We held our staff Summer Ball at The Faversham and it was absolutely perfect. Nothing was too much trouble and they recommended the perfect set up to keep all our guests entertained. Plenty of staff (so no queueing at the bar!) and all 100 guests got their food at pretty much the same time. Love the sharing platters. The pavlova is to die for!! Highly recommend for any type of function.

A newly renovated events space & a great experience. Modern facilities, lovely outside space & several rooms including a conservatory, make this an excellent venue for parties etc. We attended a party to celebrate the life of a young woman who died too soon. The staff were pitch perfect & helped make a difficult event enjoyable. Parking could be an issue for huge groups (though a section was reserved for those arriving by car). A great venue in the middle of the university campus.

me and my wife came here for lunch on the 6th of June 2019. The place was pretty empty, so we where surprised it took so long to get served, but the food was fine, reasonably priced. We left fairly happy. A few days later we got a parking fine for parking in their car park. I immediately contact the Faversham and got no reply, I appealed the fine and again got no response. So while the meal was well priced, the £160 fine I had to pay for parking their was not worth it. Its a really dirty trick, people don't expect to get fined for parking at a restaurant. I later found out that you have to ask permission from staff to park, something that wasn't told to use by staff, so how you are meant to know this is beyond me

Exellent range of choices, but very slow service at alunchtime - 45 mins waiting time? Acoustics are awful - need to shout to be heard. Place looks like a converted greenhouse - most odd. As a result, when the suns deigns to shine, even fitfully, the place becomes like an oven.

We were married in Leeds on the 18th of May, and held our reception at the Faversham. I can’t thank the staff enough for their excellent service, going above and beyond for me and my wife. Planning a big party can be quite stressful, and it was very reassuring to have the team at the fav looking after important details, and helping us along the way. On the day itself, we were delighted with the food throughout. Our gathering was very large, close to capacity for the wedding breakfast, but the space never felt overcrowded and the conservatory and terrace areas were perfect for a break from the party. From our point of view, things went seamlessly and we could totally relax and enjoy the moment. I expect this has more to do with the incredibly hard work of the Faversham than any particularly great planning on our part! Alice and James

What a fantastic place for a wedding reception! My son and daughter in law chose the Faversham for their party after the service at the cathedral and it was simply perfect ! Arriving in the bright and airy conservatory, guests were greeted with a wonderful selection of delicious canapés and drinks, before we all went into the beautifully decorated main room. The meal was delicious and all 130 guests were served hot and tasty food. The whole day was wonderful , so a huge thanks to Gemma, Jacob and Sammy and the staff for all of their hard work and their huge contribution to such a memorable family event!

Booked to provide the music and hosting for a Wedding party I visited this venue on a Thursday to look around and familiarise myself with the layout. I ordered the bacon and cheeseburger which was cooked perfectly, medium. On the night of the wedding I was taken a back by the friendly and organised wedding team. Ensuring I was set up correctly and kindly offering a perfectly strong cup of coffee. Adam was particularly helpful and ensured I had a great night. The happy couple sang the praises of the wedding planner Gemma and were greatly looked after throughout their special day. The evening party was superb and the new decor helped with the atmosphere. It was a delight to see the bar team in good spirits after closing and clean up and I would highly recommend this venue for any couples from Leeds looking for a perfect spot for their big day.

Things that were good: 1. The venue was nicely decorated for Christmas 2. Gluten free and vegan food was clearly marked Things that need improving: 1. Food Upon asking most people at the event about the food, most were very disappointed. We understand that there were some complications with some people eating vegan food when they did not ask for vegan options, but this could have been EASILY rectified if there was a member of staff there to make sure that everyone was getting their fair share of what they ordered. Also, the food was paid per head yet was spread like a buffet. If you spread it on the table like a buffet, people will think that it is a buffet! Students are not stupid and we want our money's worth! Furthermore, upon asking one of the staff members what was going on with the lack of food, he replied that the chef had gone home and that there were no more chips left because they had given them to the vegan customers that didn't get any of the food they ordered. One of the staff also stated "this happens every time" regarding problems with a lack of food, to which I thought, "why don't you do something about it then, instead of leaving customers unhappy?". Indeed, the staff were apologetic, but an apology means nothing if you cannot leave your customers happy by rectifying the situation. We would have preferred if the labelling of food was clear and present, because there were customers that had severe allergies (nuts and dairy) that were unsure which food was safe for them to eat. We had explained everyone's dietary requirements to the event organisers yet it seemed that there was very little done to cater for those with specific dietary needs. We know that the Faversham need to make a profit as they are a business, but many of us genuinely felt ripped off by the food that was provided.

