Sainsburys Cafe in Calderdale

The Cafe used to do full meals and breakfasts now it is basically a coffee shop with the old buns and cakes. We used to look forward meeting up for a Christmas breakfast prior to doing or big Christmas shop but now can't as they don't serve so we will have to shop elsewhere, can Sainsbury's afford to loose this custom for sake of a few breakfasts ?????

This café just cannot get it right. Only a few people in front but the wait is still a minimum of 15 minutes! The "menu" is now very basic and then they haven't even got all of those items available ie. no wholegrain toast or jam. This is not even the first time this happened in the space of a couple of weeks. Staff are friendly but clearly under resourced and whoever is supposed to manage the place can't.

We were all disappointed no breakfasts or cooked food so we left bought our shopping elsewhere. We all used to look forward to coming here and when they reopened after covid we felt very let down

Ordered takeaway and it came out on plates. Paid for bacon with extra sausage and when got to work and opened no bacon at all. As they had got it wrong first time the had obviously reheated my omelette in microwave as tastes like rubber. When they say toppings on omelette they mean it literally, It's like an omelette calzone.Will not be going back again.

1-15 lunch time . Stood in a long line for 30 mins , moved only 3 paces . 1 person serving drinks , 1 taking food orders and payments . 1person bringing food orders out Another line formed at the other end of the till asking for refunds for orders they had waited over half an hour for . Customers running back down the line grabbing sandwiches and cake from almost empty chiller cabinets muttering about hot food orders will be at least 40 mins . Customers leaving line and going else where . Absolute chaos. People on limited lunch breaks have no chance of having lunch . In 30 mins I counted over 50 customers walking out . Before I did the same . It’s coming up double nectar promotion and Christmas . Management need to get their act together and employ more staff if they want to keep their customers . Been going down hill for a very long time - today was a total disgrace . Worst service I’ve encountered in years .

Excellent choice of food, freshly prepared & served to your table. Good prices & can't fault the full English. Mmmmm.

Not the staff's fault. Rubbish management trying to run the cafe on the cheap with as few staff as possible. Staff look totally demoralised. We asked for our money back

Came for breakfast not the best of quality and for what you pay for it small portion the food was cold and very bland no problems with the cleanliness or the environment could do with more staff tho as the staff are slow at serving and left our hot drinks on the side too long before handing them to us while they served other customers improvements needed.

The café was very busy but easy to get a table . You order your meal and pay at the counter and are then given a table number card to display. There was a good selection of dishes . I had the all day breakfast and my wife had fish chips and peas. We both had tea. The meal was brought to our table without a long wait. The food was lovely, tasty , well cooked and hot. could not fault it .I would definitely visit again.. .

Service was extremely slow, with counter staff showing no or very little initiative or eagerness to reduce waiting time. Queued for almost 15 minutes to place my order with no apologies for the wait, to be then told there would be at least a 20 minute wait for the food. There were more people in the queue than in the cafe. I think you need more staff or at least ones that have more experience. Lots of customers were also complaining. It's a shame as it's a nice cafe and the food was good when it eventually came.

Great place for quick lunch. Food good, decent choice of meals. Defined recommend for business people.

We come here several times a week. We have been coming here so much that the cafe staff know what we drink :) not quite the food as we keep changing, at the moment, bacon baguette, but the food is good, staff are friendly.

Called for lunch and we both chose lasagne, it was just ok. It was served with a side salad and at £4.50 was not too expensive, but it wasn’t the best lasagne I have had and it could have been hotter. The staff seemed very disorganised so this led to a long wait to get served. Overall just an average supermarket cafe.

We are regulars at this Cafe, it is convenient for shopping and serves good quality food at average prices. It is cafeteria style. Car parking can be an issue at times.

Went for something to eat so went for the Christmas lunch nice food but not worth the price tho could do better for the price paid very busy cafe wait times for food can take a while so do expect a wait if you order food but over all nice little cafe upstairs in Sainsbury’s

Have breakfast 2 or 3 times a week, then we don't eat untill the evening, very filling.varied menu for healthy option to a full fry up.

Si te apetece un Café o desayuno en un café a un precio razonable que estás en el lugar correcto. El café es normal, pero prepárate para esperar hasta que te sirven en la factura. Las mujeres que trabajan allí son agradables pero muy lento! ! ! Creo que emplea pensionistas Sainsbury's para ahorrar el costo personal?

Scrambled eggs were not mixed properly and bland. Bacon also tasteless You would that a food store would serve good food but some culinary skill is needed and sadly lacking here.

