Spot on 97% of the time, my husband and I are regular customers. Best breakfast in the region by far, service USUALLY exceptionally good on a rare occasionon only 70%, we go on motorcycle, in his truck or by car, 97% for friendly service, always clean.

We had a late full English breakfast each with hot drinks. The food was cooked to order and to perfection from good quality ingredients. The drinks were also very good and served in good sized mugs. Service was quick, efficient and friendly. No frills and the decor was a little tired, but we cam for the food, not for an experience. The toilet facilities were spotlessly clean. No issues with parking etc. Finally, the bill came to £12.70 for two big breakfasts accompanied by hot drinks. Great value and highly recommended.

Called in here this morning for breakfast.wish we hadn’t bothered.the sausages looked like they had been Cooked the day before and cooked again.bacon cold and not nice .the eggs were cold and hard yolks.cold beans and mushrooms.the cup of tea was nice though.wont be returning.

Phoned in advance to check they were open. They were but we needed to get there inside 10 minutes. We did this with two minutes to space . On arrival we were met with two grumpy women who told us all the things they didn’t have and how the egg pan was now off. Essentially we could have the leftovers from breakfast services. Having been made to feel very unwelcome, we left.

Top scran. Been using it for years. Foods always good and plenty of it. Well worth stopping by if you are in the area.

The food and service here are 1st class I use it nearly every weekend on route to fishing. It opens at six which is perfect and is also right off the M18 junction 1.

It may not be shown up on the Eat Out to Help Out list but it certainly ranks well in the local 'value for money' - especially at these hard times. Both of the (different) meals we ordered were more than we could actually finish eating but were certainly very pleasant. The environment was well laid out to provide the safety required at this time and the staff attention put us both very much at ease. If you wish to have a very satisfactory meal then I would recommend you make your way to this location - plenty of space to park and certainly sufficient room inside !

Poor hygiene standards, often rude, can't add up, food terrible. Avoid. Stay healthy. When complained they blamed me.

Stayed here about 5 times...great food and staff, clean showers, parking price not a rip off. Wrote my number plate and company name on sheet when paying just after 9pm, didn't need food that night. June 1st..EY16...got to sleep after a 14 hour day, but a knock on the door from security 10.30!!! Not on list apparently. Showed my receipt through window, but had to open door and take pad to put my details down AGAIN!!! "Did you forget?"... No, it'll be on the CCTV too. This is during covid too, so had to give my hands a good scrub after. Why do the security guys have to shout to each other past 11pm too, for no good reason when people are sleeping?!! I've still given this place a good rating as truckers could do with more places this good, I'll go there again but a good sleep is needed.

Having had meals here before, we decided to visit yet again as it was handy to our location. Was provided with two different meals that satisfied both of us - in each case there was more than enough to satisfy our hunger (excellent value for money) !!

Having just landed at East Midlands airport early morning my partner said he was taking me for a slap up English breakfast. Didn't know where the hell he was taking me when we drove through an industrial estate! But I needn't have worried as when we pulled up at this place I was pleasantly surprised. The breakfast was amazing and brilliant value for money! Would definitely recommend!

We passed this place many times but called in this dinner I had fish n chips they were beaut Martyn had the home made pie you get loads We enjoyed it will def call again. Also they took dogs In. Bonus Nice oldy worldly pub. Cannot fault the food And very friendly staff.

Called in whilst passing after a dog walk. Although the dog wasn't allowed in the restaurant, we were welcomed in to the entrance area where there are a few tables. This wasn't a problem, it met our needs! The staff were very friendly and brought the dog a drink of water and some beef bits. My partner and I had a carvery and I had gluten free gravy made specially for me. A very enjoyable, pleasant carvery and a nice glass of Strongbow for me too! Will definitely return.

We were travelling from Leicestershire to Masham and decided to make a coffee stop here. The service is prompt and efficient and the prices are reasonable. The toilets are ok too.