Me and my four friends went for a meal to celebrate finishing our degrees. We were very much looking forward to this meal and hence was extremely dissappointed to receive the service we did. The male waiter did not greet us or ask us what we wanted and seemed like he did not want to be there. He also got my order wrong and subsequently brought out the incorrect food. When I stressed that this wasn’t what I ordered, the waiter said nothing so awkwardly I accepted the food, but received no apology throughout. I would usually not leave reviews of this nature, but felt I had to do so to let others know to think twice before dining here.

We went on a Monday and we were led to believe that they opened at 11am, upon arrival, roughly 11:20am, a young man was setting up the tables and chairs and informed us they were still closed, fair enough I thought, I have got the times wrong, it's not the end of the world, I told him why I went so early because I believed they opened at that time, only for him to go on Google, check himself and told me it's definately 12pm opening time, as if he was calling me a liar to my face. Really really poor experience - if I could give zero or negative score I would - we work nearby and had arranged to go to the Faversham for a team lunch - downloaded the menu, no problems, everyone chose what they wanted and a couple of days beforehand rang up to book a table and give the order. No response, the phone just rang and rang at all times of the day and evening during stated opening hours. No worries we thought, you can book by email according to the website so we did the day before and then headed over there in good time today. Well what a surprise when we got there - given that this is a pub with opening hours clearly stated on its website with no hint of any issues - that there was a sign outside saying "closed for a private event". That's fair enough, I suppose, although really, on a Wednesday lunch time? My issue is that there was no mention of this on the website and the fact that no-one answers the phone means that we had no way of knowing there was a problem until we got there. Shocking customer service - absolutely atrocious. Fortunately we managed to get in somewhere else without a booking after a 10 minute hike to Woodhouse Lane - and the 12 of us probably won't be visiting the Faversham again any time soon in light of this experience. Plus all the word of mouth recommendations you won't be getting. I understand the university runs some business management courses - maybe you should think about going on one??

I have been here a few times for working lunch and although pricey, the food is reasonable I guess and it's convenient if you work nearby. On visiting last week (2nd June 2017), with a party of 8, we were given a table on bar stools. To be fair, we hadn't booked in advance, so I guess that's fair enough. We all ordered. I went for a coke (note: if you want a pint of coke, make sure you ask for it, otherwise you get a 1/2 pint) the burger and the twice-fried chips. The rest of the food arrived after about 15 minutes, but mine never arrived. After another 10 minutes I asked where my food was and was told there had been a mix-up and that it would be with me in five minutes (basically, they had given my order to someone else and had to do my whole order again). I explained that I had a meeting in about 20 minutes and also wanted to eat with my party. The best they could offer to solve it was to give it gratis to take out. As I had to go to my meeting, I agreed and took the food for later (it arrived after another 15 minutes). Now we get to the shock - The rest of my party, when paying were told they would have to cough up for the bill (bear in mind, I had left for my meeting). They argued that it should have been free and were told to pay. After some arguing and the staff behind the counter making shocking comments in front of (and about) my colleagues, to which my colleague had to say "You do know we're stood right here, don't you?", they finally agreed to 50% of the bill and the coke I ordered for free. My colleagues, needing to return to work, just paid.To be honest, the staff that I saw weren't the people I'd seen before, but they were quite rude and didn't seem interested that my order was completely missed. I sat and watched my friends all eat their meals and had nothing but a coke. Then, when I finally got around to eating my cold burger and charcoal chips (more like 5-times fried), I then had to find the money for my colleague so they weren't left out of pocket..Therefore, if your food doesn't come, and it's unlikely to arrive so you can eat with your friends, my advice would be to just say you don't want it and leave with your friends - If they offer it for free to take away, they will just make your friends pay once you've left- really not worth the hassle. For me - never again.. It's not like they are the only choice in the area...

