A new build made to look and feel old but it's worked very well. It was quiet when we were in but had a nice atmosphere. Pity we have closed all the genuine old pubs to replace with a Disney land interpretation. However I do understand why and to be honest most of the real old pubs were covered in artex in the 70's so not that great. Overall I would reccomend this place especially if just for a quite drink and chat. Food mass produced microwaveish but ok

The bar itself is visually stunning, but unfortunately, the communication between the front-of-house staff, back-of-house staff, and food suppliers seems to be lacking. We each ordered a starter and a main. The starters were nice, though my sister did mention that the calamari was quite salty – but she ate it all the same. The cheesy garlic mushrooms we had, however, were cooked beautifully. After a bit of a wait for our mains, they were finally brought to us. I had the Beef Bourguignon, which was delicious and very enjoyable, along with a side of halloumi fries, which were also lovely. My sister had the chicken burger, which she said reminded her of something from Wetherspoons, but she ate it without any complaints. My mum ordered the speciality burger, specifically without onion. When the waitress brought it over, she even mentioned that it was "burger no onion," but to my mum's surprise, it came with onions. We also noticed that it was missing the BBQ brisket, so we spoke to a staff member, thinking they may have given us the wrong meal, as it had onion and no brisket. It turned out the onions were an error, and we were meant to be informed that there was no brisket – but the waitress hadn't been told this, as the kitchen hadn't communicated it to her. I should also mention that although I originally wanted the bacon chop, I was told they were "eaten out of house and home this weekend." Later on, my mum decided not to continue her meal because the fries were burnt. We raised this with the waitress, who apologised and explained that it was due to supply issues and a lack of communication. However, unless the suppliers are burning the fries, I'm not sure how this excuse works – unless she was implying the original suppliers have changed and they're now using lower-quality produce but still charging high prices. One thing I'd like to mention is that if we had paid £10 for the burger meal, we probably wouldn’t have complained, as you’d expect a simple meal for that price. But at £18.25, the meal was far too expensive for what we received. However, the management was kind enough to comp the meal after we raised our concerns. Would I return for a meal? Probably not. Would I come back for a glass of wine and perhaps some nibbles? Yes, if public transport to the area was better and I didn’t have to drive. Overall, it’s a beautiful, visually stunning pub, but it was let down by the food. Perhaps the issues were with the burgers, as my main was lovely. Still, I wouldn't say what I received was worth the £24.95.

A bit pricey for what you get but decent.

This pub used to be great for food, but it has gone downhill fast! Burnt garlic bread and barely warm mains. Slow service on a Monday,I couldn't imagine waiting on a weekend. The staff are very polite, but it just wasn't a very good experience today. Sorry to say, we won't be going again.

Just had a lovely meal here. I have a problem with gluten but they were able to accommodate me with out a problem. They have equipment just for gluten free food and most meals can be adjusted. Added to that there was a large variety of vegan and vegetarian options as well. Staff were very friendly and efficient and although it was a tad expensive you get what you pay for. And I was happy to pay it. So thank you and I highly recommend this restaurant.

It wasn’t busy but we were waiting 15 minutes to get served so we gave up and left the place. Disappointing. We had been here earlier and it was perfectly fine but at 19:30 in the evening the person behind the bar was incredibly slow, so slow that we left without being served

Met a couple of colleagues who were staying in the premier inn next door for evening meal and a few drinks. I recommended the Red Kite as I’ve always had a good experience, good food etc. being a vintage inns place. When we arrived at around 6.00 on a Monday the place was unusually busy but we still found a table. The food was so disappointing, starters plates were still on the table long after we had finished our mains and the main courses looked and tasted like they had been under the heat lamp for hours. Dry, tough and very poor. Service was slow and we had to move to another table for a few drinks as they simply weren’t clearing all the dirty plates on our table. I was embarrassed to have recommended the pub and can’t understand what has gone wrong / changed from was has always been a good spot.

Booked in for an evening meal, had a voucher for 40% off mains so took advantage. I really wanted the Halloumi Skewer but they were out of stock. Cath our server suggested the Moroccan chicken skewer and I wasn't disappointed. It was very tasty, spicy but not over spicy. The garlic bread and humus side was equally as tasty. Finished off with a mini crumble and latte, really good size for a mini pudding. 10/10 for service, food and drinks.

