Toby Carvery Dronfield in Rotherham

We've been tonight for my daughters 10th birthday, and we were served by Beverley. Unfortunately the food wasn't up to its normal standard, the roast potatoes were too hard to eat and the yorkshire puddings were very tough, but the meat was delicious and I guess that's the main part. The service was brilliant and friendly, nothing was too much trouble, thank you to Beverley for helping make my daughters birthday. All in all a lovely evening and we will be returning.

I attended the Carvery the other day and had an extra large carvery i was with a couple of my friends my server was alfie and our carver was dylan and liv, all were very polite and lovely, we will be back soon for sure!

My server Darcy was very polite and made me feel welcome. I was also greeted at the door by Paul who was lovely and very smiley. When I was getting my carvery DYLAN gave me a big portion of meat and it was delicious he’s very generous. I had an overall lovely experience and can’t wait to be back again to see these beautiful lot doing an amazing job!!!

I went to the Toby carvery the other day and the food was fantastic, my server was Darcy and she was very lovely and my carver was Dylan, he was also lovely and gave me good portions of meat, will be back soon!

Me and my friend went for a carvery, and it was lovely. Our hostess Beverley was so friendly and attentive. Had a good conversation with her while paying off. Our food was cut by Kyle from the kitchen, the meat was beautiful. And our plate ups were delicious! Would definitely recommend dronfield Toby carvery over any other.

Attended here today, not the best of service, we ordered a kids meal mac and cheese with veg sticks, and 2x carvery (with additional pigs in blankets).Was told that we would recieve carvery tickets when the child meal was bought to the table and was waiting an hour and a half for this! The kids meal arrived and hour and a half after ordering and was then told that we didnt need carvery tickets after being told prior we did.The mac and cheese was cold and veg sticks were dry upon being served from the lids menu, and no utensils were given to eat with despite asking multiple times, the carvery meat was dry, the mash was like concrete and didn't receive pigs in blankets until I had finished my sunday dinner, not to mention youths sat in the beer garden smoking weed in a family establishment and many of staff had walked past and not asked them to vacate despite the strong smell of marijuana. Overall not a brill experience, toilets too were not the cleanest, urine and toilet roll everywhere and the stench was overwhelming, won't be returning.

A very tasty Friday carvery on offer. The staff are always lovely and customer focused. Today I was served by Ruth, who is always friendly and welcoming.

Great food and great staff who were very helpful and friendly. Wheelchair friendly, plenty of spaces for wheelchairs users like myself to sit and eat in comfort. Disabled parking and disabled toilet with radar key access. Staff will let you use their key if needed. Can not fault our experience. Highly recommended.

Had a carvery fri afternoon not too busy it was great. Good choice of meats I had pork my husband had gammon both really nice cooked to perfection and Shaun the server very friendly guy and so polite as are all of the staff on the counter. All the veg was topped up nothing ever looks like it’s been there too long. There always a different display of veg on offer and finished off with the delicious gravy. Our waitress sapphire is such a lovely person. We’ve encountered her before always smiling and so genuinely friendly. She took time to explain the toby rewards to us which we appreciated. We like to visit at least once a week at different times and always feel welcomed. Thanks.

Beverley was a lovely waitress, spoke nice always checking in if we wanted anything. Dylan who was the carver always seems to be working when I come in always talks and smiles, gives you good portions.

We r regularly visit here for a carvery. No complain about the food.. Staff are friendly.. But the main big problem is that there are only 3 Disable parking bays. N the rest of the car park is about 50. We have been booked twice n there's nowhere to park, then we had to leave.. Please make at least 10 Disable parking bays..

Came for sunday carvery. Quick to be seated by paul who was very friendly and asked about allergies. Severed by bevelery who was lovely and friendly and quick. Food was very nice. Will come back

Terrible place with a horrible food

Our server was Sapphire who was lovely, pleasant & very helpful, our carver was Dylan who was also pleasant.

