The best restaurants serving British food in Yorkshire and The Humber

I'd booked a table and checked twice, butvwhen we got there we weren't booked in. Plenty of tables free which was strange on a Saturday night as it's only tiny. We were sat next to a curtained off area which the staff kept going past us and into. Friend had to ask for water twice, no mashed potato at 6pm, soup tasted like tinned, ordered 2 cocktails which never came and when queried were told, " I only take the orders, out of my hands". Didn't stay for dessert. Very disappointing and won't be going again.

We had a few drinks with partners dad, it cost £17.50 for 1 pint of carling, pint of bitter and pink gin with lemonade. Nice pub, landlord was very welcoming, be nice to go back again. But definitely changing my choice of drink x

On arrival the place looks very appealing and an extensive menu ( not cheap ) Unfortunately the quality of the food is not the best , which would not reflect the prices as its not the cheapest. Bread was cheap , eggs were watery The staff are not the friendliest either. We had a sickness bug the same night and I wasn't sure if it came from the same place ( I visited with my sister and 18 month old ) Anyway a week later I returned with my partner and dog just had a cake and drink. The same night and day after we both had a dodgy stomach and I'm wondering if it's from the same cafe ? I'm not 100% sure but I won't visit again now

Had an absolutely outstanding carvery here. The chef carving the meat was so friendly and generous with the portions. The carvery is fantastic value for money and it was unlimited so had to go up for seconds! Would definitely recommend.

Didn't eat, so I can't rate the food. Great friendly atmosphere. Staff are really friendly and polite.

As a drinker it's not the pace to be on a Sunday 👎

Food looks good from the outside but tasteless and greasy / fatty Onion rings dripping with oil. Somewhat undercooked. Garrison Burger extremely greasy and over cooked unseasoned Burger contained chorizo which had been burnt to a crisp and still sent out to my table. As photographed. Bun was dry and chewy (stale) With the burger named after the venue, I expected nice food. Coleslaw was chewey making me think it’s been sat around a while Portion sizes were generous, but I’d rather quality over quantity. Venue decor is dated and needs refreshing, but overall pretty clean. Bathroom was again dated in need of refreshing. Floor visually dirty at time of visit Good selection of beers, stunning building exterior. Old till system meant receiving my refund in cash and waiting around. Burger £14.50

Fish was small for the price, not cooked to order, was very greasy - I would aviod... other reviews seem to show the same view - most likely a sinking ship, just cashing on the tourist trade, who will never return again.

Bought a £8 fish special terrible value tiny amount of chips complete rip off.

Wonderful pub. So friendly. Good pint. Excellent food . 2 mins off A1M but you’d never know. Thank you to Clare and team for making us so welcome. Can’t wait to come back. Trev, Sue, Pete, Jo

Food was lovely. Service was excellent our waitress Alice was really attentive and is a credit to your establishment!

Nice range of ales to choose from at a decent price. Ideal for quick drink before train travel.

Probably the best Sunday lunch i've had in a long time.

Nice place for a decent pint and day time chill. Was going to try, the Vocation Ale. The bar lady said do u want to try before u buy. Which I did and not my type. However I went for the Theaksons. Excellent pint well kept.

Great pub, one of the best, but too expensive for me as a casual attendee. £4.80 for the cheapest real ale pint. If you like your music, it great. Told by staff, higher prices pay for bands. Sign of a changing Leeds City Centre. Bought just one fine pint.
