Really lovely place, staff incredibly helpful, food is really good and presented well. Wheelchair accessible with enabled parking places. Advise you to book. Large party's book in advance not to be disappointed.

Always a lovely welcome at The Earl of Strafford. Food is top-notch, service can be a little slow at times.

Went at lunchtime as a party of 4 and booked for 12.30. Both the lasagne and sticky toffee sponge were sold out at 12.30! We had 2 meals off the lunchtime menu and they were ok. My son had burger and sweet potato fries and there were such a small portion of fries in the dish it was a joke and it cost an extra £1.50. The worse meal by far was the hake and scallop tagliatelle that my daughter had. It came in a dish swimming in sauce with hardly any tagliatelle in the bottom. The hake was a 2 inch piece of fish plonked on top with ONE scallop placed on top. It was the size of a child's meal and cost almost £15. Seriously don't bother going here, there are much better pubs serving much better food for the money. Get the food right and people will come, it's not rocket science! That's probably why it's going to be changing hands on 17th April.

One of the best pub Sunday dinners I’ve had. Staff were all lovely too.

I've been here a few times with my partner as he went with his family not too long ago and had a great experience, however our experience didn't match. Both times we felt as if we were forgotten, we had our food order taken and received the food after an expected wait, however no one checked to see if we wanted any sauces or to check how our meal was, even though the table opposite us -which was a bigger table- was asked this, no one came to clear our table or ask if we wanted to order dessert and no one was around for us to ask for the bill meaning we had to go to the bar to pay. All in all it's a shame as we really enjoy the food however the service lets down our experience.

Had my 1st visit here earlier with my parents and daughter, the food service was super fast and at a lovely temperature, also tasted as good as it looked! My daughter started getting a little tired however Nicole (staff) offered to help and push her around while I ate my food Can honestly say my 1st experience here was amazing and will definitely be returning next time with my dog! Spent mothering Sunday here £25 per head for 3 courses. Food was tasty and reasonably priced.

Well my review was from 6 years ago, so I didn't really expect a reply from yourselves at this time!

Been a few times in the last few months. First time we had a Sunday dinner, which was really nice. Service was poor though. We had to keep getting up to go ask someone for everything. 2nd visit, it was dead. There were only about 3 groups in, which is absolutely fine for us so no complaint there. However, our starters were all cold. In fact, one part was still frozen. So, they had to be returned. We then skipped that and went straight to the mains, which seemed quite over cooked. So, we had one extreme to the other. I imagine the "chef" was just a trainee or something. The waitress was extremely apologetic and very helpful and understanding. Just been again today for a Sunday dinner. Service was extremely poor again. We had to keep getting up to find someone to ask to order or ask for something. Very poor, which is a real shame because the food is extremely. If you are in a rush, then don't go here.

Been here on a few occasions, always able to walk in a get a table without booking. This time brought the dog along as it's got a side area dog friendly Try the Earl Burger plenty for anyone including the dog.

Terrible! Booked for my Birthday on-line. Greeted by an unfriendly assistant who said I had booked a table for 3 not 5. My husband pointed out that she was looking at the wrong booking and had booked someone else in our booking. With some huffing and puffing we were seated. There were 2 funerals booked in at the same time time, not what you want on your birthday. Had I known this I would not have booked. Starter calamari and prawns with deep fried and very dry and overcooked as was the hunters chicken. No home cooked food all frozen and ping food. Such a shame as previously one of my favourite places. First visit under the new management. Will not be returning.

The venue is very chilled and cosy. Great for a family meal! The food itself was cooked to perfection and was delicious. The staff were really attentive, friendly and polite! I'm looking forward to my next visit!

Dropped in for a meal. Standard pub food, nothing fancy but enjoyed it. Service was quick as the pub was quiet. Lovely space inside and served Bradfield Brewery on tap which was a bonus. Will definitely call in again.

Popped in after work for a meal with the missus. Ribeye was pretty good, decent sized portions, and the Bradfield Farmers was well looked after. Will likely go again.

We had a Wake held here today for my Late Nan. I cannot recommend this place enough! The staff were all very pleasant and professional and the food was absolutely delicious, even the vegetarian options were absolutely lovely. The restaurant/pub has lovely vibe to it modern but traditional.

