Enjoyable experience, service was okay. Food wasn't as good as on previous visits although the quality was good. It's probably not an issue for 3/4 of the year but the toilets are absolutely freezing 😅

Fantastic experience, had a meal to celebrate with my fiancé’s family as a surprise, the staff went as far as to put lights on in the bandstand outside the restaurant so i could propose there, then gave us a bottle on the house as a congratulations, food was amazing, service was great, couldn’t ask for more.

Service seemed a bit overwhelmed so took time to get seated for our booking. The person assigned to our table had a HUGE attitude and did not engage with us as you would of expected. Took ages for simple food to arrive and it was "dropped in passing" on our table. Limited menu is available so a negative also. Would i go back? No. Could the place do better? Yes. Brush up on your FO staff that are a good ambassador to your business rather than treating people like they walked into their own home

The pork belly was all kinds of wrong. It was advertised with crackling, but there wasn't any crackling on the plate at all. There was about a millimeter of breadcrumbs wrapped around the meat, which were undercooked anyway - but in any case, breadcrumbs... instead of crackling??? Unbelievable. The jus was so burnt it tasted incredibly bitter. I didn't say anything as there was a lot of us, but I'm still in shock as to just how bad this plate was. Soup of the day was tomatoe - make an effort, it's not like you were giving the stuff away. And the crumble pudding was absolutely bat dung crazy bonkers inhumanely sweet. No one round our table finished it for the same reason. I can't remember a worse meal I've paid for. Can't imagine a scenario where I'd consider returning, shocking experience, absolute joker chefs.

Our visit today started well with a friendly welcome. However, we sat down and the restaurant was uncomfortably cold. Lots of people around the restaurant kept their coats on. Food was expensive for what it was (with the exception of the kids menu- that was a good portion and quality for the price). Partner had a very dry chicken sandwich for £11. My veggie burger tasted fine but was underwhelming, tiny and £17. Worst part of the visit was when the tray on the highchair (that had been set up before we arrived) suddenly flipped off, causing our toddler's dinner and drinks to fall to the floor with quite a clatter. The tray mustn't have been attached properly when set up. Whilst we appreciate that mistakes happen, not one member of staff apologised, asked if she was ok, or offered to replace her meal (she was no where near finished) or drink. We decided against staying for dessert at this point- the experience was just unpleasant. Wouldn't recommend and wouldn't return for a meal. The cafe area at the front of the building might be better? Shame really because the decor and surroundings are lovely.

Prebooked and preordered food for 1pm. I had to leave at 1.50 due to other commitments without receiving any food. Really slow service, to the point of waiting 50 minutes without any food arriving. What is the point of preordering food for it not to be ready ? You wouldn’t even wait 50 minutes for a non-preorder meal! This was my first experience and I won’t be returning.

Good service. But…Food was mediocre. The liver for my friend’s main was dry and over cooked. My rigatoni was flavoursome but it was the size of a starter, as was another friend’s butternut squash risotto, not substantial at all for the £16.00 price tag. I had to order bread to fill up. The treacle tart was a tad more than an inch wide portion. All in all pleasant atmosphere, if not a little gloomy, good service, but don’t go if you’re hungry.

6 adults for a weekday lunch. Restaurant was cold. All ordered sandwiches. Food was average and service was slow. Also got stopped on the way out to say we had left the bill short by £10 for the waitress to then find it. Eaten here a few times but this time was really poor. Probably won’t return.

Went for lunch with colleagues and ex colleagues from work. There were 6 of us and we all ordered either a sandwich or a burger which came with skinny fries. The waitress asked all of us if we wanted to upgrade our fries and it felt as though she had been told to upsell the fries. We all decided to stay with the normal fries which didn’t seem to go down very well. We then proceeded to wait 45 mins for any food to arrive and it was definitely not worth the wait . I ordered the vegan avocado and chickpea sandwich and it was very underwhelming. The filling was almost frozen and the bread would have benefited from being toasted to try and warm up the meal . We then waited a while for sauces and the ketchup never arrived . Took ages to pin someone down to get the bill and then even longer to get a card machine. Overall the whole experience was very underwhelming and it took then 1.5 hours to provide six mediocre sandwiches . Btw the skinny fries that the waitress was desperate for us to upgrade were by far the best part of the meal ironically. Definitely will not be returning .

Terrible experience Booked a table in person today at 11.15 for 12.30 and a lovely member off staff even let us pick our table and wrote it down with the table number. Arrived at 12. 25 and out table had been given to another customer. When staff were approached they were very defensive and dismissive and quoted they could put us where they wanted as it was very busy due to the Xmas markets. Then when trying to speak with another member of staff she just said "whatever" and walked away. Decided to stay as we've been on 3 other occasions and had excellent service and meal but how wrong we were. Meal was luck warm, sent soup back but it came back no different, chicken was dry and cold. Experience completely ruined and we will never go here again. The 2 members of staff that met us at the door had a terrible attitude and absolutely no customer service skills. Such a shame.

