The pub is clean and the drinks were nice but expensive the food is lovely ive been in a few times and its always good just stop the surcharge I always ask for it taken off it should be a customers choice whether to tip or not we are in Barnsley not New York

Amazing! Every food item and cocktail was delicious, with very good service!

Tried quite a few places now for the bottomless brunch and I have to say the Botonist is one of the best I have been to, the actual place itself is stunning while the service was amazing. What cocktails available on the menu were excellent. If I had to be picky I would say only improvement would be to add further selections of the cocktails. I would definitely recommend this to all BB fans Amazing time 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

First time visiting and I loved the atmosphere and the decor. The service was 5* could do enough just hope the service charge does go to the workers they deserve it. The food was nice, tasty but portion size are quite small especially for price. One sewer and some chips with no side salad! Loved the happy hour but was missing the passion fruit decor. Really enjoy our visit overall and would come again.

Dearest place for drinks 14 pounds for a timmy Taylor and a rekorderlig.

Starters were nice, although the main, because it was warm we ordered the Caesar salad. More like a bowl of lettuce with large dried pieces of chicken and a bread cake cut up into large pieces to pass over as croutons. Not worth the money. Worst Caesar salad I’ve had, i would recommend taking this off your menu as it is not a Caesar salad, in addition I would recommend looking into how the food is prepared also as I felt unwell shortly after.

Amazing cocktails, amazing staff, amazing environment

Went on 30th July for some snacks and drinks and it was fantastic. Both bar staff were incredible. We asked for a decaf espresso martini as we didn’t want caffeine and ended up having the best espresso martinis we’ve ever had. Unbelievably good. Highly recommend and hope the bar staff get noticed and rewarded !

Lovely food but left a bit hungry. Pint of shandy was a ridiculous £6.50 though.

I have enjoyed The Botanist the last few times I've eaten there but this time the food was poor. No atmosphere and very empty. Don't think I will be returning.

We came to celebrate my son's 30th birthday, The atmosphere was great, our waitress was very helpful , polite and friendly. The food we had was beautiful the only thing is with the sharing hanging kebab you have to have the choice on the menu and can't swap an option, We would rather have had the Halloumi than the shrimp. All in all a great meal out.

Disappointed by the reduced menu, in particular sweet chilli fries no longer available. Overpriced and disappointing banoffee Sunday. Would appear service charge has now been added onto the bill, generally speaking happy to tip, but not for it to be obligatory. Blue light discount only available Monday to Thursday, clearly a case of virtue signalling rather than a genuine discount to appreciate the emergency services. The discount would seem to be an inconvenience at peak times when it would affect profits.

Always takes 20mins to be served for a beer, too little stag too many gin/cocktails just been there 13.40 today and left after 5mins waiting at bar

Went too the street food market just outside very good . Bought one pine IPA beer and half of large £12.50 expensive .But a lovely place..

My partner brought me here for my birthday meal and you did not disappoint. The hanging kebabs are delicious and the cocktails well made. The special birthday cocktail and card was a lovely touch and the young lady who served us is a credit to her job. Sorry, forgot your name!

Over priced but nice to have in our town

Will not be returning, food was good but expensive for what it was, we just happened to go on a very busy day but the servers still managed to keep everything moving dispite this. At the end when we were about to pay and get the bill we were getting cash out to leave a tip, to notice a 10% one had already been added to the bill without permission. There were 2 of us that literally had fish and chips, we are not American, my actual tip that would have been slightly more than the 10% went back in my purse, we paid and left but will not be returning for this reason.

A great addition to Barnsley town centre. My third visit and the food was all delicious and great value for money. The staff are brilliant too

Had a table booked for pre-dinner drinks followed by a dinner reservation. Service on arrival was excellent. Sadly, did not stay in the establishment for dinner and left just after an hour. The clientele certainly let this venue down. Rowdy, drunk, and vomiting all over the bar floor, not even caring to clean it up for themselves. The poor door staff took the brunt of it. Worse still, the culprit returned, and proceeded to be hand-fed a giant burger. The botanist in Manchester is a beautiful place where diners can eat in a relaxed setting. Regretfully this is not mirrorred at the Barnsley branch. Feel sorry for the staff having to work in such a horrible environment. I shall choose to avoid from now on.