I visited the Stockyard truck-stop with a group of South Yorkshire car club members. It was my first time here and it does have character and a quirkiness about it. It was very busy on a Sunday with the carvery. You buy a ticket at the bar and then go through to the 'restaurant' and get in line at the service counter. The day we were there there were 3 kinds of roast meat on offer, beef, pork loin and gammon. We had bought the 'large' carvery ticket (£7.75 I think it was) which means you get a generous helping of meat. They also serve you roast potatoes and Yorkshire Pudding, you then serve your own veggies and gravy. I think the vegetable selection could have been better to be honest, the choice was boiled carrots, cabbage and cauliflower cheese. The cabbage wasn't particularly green and so my plate lacked a bit of 'green' on it. The meat was very good though as was the gravy. The dining area is very cramped (tables close together). All in all a place with an atmosphere and reasonably priced food. The car park is massive as you'd expect for a truck-stop. Located in an industrial site my Sat Nav didn't take me quite to the right place when using the postcode, so it may be best to search for "The Stockyard" on your Sat Nav instead.

Had seen this Truck Stop on a tv programme and decided to give it a try as it was around half way through a journey. Lovely, tasty food at very reasonable price. Friendly staff. Will definitely visit again.

Paid £44 for three adults and five children at 15:15 on the Sunday, when we went to get served in the room that serves Carvery we were told we have run out of vegetables, no apology no refund just beef and greasy roasts. Will definitely not go again, absolutely disgusted.

Truck driver had fish and chip meal great staff very nice tonight ,little bit expensive but nice Plenty parking for hgv showers ,bar ,carvery or some other meals tv in restaurant

I cum here all the time this is the first time I didn't enjoy my dinner my girlfriend had a regular I had a large there was no difference between the regular and my large dinner I got two pieces of really fin meat normally u get loads in past they put your meat on for u roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings then rest u help your self but to day you couldn't did I got served was like a kids meal if it happens again I not be coming back I will go elsewhere

Good food and you get a full plate . Don't walk away needing more Nice bar on site not to expensive.

I've been here quite a few times now and each time I come I have a carvery it's either cold or lukewarm I like my dinner hot not cold

It was average, certainly cheaper than motorway services but the food was nothing special and the coffee was weak. The staff were friendly, service was quick and, even though the decor looks a little tired, it was clean.

Being a Lorry driver I sometimes use this truck stop both in the day and for over night stops.in the day time the food is faultless and if you are really lucky you may get a polite smile from the members of staff who clearly hate Lorry drivers who demand a standard of service...then you get to the evening

Situated just off the M18, next to Rotherham, this place serves a delicious home-cooked carvery. We have called in here twice over the last year, both whilst on our way to East Midlands Airport and it beats any motorway service station, hands-down. The quality of the Sunday carvery is superb and despite it being a truck stop in the middle of an industrial estate, the pub and eating area area are not what you'd expect. It is styled in a quirky, retro-style way with plenty of tables. Staff are very friendly and whole place is very clean & welcoming. Carvery is great value, too. A choice of regular or large portions, but regular was more than ample for both myself and my hubby.

I occasionally pop into this Truck Stop whilst enroute to a delivery.

5 if us called in for a work breakfast.mist had the stockyard item and it was filling. Shame tea and coffee were not included in the price. However once paid and you have a meal they are refillable. Very friendly staff. Clean and tidy and worth a visit if you don't mind a transport cafe.

Went with the wife a few times, never a let down, staff attentive food fresh and hot, good atmosphere, drinks are cheap enough, ample parking spaces.

Good wholesome food well prepared and presented. The staff were helpful and pleasant. Choice of two eating areas, we prefer either.

Enjoyed a carvery here. Even though the carvery finishes at 4 pm and it was 3.30 when we arrived, there was still plenty of hot tasty food available,(NOT just scrag ends - which I thought may have been the case). Happy to find that the gravy was gluten free and staff helpful with allergen information. Reasonably priced too. Will be back.

Great truck stop and very friendly. Just had omelette chips and the omelette was ok but the chips were disgusting. An insult to every good person they dare to dish them up to. Just hollow and full of oil, not one decent chip on the plate. How hard can it be to cook chips???

Why would you stop at a motorway services when you could stop here? Prompt friendly breakfast service. Loadsa parking, even for cars. Big thumbs on the bathrooms!

