The food was definitely warm enough as it took a while to cool to eating temperature. The Fish pie had lots of fish and prawns in it aswell as a really delicious sauce and creamy mashed potato. The lamb shank was large and very tasty. Nice friendly staff. Very reasonable prices and good beer. Decor had a nice old fashioned pub charm which unfortunately you don't see anymore with bistro ponsy pubs everywhere. Not sure where all the negative reviews of this pub are from, probably by miserable customers who expect royal service and silver tableware but don't want to pay the price for it. Would highly recommend this family run pub.

Wow! A lovely traditional pub in the heart of Skipton. We popped in a for drink before finding somewhere to eat. As we enjoyed our drinks there was a steady stream of locals coming in for food so we decided to stay and eat. There was a good selection on the menu, including specials. The food was excellent, freshly cooked hearty food with generous portions. The staff were freindly and attentive and we will certainly be back next time we are in Skipton.