This was my first time getting a Toby Cavery and the food was fantastic. Omg I think I’ll be in a food coma for the next week. However, Beverly was unfriendly, she didn’t ask us at the end if we had any vouchers and when we mentioned we had vouchers she went off on us for not mentioning it when she asked us but she never mentioned it.

Food is ok but shan’t be back after getting ripped off by their parking policy £100 ticket for not registering car number. Not clear instructions anywhere so won’t bother with this scam.

First time comming for breakfast was absolutely lovely plenty of choice including a yorkshire pud and gravy was lovely to have on a breakfast. Will definitely come again and bring the kids.

Our server Lydia was exceptional, she was very friendly and went out of her way to serve us the best she could. Lovely friendly lady. The food was delicious as always.

Not so great for breakfast today unfortunately, last few occasions have been well below a good standard but today spoke with duty manager who suggested a refund. Chef had been by himself since seven.. food just didn’t look or taste appealing, disappointing shame really. Will still go back has local but will check first before hand

Amazing service from Paul, could have had a better day out. He was so friendly and made us feel very welcomed. Definitely come back again and the carvery was also amazing.

Always great here usually carvery but called the other week for the unlimited brekky and left having eaten more than I should but gosh it was great I have to say...if you haven't been then deffo try the brekky asap

Three of us in the party. Looked after by Ruby today, very efficient, friendly and pleasant. She worked extremely hard! Food delicious, plenty of choice. Lovely atmosphere.

Ran out of Beef, lamb was overcooked, no sauce and had to wait 5 minutes with my food going cold waiting for sauce, the stations were disgustingly dirty, you can clean as you go! As a carvery and the price for Sunday is now £14+ you need to up your game to compete with other pubs. It's very substandard for that price.

Multiple visits over the years (decades!). Friendly (and smiley) staff (Amy, Paul, ...). It's very noticeable how when general offers are available, the veg variety is reduced. Sometimes there are quite wide inconsistencies in meat portions and gravy texture. However mostly the offering is very good, hence the number of revisits.

The meat was tough as boots, YP was rubbery, and mash runny. The veg was nice and gravy, too. The 2 young people were too busy talking about their private lives than providing proper customer service. The table service was good but if the food is below par how do you expect to get repeat customers. Hospitality is a demanding service, and employees should embrace that. I did Sunday carvery for 15 years and front of house too serving 240 to 350 every Sunday, that's what good food and good service gets you, repeat customers. I've been to this venue before, and the food and carvery service was 10 times better. There needs to be improvement for me to go again.

Been several times & always had wonderful time with great food

It would be good customer service if the kitchen team let the other staff know when the breakfast food is due to run out so all new customers can be told as they come in rather than when they have been waiting for a long time in a queue

I think depending on when you eat there the food varies from average to a bit better. There is one guy there who gets customer service and tries to ensure you are comfortable, some of the other staff don't seem that warm or courteous, just my opinion but I judge my overall experience on the staff and their interaction when you dine there. I did get a response see below, I did call them and left a message, sadly no one returned my call.

The staff was very nice. Roast potatoes were a bit overcooked but not too much and the rest of it was fine too. Thankyou mr toby we will be back.

Not as good as it used to be, meal was ok. The veg had been stood a while and was lukewarm. May give it another chance but not sure

I visited on a weekday it was fairly busy I was pleased fresh yorkies came out when I got served untill I tried to cut it. It would have done me proud on the sole of my shoes I could hardly cut it without being scared of sending the rest of my food all over. Now to the meat a vegetarian wouldn't feel guilty eating that meal I just got one thin slice which fell apart because it was so thin . Veg was average at best certainly not worth the money

Food was delicious & fresh. Staff were great as usual. It was very busy though so we waited a bit longer than we’d have wanted to order pudding but it’s to be expected when peak time. We also had our 4 week baby with us & they found us a great table with access & space to place her plus it wasn’t too hot. Baby slept through & we were able to enjoy our meals while hot which is rare with a newborn. Very attentive hosting. Thank you

Enjoyed the visit. Good food, service good a little slow on drinks but overall friendly and efficient.