Now this is a real truckers dinner and cheap truck parking as well always a good place to stay and so close to the motorway

So as a family we visit the stockyard very frequently for instance, we have been 4 weeks running. The Sunday just gone we experienced the most vile rude staff. The bar staff are always lovely and pleasant but when going to the carvery they were the complete opposite. The young lady who was taking the tickets just said 'tickets' when we approach no please, no hello... nothing. When I said what I would like and she didn't hear just went 'WHAT' so again very nice customer service. She was rude to everyone in our party of 8.When one of my family asked for some sauce they just went 'it's over there' in a monotone huffy state. And when she came to collect our empty glasses again we were approached with rudeness and not a please or thank you in sight:This pub has so much character and the food is fantastic the bar staff always have manners towards you but I just can't believe the customer service we experienced and this is why I am rating 1. This is such a shame. Bring back the lovely elderly ladies who used to work there and always gave service with a smile.

Parked up at The Stockyard decided to have a carvery not the best but not bad for only £7.50 Nice atmosphere with a bar and quiet area. Staff very friendly and that's what counts so in all I'd say very good value for money.

Visited here for first time for Sunday dinner 09/10/16, there was a large party of us so we rang beforehand to be told we wouldn't need to book a table and to just turn up. When we arrived there were no spare tables, after wandering around we asked a lady who was clearing tables how we go about waiting for a table etc as we'd never been before. Her attitude was shocking and she just said "Well you will have to wait in the foyer" I asked wait there to be called? Do we find our own table? What do we do? To which she just huffed "If there are no tables then I cant help you" What lovely attitude to have towards your customers! We eventually found our own table when people had left and we had to clear it of dirty plates, cuttlery and glasses. When queing for the carvery we heard the staff there moaning to people in front of us about being short staffed and that they had been there since 6am. The food was lovely, meat very tender (beef & pork) the prices were also very good for what you get so I think we will visit again but its a shame that the staff have such bad attitudes towards both customers and their job! It doesnt make this place feel welcoming or accomodating and we almost felt like we were a burden having our lunch there!

Been here several times and it's pretty much like any other chain such as Wetherspoons or Sizzling. What you get for what you pay is perfectly exceptable, if you want fine cuisine pay more and go to a restaurant. The place is a newish old style pub, the interior has an olde English pub theme and rather nice it is.

Have called in here a couple of times for Lunch. Usually had Homemade steak pie mash and veg and gravy. Man sized portions and a good atmosphere.

My daughter and her friend enjoyed a Sunday carvery . Good value food and a good atmosphere. Will definitely be visiting again.

I often visit the stockyard with the other half for Sunday lunch. I have a small plate and he has a large. The only difference is I get 2 slices of meat and there is 3 slices on the large. Prices are very reasonable but I like it because the food is hot and fresh. The only gripe I have had in the past is that the beef was inedible. So we always have the pork or gammon . Yorkshire puddings are huge and home made and there is a good choice of vegetables. Very samey every time but I don't have to cook or wash up and it suits us fine.

Been wanting to stop at The Stockyard for a while now so when i was in the area i gave it ago.There is no comparison whatsoever to this place and your usual motorway service area ...this place wins hands down.Clean hot showers,home cooked food washed down with a cold pint of Stella and plenty of parking spaces.And all for a reasonable fair price.When i'm in the area again i'll definetly be visiting The Stockyard.

Superb food although this a a truck stop always full of locals enjoying the pub atmosphere always use this facility whenever possible

Attended a kids football tournament at Wickersley School Sunday 5th July 2015 and decided to see if the Stockyard was open on the Hellaby Industrial Estate. Not been for a while as we live at Chapeltown. Yes it was so had a few drinks outside in the sun then a huge plate full of fabulous freshly cooked food from the carvery. 3 large cuts of roast beef and unlimited veg all for £7.50. Pay at the bar for food and no wait just find a table. No other place around can compare with the quality of this and the beers were great ice cold and a good price. Will be back very soon.

We went today for Father's Day lunch, 8 adults and 2 kids, we went for the Sunday carvery, I booked a table and we arrived on time got served a drink and shown our table we all had different meats from the selection in my case two slices gammon two beef all good sized and cooked perfect, usuall selection vegatables so a real great family day out, great atmosphere friendly staff a great place to visit will go back again

We love the Stock Yard! The food is amazing, even the sandwiches, and the dark interior very relaxing. Although on the surface, this is a truck stop, it's always been full of a wide range of people when we've visited. There is also a restaurant that offers a carvery in the evenings and Sunday lunch. The décor is really interesting and it's just a lovely relaxed atmosphere all round. We have our business meetings there!

