Tong Garden Centre in Bradford

Great garden centre plus the playground is brilliant and well organised. It's always kept clean in between visits and hosts good events for the kids during holidays

Came Sunday after my son’s football match. A bit out of our way, but popped in as we were over that way and took our car to get valeted whilst we went in. Came back to be told that they had accidentally put our child’s car seat in another car. They offered to give us the valet for free and we were in a rush as we live the other side of Leeds so we left it at that, but we’ve since noticed they have also taken our son’s Nike Air Jordan’s, his water bottle and his hoodie for his football team, which we are still waiting on being returned. They didn’t mention anything about these other items and we can’t understand why they would place these items in another car as we put them in the boot of the car so they were out of the way and asked them to focus on the interior of the car and leave the boot. Still waiting for a reply from these about our items.

Came here to the grass hopper based in there not been before was my first time.. and enjoyed it will be back again

I think the place is really very nice with plenty of different options, but for me, most of things are expensive.

Great flower and plant selection, a little pricey but top quality

Centro de jardín excelente, un montón de artículos encantadores y elección. Sin embargo, el café (Blooms Kitchen) no era genial. Durante un martes a la hora del almuerzo, estaba increíblemente ocupado y parecía que solo tenía una hasta operar para que se tomaran órdenes. Las bebidas pedidas estaban mal (el agua caliente venía como agua fría del grifo) pero rápidamente fueron rectificadas por el servidor. Los alimentos eran comestibles... los baps de carne consistían en una rodaja de cerdo y una pizca de salsa de manzana. Carvery implica verduras pero ninguna estaba presente, y las patatas fritas / salsa estaban frías. Muy caro para lo que era esencialmente un sándwich en un muffin producido en masa. No volveremos por comida con prisa.

Too busy and crowded, half hour wait for a sandwich, ridiculous. Lost it's localized trade and too expensive. Best go any weekday except Wednesday

Very good for young children to blow off steam

I live out of county but come back to see family. Disappointed feel it's not as good as last time I was here

Great place, even for kids. Food is expensive. And I wouldn't rate the food on the soft play area. I have eaten from the main cafe, and I ended up paying £16 for pie and chips. It was nice, but not that nice. The cakes, on the other hand, are amazing! Again costly but you get a good-sized cake!

Visitamos justo antes de Navidad, las decoraciones se agotaron en esta etapa, la sala de comidas estaba en proceso de reabastecimiento / organización, así que no es el mejor momento para visitar. Siempre solíamos comer en la cafetería / restaurante de abajo y podíamos obtener una buena comida. Esto ha cambiado y ya no nos preocupamos. Sin embargo, el entresuelo de arriba vale la pena una visita.

Went for afternoon tea 5/2/25 and I must say it was very average. Little pot of soup was nice. 3 crispy fried mushrooms were nice. The vol au vant pastry was very dry and sad and the 3 sandwiches were disappointing. The tuna was dry and tastless, could make better at home. The ham sandwich was just weird, chopped ham and tomato, the cheese was nice but again nothing you cant make at home. The scone with jam and clotted cream was nice and so were the 3 little cakes. Tea and coffee was plentiful and the waitress we had was very pleasant but had come from another store and admitted she didnt really know what to do. Not her fault. We wont bother to come back.

Had afternoon tea yesterday on the Mezzanine generally a nice experience staff friendly and helpful but the savoury part disappointing. The little pot of soup just ok but breaded mushrooms a bit odd. Sandwiches a bit dull. Nothing like the photo on the website. The little cakes quite nice. I don’t think I will be making a return sadly

Bought some of the fresh fruit and veg from the stall outside and it was lovely.

For all your plants and other things for your garden and a nice cafe to boot

Caterpillars play area is amazing and really child friendly. Friendly staff and really accommodating even when i ordered food to the wrong play area 🙈

Was treated to afternoon tea by my sister for my birthday. What a lovely place. Very clean and not too busy when we went this afternoon. The food was delicious. Staff very friendly and kept us topped up with coffee. Thank you was a lovely afternoon.

It was between New Year Sales and getting ready for Spring/Summer so a lot of empty spaces. Menu and service in Mezzanine restaurant was okay only.

Visitado para el almuerzo a las 12. 20 pm hoy. Elegí el pastel del día y me informaron que no estarán listos para otros 25 minutos! La hora del almuerzo apenas había comenzado y se habían quedado sin pasteles? en serio? El menú de los últimos años ha cambiado a peor. Sobreprecio y lleno de patatas fritas congeladas, guisantes congelados, hamburguesas o comida en masa, comida casi fría cuando se sirve. ¿Qué pasó con el mostrador de Carvery? Siempre fue fresco y agradable. El Yorkshire Garden Centre en Otley tiene el mostrador Carvery y el té de la tarde completa disponible anteriormente en la planta baja y es excelente. Esperamos cosas mejores cuando abra el Pennine Garden Centre. . . . . . Huelga decir que no nos alojamos y fuimos al ferrocarril Inn en Driglington Moor para un excelente almuerzo en su lugar

Lovely garden centre and cafe although it's been a bit hit and miss with the meal the last couple of times. Hasn't put me off though. Still like it.