Food and service was excellent apart from being served warm wet wine glasses that we had to ask for them to be changed which was done but shouldn't have been served like that in 1st place. The atmosphere was excellent but we thought the music was a little loud and we had to shout to each other to be heard, if it could be turned down a little so people can enjoy each others company without having to shout which makes the noise even louder.

Relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy a lunch date. Service was excellent, attentive and timely. Great to have some vegan options on the menu, both choices were delicious. Only minor gripe is cost as it was quite pricey for what was essentially a burger and chips.

First time visiting, me and my daugher ad food and dessert. It was lovely, the staff was lovely and so was the cocktails. We tried a few places after for cocktails and ended up coming back as the rest didn't match.

Just back from having a Mother’s Day meal there… absolutely outstanding, food was out of this world, had starters which were gorgeous then we all had a roast each and it was stunning, my lamb just fell apart then dessert’s honestly delish …. Also had a free cocktail, the whole experience was made even better as our server Megan Bray was so delightful, and very professional, she really looked after us So well.

I booked a table for a friends birthday. It was a Saturday night when a football match had been played in our local town and the place was really busy. However, the staff were super friendly and helpful, the meal was hot, fresh and absolutely divine. We were not rushed, squashed in or made to feel that we hadn't time to just sit and chat. This is definitely somewhere I would return to.

Went for a Sunday dinner, sadly no-one to greet you, so we found a table. When our meal arrived it looked very nice, well presented, but it was all downhill from there. The two slices beef were so thinly cut you could almost see through it, and my husbands was so full of gristle he couldn't eat it. This meal was £20 each! We did get his meal for free, but sadly not the point. (a yorkshire pudding, 2 slices of thin beef, then to share served on a board was about 4 (new potatoes sized) roasted potatoes, and a small portion of veg) not enough for two sharing.. In this day and age where eating out is expensive so seen as a treat - this is one experience at this restaurant we won't be returning to. It maybe lovely decorated but the food is disappointing. Although the waitress was polite, young and not very attentive no desert menu was offered either.. We left hungry... Never to return, and we won't be recommending it to our friends either.

Nice place with great food, a bit noisy inside (we were there on a Saturday, so there were a lot of customers). It is worth booking a table in advance via the website. My girlfriend and I enjoyed dinner at this place. I recommend ;)

4th time at the Botanist every vist just as good as the last. Took some friends and they absolutely loved food excellent great service, every cooked to perfection can't wait for our next visit

Gorgeous restaurant and really lovely food - a little expensive but totally worth it. The sharing cookie dough has this beautiful presentation where the little biscoff crumbs are served in a tiny plant pot so they look like very biscuity soil. One of the menu items is called 'properly seasoned fries'. And they're not kidding, they're definitely properly seasoned.

Had a 60th birthday meal for 14 people food was great and staff were excellent they went above and beyond to ensure we had a great night can’t praise them enough

We arrived on time well 15 minutes early and was greeted at the door . Our table wasn’t ready and was asked to wait at the bar we waited over a hour no one came to see to us and we left , never in all my years have I experienced this from what should be a well run restaurant dissatisfied is not the word !

We came in as a group of 13 people for a work party and credit to the staff for the amazing service and to the chefs for the lovely food that was presented. Also shout out to the bar staff who made some fantastic cocktails. Would highly recommend everyone to visit you will not be disappointed 5 stars Thankyou

Love everything about this place. Visited The Botanist several times and dined in twice. I like the hanging kebabs and the selection of cocktails. Not the cheapest of bars, but quality and has good live music. I recommend booking a table if dining in.

Great comms beforehand as 33 people for the meal. Everything was seamless I couldn't fault anything. Staff very accommodating and friendly. Food amazing and service absolutely perfect !!! I would definitely recommend. Special mention to Sam who was beyond helpful and patient with the various changes to people attending and menu.

Food was lovely & most of staff very good. However the girl that met us on entering was quite rude & if it hadn't been for the fact I didn't want to spoil my friends birthday celebrations I would have been more than happy to respond to her surly manner. She showed us to initial table but we felt like we would be getting bumped by others in every direction. When we asked if we could move to another table & tried to explain why we would like to move she just walked away saying "whatever "!!! Rude!

Absolutely amazing and beautiful place, The interior is stunning and so is the food, delicious and very tasty. We were welcomed by lovely server ‘Sky’ and it was a warm and welcoming service. Server at the bar was very friendly and even helped us with our drinks and recommended some cocktails which i was confused to pick one from many. Made absolutely amazing cocktail. Staffs are very welcoming and very friendly. I would definitely recommend this place and would come back here again.