Stopped there on severall occasions as driving my truck up that way all the time I found the resturaunt very ecceptable havent used the bar as I dont work and drink and drive food is what you expect from this type of establishment fair priced and very tasty girls do seem to chat up there regulars but it seems harmless banter too me truck parking is excellent but get there early on the evening as it fills up quick

Always good food but this time6 people complained about most of the food been cold but staff just kept saying it's hot So why have 6 people say it's cold ???Not very good customer service

Although this is actually a truck stop it is well worth a visit if you appreciate really good food, cooked to perfection. From 5pm there is a 3 joint carvery or mouthwatering meat and potato pie, with a brilliant selection of veg. They also serve an excellent selection of salads and the usual fish, chips etc. the difference is that everything is freshly cooked.

the food at the Stockyard is really nice. Plenty of it and hot, which to me is everything. I think it is mainly for truckers but we were made to feel very welcome. The lady collecting the dirty plates was lovely, I think she told us she was in her 80s and the job kept her going. It was really friendly and will def. go again.

Gave it 2nd chance. Even worse than 1st visit. Food acceptable but barmaid made me feel uncomfortable like I was putting her out and she had better things to do. Blonde bob and chubby look out for her and avoid !!!

This has got to be the best place to stop. Reasonably priced good hearty food and clean. Nothing is too much trouble and even cooked me the best ham and mushrooms omelette I have ever tasted (not even on the menu)Friendly staff and good atmosphere. Keep up the good work.

Well I'm sat in stockyard as I write this I just can't believe how bad it's got it use to be amazing. But not any more ordered poached egg on toast when it came all 4 eggs where cook rock hard I ask for it to be changed only for it to be brought back out with only 2 of the eggs changed but they were cooked right through anyway! And the same toast which by this point was wet and soggy. Not coming back again use to be the best truck stop about but not its one of the worst goole is far better and that isn't great.

Parked my truck there last night in the early hours of the morning. no problem. Went to go in at 11am for food and a shower and it was shut. apparently 10 am on saturdays.Thats a bit lame.Stopped there on numerous occasions, the service and food has been ok. But, they seem more willing to cater for the night time pub trade.which is a bit country and western and full of old women in fishnets and truckers who think they're in the film 'Convoy' . Good luck with that. 10-4 good buddy

Barmaid too busy chatting up truckers. Paid little attention to what I was saying and therefore ended up getting my order wrong. First and last visit !

Been to the Truck Stop many times for drinks, love the atmosphere, Tuesday and Wednesdays are great with the Karaoke. There is always someone who will chat with you, regulars and truckers. Drinks are very cheap, and free roast potatoes on the bar at supper time. Tried a carvery there and it was great value for money. Don't be coming here and expecting A-LA-CARTE, but this is a great roast dinner.

parked at truck stop for the first time this week reasonable priced for overnight parking but with only a £2 meal voucher have to pay the difference for your food which is were the title comes from i ordered the meal i wanted to be told sorry this is sold out so i ordered another from a pretty much limited choice for a restaurant catering for general public as well truck drivers handed over my £2 voucher and presented my debit card (not credit card) to be told there will be a surcharge to use your card despite pointing out it was a bank debit card instant paid out of my account with no charge made by the bank to the truck stop i was told dos'nt matter sir we charge extra for everything paid by any card hmmmmmmmm wont be stopping here again

Thought we would give it a try as it has good reviews and we were quite disappointed! Drinks and carvery were reasonably priced, but we found the food to be very bland and tasteless! The mash was very lumpy with raw bits of potatoe, cabbage just cooked, but the meat was lovely!! My partner had the pie and that was nothing to write home about!! The meat in the pie was chewy!! Rather disappointed as it has good reviews!!

Situated right in the middle of industrial estate just off M18. If you are on the drink, you will need a taxi.We tried the Sunday carvery and it was very good in terms of quality and vfm. Staff were polite. I would say that it is definitely more a cafe atmosphere than a restaurant and you wouldn't take your partner there on first date (not unless you didn't want a 2nd).Have only tried eveneing entertainment once and there was a good atmosphere there.Worth a visit.