Good entertainment for the family

The three stars are for the lovely meal we had in Blooms and great efficient staff. The experience we had at till was not so good.. among other things I bought was a four pack of sirloin steaks and blood was leaking through packaging. I asked the assistant if she had anything I could put it in as we had a fair way to get to car and travel home. She replied curtly No! You could always but a 10p carrier bag. I think this was dreadful customer service and think more staff training is required

Went for the festive afternoon tea was yummy! Service could have been better but was more a lack of staff as they were extremely busy and not enough servers.

Last year we went to Tingley Garden centre with my grandchildren to see father Christmas. It was absolutely amazing! Everyone had already said how good Tong was and it was always sold out very early every year. This year I booked early. Both myself and the grandchildren were very disappointed. It was no were near as good as Tingley. There was no atmosphere. The where very polite, but just no where near as good. Very disappointed Grandma and Grandchildren.

I didn't think it was as good as previous years. Felt a bit more rushed this year than it usually has. Didn't seem as interactive either.

We were very happy with the Santa experience 2024. The elf was engaging on the build up, the decorations were beautiful and very detailed. Then when we got to the grotto Santa had an excellent rapport with the children, he was lovely about the fact our 15 month old son was terrified by him! He offered to set up a photo involving him turning away so our son couldn’t see his face and then turning back at the last min so we could get a pic of him with our son. Our 3 year old loved him and said he was very friendly. The gifts our children chose are good quality too. Overall a great value experience.

We have visited Santa's Grotto for the past 5 years. So much attention to detail has been put into the displays. The staff are always warm and welcoming. We like that we can pick an age appropriate toy at the end of the experience. Highly recommend

If I’m honest we weren’t that impressed this year and probably won’t be coming back… The kids just didn’t seem to be that engaged with the story before seeing Santa (even a little bored tbh). Santa was ok, although we’ve seen others that were a lot more in character. The kids did love the toy shop and choosing their present. Overall, for the cost and that being their best bit we won’t be back… 😞 . Claire

We do this trip to Santa every year as a family tradition. My boy is now 10 and looked a lil 'too cool for school' this year. But yo be fair the staff and Santa still had him thoroughly enjoying it, laughing and participating. So I would love to say a huge thank you to all at Tong xx

Lovely, family friendly place for prams and wheelchairs. Helpful cafe staff & delicious food, however a little expensive. Overall would recommend.

Mi comida llegó 40 minutos tarde, mal y fría. Sabía asqueroso. Realmente es lo peor que he tenido. Pedí caliente, picante con pepperoni, tengo queso frío.

Took my granddaughter to see Santa although she was a bit clingy the elves were amazing they spoke to her very kindly and tried to encourage her. The different spaces were amazing really enjoyed looking at them. A fantastic Santa who was really lovely to the children. Loved it thank you

Tong garden centre is a really great place to visit. For plants, aquatics, indoor ornaments,kids toys, clothes etc. Today was a great visit. Also had lunch whilst we were there. Plus all the Christmas decs and light's ornaments were out. The staff are always friendly and helpful.

Una experiencia diferente para nuestro 32 aniversario de boda. A mi marido le han diagnosticado cáncer de nuevo, así que estamos tratando de seguir adelante con las cosas. El personal estaba bien dadas las circunstancias, pero la experiencia en general fue terrible. Podría escribir un ensayo sobre lo malo que fue.

We have been several times to the Grotto which isn’t cheap. This years Grotto was poor. The interaction from the entertainment team was rubbish (they all seemed low in mood), not small child friendly and having to walk outside round a a lake in cold temperatures with young children wasn't nice. The Father Christmas was great. Won’t be making the 50 minute trip again.

We enjoyed the santa experience and very surprised by the toy at the end as there was such a choice and better than normal gifts that you get from seeing santa. The elves were very good and full of personality too, santa funny too. The only thing missing was Santa asking what the kids would like for Christmas and maybe the early present coming from him but I appreciate the choice or how good it was might be lost maybe?! Overall good for what you pay!

Came to tong garden centre for the second time to see Santa with my grandson it was a lovely magical experience staff are lovely better this year as they did smaller groups of children it felt more personal the shops and cafe was also very nice lots to look at good atmosphere

Absolutely amazing once again! We have been twice now with our children (6 has autism and 2) and they have both loved the experience. They are friendly and play their roles perfectly for the kids. It’s the right length of time going through the experience and the Santa was spot on! Even my 6 year old wasn’t overwhelmed or anxious. Worth every penny and miles traveled to visit! Will go every year.

Don’t think it was that exciting really … and Santa didn’t even ask the children what they would like for Christmas

Lovely garden centre to walk around with loads to see. Had some food and drink from the cafe which was also great. Can spend hours in here tbh! Fantastic at Christmas time. Cute day out!