My wife and I tried this place. I had the breaded chicken which I left as I couldn't cut it and I even tried stabbing my knife into it to cut it but that didn't work so I only ended up eating the chips. When a member of staff came to take our plates away I mentioned it to the person who took the price of my meal off the bill. With this bad experience I will not be going back again even though the meal was taken off the bill. I believe in the old saying once bitten twice shy.

Booked meal Sunday When we arrived they had to find us a table even though we had a reservation. Put in a corner and then ignored for 30 mins. Table behind us was seated 20 mins after us and drinks order taken as they sat. When finally realised we were sat waiting, had to get waitresses attention, we were able to order food and drinks. While waiting, 2 tables across had to ask where chips were to go with his burger. Had been told they were coming when burger was brought out. Gentleman had finished his food before chips arrived so they were declined We ordered the Sunday dinner. Everything was flat cold. The roast potatoes had been par boiled and ruffled ready to be put in oven to complete cooking, but it seems they had just been left under hot light to brown. They didn’t brown and were hard. Rest of vegetables were flat cold. The beef, what little piece and a half has started to crystallise under heat lamp was very dry and rubbery Very disappointed in level of service and food Seems in my opinion that they want the dinners at the expense of good food and not having enough staff. If you don’t have the staff don’t take walk ins and reservations you can’t handle

Booking process through the app was quick and issue free. At the restaurant the service was very good throughout or visit, staff being friendly and efficient. Our four meals 2x sea bass, 1 x fishcakes, 1 x bacon chop were all very good and worth the money except the peas on the bacon chop meal which were very poor quality varying in colour from dark to light green and Luke warm, my suggestion is ditch them altogether or improve the quality, a little butter meted on them would be good. Otherwise the rest of the ingredients were very good and this little issue didn’t spoil our meals. We had three desserts 2x chocolate brownie’s, 1x Bakewell cake and these were also very good.

My wife, brother in law and myself returned to the Red Kite after a significant amount of time. We have in the past had a pleasant time and enjoyed our food on numerous occasions. However, our experience yesterday was disappointing. Whilst my wife and brother in law were eating their meals I had to inform the waitress that the Steak and Venison Pie I had ordered, was inedible ( the pastry was rock hard). Over 15 minutes later a replacement Steak and Venison pie was delivered to our table. The waitress was very apologetic. By this time the others had already finished their meal. In my opinion it wasn’t much better than the original pie. Needless to say I ate it and I paid the bill and we left. We decided that it would be the last time we ate at the Red Kite.

We had a fabulous meal at the Red Kite. We were served by Laura and she was absolutely fantastic. Laura was so attentive and nothing was too much trouble - well done Laura. We had the chicken skewers and they were very good. The venue was also walm and welcoming.

Booked for table of 3. We were served by Cath who was very helpful with our menu choice. We had prawn skewer, fish and chips and a chicken skewer. All very tasty and cooked to perfection. Cath talked us into a mini pudding and hot drink which again were tasty. We downloaded an app which Cath helped us with and we're given a 50%off mains voucher, very handy. We will definitely be back again when we are all free to meet up.

We took my sister for a birthday lunch at the Red Kite on New Year's Day - it was actually her 70th that day. Several members of staff looked after us including the Manager. We were so pleased that we asked to see the Manager and praised her staff. When visiting family again in that area we would definitely re-visit this pub.

Came for lunch today with my dad ,had a lovely lunch, was going to have the steak sandwich bit was sold out so Liam recommended the hot roast beef sandwich with triple cooked chips and onions and horseradish can definitely recommend, also Liam recommended honey 🍯 pot pudding, delicious and you can eat it all even the flowers, great friendly staff ,Andria always really friendly and helpful, great atmosphere, lovely and clean ,will definitely be back again soon ,thanks to the Red kite and your lovely team x

We came in for a late lunch, at about 2.45. The place was nearly empty and felt cold.We asked to move from the table we were given so that we could be by a radiator. Three of us ordered the boef Bourgogne , which unexpectedly was a chunk of beef on a bone. Exorbitant at £25. Mine was mostly fat and l couldn't eat it so my husband swapped with me. Laterthe waitress plonked desert menus on the table and went away.After 20 minutes she had not returned so we got up to pay and leave.

