We were a party of six adults and two young babies so as grandparents we had our hands full. We were served by Paul who couldn’t do enough to help (fetching drink refills, taking group photos etc). Paul was friendly, cheerful, and efficient - a credit to the business. Food was good and plenty of it. Well done!

We called in without a booking on a Sunday tea time. We were told we could sit at the top end where there was a free table. Although it was busy we found a table, looking around I was shocked at how much food people had left on there plates and not eaten, thinking they must have over plated themselves. On a Sunday the price increases making it around £15 for head. For this extra price you have the option of Lamb, my partner asked for lamb and got the smallest slither that it really wasn’t worth it compared to the size of my beef or my son’s turkey. We stood in the queue for food for 15 minutes as service was slow (even though the staff appeared to be run off their feet). The vegetables were poorly cooked, the roast potatoes burnt on the bottom making them inedible. My beef was fatty and had a sinew running through it, so tough I couldn’t even cut it. I was now one of the people leaving food on my plate. We have eaten here before midweek and found it nice and good value, I would not return on a Sunday again.

Sat at table 26 Sunday. It was super busy today we didn't book but got seated straight away. Server was really good and friendly. The Q for carvery went down pretty quick and the food when we got it was excellent. Everything nice and hot with a nice selection..pudding were also yummy. Server was Darcy. But all staff flying about. Tables cleared and reset in good time. Nice and warm inside with a comfortable atmosphere

The food wasn't good. The meat was scraggy and not fit to eat. The vegetables was dried up and it made the carvery not good. The only good thing was the dessert. Totally dissatisfied and this experience won't make me return quickly. I should have complained on the night even with a voucher our meal wasn't valued for money. It is a while since we came as last time we had a similar experience will have to go to an alternative carvery in future and will not recommend to friends. I have booked our Tai Chi group in for Christmas really hoping for a better experience next time. Not a happy customer.

Quality of the food was diabolical. Rock hard dry potatoes, half the meat not available, not a full selection of veg. We'd experienced this before but thought we'd give this place another try but instantly regretted it. Have been to Toby Carvery in Barnsley and even though it's 30 mins further it is worth the trek as the food is 1000% better every time.

Quantity over quality, roast potatoes too salty to eat. Ran out of bed doing potatoes before 1pm. Ordered dauphinoise potatoes but they have us loaded roast potatoes without saying, when we queried the dauphinoise they said they'd replaced because they didn't have any.

For some reason, they had several seating areas blocked off even as it was getting full. Perhaps they just hadn't gotten around to opening them up yet, but we did have to wander around aimlessly for a seat for a while. The Bacon is a bit unnecessarily wet, which is a shame because the sausages are nicer. If they do use cheaper bacon, perhaps they could either drain it better or cook it a little longer, so it's crispy (that would go great with the pancakes) Similarly, the eggs could probably do with having some solution to them constantly running out. Maybe a big batch of scrambled alongside the popular fried would work. Very pleasant and welcoming server who took our order and in all fairness it was all of the standard you'd probably expect, and of course all very good value for money, too!!

It's a Toby. You know what you're getting. Generous breakfast buffet. Bacon was perfect. Sausages were great. Would've given 5 stars for service if I hadn't had to wait 10 minutes for fresh eggs to be cooked. But that's a risk at buffets. Will visit again. And recommend.

It was grim. Usually love a toby carvery but it took AGES to get food (45+ in the queue) and there was hardly any veg choice. Flys everywhere in the carvery area. Didn’t feel worth the wait nor the cost. Had an upset stomach within 2 hours of dining there. Felt overbooked, like they couldnt cope with the demand, but lots of empty tables so a bit confusing as to what was causing the problems. I could see they were fulfilling lots of takeaway orders so maybe that was causing an issue, who knows.

The worst Toby Carvery we've been to. After driving 3 hours we were looking forward to lunch. First impressions were a filthy front door that looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while along with a grumpy customer that had already left after queuing. We sat down and service was okay until we got to get our carvery. A long wait for what was really just meat, potatoes and parsnips which were burnt. No carrots, no broccoli, no red cabbage just no proper hearty veg. The only options were cabbage, mashed potato, mac and cheese and cauliflower cheese with parnsips. Being dairy free really sucks when you get somewhere with no bloody veg. I did make my comment known but I'd already been waiting ages in a queue so didn't fancy waiting longer for someone to cook me plain cauliflower.

