Went on steak night. Very good deal for 2 perfectly cooked rumps. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable atmosphere and mixed clientele.

A shadow of the place it used to be. It was like a morgue. Such a shame really but it's the same with many pubs these days

I stopped in to have a drink for my dad who used to drink there when Jack and Winnie Keneally ran the pub well over 50 year’s ago. I was looked after by a couple of young men who were working there while on uni break. They were both so welcoming and friendly making my visit all the more enjoyable. Thank you guys.

My wife and i called in on a Friday evening (12/08/22) for food, only to be told that you did not have a Chef, what? Can you explain the reason why theres no chef and that your site is advertising food? Come back Chris, Joe, Amy, Katie.

Very poor Saturday night meal. Menu on website different to on the night- changed hands and hadn’t caught up. Very little vegetarian and what came wasn’t nice. The only positive was a pleasant waiter Maybe finding it’s feet if new but I certainly won’t be coming back or recommending . Suggest avoid .

Rubbish place.!! Cold chips, cold fish and more like its out of a freezer.! dolmio coated pasta...more like a microwave meal.! Prawn cocktail was warm and served in a desert bowl.! Service was good by one of the waiters but food was terrible. Don't recommend the place.!!!!!

We only stopped off here to warm up after swimming at goit stock waterfall As we found the place by accident we ended up sat here for about 2 hrs talking with staff and other customers This place is so welcoming I also ordered a hot chocolate and was treated to. A few chocolate biscuits to go with it We will visit again if ever in the area and also sample the food next time

Thought we would have a family meal at the George Hotel, arrived at 12.00 and sat outside til 12.15 and pub closed!

All the service staff appeared to be new, and it showed. We sat down and had to ask for menus after 5/6 minutes. For a family of four going to the local pub for dinner we shouldn’t have been there over 2 hours. There was 3 or 4 tables in so not even 1/4 full and they struggled to meet service and the food coming out. Before we ordered, we genuinely had a family conversation about going somewhere else based on needing to ask for menus after arriving for a booked table! It was only the lack of other options that led to us staying. My daughters (12) beef burger was borderline raw in the middle. So much so she didn’t want to finish it. I had half roast chicken which didn’t come with a sauce or marinade of any kind. The result, it was really dry, no moisture at all. I had to smother it in ketchup to be able to eat it. The food here used to be really good, the food service was always slow and I assumed that was due to the menu that used to have 7/8 pages, now it’s a choice of 7/8 items (only 1 vegetarian option). The bar area appeared to be busy for a mid week evening but it’s clear the new owners haven’t got to grips with what was a great local pub for food and drink. I think there is a new chief and maybe the supply chain issues are causing the issues with the menu but I hope they resolve these quickly before it drops all the goodwill the local pub had built up over years.

Visited recently with my husband,son and granddaughter. We haven’t been for a couple of years but we used to really enjoy the food here and we’re really looking forward to going, but what a letdown. We should have realised when the pub was nearly empty inside on a Saturday early evening, when it used to be buzzing. The bar and table staff were very friendly but that was the only real positive. We waited 45 mins for our food and with a toddler that wait was excruciating- she was starving. When we asked how long the food was going to be the waitress checked with the chef who sent apologies but he was v busy and it would be another 5/6 mins. There was only 1 other table eating inside but there may have been a couple outside admittedly but no way was it busy. When the food eventually arrived it was ok but not great and definitely not a patch on previous times. My husband’s pie was pale and the meat was chewy and fatty and my burger was dry. They did give us a free dish of chips to apologise for our wait but we didn’t really want them. Very disappointing visit overall. We will not be going again.

Went for Sunday lunch very disappointed as we had to wait one hour and the food wasn't very good meat was very tough and the vegetables where cold wasn't busy neither. Won't be going back

Really sorry but the new management have taken this formerly great, popular busy food pub down hill. Wednesday Steak Night used to be busy and almost full every week. This week only 3 other tables in for food, a hand full of people at the bar drinking. A pub that when asked to provide a medium steak deliver it just shy of well done has lost its way in my opinion. The service was friendly, the steak night deal is a good deal, but the previously high standards of the previous owners / chef have dropped in recent months.

Wasn't impressed last orders were called at 9.30pm on a Sat night. However, staff were polite and friendly

Ate here pre covid a number of times and was always decent food. Pub under new management this year, long wait for food and chewy meat. Won’t be going back

Soup was cold, my husbands fish was very obviously cooked earlier and then warmed up as the batter was very dark and hard. We will not be going again.

Lovely atmosphere Nd great experience

Went for Sunday lunch and so glad we made the decision to do so, absolutely superb from the Bar staff service, the waitress service and the chef cooking, the food was outstanding.. Brilliant experience and will definitely be going again, thank you everyone involved.