Food is generally ok service can be slow but this is more likely due to insufficient staffing the service is friendly and the staff work hard. Prices are about what you would expect for this type of venue.

We were welcomed into your premises and even though we had no reservation it was no problem. The young lady Emily who looked after us was very helpful with the menu and nothing was too much trouble . She was friendly, polite and is a real asset to your team 👏🏻. The resturant has a lovely warm and cosy atmosphere we shall be coming back again . The meals we ordered (2 meals from the kids' menu and 2 from the a la carte menu) were all a good size, good temperature and tasted nice. The service was good and quite quick without feeling rushed. The staff were pleasant towards us and our children (despite them being quite noisy!) Overall it was good value.

We have been here often and enjoyed our meals. I’ve no complaints today about the food, it was very nice. I’ve come to warn people of how they serve the lamb rump skewer. It was brought to the table on one of those red hot skillets on a wood board. On placing it on the table the waitress said “be careful, the plate is hot”. Having had plenty of meals served on these I knew it would be, however I was not expecting the metal skewer to be the same temperature. When eating off a skewer I’ve always got hold of the skewer and sliced the meat from it. This is what I went to do, only as my thumb touched the skewer I realised the meat had actually been cooked on it. This to me seems way out of line and surely against H&S. While holding my thumb in my cold drink I was thinking of my 7yr old Grandaughter eager to help me with the skewer. Her whole palm and fingers would now be blistered and she would possibly even be in A&E being treated for severe burns. I told the waitress that it was dangerous and she just replied that she told me it was hot. No, she told me the ‘plate’ was hot. In my opinion this should be served with a little oven mitt. The waitress couldn’t look my way when she passed and nobody came to the table to ask if everything was ok. Please be very careful if you order this.

Came for a birthday meal & 4 of us got the Sunday trio priced at £21.95 per plate, was disappointed when our food arrived to have a piece of belly pork that was about 5cm in size, a tiny slice of turkey & a slice of beef. We basically paid just short of £88 for some veg & potatoes. Such a shame as the food was lovely & our last visit was good but the amount of meat for the price wasn't good at all.

Boxing Day meal, booked in at2pm. First visit to the restaurant, so on walking through the door to be greeted by friendly staff is always a good start! So first impressions very clean in both the bar area and the restaurant coupled with nice staff. Food was cooked and presented to perfection by polite and friendly staff. Will we be returning….. yes

Went for the Boxing Day meal. Had 16:30 booking so expecting everything to still be on the menu. The menu didn’t have one of the starters advertised online; so we didn’t have one. Turns out it was just misprints on the menu. Main meal took a very long time to come (1hr 15) it also took 25mins for a drinks order to be taken. Tried to order dessert however, again: didn’t have what my partner wanted- sold out. They only took £6 off the set menu price for us.. so I ended up paying £30 for a duck main and £33 for pork main and a burnt brownie. Appalling all round really. And daylight robbed.

Had a really lovely time with family. Loved the food and atmosphere. 3rd year we've been.

Visited recently and it seemed busy and we ordered 2 x fish and chips. A little overcooked.... Price is high!

Our vist to The Red Kite Wakefield was shocking. We was shown to our table and all really fine and plesent at this point. When the waitress comes for our order, we order drinks for two adults in our 40s and 2 teens (18) but becouse they didnt have any ID on them they refused to serve us. The waitress was rude, the manager equaly as rude and just seemed to make rules up with respect to the UK Law and all in all the best thing about the Red Kite in Wakefield was the seing it in our review mirrow. We like 90% of UK residends decided not to spend our money in a place where you are made to justify your behaviours and exposed to poor customer service. Great job Red Kite. Safe to say you are a perfect example why we the british people are choosing to dine out. Keep up the goid work.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good. It was very busy. We were told that we would have a wait of 30 - 45 minutes and it was at least that. For those who didn't have a starter, it was 90 minutes. It was understandably busy for Christmas, but maybe there should be less tables booked per timeslot.
