Great pub in a fantastic location - had a great time

Standard Wetherspoons pub. Fairly clean, usual food and drink options, free WiFi. Wheelchair/disability friendly in terms of access, entrance is right next to the disabled parking at the Xscape.

Have you started letting dogs in the outdoor area. We were turned away but today 2 or 3 were sat with dogs

I came in with my partner, Spoons what can go wrong here it’s the same all over the country, or at least that’s what I thought. Upon entering the spoons we struggled for 10-15 minutes to even find a table clean enough to sit at, even though the restaurant wasn’t close to capacity. This put me off at first and I thought imagine how dirty the parts we can’t see must be if they are willing to leave the front of the restaurant in this state (food smashed into carpets sauces and salt all over tables with mashed up bits of food🤮) After a while I asked a staff member to wipe down a table for us as we have been waiting a long time and it’s off putting for us to eat around, he sighed rolled his eyes and said fine which table is it. I showed the employee (named Sam) to the table and as he was wiping it he told me that it wasn’t even a mess. I don’t know if the guy was having a bad day don’t know if he is just like that (which if it is he needs a different type of job) in the end we got a drink and we left without food. Probably to get slagged off by Sam about the fact we said it put us off our food and then never ordered, as though it wasn’t his behaviour and lack of cleaning that pushed us out of the door in the first place.

The service from this place is despicable and the shift supervisor Sam was extremely rude

I'm officially bowing out after witnessing Sam's diabolical shenanigans at The Winter Seam. His behavior reached new levels of pettiness when a harmless joke at our table triggered a full-blown vendetta. Instead of diffusing the situation, Sam escalated it by isolating our group—an uncalled-for move that bordered on theatrical cruelty. When a friend politely asked about job opportunities, he simply cut off our table, as if dismissing our genuine interest was his personal mission. Frankly, Sam's manipulative antics and utter disregard for basic customer service have convinced me that it's time to seek a venue where respect and decency still matter.

usually a decent pub but had the misfortune of Sam serving us, completely rude and did not make us feel welcome in the slightest. food and drinks were decent but his attitude put a left us unhappy.

Cheap and cheerful, and good quality for the price. Friendly staff and good service.

Disgusting food ice cold chips burnt fish , my 2 year old couldn’t even eat it. Had about 4 chips on the plate the woman there with dark black hair was very very rude told me my refund would go back on and it’s been a month and still no money back. I will never return.

Smallest burger you ever seen it was rubbish chip so small portions won't return really bad service staff rude not a clue when delivery of food

Lots of choice in food and drink, good prices, and the quality was excellent. Orders were served quickly and a great choice of indoor and outdoor seating. Will definitely make this a regular venue in future.

Really enjoyed my veggy breakfast but for one thing. Not near enough butter. The slice that came with the breakfast had none at all, and one tub lurpak for 2slices with the tea and toast. Is a bit pathetic, had to go ask for more.

We visited the pub as part of a group in the evening and upon entering felt incredibly unwelcome. As someone who works in hospitality myself I can understand the frustration when a large group walks in on a relatively quiet night. However, one team member behind the bar very loudly voiced their frustrations to their colleagues who were clocked out drinking at the bar. This felt unprofessional and made it so I could immediately tell we weren’t wanted. Some of the group ordered food which appeared quickly in the typical “spoons” fashion. Admittedly one or two of the group weren’t on their best behaviour and, without evidence the staff falsely accused one of the group of “throwing himself down the stairs” when nothing of the sort actually occurred. At this point they decided to cut off the table. Instead of seeking out a lead guest in the group they stood in front of the table and shouted it as if telling off children. This was demeaning and rude and the team member didn’t handle that situation correctly. The accused guest at the table proceeded out the manager to resolve this, who admitted that they had a problem with the “whole table”. To group all guests together when there’s such a large group felt like a move to just get us to leave. Clearly some conflict resolution staff training required at this pub. Will not be returning. 1-star.

I ordered a baked potato with roasted veg! Instead I got a baked potato with spicy peppers! I don't do spicy foods it plays havoc with my mouth and digestion! Since when are peppers classed as vegetables they are a fruit! Hay wetherspoons that's classed as false advert! You need to alter your menus or put proper vegetables with it and deliver what you advertised! Fat chance there then! Plus it doesn't mention spice! ☹️ One of the few foods I can eat turned into a nightmare.... what happened to tuna mayo anyway.... very disappointed😞

Food is good value but not great. This is typical of modern British pub food fayre these days. Not expensive and good value but don't expect a lot. The breakfasts are much better value to be fair and fairly good for the money but dinner is functional only.

