This is a Brewers Fayre pub next door to the Premier Inn we were staying in, there was plenty parking outside for non-residents. It's located on the canal so we had a nice views from our window table and it also offers the chance for a nice stroll before dinner. It was very quiet on a Wednesday night in March, only a few tables were taken inside within a very large open area with tables spaced out so there was no sense of 'cosiness', it all felt a bit cold & soulless. However that might change when it is busy at weekends. After waiting for a while for someone to turn up to serve us we ordered drinks and meals at the bar quoting our table number. The meals arrived very quickly, so they are probably microwaved, but they were surprisingly good especially given the cost - much better than most Brewers Fayres. There was a reasonable choice of beer and wine and not too expensive. It was OK but not anything special, however the staff we friendly.

We had the small breakfast which included tea. Good size teapot full and used tea leaves which you never see nowadays. Breakfast was good, the sausage had never seen small lol. Very good value for money. We had one small issue which was addressed immediately which, in my view, is the main thing so I havent deducted anything. The pub has been in the family for years and years before that a different pub. Lovely friendly welcome. Hidden gem but worth hunting out.

Called in for a cake and drink. We had seen a sign saying "warm drink with homemade cake £6". Order was eventually taken and drinks arrived but no cake. I had to go and ask when the cake was coming. The drink and cake were good. The friend with me just had a tea. When we came to pay, it was over £10. I asked why when the cake and warm drink were £6. That made it a very expensive tea! Response ... you didn't state you wanted the hot drink and cake deal so they have been charged separately!! Really?? What is that all about?? Not impressed with that response so won't be going back!

Friendly staff, very inadequate sandwich filling! Paid £3.95 for an egg mayo sandwich, there was a very small blob in the centre of the t cake none around the edges and the bread took over the taste, I did ask the waitress if they had forgotten the filling, she replied no she made you an egg mayo. No attempt to rectify, also my grandson got a child’s lunch box, his sandwich was adequate but the orange was very old no flavour and extremely tough a dry. On the plus side my daughter said her pie and peas was nice. Afraid we will not be retuning.

The Cafe used to do full meals and breakfasts now it is basically a coffee shop with the old buns and cakes. We used to look forward meeting up for a Christmas breakfast prior to doing or big Christmas shop but now can't as they don't serve so we will have to shop elsewhere, can Sainsbury's afford to loose this custom for sake of a few breakfasts ?????