Hannah, the events coordinator did a brilliant job of providing information, tailoring the wedding to meet our requirements and answering all our questions. I would highly recommend this as a wedding venue - whatever your requirements. We had a relatively small do with 60 then around 100 people later in the evening. If you wanted extravagance, you can certainly achieve that as there is plenty of space to decorate creatively and invite loads more people - or if you want simple, it still looks really nice. We opted for the street food buffet and curry later on. All our guests were raving about how nice the food was. We could not have asked for more and are very grateful.

We booked a table of 3 for the bottomless dinner for Tuesday 20th December at 6pm.Leading up to the date, I was emailing someone called Hannah to arrange the booking and pre-order which I sent.Upon arriving, the room was decorated so nicely, really Christmas-y and with a lovely atmosphere. However the greeting we received did not mirror this. Walking through the door, there was a male member of staff slouched against the beginning of the bar, bending over on his phone. When we walked in, I mentioned we had booked and pre-ordered. I was then told that I hadn’t pre-ordered, which I had. The team member was very argumentative, so much so I had to show him the email I had sent to prove I had pre-ordered! He then asked me why I was emailing Hannah when she wasn’t in (?!) that was the email I had been given, and I was just responding to emails she had sent, how were we supposed to know she wasn’t in to pick up my replies? The whole situation made us feel very uncomfortable and it’s a good job we weren’t a large booking because it all seemed very un-organised. Even though the service during the meal did drastically improve as we were served by two other lovely team members, it’s a shame because the first impression down to our greeting put a downer on the whole evening. The food was of an OK standard. The terrine starter however, was not! It was tasteless. So much so you could not taste the meat at all, there was no seasoning, and if I didn’t know it was supposed to be meat, I wouldn’t of been able to guess as it was so bland. Both of us who ordered this, left our starters. The main course Christmas dinner was nice, we received 1 slice of turkey and a tiny sausage which seemed a very small portion size compared to how much we paid. However the huge amount of vegetables which were brought to us on the table was very over powering, and obviously trying to mask the tiny amount of meat we received. They were cooked nicely though, and the gravy was very tasty. One of the reasons we chose to come here was for the “bottomless” experience, and we really feel we didn’t get our money’s worth. The staff weren’t attentive enough when it came to refilling our drinks, so it was more of a nuisance to have to grab their attention all of the time. The main point though, was how little we felt welcomed. We booked for 6, and online it says you close at 9. We weren’t made aware at any point of us having to leave early when I booked, or of any earlier closing times because it’s midweek. When we arrived, there were two other tables, however soon after they left, and by 6.45 we were the only customers. We were looking forward to staying after our 90mins was up, having more drinks or maybe a desert, but it was made quite clearly we had to get out. And before our 90mins was even up, the staff started cleaning around us, taking candles off tables, etc – closing! Promptly after our last drink was served, we were brought the bill, as a “get out” kind of gesture. Overall we were very disappointed and wouldn’t return.

I was invited to the Slingsby Gin event The Faversham was hosting and left incredibly impressed. Having worked in hospitality I am not a stranger to spirit training sessions and I found this function very engaging and informative. In regards to the venue, I felt extremely comfortable in the cosy festive setting The Faversham has set out to project this season. All the staff were friendly and approachable throughout my visit, I would be more than happy to recommend a friend visit for a winter warmer.

We recently had our wedding at the Faversham and had the most perfect experience. Having shopped around lots of wedding venues we hadn't found anything that suited us until we met Hannah at the Faversham. She listened to our style and what we wanted before building the exact relaxed and foodie occasion we had hoped for.The chef was fantastic and we had the luxury of requesting whatever food we wanted - which a lot of other venues couldn't offer. They also sourced additional drink options that were important to us making the planning even easier for us. We received so many compliments on the day from our family and friends as to how great the food was, from the incredible canapes to the street food night food.Throughout our whole experience the staff at the Faversham really made this the special memory that it was. Hannah is a fantastic asset to the company and the whole team offered personal and exemplary service throughout. They far surpassed our expectations and for that we can ask for nothing more.On top of all this, they were also the best value for money in comparison to other wedding spaces. It was like the icing on the cake.