I was suprised & disappointed to receive a parking fine following a visit to Bowshaw Inn. Have been coming here for years with no parking enforcement. Staff didn’t mention the new rules and signs were far from obvious. A lengthy notice period would have allerted infrequent clients things were changing rather than overnight implimentation. When the situation ‘s been a certain way for years you don’t look for, or expect changes.

Great place. Plenty of space in the car park too. Lovely visit.

Not been for a while as the food isn't what it used to be. Because of the 50% off coupon we thought we'd give it a go. The carvery itself looks dried out and unappetising, the carving deck is littered with food debris and you have to wait whilst things are replenished or scrape the remnants of what is left. Surprisingly the carvery tasted good and had a generous portion. I like a carvery and after visiting other places my advice would be that in the quiter periods the veg is given a good stir to stop it drying out on top. The carvery deck is given a wipe down and things need replacing before empty to avoid a wait. The other disapointing thing is having to pay for a refil when ordering a crabonated soft drink. Not everyone wants numerous drinks and have to pay the price for it. Would I come and pay full price? Not till some changes are made to the appearance and quality improved. Yes it was well worth the money with the voucher but not when it's all dried up and you have to miss items due to be overly dry and needing replacing. You don't always want to wait when you have half a plate of food going cold

Very slow service, Yorkshire puddings took in excess of 30 minutes to be replenished, 50% off mains offer was on so naturally it was busier, sadly, the Kitchen was not geared up for this and food took an absolute age to come out on the deck. The one lad on the deck carving looked overwhelmed. Very poor standards, you’d think the team would be better prepared for a busier shift when offers are on

We had a lovely meal here last week, the meat was tender, succulent and very tasty. Tbh everything we had was delicious and so were the dessert. 🍨 We have already booked again for the Carvery.

Staff are unbelievably friendly and helpful every time we go. We go every week and the atmosphere is always pleasant. The fact we go every week is a great recommendation. A great variety of vegetables and meats. The carvery is a great option. No matter how busy they are, the food always comes out in good time, no extra waiting time. Exceptional service..! We book each week, greeted with a smile in a super relaxed atmosphere. My autistic son has the same meal every week and all the regular staff remember his meal. Al the staff are super, however, Darcy has served us once and mixed a few things on our menu.

Quick Visit on the Way through, great service, will definitely be back! Being Welsh I had to take advantage of the Lamb on the Deck, and it was on a Saturday and not Sunday!!

Absolutely awful carvery Sunday dinner, the meats was very full with fat, the vegetables was rock solid I could break a window with them, the staff not helpful at all, when it came to paying she said “I’m not very good at maths so I don’t know how much it comes up to” which we then had to tell her ourselves, the cutlery was very dirty had to clean it ourselves, the gravy was incredibly watery and had very little taste, will not be visiting again unfortunately. Very disappointed and for the price for two people £40 was not worth it one bit.

Zero stars would be better. Only carvery in the world with no meats available. This despite having booked

The customer service needs improving. The food quality was very poor it was inedible. They didn't keep the food station tidy and had previous food all over it. The drink station was wet and had a bad odour. It was just a really terrible experience. I would not visit here again and would not recommend to anyone.