First time in here despite living in the area all my life. Lovely interior, more modern than you would expect. Only had drinks but the food look lovely that others were having. A little pricey but you expect that in larger places that have such lovely interiors, really recommend.

Our initial visit to this place was this Sunday, and it definitely won’t be our last. The Sunday lunch was outstanding. The staff were remarkably friendly, and the place had a charming atmosphere.

Went here on Boxing day for a family meal Gave this place a wide berth for a while. However, now it has new owners decided to give it a whirl. Service was a little slow, food and drinks were good. The kids meals are probably the best I've seen in a pub. Nice to see the phoenix rise from the flames. Shame it's lost its children's play area at the back. If this had still been here it would have got 5 stars from me.

I have been to this location a number of times and generally the food has been of reasonable quality. Standard pub chain type food, nothing special. The service has always fallen a bit below par on my visits. Having worked in the hospitality industries for many years, I feel a bit more could be done to improve the customer experience during their visit. The place itself is nicely decorated. Parking is plentiful and it has the bonus of being dog friendly which is great. Lots of potential but not being made the most of unfortunately.

Called in by chance after seeing they were dog friendly after a walk around near by Thrybergh park. Great food with value for money on 2 or 3 course options. Our dog Eric had a lovely little blanket put out with his own bowl of water & a few treats. We will definitely be coming back.

Had lunch on Christmas Day. Bruchetta was actually a small square of soggy sliced bread with topping, not nice. The steak was beautiful, 2 other guests had turkey, but not a lot of it on the plate. We were sat in the bar area due to a mix up with our booking time and although we knew this before arrival, we did not like it. The atmosphere was not the same as in the 2 main dining areas and there were people just in for a drink, some who were quite loud. It felt as if we had been forgotten about, we had to go to the bar for our own drinks, which I don't feel we should have had to, whilst we were eating. We were sat waiting for sometime for our bill, again due to a mix up with our booking. Having had a booking accepted, then cancelled last year, I would have thought that our visit this time would be much more organised, especially as they were aware of all mix ups there had been.

I've been here before and not had an issue. Today however, totally different story! Disappointing is the most complimentary thing I can say. A few weeks ago my friend and I ordered a fish gujon sandwich at a different establishment - we got 3 to 4 fat, crispy gujons on thick fresh farmhouse bread with fresh salad. Today at the EoS we saw the same thing on the menu, fancied it and ordered it. What we were served was a single fish gujon, smushed in the middle of a withered salad sandwich. It was like they only had 2 gujons left and shared them between me and my friend. The side salad greenery was drying out and clearly not fresh either. Macdonald's serve better quality food than what we got today, and I dislike Macdonald's. Hell, I've had better fish finger sandwiches in budget cafés. As I say, disappointing.

Absolutely beautiful and magical place to have your Christmas Dinner with my family. The staff can't do enough for you,very polite and friendly. We love it there 😋🤤😍🥰.

We were looking for somewhere for 9 people on Christmas Eve at relatively short notice and The Earl of Strafford had space. I am so glad they did because we had a lovely time. The food and service were 1st class and we will be back.

Went with a group for brunch. I ordered fish goujons but unfortunately the waitress came back to tell me they hadn't any so had to make another choice, so I chose a small breakfast, which was nice but lacked a slice of toast. The waitress was really lovely and helpful throughout.

We booked at very short notice for the same day a party of 10 and were not disappointed the food was excellent with extra provided when requested. All the staff were very friendly and excellent service would not hesitate to return

A really nice pub. A bit "big" to have proper pub atmosphere but nice food, a wide range of drinks and excellent staff.

Christmas meal tonight not great at all. Poor quality cold food and extremely slow service as it took the best part of 3 hours to be served 3 courses. Worst meal I’ve had in a long time. Avoid. Christmas tree lovely though.

I love this place. It may have flaws but I can never find them. Their Stilton and peppercorn sauce with stakes is to die for. And I will kill again for it.

Turkey special. What a joke. Vegetables? Well you get 1 parsnip. No brocolli (as stated) no carrots no peas no sprouts. Just a parsnip. A small dollop of mash and a yorkshire pudding and 2 small slices of turkey. No stuffing either We were just going to pop for a cheap and cheery wetherspoons dinner and that's what we should have done because they actually provide a substantial meal. Wow just wow. Never again.

