Cracking drinking pub with 7 real ale taps, Moonshine & Landlord always on and a good variety of cask ales from local breweries. Sunday lunches are excellent and very good value, Thai food is available Thurs night eat in and Friday & Saturday for take-away, it's also very good. Sometimes have pie night on a Tuesday which is very popular and I would advise booking as it gets busy! I moved to Thurlstone for the huntsman.

This is a charming country style pub with a fantastic range of guest ales from local breweries which changes regularly. Grey have a games room with pool table and live music nights aswell. The food here is also very nice offering a hood variety. Always occupied by friendly locals and staff.

Visitors should note that food is only served on the days indicated on the Web site. Called in on Wednesday 7 August after long days hiking, only to find no food on, major let down. Pub pleasant enough and drinks service was fine but zero food availability reflects low rating.

An increasingly rare find, The Huntsman's emphasis is on community and social bonding despite its semi-rural location, offering a plethora of amenities from its food, snacks, Thai food night, local honey for sale, pool, darts, outdoor seating, books, instruments, open mic night and other community events to give people every chance to visit. The drinks are good too if you enjoy cask ales, with several guests on rotation, mainly at very affordable prices. The interior is worn-in, but homely with musical instruments and memorabilia relating to hunting and local sports teams. The effort put into the operation should be highly commended in an environment that is causing such venues to close at an alarming rate.

Fabulous Easter Sunday lunch for 7 of us. All our food was delicious, the meats were really great quality and you provided a perfect nut roast dinner and veggie gravy for me 😊. Great selection of real ale too. All the staff were exceptional, so accommodating and really friendly. Such great value too. Thanks all 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🐶

So I went here for the Thai night, The food was really, really good. Very authentic Thai quality food 👌🏽 The real ale selection was quite good as well. Overall very impressed and will be going back again.

Great pub serving wholesome, wonderful food. We booked in for Sunday Lunch, both had the Roast Pork dinners. All cooked freshly, wonderful. The ale is superb too. My wife drinks Pink Gin and her favourite is a Spanish tipple called Puerto de Indias. We’ve only ever been able to get it in Spain, until now! The Huntsman have it! It’s a proper pub with a cosy atmosphere and friendly staff/locals. It’s a must if you’re in the area.

Our first time at this great Pub. Nice to find a traditional Sunday roast with fresh vegetables, homemade Yorkshire puddings and proper gravy. In our party we had both the Roast Beef and the roast pork selections, both were excellent. We all cleared our plates and waited a short while before selecting “puddings” from a selection of traditional sweets! I recommend the Jam Rolly polly ! Great value for money and a refreshing change from “Chain” carveries and their frozen vegetables! They are busy so recommend advance booking!

After reading the good reviews my husband and myself decided to give Sunday lunch a try. So glad we did 😊 fantastic dinner, food so tasty with a piping hot jug of gravy each. Well worth the price, puddings too a great price but too full to try one this time. The atmosphere was so relaxed and friendly, staff very good. Will definitely return in the near future. Thank you.

Gorgeous looking food, different food type nights over the week...last night was pies- they smelled amazing!! Had a very nice Sunday lunch here on Sunday 25th June with our family, 5 adults and 2 children. First class food as was the service. The pool room was made available for us and they made us most welcome. Roast dinners were delicious and served on piping hot plates with lashings of home made gravy and their home made deserts were also very good. All ln all very good and we hope to visit again.

We have been twice here in the past 2 months for a Sunday lunch as a family. It’s a lovely, proper, traditional Yorkshire pub. Welcoming, great food at not ridiculous prices. Sunday lunch was a plentiful portion, proper home cooked Yorkshire puddings ( no frozen stuff here), lots of veggies & big portion of meat. Veggie options are good & our very fussy vegetarian teen loved his nut roast! Deserts are mouthwatering proper puddings - think jam roll poly, apple crumbles & sticky toffee pudding - all superb. Prices really good & half the price of other local places. Staff friendly & hard working. And I just loved the “coituk” ( if you’ve been there you will know ) It’s gets my recommendation 100%

Rustic and classic pub with incredible decoration, excellent beer list and rock classics were playing, a cozy pub where the hours pass quickly and in a very pleasant way, I will be back soon.

Went for a Sunday lunch with family today. Despite being a fairly limited menu, the food is great quality with lots of it. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Only downside was the table size was far too small for 4 people, meaning no room to put plates so ended up on the windowsill as no glasses were cleared. However, still would recommend and will be visiting again.

A propper local real ale pub with a friendly atmosphere. Well worth a visit. Their Sunday lunches are brilliant and their food nights they have such as Taste of Thai etc are well worth a try. Dogs welcome too. This is a traditional local country pub. Absolutely love it.

Sunday lunch on Mother’s Day with my partner. Greeted with cheerful staff behind the bar. Roast dinner excellent. Sam the landlady came and chatted to customers to see that we were all happy. Great little pub.

Has a lovely charm that just can't be bought. Great choice in ales which go perfectly with the Sunday dinner or yummy slabs of pie. Last time I went was with friends to the pub quiz. Definitely worth a stop if in the area!

Lovely old style pub, lots of friendly faces. Table next to us was missing a burger on fully loaded burger but we remained positive. After 1 hour of waiting with a bored child and watching others get served before us who ordered after us we were very disappointed.The food was well being polite the burger was no better than a kids burger at McDonald’s. After a 10 year old eating it he was still starving it was 5/6 mouthfuls for a child. It would definitely not fill an adult was a bit laughable. The pie we thought was being cooked fresh due to the wait but was pre cooked. Creating the meat to be chewy in the steak and chicken pies. Meat and mushrooms cooked separately for pastry to go on top. By the time the meat had gone a burnt colour it was pulled out of the oven before the pastry was cooked doughy underneath. Obviously cooked in batch in a square tin, unfortunately school dinners taste better back in the days. The roasts were hard which the table next to us also giggled about, I think there was a review about them also. Sorry bad experience, new chef needed to save a great friendly traditional pub. The Larger, beer and service was good so don’t let our experience put you off.

Visité este pub con regularidad hasta hace unos 10 años, antes de que los recortes del transporte público hicieran que fuera un desafío para mí llegar desde mi casa a unas 6 millas de distancia.Ahora intentaré visitarlo con más frecuencia después de que el reciente cierre de Covid me haya hecho apreciar más los pubs locales tradicionales.El propietario actual ha mantenido de manera tranquilizadora la sensación y la decoración del lugar inalterada y sigue siendo un acogedor local histórico al borde de la carretera formado a partir de antiguas cabañas de tejedores.El lugar tiene un ambiente muy agradable y acogedor.Nunca he probado la comida aquí antes. Tienen una noche de pasteles los martes y almuerzos están disponibles los domingos por la tarde, pero me intrigó la última noche de "Una muestra de ..." celebrada este jueves. Esta semana fue su primera "noche deslizante". Este consistía en un control deslizante de pechuga de res de Carolina más un control deslizante de cerdo desmenuzado Kansas servido con gajos picantes y encurtidos caseros y ensalada de col.Esto tenía un precio muy razonable de 9 para un comensal solo como yo (o 17 para dos personas). La comida era muy sabrosa y la porción era enorme.Un par de pintas de cerveza local Bradfield Farmers Cherry acompañaron muy bien esto.Darle una oportunidad. No te decepcionará.
