Awesome place with an outstanding choice. The Mezzanine food restaurant is perfect to take a delicious break from shopping. You'll need a few hours to look round everything that's on offer here. It's looking very Christmassy right now. Great play area too for the little ones.

Nice place to go but loses a star for becoming over priced (£4 for a flat white that was too hot, burnt beans) and putting a charge through for a carrier bag before I got to the till, and I didn't even get a carrier bag .. They need to be careful not to ruin a well earned reputation. And £11 for a panini is just daft

This is for the Mezzanine Café -- actual garden centre itself is fantastic and staff always so friendly and polite so no issues there. Anyway. I went here for a light lunch this afternoon. Arrived at 12:30, and coffee didn't turn up until 13:00. My food didn't arrive until gone 14:00 and was both raw and overcooked. The staff all looked dour, miserable, and like they would rather have been plucking their toenails out with rusty pliers instead of serving customers. After waiting an hour and a half we then had a clueless waitress insist on clearing the plates away before giving us the bill which took another 15 minutes to arrive. Upon going to the counter to pay, the couple in front of us were telling them their bill was incorrect and three members of staff were trying to cancel and re-add items without much success. In no world should it take over two hours to order, eat, and pay for a sandwich and a simple machine-made coffee. If it ever does, a simple apology goes a long way. 'Sorry, the kitchen is short today,' or, 'there's a bit of a wait so please bear with us!' would have helped, too. Not having a waitress slam a coffee down on my table, and another rolling their eyes when I asked how long food might take. The cakes DO look nice, but quite frankly I'd rather buy them from the food hall and eat them at home then give these folks business.

The shopping aspect is great, amazing selection of plants and garden stuff in general. Just don't try to eat here, especially on a weekend. So rammed that the service can't keep up, disorganised and you have to queue 20 mins for a glass of water, the cafe was stressful and spoiled an otherwise great experience.

The store was lovely and staff were very kind. It was super busy though. Took my little one to the Grasshoppers soft play inside and wasn't expecting how busy it would be and not the greatest area for tiny babies. The small area is for 0-3 years so if your baby is pretty young it's not that safe in this are with toddlers running around. Good selection of kids meals for the little ones though. The play area for older kids was huge.

As garden centres go this is pretty top notch. The grasshoppers play centre would earn it 5 stars on it's own, it's got both indoor and outdoor areas that easily keep kids of all ages entertained. In addition to that it has a really great food hall, an amazing food shop and delicatessen, huge toy section as well as books, tools and furniture. And if plants are what you're after, I'd be surprised if is there's much they don't have, from flowers, bushes, trees, herbs and vegetables.

Tong Garden Centre is so much more than the 'normal' garden centre, so many indoor and outdoor plants to purchase, and The Mezzanine Cafe food and placement is amazing. There are a couple more cafes, a fabulous children's play area (think you have to book not just turn up, but not having young children I'm not sure), an aquatic section, couple of retail outlets; garments, shoes, butcher, confectionery, off sales, garden furniture. Large car park, with disabled parking ground floor entrance. Lift to mezzanine level and toilets.

Pretty well-stocked garden centre, with a wide selection of gifts as much as plants for sale. Large car park, cafe and toilets in store. Our apple pie pastry was flabby and anaemic-looking and tasted under baked, so we wasted our £4.50 there, but otherwise the cafe was good and offered a vegan selection too. A nice place to visit with children at Christmas, as the displays and decorations are nice. I've heard good things about the paid-for play centre, too.

This is one garden centre in a large local chain. It is very large with wide isles and is very clean. There are lots of plants for indoor and outdoor. But a large area to the shop/store is cafes, garden furniture, gift areas, bedding, shoes, food, aquarium and children's play areas. Parking is plentiful. Toilets are always clean and regularly checked. Sometimes we go to look and usually come out buying something.

We visited Tony Garden Centre Cafe for a cream tea. I like the seating area on the right as it is more personalised but it was cordoned off again. We had to go on the left which I call the cattle market! There was a booth at the far end so that was where we sat. The staff clearly don't want customers to sit in the better area until the other one is full, what a shame!!! It was appalling, the seating areas were all marked as though children had climbed on them and daubed chocolate fingers all over the backs! The seat coverings were all cracked and disintegrated, we'll overdue for a refurb! I would have thought Tony G C could afford to do this and it should be a priority. The cream tea was delicious, just a shame about the seating area!

Amazing afternoon tea, everything was so nice and fresh and you could swap and change the drinks so that you didn’t just have to have the same one. The only thing that I didn’t really like was the tuna mayo spiral as it was really messy to eat and all fell out. Would be a good idea to use another type of bread or give a separate plate for the sweet things so the tuna doesn’t touch them. Update 21/6/24 we returned for another lot of afternoon tea and this was even better than the first. The chicken and tarragon sandwich was amazing and the vegetable soup was better than the tomato! The service was great and we can’t wait to come back.

I'd like to give this garden centre 5 stars as it is so well stocked with healthy and varied plants and everything related to gardens but, because of the cafe experience, it rates only 4. When we visited on Saturday afternoon, we went straight to the cafe and discovered that it had been re-vamped and it looked very inviting. We were told that it was coffee and cakes only at that time, which was fine. We waited 10 minutes to be served and a further 15 for the coffee to appear, which, when it was brought, was unceremoniously placed at the edge of the table. Apart from our table, there were only 4 others occupied. I do feel that customer service wasn't at its best on our visit. A real shame, as we had driven for well over an hour to get there.
