The Mustard Pot in Leeds

I love this pub but it's so noisy the background music is too loud. They turned it up whilst we were sat chatting. Had to move to the beer garden to hear ourselves think.

This restaurant has a new menu. Unfortunately, a lot of the items were not present at lunchtime. The food itself was reasonable and a good portion. There were a lot of vegetarian items available. One small point is that the men’s toilet did not have a functioning dryer and there was nowhere to dry hands.

Not as family friendly as it used to be which is a shame because there are not many truly family places to eat around chapel allerton. Bit of an awkward welcome from the new owner, made to feel a bit like a nuisance for coming in on my own with a baby so decided to try somewhere else. Sure this is a new chapter for the mustard pot focussed on events and such which I wish them the best in, but please be a little more family friendly during the daytime.

Had the most delicious Sunday roast here recently! So fresh, piping hot and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. Kids absolutely loved the toy area and it was so lovely to enjoy a meal without them saying ‘can we go now?’ 60 times an hour. Loved all the cute decor and the brownies were to die for. Good value for all and can’t wait to come back !

Sunday lunch, 4 of us, 1 meal 10 mins after the others, beef tough, all meals cool (not cold) just about bearable. On previous occasion was lovely. It was very very busy. Staff were absolutely lovely. I’ll probably not book again in a hurry.

very disappointing lunch. dry chicken burger, lettuce leaves with no dressing. dried out fries and a pot of mayo which did not look fresh. 5 people who were also not impressed with their order. lovely setting and friendly staff but the food overall was poor. Could do much better!

Really lovely place, food was excellent, really good service too despite being a really busy sunday evening, would recommend booking for a Sunday roast, fresh ingredients and a very generous portion, we had the pork and it was massive. For the price I don’t think the Sunday dinner was worth it. I visited 3 years ago and was much nicer so not sure what has happened since. I have rated a 3 as the portion sizes were generous and you actually get a decent amount of meat compared to a carvery ect. The staff and atmosphere were also nice and I would come back for a drink but not to eat. There was barely and gravy and I had to ask for more which I was given. The lunch itself had no flavour at all and due to this I left a big amount which I was disappointed at due to the price been more than your standard Sunday lunch. Due to how quick the lunch came out it seems that the majority is already pre cooked and reheated. I think more effort needs to go into the lunch to warrant the price or reduce prices to reflect what you are serving.

I've had alot of Sunday lunches around Leeds.. the beef was really really good. Really good for families. Would definitely recommend!

Went with my husband for some belated anniversary drinks- what a great vibe. Everything was perfect. Perfect atmosphere, friendly staff, lovely setting. So lovely we had to extend our babysitter to stay longer. Can’t wait to go back. Keep doing what you’re doing- it’s hard to find somewhere that ticks all the boxes and Jodie and team have it nailed! Can’t wait to get back!

We came for a Sunday roast and while the staff were very friendly we left disappointed. The vegetables had clearly been sat out and reheated, as had the Yorkshire pudding - made worse by the fact that there was hardly any gravy. Granted, we could have asked for more but by that point we weren’t bothered about finishing the food. The cheesy leeks were also very watery. On the plus side, the beef was perfectly cooked but the sides made the meal really disappointing and absolutely not worth the price. The meal arrived less than 5 minutes after we ordered and while I appreciate quick service that’s too quick to have had any real care put into it. Unfortunately we’re unlikely to return which is a shame as it’s a lovely pub and the atmosphere is nice but it’s just very overpriced for the quality of the food.

Just as welcoming for me and my baby during the day, as for me and my friends in the evening. There aren't many places that can manage both but the Pot are doing a great job!

We had our daughters 2nd Birthday in the Colman Room. It was perfect for a family gathering, staff were very attentive, food was delicious and the room itself was perfect. We have had many meals in the restaurant so knew it would be good and it met all our expectations

We went to the Mustard Pot on Sunday 11th after my grandaughters birthday party There was a mixture of family and friends plus children The meals were pre ordered and were the desserts When it came to the desserts they said we had 15 mins to leave the table as other people needed the table we still had not had dessert Quite a few people had pre ordered cheesecake they said they had none left So they had to order other desserts When it came to paying they refused to let people pay for what they had eaten and also refused cash We have been here a few times with family and there has never been any issues I understand it is under new management Well I am afraid I am not impressed !

Fantastic pub offering great food. We went for lunch today, the food was lovely with vegan options. The staff were really friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend, great food, great service a lovely location and atmosphere. The icing on the cake is that it is dog friendly as well.

My sister and I came in for the breakfast, we had the full english & waffle stack, both were absolutely delicious!! The presentation was lovely matching the cozy friendly vibe inside. Visited The Mustard Pot following family member's recommendation. Fortunately had previously booked for Sunday teatime visit. Place was extremely busy, (often a good sign), but was warm and inviting with a very good atmosphere. Staff were friendly and attentive and service was excellent. Menu was sufficient for a Sunday, good selection but not too expansive. Pricing was also reasonable. Food was of very good quality, still hot when served and didn't have to wait very long to be served after placing order. Would highly recommend to anyone and will absolutely be visiting again.