Staff spend all their time chatting, ordered food 25 minutes ago and I'm still waiting. I wont be coming here again.

Basic supermarket coffe for having cup of coffee , breakfast or lunch . It serves box standard average drinks and food . Don't expect too much

A good place to go for a coffee of quick no frills cheap meal. Looks and feels like a works canteen but you get what you pay for

High quality, good value and excellent service at Sainsbury's. Usually busy - always a good sign - but efficiently managed - a "tight ship"! The menu changes infrequently but there is a good rane available to suit most tastes and occasions. Really good choice of breakfast items with splendid mushrooms and bacon. Fish and chips are sometimes on special offer and the Christmas dinners with mince pies comprehensively filling and well worth it (Not available all year!) The restaurant is spacious with good toilets and lift or stair access fro the store. Just the job before or after a shopping spree. Much better than several other locl supermarket offerings. Give the omellettes a miss however - thay taste pre-prepared.

I am a regular in this cafe for a coffee after shopping. They do get busy so I avoid meal times . Went in about 3.00 . Utter chaos . Took 20 mins to get served . No clean plates so had to ask for one. Then six pare cups half filled with soda but at sometime the machine hadn't worked. One young man serving and one person making drinks. When the door swung opened there was 4 stacks of dirty dishes and several trays on the floor . Really didn't look good ! When we had finished our drink there was no where to stack tray as the tower was full. The whole place was a mess. Shame. You look to need more staff !

Good basic meals and snacks at sensible prices. The cafe in Halifax is well organised, sparklingly clean, well staffed and a very pleasant haven to visit before or after shopping. Breakfast's are excellent, fish and chips very tasty and the drinks come in large measures(thankfully!"). Avoid the omelettes which taste pre-prepared though. A ift from the shop is well placed and there are good toilet and baby changing facilities. On our last visit the manageress came over to chat and was charming company taking a keen interest in our views of her area of responsibility. Well done! .

The staff are lovely - really friendly....but so slow! However, if you're not in a rush, they make a lovely cappuccino :-)

Why oh why do I come here on a Saturday morning!!! The staff are very obliging and helpful, but are the staff that clearly have all been redeployed as there isn't arush between them. Their service is so slow to the point of standing still. The food can take up to 40 mins to arrive and then when it does it's cold. Please sainsburys you have the opportunity to create a great concept in a cafe that has a lot of foot fall. Sort it as it's currently shocking

Very disappointed with both service & standard of food. Even after we complained the staff were unhelpful & rude - like it was all too much trouble to try & get it right.

Too overpriced for quality of food. Taste like it is microwaved frozen food. Come on Saintsbury's I know you can do better!

Had a delicious fish and chips with my girlfriend and it was really tasty!!!you can't go wrong and you get free condiments too!Would highly recommend

if it would let me I would put zero rating - the first time we visited we asked for scrambled eggs on toast - we were told they had run out of eggs and were waiting for a delivery as they were not allowed to make them themselves - we were shopping in Sainsbury's and thought we would give it another go - my breakfast came out hard egg, cold beans bacon cold and like hardboard it was sent back and when returned it had just been put in the microwave to heat up - I was asked if I wanted another breakfast but I thought I would pass on the offer

The food is pretty much what you would expect for a supermarket café! But the staff make up for it by being so friendly and helpful.

Love to take a break here - always taking tea - (Sainsbury's Red Label of course) which is always excellent and good value into the bargain. Occasionally take a cooked breakfast, following an early morning swim and prior to hitting the aisles in the supermarket downstairs, and always been completely satisfied with everything. Main meals, too, are of the high quality and good value one would expect of Sainsbury's!

My partner and I had a full breakfast here today and my daughter had a bacon sandwich. It was terrible, tasteless undercooked bacon, soggy toast, snotty undercooked egg whites and a hard tomato. We left most of it and when we were asked if everything was ok we said no, and told them why but there was no apology, just an 'assurance' that they probed everything they cook so it was definitely not underdone. If you like pale fatty bacon then go for it! We will go to Morrisons cafe in future.

There is a lift - unless you want to use the stairs. The café is pretty quiet, without being too quiet. It serves a good range of snacks and meals, and all at reasonable prices. Very friendly staff, too.

Decided to have tea in Sainsburys Cafe recently with my partner and we both decided on Ham, Eggs and Chips. I went to the counter to order and what was promptly told that it was off the menu but did I want the brunch which included eggs and chips but no ham. I therefore made the assumption, maybe wrongly, that they were out of ham. Every sorry, there is a supermarket downstairs!!! Anyway the brunch arrived and it was very nice and cooked well.