Went for Christmas party great atmosphere Christmas market being held at same time lovely and clean great staff and food service was good table set with Christmas crackers and hats perfect for family get together.

We have been here 3 times 1st time 18 months or so ago it was fantastic, 2nd time was ok but not great, we ate here the 3rd time last week the waiting staff were fantastic the restaurant is clean and welcoming but I'm afraid the food was tearable we sent one plate of food back completely and the festive burger is not particularly festive and tasted bland , I hope this was just a bad night in the kitchen, shame as we have had good food here before

As soon as we got out the car we just knew it was going to be a bad experience. Walked in and not a single staff member in site so we just took it upon ourselves to sit ourselves down seen as tho the staff couldnt. When we did eventually see a member of staff we was told to order at the bar which was all good. It was as if all the staff were newbies because everything was that slow. All I wanted was a drink but turns out that was a 15 minute wait. Proper quick service that. If your wanting NICE FOOD don’t come here. Vegetables were rock hard and freezing. I would rather wait 45 minutes and the food come out at the right temperature than waiting 20 minutes and it coming out cold. Definitely not a pleasant visit. Won’t be back. And most certainly not a place I’d recommend. We could’ve just gone on a bad day but by the looks of it, it’s the normality. Oh and tell your staff to smile please, maybe then you might get more customers. I’m giving 2 stars purely because the restaurant was reasonably clean.

Visited in October for our uncles 80th birthday - hubby ordered the lamb shank and was presented with cold mash, cold vegetables a frozen roast potato and a thimble full of cold gravy - we put this down to it been extremely busy and didn’t complain ….. right …. Visited again today (19.11.23) for my brother-in-laws 60th birthday, again a large party. My hubby ordered the turkey and ham hock pie and was presented with what looked like a microwave pukka pie which in fairness was very hot accompanied with cold (powdered) mash potatoes, cold sprouts, cold broccoli, roast parsnip (never been roasted) a slice of stuffing (more like an ice hockey puck) and a thimble of cold gravy. My husband spoke to the waitress who was very polite and understanding who sent it back and asked him if he wanted something else which he declined. The Manager then came out to ask how our meals were, the response from him was “outstanding” we said we had sent ours back as it was inedible - his response was oh ok and he walked off - what a manager hey who obviously cares about his customers and the quality of food they serve. Can we just add the waitresses were very friendly and understanding and polite. Now then - one last comment from me - Nicole your name was …. If you spoke to me the way you spoke to your staff - well I’m surprised they still work with you - I’d tell you exactly where you can shove your job you were very rude and arrogant to them and I felt embarrassed - perhaps you would benefit from some customer care training. I know if I spoke to people the way you did in my job I’d be out of one

Had an absolutely fantastic early christmas lunch with the family here - lovely service team, great food, fantastic value. I wish i reemembered the name of the lady (brown hair at the bar) who also helped us get points for some free beers. She was great. I would highly recommend and will be back.

Quick, short notice decision, dog friendly clinched it. Good food and value for money. Staff very friendly and welcoming, they couldn’t do enough for us. Warm, spotless and relaxing atmosphere, I’d recommend a visit. Massive car park at the rear, given the proximity to the A1 and the rural feel it would make a great pub stop over for Motor Homes. I would recommend giving it a try.

Booked a table for tea Saturday teatime service poor food poor had the gammon field mushroom must have been picked straight from the field cold.... adult pies looked like child's portions nice setting shame .....did not order sweets won't be returning note it was not busy I wonder why paid the bill and left expensive for poor quality food.

The best food i've had for a long time. Really delicious, tasty and hot. I had the steak with chips with peppercorn sauce. my wife had the lamb shank, both equally as good as each other. we also had desserts and coffees- top notch. Great friendly staff that are extremely helpful and know the menu inside out. We will be back soon.

Popped in on the off chance of a table today. Bagged the last one and so glad we did! Gorgeous Yorkshires! Lashing of gravy, crispy roast potatoes. My boys had the trio of meat and licked the plate clean. I had the veggie option of a mushroom wellington. That was also lovely, nice pastry, with plenty of flavoursome filling. Spot On! The boys had their eye on desert but after the additional complimentary Yorkshire’s we had to go home and rub our belly’s. Will be back, they are just trimming up for Christmas and it looks beautiful.