I visited tonight with friends. Im not from this area and can honestly say I'm glad. The worst experience at a Toby carvery No yorkies, we were told a 5 min wait. 15 minutes later the Yorkshire puddings turned up.... well the pancakes did. Absolutely awful. Completely flat. There was no lamb, no beef, no Carrots (apparently there was a sign on the door to notify us of this) But I can honestly say it was the worst and poorest variety of vegetables I've ever experienced in a Toby. No Carrots, no parsnips, no red cabbage, no brocoli, but 4 types of potatoes. So if you want a plate of potatoes then you'll be happy.

Incredible food, beef falls apart like butter in your mouth, stuffing so nicely cooked that it is soft underneath with a crunchy layer on top but not wet like slop like many carvery’s. Such a wide verity of veg and sides like macaroni cheese, cauliflower cheese. The service so delightful and attentive by such young staff. Especially the young lady with the many piercings. Well... Where do I start. Our experience was terrible from the very start. We were stood waiting for about 10 minutes before we were greeted and taken to a table despite it being a very quiet evening. When we were ordering my partner enquired about what was in the vegetable bake as there was no information on the menu, the server responded with "I don't know" and made no attempt to find out. The meat on the carvery was extremely dry, the Yorkshire puddings cold and looked like they'd been left for ages. The roast potatoes were luke warm, dry and also looked like they'd been left out for ages. The stuffing wasn't entirely cooked. The gravy wasnt hot and also looked like it had been left. Now I understand it wouldn't be as fresh as if it was a busier evening but the state of the carvery was terrible. Now although our drinks were brought to us whilst we were waiting the table next to us were halfway through their food before the server brought them empty glasses for the refill machine. After we had finished eating we waited 10 minutes and the server never came to our table so we went to pay at the bar. Stood waiting for 5 minutes before having to get someone's attention. The entire experience was terrible and it was one of the worst experiences I've had eating out. I definitely would not recommend eating here at all.

I have visited this carvery numerous times before, and the quality has normally been very good. however, on this occasion, the vegetables were very dry, having been under the warming lamps too long, and the roast potatoes were extremely hard to cut and eat. I even soaked them in gravy, but some were just too tough. The meat is usually very good quality, but the portions have got a lot smaller.

*** Edit: I was contacted by the venue who were really helpful in talking through the issues. Doesn't change the experience of the night but great to see a the restaurant make a real effort to understand your poor experience. After sales - 10/10 *** This place was disgusting. The food looked like it's been left there for hours. The Yorkshire puddings were pancakes and floppy, the pork was dry and gray. The sausages were burnt completely. The beef looked so old I couldn't bare to try it. Gammon and turkey missing completely. Veg all watery and soggy. Gravy stale. How on earth can a dedicated carvery place get things so badly wrong. Burnt, bland, cooked badly, left for too long. Service was none existent as well. Left for long periods of time with no access to order drinks or deserts for kids. Tried to pay the bill, no one around. Tried to go to the bar to pay, no one even at the bar. This is by far, the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. I've taken videos of the Yorkshire's, the Burned sausages and meat as well as the carvery area that was filthy and empty. Am happy to send them before I stuck them on a YouTube video to review. Honestly, this was so poor.

If I could leave 0 stars, that's exactly what they'd get. It took ages for someone to greet us on arrival to take us to our pre-booked table for 4 people. The manager was more occupied by the party of 28 people (yes 28) than anyone else in the restaurant. We only saw one poor lady waiting on tables which is ridculous on a Saturday evening. We went to the carvery area and I will list out the issues: 1. The meat: the pork looked like it had been cooked for 3 days as it looked dry and like you could knock someone out with it. The turkey was replaced with a full one from the kitchen which one of our party had, and it was stone cold which baffled us - how the hell could it be cold when it was fresh from the kitchen? The beef looked dry and like leather and had fat running through it - one of our party had this and couldn't even cut through it. 2. Yorkshire puddings: I was given the last one that was sat on the counter where everyone's hands had been. No thank you! 3. Stuffing - this looked like it had been sat out for a long time as it was black and dry. We asked for fresh which was brought out and they said oh it's just the way it's cooked - dry and disgusting. 4. Potatoes - the roasties were rock hard and we couldnt cut them. The scalloped potatoes tasted ok but were rock hard. 4. Full onions in gravy - raw in the middle. 5. Veggies - all dry and hard. 6. Mac and cheese - dry as hell. We refused the pay for that nonsense, so the waitress went to speak to the manager who didn't even come to speak to us - and left the poor lady to sort us out. She was the only good thing about the restaurant. The manager should be ashamed of himself, as should all the chefs! Get the picture? For a Toby Carvery, a carvery specialist, to be so bad, how the hell do they stay open? Avoid at all cost!!