Good quality food, beer was good but almost 50% of the pumps had run out. Apparently taken to another of the pubs in the chain. The food felt like it took an age to arrive, it wasn’t even half full, possibly due to the snow, but if felt it took a lot longer than it should have. I’ll be returning as it’s a good local pub and I’ve never had a bad meal there, they just need to speed up the food from the kitchen, I’d hate to see how slow it would be when really busy.

It says "under new management" outside, so we decided to give it a try for tea. Good selection of traditional meals on the menu...which we enjoyed. Doom bar and Old spot bitter offered and well kept, friendly cheerful staff and a big warm fire! Really enjoyed our visit and we will be back.

Not much of a menu - and 3 dishes that were on it weren't available ; sat for nearly 10 minutes and nobody came to see what we wanted .

Had a quick pint after funeral - good venue and glad they still have separate rooms. Much nicer than a big open space.

We ate at The George in Cullingworth on Friday. All the food was really good. The kids had a burger from the kids menu and it was nearly as big as the adults. Staff were great, really friendly and went out their way to talk to the kids. We will be back soon.

Quiet.... Poor cleanliness on the condiments as per picture, and surprised to see some dust in the overhead lights, would expect a very clean establishment after all the lockdown we've just suffered, however the redeeming factor was the food was good, so given a 2 for cleanliness and 5 for food. 3 stars total.

1st visit for us, thought we would try for a change. Fabulous food, fabulous friendly staff. My husband said best steak he has had in years, cooked to perfection. Chunky chips are amazing... All four of us loved it and will be returning very soon... Well done all ..

Visited with my husband and 6 others. With good social distancing in place we had 2 tables of 4, but were still able to chat to each other. Good food choices on the menu and the food was really good. Lovely waitresses too. Would recommend.

We booked a table and used the txting method to order. The meals came the looked very good . I got the George burger and chunky chips . The chips and onion rings were great but the burger was bland. Another friend hit the same and she said the same , Also we found it to be expensive.

We went for lunch today- or should I say we tried to! We booked a table for 2.00pm today- the waitress was lovely and took our drinks order and informed us they were not doing pies as their pie oven was broken and they were all losing it in the kitchen. This wasn’t a problem and we chose other options. After 1 3/4 hours we were informed that the other oven was broken so we couldn’t have any food. To add to our frustration the table next to us we’re getting their food delivered as she was telling us. We found this quite difficult to understand as we put our order in at a very similar time. We asked if we could have anything else and if someone could not have told us before, the waitress said she’d go & check. We were only having paninis and chips- so didn’t actually need an oven. I asked to speak to the manager who informed us it was far more frustrating for her as she was going to have to cancel bookings this evening. I asked if someone could not have told us some time within the 1 3/4 hours we were waiting. We asked why we couldn’t have had the paninis and chips as they didn’t need an oven to make them. We were informed the chef had been sent home as there was no point paying him when he couldn’t cook. The mangeress again said it was far more frustrating for her and stormed off. I appreciate they were having problems but would it have too much to ask to be informed and not leave us for 1 3/4 hours.

Not sure what has happened in the kitchen but the food was well below par tonight, much worse than we've had before and one of our adults meals came with 5 chips..... Unlikely we will be returning.

The George is good place to eat and has been for a number of years now. Great food ,great service , friendly staff, well worth a visit.

Was really disappointed long wait for starters and main. It wasn’t busy either. Sunday lunch was terrible Yorkshire Puddings cold and soggy was given extra because they were small, sent them all back . Told chef sorting out for you, waited ages had to ask was then served original puds same state a big no no! Had to ask for sauces not offered! Only strawberry ice cream doesnt go well with deserts. No return for us, was looking forward to new venue too.

Have had good food there but also awful. Last time unedible beef in sandwich. Was exp ensive too. Still reminds me of how it was 20byears ago.. Just had a coat of paint and a new conservatory.

Enjoyed the fabulous food today, fresh vegetables, beautiful Yorkshire puds, succulent meat and tasty gravy all served very hot, I defy any one to find any better. Thank you The George Team.

Called in for a drink but stayed for food. Lovely steaks. Nice homemade cheese cake. Lovely cozy place with friendly staff.

Our go to place locally. Food can take a while from ordering to arrival but it is delicious and fresh when it arrives. Big kids meals so we still get one for our 2 younger kids.

We live locally and visit The George on a fairly regular basis.The food is good as is the selection of beers/wines/spirits. Our main gripe is that, if you're in there late afternoon/early evening, there are always children running around or taking seats that means we have to stand.The other day there was a family of 4 taking up half of the pub and the fire! And another child taking up another adult seat/table.If you're just going for a meal, it's great - the kids don't impact; if you just want a quick drink, likelihood is you'll be standing!