This place looks lovely but that's as good as it gets. We booked and arrived on time. The waitress took us to a table but didn't say anything. The table wasn't clean, no drinks menu. We waited for over 15 minutes before we had to be asked to be served. The waitress was horrendous she didn't look interested and got our drinks order wrong. The main meal was good but we hadn't even finished our food before she tried to take it away. It then took us another 30 minutes to get the bill and another 20 minutes to pay. Overall: not great, the staff need training in actually serving people... Another good course would be... How to greet people.

Our second visit to the trading rooms. I ordered the Thai style chicken burger and my other half the belly pork. My burger was absolutly tasteless very dry and luke warm. One piece of lettuce some tasteless shredded red cabbage and onion. No sauce no flavour. The belly pork was a joke the tiniest piece of pork with a tiny bit of potato and nothing more. It was £18 for less than 2 mouthfuls. Such a shame as its a lovely setting. Sadly won't return. We did express our disappointment but no one was interested.

My mum unfortunately got confused by the staffs questions regarding allergies and said she was intolerant to milk. The staff then took it upon themselves to refuse to serve her anything trying to convince her to have a completely dairy free meal (of which there are very few btw in case you are vegan looking for a meal) that she did not want. They refused to back down despite clarifying that there were no allergies. Very poor service and argumentative manager.

We had booked a table for the evening however, decided to call in for lunch beforehand. Young waitress was indecisive whether there was a table for us at that time of day until her colleague took over. I requested the peppered pastrami sandwich without salad on. I was offered skinny fries or chunky chips and chose chunky. Sandwich arrived with skinny fries and salad on which I mentioned. The waitress apologized and took it back. Back it came with chunky chips but still salad. She apologized and said it was her fault but didn't offer to take away again. I took the salad off myself but this unfortunately took off the cheese. Left half. Only good thing were the chips. Asked her for the bill but had to ask another member as kept waiting. Needles to say we cancelled our evening reservation.

Started with the sage and onion soup which came with a generous portion of toasted sourdough. We also had the Toasted House Bloomer, Olive Oil & Aged Balsamic, Olive & Jalapeño Butter. We travelled from Leeds to eat here, based on a recommendation and the website. When we arrived the menu we'd seem when we booked had been replaced with a couple of burgers, a couple of pasta dishes and a couple of salads. We asked why and there was some mumbled excuse about the gigs at the Piece Hall (there was no gig that evening). They gave a weak apology when we asked why we hadn't been warned about the menu change. They also tried to charge us for a meal we didn't order. Food was good but visit was a disappointment.

We stood outside by the lectern for a couple of mins waiting to be seated, eventually asked a member of staff is we should wait there or go inside to be seated, she said we should just go inside. We were seated and were brought menus and water. Our drinks order was taken, there was no drinks menu in the table so we had to ask what was available. Then nothing. For 15 minutes. No drinks appeared, our food order wasn’t taken. The waiting staff are so inattentive! Numerous members walked past our table and didn’t even glance our way. We decided to leave and let a member of staff know, she said they were having to change a barrel so that’s why the drinks hadn’t arrived, I’ve worked in bars, it’s doesn’t take that long to change a barrel and still doesn’t explain whey nobody had been back to let us know or take our food order. As we left a gent from another table went up to the same member of staff and said ‘And after all that you still haven’t taken our drinks order’. The Trading rooms is the only conventional restaurant in the piece hall and it aims to provide an element of fine dining. The service at lunchtime was excellent but the food let the place down. I started with panfried scallops and truffled ham hock with pea puree and pancetta 'crisp'. The crisp wasn't- boot leather springs to mind. The ham hock overwhelmed the scallop as well. Then the roast butternut squash risotto was bland and underwhelming. It's a real pity. I didn't attempt a dessert, but the coffee was fine. I just hope the chefs were having a bad day

Very strange menu. Why isn’t there some simple items for people to enjoy. Almost every item has some sort of strange ingredient which doesn’t belong. It pays to keep things simple and tasty. Sandwich section is bizarre, where’s the BLT.?!? Why is everything served on vegan bread?!? Onion rings were cooked in some strange batter and were as plain as wall paper. Chips were terrible, KFC does it better. Burger was tasty but the bun wasn’t pure brioche bun, some strange seeds on it. WHY?!? Staff were friendly and good level of service. Restaurant was super clean, as were the facilities. Outdoor seating (dogs allowed outside only) heating available outside.

