Lovely pud, always busy, but there lies the problem. The staff are inexperienced, rude and very condescending and probably shouldn’t be customer facing!

i booked online as i knew it would be busy Good Friday at Easter, and im so glad i did it was busy. our table was ready and the staff came quickly to serve us with a menu and ask for drinks the food came it was all hot and nicely served and tasted really nice if we were in Skipton again we would visit for food again nice staff good location and brilliant food with a good choice on menu

Really hectic place , cramped , dirty and noisy. Despite booking a table placed in a awful room doghairs all over the seats, meals were pre warmed very dry and steak kidney pies bought in not good wouldn't recommend

We walked Past and it was very busy so we got a table outside as full inside, it was a nice garden area. We both ordered the steak and ale pie, when it came it was only like warm I didn’t ask to get it warmed up as didn’t fancy a microwave two minute warm up. The pastry was hard as well it didn’t feel fresh, the veg was awful whole tiny carrots with ends on and green beans not topped and tailed and potato wedges, a bit odd with meat pie. We were disappointed my pie as home is 10 times better. The staff were efficient and friendly. Definitely wouldn’t recommend

We’d booked on a busy Saturday evening and were grateful to be offered a table slightly further away from the more vibrant bar area. Great range of drinks and the food was excellent - it’s clear why they’ve had great reviews. We went with the burger and pie, and followed up with an apple crumble and treacle sponge, all of which we really enjoyed. The service was excellent, and all the staff were incredibly warm and friendly, despite being busy. This was a great find, definitely one to visit if you’re in the area and want great pub food in a welcoming atmosphere.

We have passed this pub hundreds of times when in Skipton and after reading reviews on TripAdvisor decided it was time to make a visit. It is a very well run bar with a great ambience and excellent staff. We ordered our drinks and then chose our food. There's a great selection of meals on offer, all excellent value. We shared the veggie flat bread and chips which was plenty for us and was really tasty. The bread had a lovely char grilled flavour. We already had a meal booked elsewhere for the evening but we will definitely eat here on our next visit. There's plenty of outdoor seating too.

We were passing through Skipton, and stumbled over this lovely friendly Inn. We only had a quick drink, but the food coming out also looked amazing! The whole interior ouses charm, and is well worth a visit when in Skipton!

Visited here for an evening meal. We opted for the two for £24 which also included their large meals so we opted for large fish and chips and large bangers and mash. The fish was better that at the seaside, nice crispy batter and flaky fish. Staff were very friendly and the pub had a good vibe. Would definitely visit again when in Skipton

I had a lovely lunch with my teenage son. The food was excellent, great quality and good value for money. The service was first class (food delivered within 15 mins and staff were both helpful and polite). I loved the atmosphere in the pub. I would highly recommend the Cock and Bottle for a lunchtime time meal.

The food and atmosphere were excellent, friendly and attentive staff in an old fashioned but well kept pub. The guiness was as good as it should be and all reasonably priced. The Lamb and rosemary pie was delicious. The proper fish finger butty was excellent.

Booked in for a meal with my wife and two teenage children on Saturday evening. The service was excellent: friendly, quick and lots of smiles. The food was truly excellent: one Caesar salad, one Halloumi salad, lots of chips, one Ploughman’s and one sirloin steak. All cooked to perfection and big portions. I had Treacle sponge for dessert ~ delicious. The ale was spot on, the rugby was on the tv, the bill was extremely reasonable … need I say more?! Definitely a five-star experience all round! Huge thanks to all the staff 🙏🏼

A real hidden gem of a pub. Our third time here for lunch and it never disappoints! It has a really great feel to it but its staff, service and food is what really is outstanding. Today we had the Clucker burger with extra meat and the cajun chicken flatbread with fries. Delicious 😋

This pub never disappoints. I don’t write many reviews but these are the best burgers I have ever had, and they now sell neck oil. 👍👍👍. Table service was great, steady and attentive without being pushy. Brilliant. The only improvement would be the chips. As good as the chips were the burgers deserved hand cut triple cooked chips. Visited on a Thursday evening. Despite the limitations of Covid the welcome was warm and the service spot on.Sharing plank as a starter for 3 then a couple of burgers and a veggie moussaka. All the food was excellent, lovely crisp batter on the starter and onion rings, burgers definitely a cut above in quality. Generous portions left 2/3 of the party unable to finish.