Our server was lovely, The food was okay but the roast potatoes were rock hard couldn't eat properly so was the cauliflower and the brownie pudding was not good was over cooked and tough the soda drinks area was a right mess and the lady that greeted us on first entry was not seeming very happy, I had special requests she made a none needed remark when I queried table but I'm guessing she was overwhelmed....it was busy

Absolutely fantastic service and food only thing that let it down was near the drinks machine there had obviously been a leak of some sort and the smell was horrendous. That off putting that i went without a drink

Went for breakfast on Boxing Day as thought we would treat ourselves. It was "ok" but wouldn't dash back. On arrival, we were directed to the bar where our order was taken and asked us to find a seat and help ourselves to the breakfast buffet. We assumed most of it was oven cooked; the hash browns were almost tasteless, the bacon was so overcooked (like old boot leather), and the "fried" eggs were swimming in fat. Also seemed a bit basic to have an urn of hot water, sachets of nescafe, and a jug of milk to make your own, instead of a coffee machine. On the positive sides, the black pudding was nice and the sausages were tasty. Staff we interacted with were friendly. All in all... it was ok, but the food really let it down.

Shocking waited a hour for starters which arrived cold bread hard and stale. When mains finally came one Yorkshire still had frost on. Ran out of any Yorkshire raps . The pub was empty blamed card machine.Manager came said sorry offered free pudding but as none of us had mains declined left .Avoid should contact h and h someone will become very sick soon

The food was completely dry and vegetarian food rockhard. Waited awhile to try and get some peas but there wasn’t any rest of the vegetables was dried up looked like it been cooked from Yesterday and reheated. The vegetarian gravy was cold and lumpy, looking like someone had just had water to it to get it smooth again. Toby carvery at Dronfield was disgusting food.

Dirty tables and carpets, no customer interaction by staff, people came in and asked for a table and were just pointed to it rather than taken to the table. Pub wasn't busy but took 15 mins to get two drinks from the bar. The food looked like it was from yesterday, we arrived at 12 and the lamb was dry, the veg was overcooked and the gravy was like water no customer care what so ever avoid at all cost. On a plus there was plenty of parking spaces in the car park ,good luck and a happy new year...

Being Christmas eve you'd think there would be some Christmassy atmosphere, Christmas music, crackers or something, but there was nothing. Starters were ok when food wasn't being dropped on the floor by staff. Food on the carvery had clearly been out all day as it was dried up and burnt, it was a write off. Hardly anyone on our table ate it. When the menu states freshly streamed veg this was clearly not the case. Desserts were clearly microwaved one at a time being brought out in very long increments to the point we had to start eating so it didn't go cold and we had finished before the last person had received theirs. Staff seemed rude when my niece spoke to staff she was ignored and then the deposit we had paid was forgot to be taken off the final bill. To say we had preorder all our meals it took 3hours to be severed, satting down for 45min before starters came out, which didn't help we when we had young children. I can honestly say none of us will be returning again. I would advise everyone to avoid .

Always a cheerful greeting by the staff. Comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. Today we had Justine and Ruth as our waitress, two waitresses?. Yes, as Ruth had finished her shift halfway through our meal. Both were friendly, helpful, experienced and competent at their job. The food was lovely excellent value for money.

I must say I'm appalled with the level of feed back from the management from our 21st meal with 9 guests very poor food and service all 9 guests complained and they offered a £25 voucher discussed

So we got there for are pre booked Time but still had to wait to be seated as there was a que to get in but fair enough it can be busy around this time of year, we ordered drinks 4 refills and two alcoholic beverages and they took over half an hour to cone to the table it would of been much quicker if had just gone to the bar and ordered them, and Jesus's I expected to be busy but not that busy where I'd be waiting in the queue for over an hour and fair enough it's gonna busy but what really annoyed me was that they only put one person serving and they kept disappearing to the back to do what ever which prolonged it and then when came to the food the only nice part was the meat and roast potatos the Yorkshire puddings looked hard and like pancakes the mac and cheese as dry as a gandi flip flop the mash was lumpy and the gravy was really watery and the stuffing was hard as rock could break teeth with how solid it was we got there for 5.30 didn't leave until after 8 o'clock and multiple people In the line was also complaining with how long they had been waiting aswell and I never really give bad reviews

Came for a late dinner with our children and Ruth looked after us. Wish I could give more than 5star review for the way we been looked after.
