I usually visit the local cafe for a post parkrun breakfast. This place is set within a communal garden in the park and was the obvious choice. Whilst queuing (very slow) we saw the quality of the food and decided to just have coffee. These were very strong and bitter with an after taste of burnt coffee beans. I saw a few park runners that were eating, leave their food, one took theirs back. I can’t comment on food but I get the picture.

The location is simply fabulous. At the top of Swaledale with views all around. Set up for walkers - so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Mixing with fellow walkers meant a very sociable stay. Room was good size and comfortable. Restaurant bar and lounge were of high quality and brought a high enjoyable stay. Matt and Dave are great hosts. Thoroughly recommended.

We held our staff Summer Ball at The Faversham and it was absolutely perfect. Nothing was too much trouble and they recommended the perfect set up to keep all our guests entertained. Plenty of staff (so no queueing at the bar!) and all 100 guests got their food at pretty much the same time. Love the sharing platters. The pavlova is to die for!! Highly recommend for any type of function.

I was very disappointed with wildcraft cafe today. What has happened to this cafe!!!? I'd been a couple of years ago with my family and we had a great brunch/breakfast which also satisfied the gluten eaters. Went there for Sunday brunch w family today and found there's no breakfast/brunch menu any more, only quiches n sausage rolls heated up in the microwave, or a toastie on offer. Staff told me there was no kitchen staff to be able to cook anymore beyond a toastie! The sausage roll was the only savoury I could eat. Surely they should be aware that many coeliac people cannot tolerate dairy! There are as plenty of cake and cookies but I was looking for brunch! The sausage roll was nice but very dry on it's own, no garnish, no sauces offered or in the table. I was expecting to have it with the 2 small salads I'd ordered, but they didn't arrive for 25 minutes after I'd eaten the sausage roll so I got a second sausage roll to go with the so called salads, and had to make a specific request for tomato sauce to go with it. When I commented on the long wait to the server who brought me the salad, she just shrugged and muttered an embarrassed apology. My son's toastie also took 25-30 minutes and was presented very plainly, no garnish or anything. £7 seemed rather a lot for it and it wasn't enough for a brunch. My salads were supposed to be a small dish of roast potatoes and a small dish of greek salad. What I actually got was one small dish with 3 half cold potatoes, a handful of chickpeas, some old cucumber, a few bits of tomato and olives. I ate it cos I was hungry but mourn the loss of what used to be a great community cafe. It was obvious that the cafe was understaffed. I had some sympathy for the two servers rushing around. It's ok for buying nice gf bread and cake but I'll not bother with the cafe again.

Well it was an experience. The bloke running the place gave an aura of discomfort with a huge lack of understanding of the English language. I felt sorry for him that the proprietor had left someone in charge that was unable to understand an order. Two customers ended up walking out because they became too frustrated after they had to write down the order and then have guy just staring at them but into the void. I waited as I was simply filling time anyway. Wish I hadn't, the fish was awful, just meh slimy and gross. Not had fish this bad in a long time. Won't be going there again. Also whilst I was there an angry customer came in complaining that he hadn't answered the phone to take orders. The phone was going alot and he just stared at it. From what I gathered, because of his limitations of the language, he ignores the orders.

Wow. What a dump We arrived at 6pm outside was advertised as all day meals No one greeted us, although pne staff witnessed us. We went to a table and was asked what drink we wanted. We asked for a menu for food. The waiter said he will have to check if they have food. He came back saying there was no food. We left but asked another staff on the way out who said the staff were leaving now , what ever that meant. I stopped 4 others boarding the ship

Welcoming atmosphere on a cold evening, warmed by very friendly staff, the best meal (Lamb chops with sides) and a refreshing “English” ale to wash it down. Pricing was the absolute best we travelling Aussies have experienced in the UK this past 4 weeks. What a great Pub.

My son has a dairy allergy and often has to settle for sorbet when at an ice cream parlour. Truly Scrumptious gave him an amazing choice of dairy free ice creams and toppings. We wouldn’t normally have 3 ice creams in 3 days but he was just so excited that he had choices, how could we not??!!

Passed by here many times before but as the main part seemed a little run down we hadn't given it a second thought. This time however, We were in need of a break as our journey had been fraught with heavy traffic so we pulled in and were so glad that we did. A very pleasant refreshment stop, with helpful, friendly and smiling staff meant that we stayed a little longer than intended. We shall definitely call in again when travelling this route.