Meal was good. Tuna sandwich on warm bread with salad, served on a wooden floorboard type plate. And portion of chips.Plus cola and tea. There were 2 of us. Cost £22.50. Paid by card, cash also taken.Sat outside in beer garden. Under massive umbrella with heaters on.Staff polite and efficient.Atmosphere OK / normal. Staff wore masks. Everything clean. Popped in for a drink had to give details as required by Covid regulations. Social distancing was in place with hand sanitiser in several places. Exceptionally friendly staff and very attentive service, plus a good choice of beers.

We nipped for a quick drink but was very impressed how organised this place was (with covid regs). Someone took our details on arrival. We were seated (we chose outside) table service, friendly staff and one in one out in toilets which were lovely and clean.

We called here earlier this week at lunchtimefor a drink and we were made to feel so welcome we booked the only available table for a meal that night.The food was excellent as were the cask ales. I had the fish which was massive and as white as snow.The COVID measures in place were very good, plenty of sanitizer and our details were taken for track and trace purposes.Would highly recommend.

Had an absolutely fabulous meal here, the social distancing in place was great, the landlady and staff were brilliant, would recommend this place to everyone- 10 stars isn’t sufficient. We have been here on two occasions this week, good Covid measures in place. We only had drinks both times, would have gone a third time but was not allowed in as they were full.

Still wary about going out to eat and drink but it couldn't have been more comfortable here. Proper precautions taken in regard of social distancing, hand sanitiser, and one way systems will make the most nervous of post-lockdown diners feel at ease. Oh, and the food and drink was really good too. Finally, very impressed by the commitment from the young people who were waiting on and running things. Despite the restrictions, the service was very quick and efficient and the staff were absolutely lovely. Really well done everyone and would definitely visit again.

Absolutely love this pub and will recommend it to anyone I ever meet. I have gone to this pub many times and never once had a bad word to say the staff are always lovely and always ready to help when needed. Met with a couple of friends midweek for a meal. They are offering a reduced menu because of the situation but the food was delicious as ever, and very good portions. We had booked online but noticed other people just turning up. Very well organised with regards to COVID, you enter at the front and wait to be seated (indoors or outdoors). Had light lunch here Thursday 18th. Both real ale and cheese/picke sandwich/chips were excellent. Service also both friendly and efficient. They have an extensive menu at really great prices. No doubt I shall return for an evening meal. Absolutely superb pub.

The locals say its one of the best pubs in the town, and would probably agree. Always looks busy and have had a few beers in there before. Luckily got a table on a busy Quiz night. So the service was good and kitchen got the food out in good time. If you want a hearty meal then this place is for you. My colleague had the Fish & Chips, and oh boy not one fish but two! All the food was excellent and that included the local beers. So this is a place I would go back to again!

We have been in skipton for the week on a break and have visited cock and bottle daily for a drink 10/10 , this evening being our last we decided to eat, lasagne and liver and onions. Open arrival all positive, the liver and onions was only tepid. Lasagne def homemade different I would say, 1 layer off lasagne heavy on the mozzerella.wouldnt have complained on this, but husband passed his around hs plate as not very warm not to mention piping hot as it should have been. Discretely told the staff the issue and said they would refund as said he couldn’t eat it. We waited 10 minutes no one came, so we left, make your own judgment. Sorry guys.

Took advantage of the buy one get one free offer on mains during January and were very glad we did. Four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Generous portions, friendly staff and a very welcoming wood burner.