Super disappointed as first visit and was really looking forward to it. The place was clean and looked nice. Bramble cocktail delicious. One toilet per sex (not great for size of place and having to queue in a small corridor with men and women not ideal). The menu had changed since we booked and I had my taste buds set on the prawn and scallop linguine, however it wasn't on the new menu so as there wasnt anything else i fancied I asked for the scallop and ham hock starter as a main and ordered onion rings and fries as sides. I received a few tiny scallops and a piece of (? Breadcrumb coated?) Ham hock that was so hard I couldn't cut with my knife and fork in fear it would fly off my plate, knock some other poor diner out and bring attention to my table yet again - after having a medium glass of rose spilt all over me by the (sincerely apologetic) waitress - so attempted to chomp down on it using my fingers. Classy. Anyway chunky chips nice. Onion rings tasteless. One friend ordered what she thought was a type of posh cheeseburger, but it didn't have any meat in it. She said it was nice it was just odd as she expected some meat in there too. Another friend ordered chicken burger and said it was worth the quite long wait. The other two in party ordered chicken supreme and as theyd never been before either asked what the portion sizes were like and if theyd need to order starters but werent really that hungry. Anyway the waitress went to ask the chef and he said usually they came with about 3 potato's but he'd put 8 on their plate lol however it came with about 3 potatoes. The chicken supreme diner's said although portion very small it was lovely. I won't slate the spillage of the drink too much as it wasn't a glass of red all over the cream trousers I was wearing and we got our first drinks knocked off the bill so I think that was an adequate apology and everyone else on the table was quite happy I had wine thrown all over me to get a free drink! Ha.

Though The Trading Rooms looks clean and classy, I can’t get over the lengthy wait time for my food and the mediocre sandwiches I received. Given the price, I was expecting a lot more - not to mention, everything was lukewarm.

Great day to eat outside. Nice staff and great service. Food was excellent. Atmosphere is probably better inside. Nice location with views of Piece Hall.

Sat outside in one of the pods as it was a nice day. Staff are efficient and friendly. Menu is limited especially for vegetarians/,vegans but the food we had was good. Soft drinks are on the expensive side, £2.75 for dilute squash is excessive.

Spend nearly 3 hours watching the world go by on a lazy Sunday afternoon sat outside in the sunshine. Nice setting in The Piece Hall and great service too. They also had some quirky round roofed booths which seemed popular. The food I saw coming out for other people looked appealing.

Food was tasty but not perfect. Could not find any scallops in the Prawn, Scallop and Chorizo Linguini. Others in party disappointed with their food too. Service was good; very friendly staff. Rather overpriced bearing in mind quality.

This is a great place to dine. After our order was taken we were asked if we had any allergies which my husband has (dairy) so the pasta dish he fancied had a cream sauce which they changed to oil & 🌿 it was delicious 😋. The staff were all pleasant and friendly infact can't fault this place & will be returng ASAP also the piece hall with its lovely little shops delightful

Went for a Mother's Day meal, staff were friendly and food was really tasty. Little expensive for what it was. Only 1 vegetarian/vegan option for main courses on the mother's day menu which I thought was a little tight... and no vegetarian option for the sunday roast as potatoes were in duck fat. Lady singing was really lovely and very talented, but was a little too loud and we couldn't hear each other very well.

Visited Trading Rooms on Mothers Day 2023. Having had a poor experience 12 months prior I thought the issues encountered might have changed however it’s even poorer now. Firstly the choice was poor, the staff were not very professional, me and my children were questioned when we went to the toilet and told they were for patrons only, it took two attempts of explaining we were eating before being ALLOWED to use the facilities, there were no tables inside even tho for the hour and half we were there we could see half a dozen tables empty, it took just under an hour for our food (1x pizza and 2 x bangers and mash) to be served and finally when I asked to speak to the manager to complain I was told they were too busy (probably happens that often their ears are ringing) thus why I’m posting the experience here. I won’t go back again and I would not recommend The Trading Rooms, find somewhere else to eat and drink instead.

Nice drinks and decor but the food was a disappointment. Had the ribs and they were tough and bland. It felt like they were cooked with no seasoning and then someone squirted BBQ sauce on at the end. Friends had chicken sandwich was similarly bland.

It’s a nice restaurant. Staff are excellent and food is good as well. I got chicken burger which was alright.. not really great for the price but the fries were nice. Some onion rings they served were nice as well. My friend got some roast dinner and she was happy with it.

What an amazing restaurant you are greeted with a warm Yorkshire welcome. Staff are well trained. Menu is outstanding, as is the food. We were served by an absolutely fabulous young lady whose attention to detail was outstanding. On speaking with her manager, we pointed out this to her. She was only sixteen years old with a very bright future ahead of her. We look forward to returning. I totally recommend a visit you will not be disappointed. Continued success with all that you do.

10z sirloin steak was very good quality, ample portions. It was a busy lunchtime service was really good, staff are very kind, patient and experienced. Seating comfortable and interior decor nicely done. A lovely place to visit as a couple or in a group, plenty of variation with meals and drinks, good prices considering within piece hall, overall lovely and would visit again, recommended. (Should try increase number of wc's as only 1 of each I think? There was a bit of a queue for both ladies and gents) .

I came here for a pint with my partner on a Saturday at 4pm. We were able to find a table and I got served at the bar quite quickly. Prices are good compared to some other places nearby. Nice vintage pub decor and a good selection on beers and spirits. Some cocktails are available on a 2 for £12 deal. And there is free WiFi available.