I had my wedding here on the 17th of July it is a fantastic venue the staff where spot on and very helpful Hannah was amazing and made our day perfect. The food we chose that was served tasted fantastic and we got so many compliments for it. The venue is spacious and for hire for the entire day means you and your guests can party all day and night. I would recommend to anyone and everyone

I used to go to the Faversham with my research team because it was nearby and the food, service and the general atmosphere was nice. However, either the owners changed or they have changed their business strategy. Last week I went there with one of my staff members to have a snack + drink to relax from a long working day, and it was terrible. A pint of Erdinger beer for £4.50 and they even asked if I needed a glass. We ordered sweet potato fries for £3, which never arrived. When we were about to finish our pints and we went to the till asking about our sweet potato fries...they said that they erroneously delivered them to another table and now they had none left to make new. When asked when they were going to tell us, they shrugged and offered a refund or an alternative snack. We settled for a refund and won't come back. Poor service, poor value for money, not what it used to be. Strongly advise against going there at the moment.

Evidently, a favorite place to eat, if you don't want just a quick bite, near campus. The food is good, though not out of the ordinary. The staff is friendly and the setting is quite pleasant. Definitely worth the short walk from the university, especially if you are fed up with refec food.

Came here for a work lunch, catch up with colleagues and they seem to have a newish menu. Quite a few interesting and different dishes, and lots aimed at vegetarians which was great. Had the Halloumi salad, it was very fresh, tasted nice - not quite enough variety in the salad part for me but still really good. I'd recommend the sweet potato to go with it.Quick service, they didn't rush us out when we were finished either. Good selection of drinks. If you are in the area it is one of the nicer places to eat at.

Although the music was a refreshing change from what one usually encounters in Leeds, and the clientele was perfectly pleasant, I had a less than satisfactory night. The main problem rests with their choice of door staff. On at least the night I attended they epitomised the stereotype of an awkward bouncer; that of a man with overdeveloped muscles, an underdeveloped mind and such crippling insecurities that they seek self justification in exercising their arbitrary powers on whichever unfortunate happens to catch their eye. Furthermore, complaints to the management present fell on such deaf ears that I dare say they could not care less about the enjoyment of their clients. Think twice before visiting this establishment of an evening.

I hadn't been to the Faversham for a couple of years (it used to be my local) so the recent reviews were off-putting. I had a totally different lunch-time experience - we were served at our table; my car parking permit was brought immediately; the staff were attentive and very efficient. Best of all, of course, the food was delicious and the coffee seriously strong and hot. I ate in the conservatory - other parts of the Faversham are dark and more suited to night-time get-togethers. I didn't try the beer so can't comment on that, and don't know what the evening service might be like, but for lunch (for business or with friends) it's definitely worth a visit.

We've been going here for the last 10 years on and off. The beer is always only allright. The prices are too high. It's the most difficult place to get in unless you've been there before. The food is actually really good, but it's the staff that are the problem there. They just don't care. And they don't have any common sense. Every time I go there I wonder why I went.

From the minute we visited this venue last year we loved it. Hayley has been nothing a short of outstanding in her support. Leading up to the day, nothing was too much and she approached everything in such a relaxed and confident manner which put us completely at ease. As for the day itself, I can honestly only use perfect to describe it. The staff were amazing, the venue looked fantastic and the food was absolutely delicious. I'm tempted to get married again just to host it here! Everyone should go and enjoy this brilliant place.

Really baffled by some of the poor reviews on here about The Faversham. We visited here at the weekend as guests at a wedding reception. Found the staff really helpful and a good choice of drinks reasonably priced. Only criticism would be toilets could have been a bit cleaner but this was late in the day on a fairly drunken event so they can't be kept pristine at all times. A pleasant surprise really bearing in mind some of the reviews.

I stumbled upon this place by chance when visiting Leeds last year. I'm shocked to read some of the reviews below as my experience of The Faversham was nothing less than fabulous! The beers, ciders, wines and the menu choices were beyond what I would have expected and the staff were friendly, knowledgeable and very willing to offer advice on what to order. Will definately be returning here when I am back in Leeds!