This was an excellent experience for all the family including the 3 month old youngest, the 3 year old, their Mum, Auntie and Grandparents. We will definitely book again next year. Thanks Tong Garden Centre

We went for the Santa experience with our 3 year old. We were taken through on time, no waiting around. There were Elves to guide us and I must say everyone of them was smiling, happy and friendly, which made it even more magical for the little ones. The displays & lights were lovely, obviously a lot of effort was made. Santa was great, the children weren’t rushed and made to feel special. At the end the children got to pick a gift in the workshop and all gifts were fabulous. I’d give this experience 10/10, I’ve got a feeling it will be a yearly tradition with our boy 👍

Massive garden centre with a variety of things to buy and a great cafe with lovely food and fantastic staff

We went with our 2 year old grandson. We arrived just before our time slot and were shown where to go. We were met by Santa's elves who were very jolly. We were then led through the path which was nicely decorated along the way eventually leading to santa. I did feel that this part was rushed, maybe because 2 year olds are a bit slower at looking at everything. Santa was great and very interactive with everyone. After photos we were taken to Santa's shop where children were able to choose a toy from the shelves, there was a great selection for everyone. Overall it was a great experience and worth money.

Took my little one to see the Christmas grotto on 11/12. I don't think it was value for money. The elves were rushing us. To be quick. We couldn't properly take pictures as they were taking us from one setting to another real quick and even doing hand gestures to say hurry up. They gave us reindeer food but there wasn't actually any real animals involved. For the price charged they should have been. For day time visits the price should be adjusted as you can't see the outside lights by the lake.

How disappointed I was with the santa experience this year ,boring ,santa was miserable and hardly said anything to the kids,my granddaughter 2 and another family aged 4 and 10 months .The present broke by the time we got to the cafe a horrible doll legs came off ,arms came off ,hair came out absolute rubbish. Not only one who's noticed the difference my grandson went with his parents and waited ages in a queue then disappointed with the santa.What happened to the adventure and the story telling and fantastic shop .Feel like Tingley got the budget this year , come on Tong you were once one of the best around .. Not this year

Just had breakfast with santa... What a really nice experience for my daughter and a really nice place to have it in i would highly recommend doing it. it's a lovely garden centre too definitely worth a look around they have some beautifu amazing things there...

Visited numerous of times always happy with the helpful friendly and polite staff, recently went to santas grotto! We loved it making it so special and magical for our little boy, officaly his first visit to see santa! Without feeling rushed, the elves and santa where fantastic, helping us create some unforgetable memories! Highly recomend and thank you for a magical experience!

Huge centre with a fantastic Christmas range, highly recommended 👌

It was great but I feel like the elves needed to read the audience a bit better. There were 2 young toddlers and a baby in our little group and the story telling went completely over their heads. They would’ve been better trying to interact with them more without going over the top. Also, didn’t like sharing the Santa moment with other guests.

Nice place just expensive products

Fabulous garden centre where you can buy just about anything for your garden and home. There is also a great cafe and restaurant. Incorporates various other outlets such as Bonmarchè and Pavers. Their 'Green Card' membership gives great discounts on many items.

Santas grotto was very poor not magical at all plus you are in the grotto with other families which for the price is ridiculous. Tong garden centre its self is lovely just a shame about the Santa as he didn’t have a clue and neither did the elves.

Get place to go , just on the way to Harrogate so decided to stop of here for a look around. We'll worth it.

Booked the Santa's grotto experience for the little one. It was well organised, staff/ elves were very helpful and polite and really good with the little ones. 10/10 for Santa's efforts. Overall, it was a great setup and a wonderful experience for the kids.

Really great place to visit, very large and had a large variety of things so something for everyone

Santas grotto wasn't great. We went to the Tingley one last year and it was great really interactive. This year at Tong it was really disappointing. no real interaction, an elf who looked liked they didn't want to be there. She just walked us through the various rooms, no story telling at all. Choice of toys at the end poor compared to previous years. Quick sit down with santa which felt rushed. Not worth the money at all

A fantastic experience for my children. The event was well organised, and the staff were amazing. They went above and beyond to ensure that my autistic son was comfortable at every stage of the experience. And to meet the actual, real life Father Christmas! That was a treat I was not expecting ♡

At the Mezzanine Restaurant, I enjoyed a Classic Christmas Afternoon tea. A special occasion, for 3 Thursdays in a row, around Christmas season. Very nice, well prepared, christmassy atmosphere with vintage Christmas songs live. Staff was friendly and polite.

Lovely effort gone into the decor and outside bit etc but I didn’t realise we would be going into the grotto with other children and families. Standing in a tight space for 15 mins while you watch other children tell Santa what they want and sit on his knee is not the idea I had in mind. I’d defo change that. Great at the end where they get to go into the toy shop. Exciting but left abit disappointed.

Staff were lovely, arrived early! No access to food and choice was limited for a sandwich as a vegetarian! Grotto was lovely we were let in early, but the experience was very short and not as exciting as marketed! Nice as a one off but wouldn’t go again - felt rushed and minimal effort walking around having made the effort in the snow!

We came on 23rd November yes the weather was bad with the snow, but I felt sorry for the young lass with people going up to her shouting with seeing Santa was running very late because of weather I think someone higher up should of been there and explained what was going on . Part from that it was best Santa ever