I personally cannot understand the negative reviews at all. We had such a total different experience to the negativity seen on this site. Myself and my daughter (along with her newborn baby and our small dog) visited on a Friday lunchtime, staff were exceptionally accommodating to us with the dog and pram on arrival. Lisa, one of the staff said we could sit anywhere but showed us to the conservatory area which we were more than happy with. We opted for a table in the corner so we didn’t disturb other guests eating. The food, drinks and service was excellent. They made a fuss of the dog asking if he needed water and gave him treats etc. Even at the end of the meal when the dog (accidentally) stood into his water bowl they’d given us, they reassured us it was no problem and that we weren’t to worry they’d clear it away without fuss. Honestly one of the cleanest, friendliest pubs I have been to in a long while. Especially a dog friendly one. We had the sharing plater, and ordered additional chips and onion rings, food was hot and really tasty. Would highly recommend. And we will definitely visit again. Big thank you to all the staff for your hospitality.

Booked the Earl of Strafford to celebrate my partners 30th birthday as it’s a pub that we used to go to often on a Sunday with our children and enjoyed however, after this visit we will no longer return. I booked for a large group of 20+ people and as a genuine mistake on my part I forgot to book for 2 of the 4 children (one of these children being a 2 month old that did not require a seat and the other being 1 and only required a high chair). I’m guessing the women that spoke to me was the manager, was the most rude person I think I’ve ever spoken to. She came over not a hello just began to basically what felt like tell me off because I hadn’t booked enough seats and she didn’t know if she accommodate for the other 2 children as I hadn’t booked for them. I said I’m sorry a genuine mistake and began to say we just need a highchair not 2 chairs. With an attitude saying I don’t know what you are going to do, you will have to go round and see if there’s any free chairs/tables. I found an empty table round the corner of the pub and moved it myself as she said I couldn’t put a highchair on the corner of one of the tables. I felt like it created something that was completely unavoidable. The whole party commented on her manner as it was so rude! Then the food - Cold, bland! The worst food I’ve ever had here. Gravy, hardly any on the roast dinners - asked for more and everyone had nearly finished what they could eat (as it was cold) by the time it came out. It says unlimited Yorkshire puddings, 3 members of the party asked for extra and never received them but tbh they just tasted like frozen shop bought no flavour to them or the Sunday roasts at all. My Partner had a burger as you can ‘never go wrong’ and he said it’s down there with the worst he’s ever had. Not sure what is going off with the bar staff as well but it was very slow think maybe on a weekend it needs more staff to keep up with demands. Would not recommend, used to be such a warm welcoming pub but has definitely lost its charm and regret my choice in booking it for such a big celebration.

Visited this location for some 'pub grub' after being recommended by some friends. Sadly, we will certainly not be returning. Seated promptly for our booking of 9 and a drinks order was taken. After this, we seemed to be have forgotten about as no staff returned to our table for around 30 minutes. We had to get someone over to take our food order, and then prompt again for the actual delivery of our drinks some 30 to 40 minutes later. One drink was completely forgotten about. Our starters arrived after a painstaking further 40 minutes, and the attached photograph of bread with garlic butter spread on it is a pathetic excuse for 'garlic bread'. Two starters were forgotten about and when prompted, one of them was served as the individual we spoke to crossed paths with another waitress who was actually bringing one of the plates. Upon the return of the initial waitress, she rudely confronted saying "when I asked what's missing, you said xyz" where we explained it arrived after she had left. There was, however, still one starter missing at this point. Plates were taken where we then waited a further 30 to 40 minutes for our mains. In total, we waited 1 hour and 50 minutes from being seated to being served our mains which is absolutely atrocious. My meal in particular was Fish & Chips. Naturally, you can't beat proper seaside fish and chips, but it was however cooked well. My friends complained of their Sunday roasts being cold, chicken dry and a lack of gravy supplied. Evidently just stored under a heat lamp to cope with the demands of a Sunday roast. Waitresses appeared busy and overworked however I believe this is down to the poor management of the pub. A staff member felt that it was appropriate to confront a waitress in the public area over an issue with an order. We felt that this was inappropriate and not a way to treat colleagues in a public place. After informing a staff member of our overal experience, an amount was taken off of our bill which was appreciated, however this will not remedy our experience to the extent that we will not be returning in the future.