Just your average Wetherspoons. You know what you are getting.

Came in for dinner ordered the brunch breakfast came to our table very Luke warm was not worth the price 11.49 I have been to Witherspoon in other places unfortunately this is coming last we even had to clear our own table was just full of plates .. service was just ok .I am sorry IAM just been honest

Dirty chaos! Cheap drinks but it felt like a school canteen that hadn't been cleaned. It relies on the footfall of xscape, you wouldn't choose to go there, it's peoples only option

Ordered panini ( ham cheese bacon) the bacon was truly raw inside .

Went for drinks with a couple of ex work colleagues for a catch up.

Food is hit and miss, once had burgers which was absolutely rank and could of knocked someone out if I threw it at them. Atmosphere is friendly but they've crammed tables absolutely everywhere so it's not very spacious and feels quite cramped, especially if you are trying to get to the bar. As usual for a weather spoons enjoy your journey to find the toilets 😂 especially when intoxicated

Quite a large establishment. I utilised the Wetherspoons App and drinks arrived promptly. The toilets of course are located upstairs. Family friendly environment during day.

Popped in here a bite to eat after a morning of shopping. Ordered via the app and service was good. Food was piping hot when it arrived. The pub itself was busy, but that's probably due to it being close to Xmas.

Standard Wetherspoons experience. Service was good enough, and drinks well priced as usual. Food was pretty good.

Typical Spoons breakfast. Good for the price with coffee refills, quick service to the table through the app.

Johnny is a great guy and his food is always 1st class. Would highly recommend the Wintersteam pub.

Food came reasonably quick but only brought out I set of cutlery for 2 people. Nowt like saving on washing up. Lol

Had the pleasure of visiting this spoons when in Wakefield CAS. Casper served me when I was at the bar and he was nothing but efficient and polite. Good banter as well, exactly what the Wetherspoons environment needs.

Went here Sunday for a quick drink and a bite to eat,chips were cold so collard Ryan he apologised but it’s not is fault sorted fresh ones out not a problem not like the weatherspoons in Hemsworth .think he was new there but a credit to the team

Very nice spoons, fast service from the kitchen, bar staff were a bit slow and talking amongst themselves before serving me but you get what you pay for. I will go again.

Nice and handy for a quick gargle before and after the races at Ponte. Too many uncontrolled squawking kids in here, and why do staff throw empty bottles into those skips instead of just placing them in!!!! Not changed at all, still kids screaming in the background. Ho hum!

Probably the worst experience I've had in a Weatherspoons. Ordered two all day brunch meals, both was really disappointing. Eggs was undercooked, sausages tasted off, beans had no flavor. Black pudding was nice,and the bacon was fine but overshadowed by everything else. There was a lack of tables mostly due to mess left by previous customers. Both of us had a dodgy stomach afterwards, can't say we'll be dashing back. I know it's weatherspoons and not a gourmet restaurant but should be better then this.

They do all types of food and breakfast up to 12 midday and main meals from 11:30am. Service is brilliant but I did find quite a few tables not cleaned and people sat waiting for it to be done. Waiting times for drinks are good and food is fair

Predominantly a Spoons for dining at with their usual fare on sale. There’s still guest cask ale and the Mysticale is fresh on and in great condition. So handy for the railway station and a short walk along a bridal way to Pontefract Racecourse

We were very disappointed. More expensive than we expected and had the atmosphere of a typical plastic pub. Didn't sell pizza! Would have liked to have seen at least one draught zero on sale. We had one drink and left. Went instead to 'The Glass Blower' also in Castleford, and enjoyed a couple of pizzas. Still no draught zero though.

A typical mass market bar with very little atmosphere but reasonable prices and good parking.

Met friends from North Yorkshire here as its a nice easy halfway point for us to meet and the bonus of free parking. Arrived at about 0930 and the Yorkies a few minutes later, hugs and kisses and then grabbed a table with nice soft benches with a glorious view to the car park, started with teas and coffees and sausage baps and veggie sausage baps for us veggie freaks, tea and coffee kept flowing until it was time for different drinks, ginger beers (driving) etc, and then some lunch, halloumi wraps and chips for us, and I've forgotten what Yorkie chums had, all food arrived quickly and was decent and good value. Toilets were decent and considering how busy it was stayed clean through the day. Liked the old photos and interesting framed stories on the stair walls, staff were pretty friendly and helpful. One last thing, we keep being told about a cost of living crisis, didnt see much sign of it here, the place was rammed all day and the amount of food that was left to waste certainly shows a lack of crisis, coupled with the amount of people going into Xcape.