We have been to the Stockyard a few times for their very good carvery and noticed that they do entertainment a few times a week , we had friends stopping over and decided to take them to the karaoke night there .....What a fun packed night we had ! There were some really good singers there (and some not quite so good) but it was a brilliant and friendly atmosphere and plenty of good beer.... my husband didn't quite drink enough to go up and and sing his rendition of "Wild Thing" though.Our visitors said they had a great time.The Stockyard is a stopping off point just off the M18 motorway at Hellaby near Rotherham, used for overnighters for lorries , the parking area is huge , if i was a lorry driver i would make sure i stopped here every time if travelling North . It is built from reclaimed materials and is very tastefully done and resembles an old world pub inside and out .

Love this little gem, dont be put off by the fact its on a industrial estate or that its a truck stop, the staff are very friendly and the beer is great, also at a very reasonable price.Never eaten here as it only serves at set times and never been while the food has been on. I would highly recommend this pub, just a shame i dont live nearer.

It's my local and you are very welcome who ever you are, everyone is friendly. The food is great value and drinks must bevthe cheapest around. The bar has a propper pub atmosphere

We eat out everywhere and the stockyard is great value for good service and great food we thought. 1st time we went the cutlery was dirty but we gave the place the benefit of the doubt and have since returned. Lovely and well recommended.

Well my family and myself have been visiting for a few years now , we love everything about the place , the cleanliness and friendly staff , the food is good quality and reasonably priced ! So what more could one wish for ? The staff are fantastic and hard working they make each visit a pleasure

Had a few bar meals here and must say it is cheap, and fairly good value for money. But no way is it great.Good things like home made chips, but that last time I ate here, last week, the chips were under cooked and hard in the middle. Not being able to cook chips correctly is not good!The ham sandwich was ok but basic, cheap pappy bread. The salad accompaniment was a joke, a small piece of lettuce, 2 slices of pepper and a quarter of a small tomato, no dressing.Don't get me wrong, for an up market transport cafe this is good, but no way is it 5 stars and restaurant.Also they have Timmy Taylors Landlord, which is not kept very well at all, so sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s bad!

need I say more, good food, good beer, good showers all at reasonable prices and attended to by very polite and good people . Would highly recommend the carvery, but whatever you have it's all home cooked.

Found these reviews and thought we would give it a try. We were glad we did. Best carvery we have had for years. Fresh beef joint that melted in your mouth with all fesh real veg. Nothing frozen or microwaved. Carveries £7.50 but cheaper midweek and puds at £2.50. Wife had jam sponge and custard I had apple pie and custard huge portions and delicious. If you dont want carvery they have fish and chips and pie etc. Beers cheap at just over £2 a pint. This will be our regular haunt now even though it's 20 minute drive up the motorway. Well worth it.

I've eaten here with my fiancee and friends for breakfast quite a few times over the past few years and it never fails to come up to standard. Last ate there 17/2/13 for breakfast and even though we'd not eaten there for quite a while, the food was just as tasty and good value for money. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. I'd guess if you were in the middle of a long journey and came across The Stockyard, you'd feel your luck was in, no overpriced plastic food here, all freshly cooked and satisfying.

Do not be put off by the fact that this is a truck stop, the inside will amaze you. The soft lighting in the bar, the beams and the open fire give it a very olde worlde feel. The food though not Michelin standard is very very good. The staff and service is second to none. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays there is an excellent karaoke and on Thursdays and Saturdays there is a superb organist. The prices are very reasonable and for comfort and relaxation it is an oasis for the traveler, be they in a car or a lorry.

Having been to The Stockyard many times over the past 12 years I cannot recommend this place Highly enough. Situated at the end of an industrial estate off M18 Jct 1 is the ideal place to park up for the night in your truck and enjoy a night out like you would in your hometown on a weekend. Popular with locals just as much as drivers The Stockyard offers good quality home cooked food, the breakfasts and carvery are the most popular and probably the best value pint in the country. Showers are available to freshen up and the staff will do anything to make your stay comfortable. Karaoke is on Tues and Wed and Ian plays the organ to a range of singers on a Thurs and Sat. A great atmosphere and a credit to the late Trevor Potts who's dream became reality to give his customers the best.
