The best restaurants serving British food in Wakefield Rural Wakefield Yorkshire and The Humber

Came while the underground tour wasn't available due to renovation/improvements. However the behind the scenes tour and the time tunnel were excellent. Guides for both were experienced miners and had good stories and knowledge to impart. I would definitely recommend the behind the scenes tour for their input

Great fish and chips but be prepared to queue

Delicious food, the chips are beautiful along with the rest of the menu. The prices are very reasonable for what you get portion wise. The staff are welcoming and friendly. It can get busy so it's best to get in touch and book a table.

Enjoyed my Sunday visit, one of the best carverys around. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. Will deffo be returning.

Only got 1 star cos there's no 0 rating. Advertised gluten free vegetarian sausage sarnie. On receiving the bread was fossilised. Not just stale it was harder than toast and uneatable.took it back to change and was told all the gluten free is the same! Ate some of the sausages cos I was starving, they were total cheap cr@p as well. Park fabulous, cafe I'll never use it again

Didn’t get chance to even eat or drink here as staff were very unwelcoming, on arrival was told that my children pram wouldn’t fit, and practically hushed out the door, not very accessible or “family friendly” as stated

Called for spot of lunch whilst car being serviced - beautiful spot - warm friendly atmosphere and dog friendly - would highly recommend Served by Chloe - very approachable and friendly Would highly recommend

Used to get good portions and good value Now portions are smaller on smaller plates and the prices have gone up so we will not be eating here again.

We come quite frequently and almost have The Chicken Burger. Beef Burger or the Steak Salad.. We will be back. Brilliant pub. Definitely recommend.

Definitely gone downhill since my last visit. Menu doesn't seem to have as much on it as before and it gets a little boring having the same limited menu if you stay for 2 or 3 nights like I did. That said, the onion bhaji starter is really good and so are the hoisin duck pancakes - pity they couldn't make them into main courses ! The pasta dish I had (linguini I think) was very sloppy and tasteless and the hunter's chicken the next night was also poor and bland. Those 2 meals kind of sum up what to expect here unfortunately. Not cheap and not that good.