Made the trip here for lunch a couple of weeks ago having not been for a long time. Wish I hadn't bothered. Seems to be staffed by black-clad, surly 20-somethings who have no concept of customer service. Food was poor. Companion had Quinoa salad - slimy vegetables in a sea of bullet-like pulses. I had a burger. Served rare (which was not requested and wouldn't usually bother me if I was sure about the origin of the meat...) and chips of the type that you get in the worst kind of chain pub. The place has a certain unappetising smell which I guess is something to do with the reams of teenagers who regularly vomit in the place after club nights. Toilets not easily accessible (through the gig venue) and not up to much either. Best avoided I'd say.

Confronted by a very rude manager, Hayley, who really did NOT want to help. Had booked lunch for some important clients, who decided they wanted a bit of privacy. We asked if we could sit outside and a blatant NO with no compromise was offered. Lack of staff was used as an excuse, but as it was 1345 and everyone there had finished their lunch, it felt very much like she just wanted to get rid of us so she could knock off early or something. The fact that she said " we don't need your service" , when I said it was poor, was the final straw. Shame, as i have an affinity for the place, since I've been going for over 20 years! Hopefully new staff will be in soon. Have had much better experiences.

There were a group of about 7 of us going out to the faversham last night and we queued for roughly half an hour to get into this disappointing bar. When we got to the front my friend, who's birthday it was, was told to remove her birthday sash and tiara by the RUDEST and GROSSEST bouncer I have ever encountered. When she did this and we were eventually let in, he then decided to kick her out for no reason just because he had taken a disliking to her... the nerve! When we asked why she had been told to leave it was because 'it's his f**** choice to kick out who he wants'. He was so rude to us and we won't be going back again. It's not even that good in there anyway.

After a ton of wedding reception research we finally settled on The Faversham. It held the kind of numbers we were thinking of, let us bring our own food and had the kind of atmosphere we were looking for. Unfortunately after we paid our deposit that's where the good times ended! Poor planning and coordination on the actual day left a bride in tears and very disgruntled guests. We complained in writing and after receiving a promise to look into what happened we are still waiting two months later!

Until several recommendations from friends I hadn't considered visiting Faversham due to its perception of being a bar/ night venue. Despite this they clearly have tried to revamp its image with a great terrace and atmospheric conservatory restaurant. The menu is seasonal with a good variety between sandwiches, burgers, salads and platters (amongst others) and well suited to it's now popular lunchtime trade. In addition I've also dined here in the evening to try its Burger and Drink deal which is far more reasonable and superior to any pub grub.On my most recent visit I went for the meat platter and certainly wasn't disappointed; although a salad was required to bulk out the meal a little. There was a nice selection of cured meats, pate and most significantly an outstanding pulled pork bon-bon (I would go back and have this again just for the bon-bon). The salad was also great with a lovely summer dressing. There's a large selections of ales, ciders, wines and coffees too which is a nice bonus. An area of improvement would be a dessert menu or even homemade cakes to go with the coffee.Overall a great spot for lunch and weather permitting a lovely suntrap terrace to enjoy too

The Faversham is overall a lovely experience. The location is not ideal and a little difficult to find, but once one site it has a lovely outside area which is prefect for summer. Everything from the lighting to the music makes it a really warm an relaxing place. The food is very tasty and is very reasonably priced and it's always nice to see a smaller menu which is altered more frequently. On every other occasion I have been the food has been absolutely outstanding and cannot fault it at all.... until now. The only small tings to report is the Fettuccini was bland and the chef forgot to take the s#*t sack out of the prawns so just watch out for that if your planning on going.Really small things which just let the place down... jus needs fine tuning very slightly.

Visited The Faversham for my birthday. Beautifully crafted building with an amazing outdoor teepee during Christmas period. The food was the best I have tasted in a very long time, freshly made with precise attention to detail and well considered menus offering fine dining to a standard I really never expected prior to visiting. The presentation of the food only added to the list of positives. Combined with excellent value for money, a simple and effective wine list, pleasant staff and a relaxed atmosphere, this restaraunt is certainly top of my list in the Leeds area now.