We have used this pub on a regular basis since it re-opened when Jo and Chris took it over. We live in the village and can easily walk to the George, so having a drink is not a problem.The beer, brewed in the village by the landlord, is exceptional and consistently good. It is difficult to find a better bitter than OSB anywhere!!!The restaurant has had its ups and downs but is now back at the top of our list. The new chef is exceptional and has now settled in and put his own stamp on the cuisine. In addition to the main menu, the country themed specials are changed regularly and, so far, have been delightful. The current selection are French and we and our guests enjoyed a fantastic experience this week. It is refreshing when the chef takes the time and trouble to speak to diners at the end of service and genuinely ask for comments on their experience. Unfortunately, due to family circumstances, we are having to relocate to the West Midlands. However, we will make frequent visits to see our many friends in West Yorkshire and a visit to the George will be on our agenda on each occasion.Keep up the excellent work.

Fantastic meal tonight. Tempura prawns with chilli sauce to start, and then Cheese and Onion pie with fries and veg, the biggest fish with chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce. Superb food and service. Thank you Shauna.

We had a lovely roast lunch at this restaurant, the food was cooked to perfection, and nothing was too much trouble, the service was great and very attentive.

Eaten here lots but tonight's evening meal was especially good. The chef has put together a Mexican specials menu and we were spoilt for choice. I had the lamb ribs - really succulent - and hubby had the tacos which he described as excellent. All with a lovely, if not very Mexican, Malbec. Met the chef too, who's also lovely!

Amazingly well cooked sea bass and my wife's pork schnitzel was also superb, add to this excellent OSB beer, brilliant starters and excellent service, The George is truly back to it's best.

Their pies are amazing, full of meat and very tasty. The chips are good too. Good selection of Old Spot draught beers along with a few others.

Nice food, but was expecting more,very very overrated this place. Staff were sound and the place was clean and pleasant. We were in a party of over 20 and they quite clearly couldn't cope.

Try the lunch time menu, everything under £9! The George pie was amazing and the chips are delish. Lovely place to go with the family.

Visited on a very warm evening. The choice of food was pretty good. Food arrived quickly and was tasty. The room was airy and plenty of space between tables. I would go again. Prices reasonable.

I came here with my boyfriend on a first date and the food was really amazing. It was pie night and both our meals were really good. The service was great too, the waitress was friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxed. We will definitely come back.

The beer here is excellent, some of the best you can get. We occasionally dine here too. Great welcome and good choice on food menu plus specials. Recommend the George Burger (a thing of wonderment) and try the specials.

came and visited with my mum. what can I say, amazing food!! brilliant service, down to earth waitresses ready to have a goggle with you. we were seated promptly upon entering and served our drinks. we had a chat and looked at our menus, not rushed and orders taken at a leisurely pace with a smile from the waitress. we ordered the seafood starter.. oh my goodness, what a delight! loads of flavour. couldn't complain about the amount of food and the taste was put of this world! we felt full afterwards. onto the main course, did not disappoint, beef rib that melted in your mouth, beautifully cooked with a gorgeous creamy mash and seasonal veg. extra gravy? not a problem! well enjoyed and perfectly cooked sunday lunch. we decided on a pudding too. I went for the apple strudel, again amazing the cinnamon and the apple were perfect together not too much but not too less.just right. polished off with a couple more drinks and no rushing us to get us out whatsoever. one of my favourite places to eat!

Decided to eat at the George for tea yesterday. We have been a couple of times before much to our delight and we were def not disappointed. On arriving we were greeted with a smile and a kind word, shown to our table and given menus.we ordered our food and waited a reasonable time for it to be cooked to order. I had the chicken kebab with trimmings and it was absolutely delicious. My friend had the fish and chips and said hers was delicious too. We had cheesecake and ice cream for desserts which went down really well. The coffee was gorgeous and rounded the meal off perfectly. The ambience was warm and welcoming, all the staff were friendly and helpful. Thank you for a lovely and enjoyable tea time treat

My friend arrived earlier than me and advised the girl behind the bar that we were here for drinks and food. We couldn’t set a tab up and my friend paid for the bottle of wine, but knowing we wanted to eat. We were chatting and had a drink, and just missed the 8.45 curfew for food by 1 minute. Went to the bar and the girl went into to the kitchen to see if they would serve (we would have been happy with a sandwich) but they wouldn’t serve even though they were still serving a big party. We were offered crisps only, so we had to buy some crisps, along with another bottle of wine. When leaving they counted the people out, didn’t even say goodbye. Really rude!. Overall experience if you don’t have Cullingworth blood avoid this pub!