Food lovely. I had a party of ten for my 60 th birthday. There was only one other table taken in the restaurant so my bill for ten guests would have been the majority of the lunch takings. The restaurant was empty yet we were charge a “peak” premium of £5 each as if you were doing us a favour letting us book. It was an absolute joke! My guests were fuming as was I. Won’t be returning. It’s a shame but the manager should have discretion for this charge. This is not Leeds or any other big city where it’s packed all the time. What a shame!

We visited on Sunday before we went to the cinema. The restaurant was fairly busy, with some large table bookings…the girls waitressing did not stop once, they were working so hard and all kept smiling! Our server, Tate, was brilliant. We were in a bit of a rush and she made sure everything went quickly and smoothly. The food was incredible! Tate was really chatty and lovely and is an absolute credit to The Botanist! We both know how hard hospitality can be, especially around this time of the year, so Tate and the other girls do a great job of maintaining a smile and friendly service! We’ll deffo be back, especially now we’ve found out you’re dog friendly🤩

Orders were wrong, poor service, some food didn’t arrive, some food wasn’t cooked properly, service was very very slow even though we pre ordered

Excellent time Saturday afternoon in the Botanist. Lovely (tad expensive) wine , really lovely food and smiley service. All very nice.

Nice food, good atmosphere but I’m very unhappy with the hidden charges - all in the very, very small print at the bottom of the Christmas fixed menu! £5 extra for steak (there was only a choice of 3 main courses to start with) and a £5 per meal supplement for ‘peak’ dates. The server also didn’t have a clue how to separate our final bill so we could pay separately and we had to work it out ourselves - once we’d realised about the additional charges! Nice food, decent service (until the end) sneaky hidden extra charges which spoiled it by making a relatively cheap meal very expensive at this time of year.

Absolutely Fantastic place, we had our christmas works dinner and the organisation was brilliant. Staff knew who had what, it was seamless, and the service was great! Lovely food considering there was alot of us, and the atmosphere was buzzing. Thanks!

Boring! Never heard one Christmas song. Booked a table for 1.5 hours, only stayed for 1 drink as it was so boring and miserable. Wheres the festive cheer?? Also paid £19 for 2 Christmas cocktails that were gone in two sips.

Lovely place, very much not fulfilling snack (although priced as a main ) Thinks it’s in a major city. Just Tarn as they say here…..AVOID

Food was good, the service was a bit slow and atmosphere wise the live performer was to loud for a meal atmosphere and not actually able to hear what was being sung

Just had the best ever service and we both had the cheeseburger omg it was delicious and a surprise how the flavours were going through each bite. They deserve Michelin stars

Had a girls lunch here this weekend and everything was great. Service was spot on considering how busy it was. Food was delicious and musician added a great festive touch!

My first visit..loved it and will definitely go back. Maybe not on a weekend with a band on has we had to shout to be heard..but the girls were all polite and accommodating of us oldies🤗🤗

Extremely noisy, unable to hold a good conversation at our table which was delayed by 15mins even though we were reminded that we needed to vacate our table on time...saying this food service was quick. Food was good, though the sticky toffee pudding was too cold. Would probably give it a go another time when it's not so busy and noisy...

Beautiful place, 1st class service

We descended on The Botanist on the 26th October 2023 as 12 people and 2 dogs. Our dogs were given fresh water and treats and we were seated in a quiet area of the bar. Orla was our main server and really was attentive but in no way overbearing. She kept on top of our drinks and gave us all our options for sides, etc, when we were choosing our food. It was so relaxing and laid back, the food was great and the staff amazing. Thank you so much for making our experience so wonderful and memorable.

The surroundings were very nice but it was very cold when we ate on a Thursday lunchtime. It was very quiet.

Booked for my mums 50th for 25 people and the girls at the botanist couldn’t have done any more for us! From decorating the tables to serving the group by names and making sure we had everything we needed! Amazing team and my mum had the best time! Thank you :)

The barman when I bought the drinks before we sat down was very indifferent. The food and drinks in the restaurant were very nice although I am not sure if they forgot about desserts or didn’t want to serve them.

Love the Botanist Barnsely its a huge spacious restaurant, with a bar, live music, the deco is amazing, food is exquisite, staff very friendly. Will definitely recommend to others.