Dined out this week to test the new menu and it was spectacular, my partner had the lamb and rosemary pie and I had a burger that was huge, it came with fries and onion rings I only just managed to finish it and with a 241 offer it was smiles all round, would definitely recommend it and can't wait to try the rest of the menu.

I love a dog friendly pub and it was full of four legged friends who was all so very well behaved.

Myself and my boyfriend visited the Cock and Bottle earlier this month whilst on holiday. We both got the burger/drink for £10 deal. I can’t remember which one I got but it had two burger patties, chicken breast, and shredded pork on top with onion rings and fries. Amazing for £10!!! I couldn’t finish it, but I was warned. My boyfriend said his burger was the best he had ever had (and he is very serious about his burger rankings). Brilliant! Great service too.

I dined here last month. Had the mozzerella sticks to start and then the pulled pork flatbread. The starter was delicious and the flatbread was nice. It WAS slightly dry, but that is my own fault. The staff checked up on me on a regular basis and I could have said that it was a little dry, but I didn't want to be a pain. However this won't stop me from returning. Staff was lovely and so friendly. Also it was dog friendly which is a bonus too!

A pub that has Theakston’s best bitter as a regular beer with 3 guests serving the most amazing food: what’s not to like? Sadly, the Old Peculiar wasn’t ‘ready’ so I wasn’t able to partake of my favourite brew so will have to visit Skipton again.

Visited as a family get together to celebrate our son Joseph getting a job as a Physiotherapist with West Yorkshire Health Trust on completion of his Masters degree. Decent food with the two who had the steak and ale pie raving about it, which backs up the other reviews on here. The rump steak and burgers were also very good. The staff were very friendly particularly our waitress Georgia who was a lovely friendly lass who looked after us really well.

It’s pub food but it’s good value for money. I enjoyed it. The service was very friendly. The pub is very clean and I loved how it was presented. If your in Skipton give it a visit. It’s opposite the big sports shop.

Called in here for drinks when exploring town. It is a really lively, friendly quaint olde worlde pub that has good bar and great range of food dishes. Staff were great and it is clearly a place that caters for locals and tourists alike. Definitely to be recommended.

The title says it all, four of us visited on an evening in October. A lovely friendly greeting from the staff behind the bar, each of us made the same choice, the Steak & Ale pie served with skin on chips & veg, individual gravy boats which is good as you use as much or as little as you like. The pie was full of steak & a few small silver skin onions, the pastry was so crisp with a lid will definitely go again next time we are in Skipton.

We enjoyed our visit to this friendly pub for lunchtime drinks. The beer went down a treat and there was friendly banter going on around us, which made for a pleasant atmosphere. It was better inside than it looked from the outside!

We visited the pub whilst on holiday in the Yorkshire Dales and spent the day in Skipton exploring the area. We decided to have lunch at the Cock and Bottle, which was very good. They have a great selection of ale and beers. The staff are friendly and the food was excellent, which was freshly cooked and plenty of it. Facilities are good and prices are reasonable.

Called in for lunch on Saturday. Placed our order when the pub got really busy. Our food arrived unfortunately mine wasn’t quite what I had ordered. My husbands steak pie was excellent. By the time my food arrived back the medium steak was very well done clearly had sat under the hot plate too long. A lady who I assume was the manageress realised what had happened and refunded the money. Excellent customer service and we will return when next in the area.

We arrived in Skipton in the evening needing food and found this traditional pub. The music on the duke box was just right for our age group, the beer (Theakstons and Hobgoblin) were fab not horribly cold as is the modern trend. We had Liver and Onions and Gammon and both were very good value for money.

Had this pub recommend to us & it doesn't fail to deliver. Friendly staff and atmosphere, decent priced drinks and food. We both had the liver and onions with veg & mash served in a Yorkshire pudding! Very nice food but couldn't finish it all (And I've been called greedy more than twice) in one sitting!