The MP is so family friendly. I came in for breakfast with a group of other mums and babies earlier in the week, and the groom was delicious and the service was so warm. I returned with a neighbour for an early evening drink on Friday, and the atmosphere was lovely. Feels like a real community pub in the best possible way!

I visit regularly both during the day with friends and my little boy that’s 1YO and on an evening for food & drinks with my partner. The changes since the pub has been taken over were very needed! The new landlady has created something that’s not only family but community friendly. The small play area means I can chat with friends whilst my little boy engages in play & socialises, the cakes are delicious and a very welcomed addition to the morning coffee trip! The evenings are SO much more inviting with a lovely atmosphere for me and my partner to enjoy drinks & yummy food! The constant change to the menu is great too, meaning there is always something for everyone every time you visit! We had only visited The Mustard Pot twice in the 6 years we had lived in Chapel Allerton & now visit at least once a week!!

What a breath of fresh air to the Chapel Allerton area this new take over has been. As a local family we often struggle to find places to take children. We have been to the Mustard Pot multiple times over the years and have really noticed the regulars/ older generations discomfort in being around young children. With the new play area and family friendly events happening there, we can say that our experience is a far more welcomed one these days and we intend to return regularly. Our children love the play area and we love the wine 🍷

This is more of a big cafe-come-crèche. Not a pub like it used to be. Popped in for a drink twice. I appreciate the idea but unless you like kids scrambling everywhere then it isn’t for you.

My partner had the chickpea burger which was nice our other family member had a fish sandwich which was good I had the chicken supreme which was dry and such a small portion for the price I would not recommend that meal at all service was slow too for a week day

Apart from a delay with the desert the Mustard Pot is exactly as you’d expect from a reasonably priced restaurant on a Sunday lunch time. The food was ok but not startling; it had a good range of vegan options. What stood out was our experience with a young waitress called Abby; she was nothing short of fantastic. Her ability to deal with the vagaries of a 3 yo was exceptional. Describing a fried fish fillet as a large fishfinger was genius. She fixed the desert problem when 2 other members of the staff couldn’t. Throughout she was charming - anyone who employs this young lady should be proud. In summary a place that did what it said on the tin - but has a real gem amongst the staff.

I was a little concerned about our visit after reading the reviews - but wow, what a wonderful meal and enjoyable experience. The food was beautifully cooked and well presented. The wine was chilled to perfection and the coffee made just as requested. A number of reviewers mentioned loud music - this was absolutely not the case. It was a great pub with superb food and fast and efficient service.

This was my preferred pub in Chapel Allerton, as a local I don’t expect to pay prices more than in the city centre. I’m really disappointed that this has been turned into a kids play area. I would love to spend my money here, however, I just simply can’t afford it. The prices seem to be going up and up. What are you doing to make this a local pub? I won’t be returning until it becomes more affordable and more like a pub than a village hall. Disappointing at best. I thought the previous landlady was bad with the amount of kids, but this one is even worse. It’s such a shame.

Classy to tacky in a few short weeks. Old photographs of the locale have been replaced by 'Poundland' pictures. The cosy vibe has been dumbed down with tasteless decor elements and over loud musak, inhibiting conversation. There is a nearby alternative venue which suddenly feels much more attractive. Bye bye Mustard Pot. What a shame !

Used to like going to meet friends, drinks, lunch and to chat. The last twice I've been loud music has been blaring out, very off-putting and annoying. Loads of really tasteless bright 'art' ? now adorns the walls. Not sure I want to return. Shame, it was my preferred local.

Portions were a bit stingy. A few of us went for roast beef, which was one slice of beef cut into two smaller pieces (there wasn't loads of veg either). From personal experience of having Sunday lunch in various other places in Leeds, I'm used to much bigger portions. To be fair, the beef was very nice (just not enough of it). One of my other friends went for a chicken salad (I think) which she said wad shy on the chicken front. We did feed this back to a member of the serving team.

Very nasty! Had a fish and chips- extremely greasy and and flavourless, could tease the oil for next two days after my visit! That is 3rd time I tried something else and each time I was very disappointed! Looks like its the time for some changes! Also the prices are absolutely crazy! Can get cheaper meal at the dakota hotel in Leeds. Never again

The Mustard Pot has been a firm favourite of ours since graduation days (longer ago than we'd like to admin!) so when it came to finding a venue for my 40th celebrations, I knew it would be top of the list. Nicola was incredibly helpful right from the start and adjusted to all my requirements. All dietary needs were met and the venue was ideal for a large party of adults and children. We were in the marquee but the children had free rein of the whole garden! On the day itself all the staff were incredibly accommodating and helpful, even packing up the leftover food to take home! The food itself was delicious - as always! We had the BBQ package and everybody raved about how good the burgers were. Thank you for making the day so special for all of us, we'll be back again soon!

When charging £13.50 for a burger, providing quality condiments is essential. The cheap nasty ones that the mustard poor pot provide, ruin any of their expensive burgers. Really very silly and thoughtless cost cutting.

We were welcomed right from the start. This place just makes you feel good. The staff are wonderful and we didn’t feel like a burden even in these exceptionally busy times. Just brilliant.
