Abbey Fisheries in Barnsley

Without doubt the worse fish shop ordered with, fish wasn't amazing, chips overdone, even the salad on the burger looked burnt, gravy extremely lumpy and thick and the curry sauce had an extremely weird taste....wouldn't be ordering again!

Great food delivered in good time as always.

Arrived freshly cooked piping hot, and not greasy. Was a little earlier than estimated, but not an issue. Beautiful tasting, and generous portion, would definitely order again

Always order our Fish & Chips from here, the fish are large and well cooked, the chips are delicious & you get so many.

I usually don’t have any problems, the latest order wasn’t good, the chips were undercooked and the fish didn’t look and tasted strange. Which is a shame cos this is my favourite chippy.

The fish and peas were nice but I wasn’t a fan of the chips, I ate a few but threw most of them away, there were loads too. Food delivered very quickly, quicker than the estimated time. It was ok but nowt to write home about

Well it was an experience. The bloke running the place gave an aura of discomfort with a huge lack of understanding of the English language. I felt sorry for him that the proprietor had left someone in charge that was unable to understand an order. Two customers ended up walking out because they became too frustrated after they had to write down the order and then have guy just staring at them but into the void. I waited as I was simply filling time anyway. Wish I hadn't, the fish was awful, just meh slimy and gross. Not had fish this bad in a long time. Won't be going there again. Also whilst I was there an angry customer came in complaining that he hadn't answered the phone to take orders. The phone was going alot and he just stared at it. From what I gathered, because of his limitations of the language, he ignores the orders.

Visited June 22 had a small wait as fish is cooked to order which these days is normal. Fish was excellent & a large portion of chips. Staff were very friendly. I would recommend a visit. Will go back next time I'm in the area.

food was cold and wasn't expecting the sauce all over the kebab and not in a tub so had to throw it in bin so me and my friend I was sharing with had to spend more money going somewhere else

the peas were horrible not proper mushy peas they were hard and illuminous green I do mushy peas all the time they are easy to prepare and not expensive will not order again though other food was good it's the little things

placed an order today for Abbey Fisheries in Selby, and it went straight through to Abbey Fisheries in Barnsley paid £19.80,so I'm out of pocket and no fish and chips for tea. This shouldn't happen, what can just Eat do for us please.

was on a Saturday night so they may have been really busy. chips were under cooked, which happens. however the peas were the shade of cheap astro turf (contrast set to x6) and tasted awful not sure their ratios were right on the mix

food delicious but delivery driver not so good. said he couldn't find address and asked me to come and look for him. shame

I’m reviewing my most recent order on my last order as it won’t let me I ordered large mixed kebabs think it’s 8.50 the portions was bad for the money was about 6 7 strands of kebab and few mouth fulls of tiny bits of chicken

Unfortunately, this time was disappointed as one of the burgers the bun was stale and hard as a rock. The other one was perfect! Normally we never have any issues and the food is fantastic but this time was not one of those days.

5 * as always, burgers cooked to perfection

Great fish and chips delivered quickly

This is the second time I’ve ordered. Lovely food and great service. BBQ chicken wrap was delicious. Prices are excellent for such good quality food. Will be recommending to my friends and family and definitely will be ordering again.

Lovely clean chippy, run by lovely people. chicken burger was delicious and very good quality. Lots of salad and sauces with chips. We also had cheesy fries, a spam fritter on a teacake and a savaloy. Beautifully cooked, delicious food at a very reasonable price. I love that I can order a savaloy from a Barnsley chip shop. They’re very hard to find outside of London. I’ll definitely be ordering again from abbey fisheries. Well done guys, you made my daughter who’s a picky eater, very happy.

Food was cold poor quality as kebab was dry and other thi gs in batter tasted like old oil and the chips were bland and not cooked properly best thing about the food was the bottle of pop. Very disappointed would get a refund if I could

The chips had a disgusting taste , the peas were tasteless and the weirdest colour the fish was white but very greasy , it all went in the bin total waste of money. It all was cold so first time and last time .

By far the best chip shop I've ever eaten totally recommend them and my son who doesn't eat chocolate loves the battered mars bar

Delivery is either on time or early, never been late. Order has always been correct and if an item is unavailable they always phone to tell you and replace with whatever you want. My favourite chippy ever, staff a amazing and I definitely recommend to everyone.

The garlic naan was disgusting it had brown powder on it and tasted awful so threw it away, the kebab was cold although it tasted OK. Won't order from there again.

The food came on time but when we got the food the mixed kebab meat was over cooked to the point of being nearly flavourless and the chips were soggy as though they were under cooked.

Food hot. Large chips portion was huge. Chips were bit greasy though. Hard to serve up as the wrapping paper had turned to mush due to lots of grease and condensation in transit.

Called for quick tea after hospital visit, had to wait a short while maybe 10mins for order but food was hot and well cooked, very tasty. Reasonably priced.

Batter on fish was burnt, big black marks all over it. Chips were terrible and sausage was rubbish too. I got a refund from just eat when I showed them pictures. Avoid!

Couldn’t eat food found what looked like a piece of stone in food looked like the bit that gets heated at the back of kebab machine or a bit of slate! Vile! Will never order again