The table need a wipe down, the real ale was bang on as was the San Miguel.

The chairs were so dirty here and the staff were not very friendly. The food though did taste nice and came out quickly.

We came daytime after the cinema for some food and it was lovely! Ordered with the qr code didn’t even have to leave the table! It’s great! Only negative is there’s no lasagne option on the menu here!

Jack needs a mention here. Lovely young man clearing tables and looking after the customers. My mum is disabled and needs a certain seat. The table needed clearing. He straight away came no questions asked. He then came to see if we were OK. Got us napkins when we asked and was just lovely so I'm leaving this review for Jack. Thanks for looking after me and my mum x

Wetherspoons. Not much to add. Decent food for a decent price. Fast service. No complaints.

The female toilets (out of 5 I checked) each had literal unflushed fecies in them. The rest of the toilets had skid marks. The whole upstairs smells of sewage and the ground was filthy and clearly wasn't cleaned or mopped. Do better - vile

Nice big 'Spoonz' with friendly staff and quick service.... much welcomed before or after a shopping trip at Junction 32...loads of nearby free car parking a bonus!...I go more often now!

Is what it is. Food delivered quickly was hot and ok what you would come to expect from Weatherspoons. Had Katie curry and a wrap both were ok.

The place itself is nice, but cold, they could do with turning air conditioning down. Its a good breakfast stop for us going elsewhere on a Monday. There are ignorant people though who think ot acceptable to put their phone on loud speaker. 1 guy this morning did his fire training course on loud speaker, as if we need to listen to thaylt whilst having our breakfast. Then to top it off a load of British Gas workers come in, phones ringing, again on loud speaker & even walkie talkies. Obviously these people never heard of ear plugs.

We've come here on a few occasions for either breakfast or brunch and found the pub to be very welcoming, clean, with a good menu and helpful staff. Good value and a pleasant atmosphere

The sift managers attitude stank i asked for a pint of stellar and a pink gin and tonic when i questioned the fact that she was putting lemonade in my gin and not tonic the answer I got that's what you asked for I questioned it and she got quite abrupt and said you asked for lemonade and walked away as I paid before she served me.... won't be back in the near future!!!!

Popped in for a refreshment, to use the toilet facilities, and a sit for a minute. Nice layout, perfect selfie toilets ( female toilets) Not much to say as we didn't stay too long. Typical Spoons toilets, miles away upstairs. Children's colouring sheets and crayons available. Not too busy, we were able to get a good seat. Some interesting artwork on the walls and old pictures which I like to look at

Service in this place is terrible. Staff serve the person stood next to the person they just served rather than actually looking to see who was next.

Came here for breakfast and it was sub-par even for a spoons. The porridge was like plaster and has as much taste as it too... The pints have a weird metal taste too it.

Miserable staff food was dry and luke warm asked for zero sugar Pepsi as I'm diabetic and looked at and treated like I was a problem and told sarcastically all drinks have sugar in how rude

Food is awful, burnt most of the time, potions are absolutely tiny, and over all tasteless. Atmosphere is pretty much none exiting. Staff try they're best and are welcoming and friendly.

We Called into The Winter Seam after a shopping trip to junction 32 today 15/08/24 First off the food was really nice everything was nice and hot . The staff were very friendly, I actually ordered through the app on arrival which is great no up and down to the bar to order , it was a very quick service . Drinks arrived within a minute, food arrived within 15 minutes. So overall a great experience . There’s just one thing that made me cringe was the state of the seats at the tables they were absolutely filthy ,some seats were in need of serious repair , I think it’s about time we either had them cleaned or replaced .

Busy place, but ordered food and it came quickly and it was hot.

A few too many screaming kids for my liking!! I suppose only to be expected in the school holidays! Another spoons ticked off my list!

It was really busy, a good atmosphere, and one of the cleanest wetherspoons we have been in, the tables were cleared and cleaned frequently. Staff were efficient There is disabled access There are plenty of parking spaces
