I wasnt sure what to expect as this is based in Halifax and it can at times be lacking nicer bars. Lovely open fire in the top part of the bar which would be nice to go to on a cold day. The place looks lovely and has a great selection of drinks. There is also a little bar downstairs where you can go for a boogie. It is small and will probably fit 30-40 people comfortably but good music selection and a clean nice bar. Will definitely be back.

I went to The Nut House whilst on a business trip and from the minute I walked in I was blown away with the friendliness of the place and the quality of offer from fantastic cocktails to specialty teas and coffees. The staff and the owner obviously take pride in what they have created here and this shines through. If I lived in Halifax I would certainly visit several times per week (daytime and night time) but I will make another visit a priority next time I am in the town..well done.

I am sad to be giving this place a bad review because I did look forward to visiting. The décor is nice, the staff are lovely (we were looked after most of the evening by a brilliant waitress- Blonde curly hair, Polish (I think)) and the atmosphere is good. Unfortunately things did not remain brilliant. I was suspicious when my friend's Prosecco cocktail was cloudy and I'd seen the barman pour the 'Prosecco' from a huge 1.5l bottle. I took it back to the bar and asked to see the 'Prosecco' it had been made with. I was assured that it had been made with Prosecco, although a little extra pushing changed that answer to 'something just the same as Prosecco'. After demanding to see the bottle it had been poured from I was handed a half empty open bottle of Lambrini from the bottom of the fridge. After a further argument that £1 per litre wino-fave Lambrini is most definitely not the same thing as Prosecco, I was told that this was the way the cocktails had to be made by order of the management. I am very disappointed that the short sighted management of this establishment seem to think that for some reason it is fine to rip off customers in this way. I hope they see the error of their ways and serve what the menus say.

I have visited the Nut House three times now with a friend during the daytime for a coffee /tea. It is a lovely little place with friendly staff and nice decor. There is a wide range of drinks to choose from and all the ones I've had so far have been delicious. I haven't had chance to go on an evening as yet but I am hoping to soon so I can try a cocktail. I would definitely recommend a visit.

We were looking for somewhere to go for a drink before our meal and quite honestly there is nowhere very exciting in Halifax. One of our party remembered the "Nut House" and said we should try it. It is different, beautifully decorated and the cocktails were amazing. The mojito was one of the nicest I've ever had. I believe this place serves special teas too which gives it its quirkiness, and there's a dance floor downstairs as well. Well done "Nut House", it's about time someone came up with something different and you've succeeded!

After recently moving to Halifax and having family pop over for a visit we found this very unique little bar at the top of town decorated with wood an brick work very different but a very nice change to the usual pubs and bars around.. The cocktails were made with their own liqueurs something everyone should try it has candle lit booths to sit on and a fire incase it gets cold. Very appealing place I will be returning

I recently met up with a friend in Halifax. Neither of us live in the area and we were just looking for a place to enjoy a brew. We stumbled upon this lovely little cafe/bar.We were immediately given a warm welcome by a lovely girl called Leah and she explained the menu and all of our options. The selection of teas is excellent and the whole experience was very fun. Definitely a tea haven. We enjoyed 2 different pots of tea, which each came with a free refill and we also tried some of their freshly ground coffee. Being vegan the biscuits which came with our drinks were unsuitable, but after explaining this to Leah she was very accommodating and offered us some different biscuits which were suitable for vegans. As for the decor, it was very pleasing. While the table was a little small for the tea trays, we managed fine. It would have been nice if there were some vegan food options, but Leah did say she would mention the idea to the manager as it would be a great way to cater to any vegan visitors wanting to enjoy food with their drinks. We shall definitely be visiting again next time we are in the area.I noticed some bad reviews regarding the evening, this I cannot comment on as I visited in the day.

I popped in with my wife for a cocktail after a meal and was impressed with the unique decor and the theme. I ordered a mojito and was given the worst mojito I have ever had. It clearly states the breakdown of the cocktails on the menu and yet they still did it poorly. It had about 2 leaves of mint and instead of nice soda water to top up the drink, they pulled out a 2 litre bottle of lemonade! It was clearly flat as it was all squashed and the lid wasn't even on and proceeded to fill up my drink. When it came, it genuinely looked like a child had made it. They topped it with sweets on a toothpick and Maraschino CHERRY! It was flat and bitter and ridiculous.I would've taken it back and asked it to be made again but the fact that they were looking at the menu when making it, left me with no hope.

The Nut House is difficult to explain in terms of décor. There is a lot of wood, comfy bench seats, narrowish tables, living flame gas fires, copious jars of herbs, bottles of liqueurs and tins & jars of coffees, herbal teas and tisanes. Tucked away down a side street this place is as unexpected as it is relaxing. Set over three floors, the basement houses an evening dance floor and the loos; the ground floor has the main counter and seating area (beware the small step at the entrance); the mezzanine has two low tables with seating. There is no lift. When four of us went we found the tables a little small to accommodate the tea trays but the level of service was different from when we first went two weeks earlier. This is not just a café but an experience, which starts when you pick up the comprehensive beverage menu. Teas and tissanes arrive on a tray with one pot on a burner, another pot to pour into, a timer, a sugar stirrer and a cup & saucer. My favourite drink here is the Amoretto tea which is not alcoholic but a blend of tea, flowers, nuts and fruit but the mix smells just like Amoretto. The cost may be a little higher than other cafes but so is the quality and the unique tastes. Sandwiches and cakes are also available but no hot food. They appear to be aiming for a different clientele in the evenings but the day is for genteel folk who want a cuppa with class.

Visited here a few times with friends, great little bar in the evening with good cocktails and nice barstaffIt's becoming very annoying though that every-time I've entered the place I'm told to "wear a shirt next time" or some other comment from the doorman.I refuse to change what I like to wear on a night out to please a new bar in Halifax that's just opened for the privilege of spending £7.50 on a cocktail. And as for buying "membership" for £10, again for the privilege of even able to spend money inside, well that just isn't going to happen any time soon.