This place came on a positive recommendation however it was a poor experience from start to finish. Not a single order from drinks to starters to mains were correct. Drinks orders took 30 minutes and it took just under 2 hours for our cold dry roasts to turn up. Management not managing, staff gossiping and look completely unmotivated. Will not come back

Couldn’t fault anything today. Nicole was superb and is heading a great team here. Great atmosphere due to top, polite and efficient service. Would recommend very highly !

Sunday afternoon at 4:30 is not the time to go. Too busy, looked like a bomb site, every table was cluttered with dirty plates, glasses and waste. The queue at the bar, only one open, was crazy. This has resorted to the 'fast food' approach...

Drag night! What an amazing night it was! Food was spot on, the ladies I was with enjoyed their food. And my husband and his friends enjoyed their food too, as they didn't get involved with the entertainment as they were watching the rugby on...

Poor. Disappointed. Starts; muscles came cold, with no butter for the bread and covered in zero sauce. I sent them back. Starts; chicken skewers. Clearly just microwaved with no flavour and not 100% sure they were cooked. The coleslaw was nice. Starts; bbq chicken wings....

My wife and I called in for a quick lunch. The service and food was excellent. It was also exceptional value for money. We have been many times before with friends and it is always an enjoyable experience.

A lovely venue and the staff were very friendly, unfortunately the food let the experience down, as a guest at a birthday celebration the main sunday lunches were barely warm and vegetables overcooked, mashed potatoes described as creamy buttery but in fact more like powdered potatoes, the mussels main was less than described with chunky chips instead of fries and sliced bread instead of crusty and luke warm, side orders were not served but included in the bill , the drinks order took 20 minutes to arrive and tables were not cleared so we decided against ordering deserts , as stated above the staff were lovely just the food disappointing

Not visited for 3 years so wasn’t sure what to expect but pleasantly surprised. Food was great good service and good value.

Had a Sunday visit for my birthday. Lunch was basic, bland, warm not hot, roast potatoes were dry and as if they'd been reheated. We ordered 3 luxury biscuit sundaes, waitress said they didn't have any sundae glasses left would we be okay to have it in a bowl. We said this would be fine. What was supposed to be a luxury sundae was one scoop of ice cream, 3 raspberries, tiny amount of crumbs, with a blob of squirty cream and sauce for £6 each! It was pitifully small. I didn't complain, as it was my birthday. I was the invited guest of my friends and didn't want to appear ungrateful.

Visited for Dad’s Birthday, decorated table for me which was really grateful for, we all had the chicken pie and was really disappointed with it. Not much Chicken and the chorizo was tough, veg hard and whilst it looked good on the menu did not fulfill the brief for us all.

Booked here for Christmas dinner for my family. Had it confirmed on the phone, only to find out a few days later that the person on the phone made a mistake and they were fully booked and so we can't go! We only found out after I messaged to see why they hadn't sent through my confirmation email after the person on the phone said it would be with us the next day. Good job we checked rather than just taking their word for it and turning up at Christmas! I am disgusted, what terrible customer service. We go there quite often too, will never be back. Thanks for letting my family down, the way you treat your customers is disgusting.

The staff went above and beyond to meet our needs. We had 2 young children who were accommodated nicely. The food was plentiful and very reasonably priced. Will defo go back!

Lovely pub, nice and clean. Very welcoming. Outside area to sit front and back. Dog friendly. Staff were very friendly and service was excellent. Unfortunately I cannot give 5 stars for the food. I had trio roast. The vegetables were over cooked. I had trio dessert. chocolate brownie, cheesecake and Eton mess. The eton was was basically a big blob of cream with a few tiny pieces of meringue, no strawberries. The cheesecake didn’t taste anything like cheesecake, more like a mango tart. The food let this pub down

We enjoyed our visit and the staff were really friendly and helpful. I like the relaxed atmosphere. We went for a meal and the food was excellent. The weekday evening set menu is also very good value. We will certainly be returning soon.

Went for Sunday lunch. Beef was like boot leather. Turkey and Pork equally as dry. Packet mash, frozen roast potato’s, mangetout peas with a roast?! Soggy broccoli, dirty unpeeled carrots, undercooked pigs in blankets, frazzled stuffing, watery cauliflower cheese. Not once did anyone come to ask if everything was ok, not even when we went to pay the bill. Hence to say we will never return or recommend at all, worst food we’ve had for a long time.