We booked well in advance a table for 8 adults and 2 children. When arriving we were greeted well and show to bar as we were a little early. The bar staff to say it simple were hopeless. Serving drinks in red hot classes more concerned about talking to other staff. We were show to our table tucked away in a back corner squashed next to another large booking to leaving us much room at all and very noisy. Most of our party accept to adults staying with children went a got their food. When the other two adults went the queue was unbelievable. It took a solid 20 minutes to get served. Only one chief carving meat. No lamb, and veg was very low. By the time the two of us returned to table everyone one else had finished their meal. One receiving the bill it was wrong with teams on it that we hadn’t had, this took another 15 mins to sort out. The reason why we booked the Toby Carvery was to remember our grandsons heavenly birthday. His other grandparents had come over from Boston USA. The whole experience was awful. No senior staff on all young people who really don’t seem bothered or had little training. Your reply is not correct. You have us mixed up with another table. Our bill wasn’t split 4 ways. I paid the bill all in one transaction… this just proves my point… you don’t know what happening right under your own roof.

We visited Toby Carvery with friends yesterday and, unfortunately, had a disappointing experience due to slow and poor service. Despite the restaurant not being overly busy, we waited 40 minutes just to place our drinks order. After that, the delays continued as we had to wait for our drinks and to place our food orders. The constant waiting detracted from what should have been an enjoyable meal with friends. We understand that sometimes restaurants experience unforeseen delays, but this experience left us feeling disappointed. We hope to see improvements in service in the future.

The food alone warrants a 1-star review, however the manager dealt with it in a fair manner which means I'll be giving 3 stars overall. We were seated very quickly with a booking however waited 10 minutes for our order to be taken, which would've been fine had the two servers not just been wandering back and forth asking people who already had their food if it was ok. Our empty drink glasses took a further 10 minutes, which again, would be fine had we actually ordered drinks they had to make, but we were waiting for empty glasses which surely takes a minute max. Onto the food, the meat was fine, the rest of it was horrid. Potatoes, peas, mac n cheese, stuffing, mash, all stale & some completely flavourless, I managed to force it down after a long day working with no food, my partner managed a few mouth fulls before giving up as it was horrible. We got chatting to the table next to us who fully agreed with us & also stated had they not had their kids with them they would've complained too, but didn't want potential confrontation. We've been a few times before to Dronfield & it's always been great, today was our first Sunday visit and it was a real let down. The manager, sadly I didn't get her name, dealt with it by taking the food & drinks off our bill entirely, I didn't expect nor want this, I was more just after recognition that the food was bad & maybe a discount for our next visit at best, but she went up a level and didn't let us pay for anything which was very appreciated. We will be back, in the week some time, and hopefully it'll live up to the expectations we've previously had as another visit like today would definitely be my last. Overall, terrible food, OK waiters but a very understanding & helpful manager.

Ordered takeaway carvery on line. Disappointed with vegetables as only carrots, loads of peas, cauliflower, roast potatoes and gravy. If eat in get more choice. Was cold after a few minutes. Not much meat.Another visit. Ate in . Pleasant staff. Good meats and vegetable choice.Visited on October 13th. Pleasant staff. Good meat choice and vegetables. No sanitiser on entry or next to refillable drinks machine. Carver had no time for any conversation other than to ask size of carvery plate and what meat you wished to have!! On a repeat visit, carver pleasant . Quite a queue to get carvery but efficient service. Tables quite close together which disliked. Had cranberry sauce today.Good meats on recent visit . No apple sauce again Could benefit from having some ventilation.return visit. Good choice of meats and veg. Sat in airy part. Return visit and front of house staff very pleasant. Carver could benefit from customer service training. Return visit in March. Friendly staff. Ice machine still not working. Roast potatoes over cooked as too hard.Return visit. Was seated at a table in an area as requested. There was an issue with choice of meats as some ovens were not working. The first carver was very pleasant but another one came to take over and she was not pleasant. Other staff were very helpful. .Return visit on 21st August. Good meat choice. Carver only spoke to ask which meats we wanted. Could have been friendlier.

So disappointed just come back from a family funeral and decide to call in for tea Last time we were there they had no gas so couldn’t serve soft drinks unless you paid £3.60 for a small bottle of coke this time there was no vegetarian alternative and to make it worse they were trying to get my niece to eat meat instead I’m absolutely appalled at the way she was treated.

Not keen on bullet garden peas, but otherwise it was ok. And it wasn't easy to get to the disabled toilets as too much furniture was in the way.

This place is exactly what you'd you would expect from a carvery it's busy and can seem a little chaotic around the food collection area but once you sit at your table it's like any other restaurant. Food was tasty, staff were great and it feels like a very welcoming family friendly place.

18-8-24 table booked for 2. Ordered 2 carvery’s. Also ordered gluten free when table booked. To start only 3roasts not 4. Man cutting an serving the meat simply cut 1 peice an then threw it onto ur plate. The other food. Peas an carrots both hard. Roast potatoes also very hard. Yorkshire pudding large but no taste a chewy. Mashed potato not soft full o lumps. Cabbage tasteless. Then to top it of the gluten free gravy was cold which made my wife’s meal cold an a lot left etc. Spoke to manager who was very good apologised for what was a poor experience gave us a very good refund as compensation an offered us deserts free. We declined paid our small bill a left thinking what’s gone wrong here cos we have had lots of meals here an enjoyed them all. Won’t go again till it’s better.

The staff and atmosphere are lovely but I usually find that the food tastes off, has no flavour and the gravy is usually runny when I go there. I couldn’t even finish my meal. Everyone is lovely and has great chat but the food just misses unfortunately for me.

I went with my father and partner last night ... Absolutely awful and I will not return ... We keep giving it another try but this is the last .. Carvery was basic. I was given 3 very small pieces of meat .. roast potatoes were tasteless .. stuffing was dry and hard . Red cabbage or carrots were burnt not sure which as so mushy all kind of mashed together .. just all had a burnt taste . We ordered two course meal .. but no ice cream available!! What restaurant has no ice ice cream when most of the deserts rely on ice cream .!! So we ordered latte's no milk 😮 . It just gets better .. I'm sure it wasn't fair on the waitress who was giving us this information.. But where the lattes are concerned I just don't think they wanted to dirty the machine .. My dad loves his lattee after his meal so he was most upset .. We will never return .. unless they get a better chef and a better supplier

I wrote a really indetail review to justify my opinion but my phone glitched and I lost it. long story short I wouldn't accept being served that standard of food anywhere else, I don't see why we accept it cause it's a carvery. Cook less and fresh or make it cheaper

The staff were brilliant but there was little choice of meat left on the carvery (just pork and gammon). If we had booked for the following slot we would have gone hungry.

Went to the Dronfield carvery around 6 months ago and it was dreadful. Food was cold and had to ask them to warm it up in the microwave. Thought i would give it another go with my daughter and grandson today. Food was tastless, luke warm and gravy was that thick I could stand my spoon up in it. Asked for a doggy bag as wanted to take it home and warm it up and add ingredients to make it taste better. I bill was £44 and you wanted £1.99 for a doggy bag. Definitely won’t be returning a right tip off. I really don’t know how this has gone down hill so fast. I forgot to mention the beef was just one big lump of fat. Thank you for your reply. Seems you are not bothered about the bad reviews 😡😡😡

Arrived around 5.50pm, no gammon, the pork was dried up, and the beef was full of fat. Thankfully, the turkey looked OK. The veg wasn't much better, missing items or dried up. The gravy was nice though. I've been here before, and it has always been ok, so I'm assuming it's just bad timing or something. The waitress knocked £2 off for the lack of edible meat.

Usually receive the highest customer service at the Walled Garden - never any complaint even at busiest of times - but not today. No queue at the counter which I thought great (most unusual as usually rammed). Three members of staff stood chatting behind counter & carried on, even though knew we were there. When we they eventually finished their conversation, one asked rather abruptly for our order - no pleasantries or anything. Got to end of counter to pay and collect - she got it wrong as I’d asked for takeaway and she made extremely sarcastic comment. Puts you off - nothing wrong with a smile and polite customer service in my opinion!l Unfortunately encountered her again when went to buy takeaway cakes a bit later - friendly service wasn’t in her vocabulary. Would recommend staff go on customer service training - especially the staff member with a slight foreign accent who was doing the serving today.

Fish & Chips with pea source, all not very exciting to end the business day on however the staff were very attentive, had a smile and nothing was too much trouble.
