Brilliant Sunday lunch, really good service too

Fine powder and teaspoon in the toilets - drugs. Uncleaned tables all over this place.

What a friendly pub to be in, sat outside with some of the locals especially Mathew who kept going back in the pub to help out as it was so busy.Had an amazing time, food was great , staff brilliant would certainly be back again.

What an absolute gem of a pub. Went mid week and it was steady. Good selection on the menu and on the specials board. Both opted for the steak and ale pie. It was amazing, packed full to the lid of the pie, big pieces of meat, proper chips and mushy peas. Jug of gravy was so nice, we opted for the large and I was bursting after, my partner left some due to been full. The taste was so good, definitely no room for a pud'. We had a couple of drinks each and staff were very attentive. Though, not the cheapest at just over £60. We thought it was definitely the best food we'd had in a long long time. Worth a visit, will definitely be back next time we're over that way. Friendly staff, dog friendly, I bet this place is packed weekends. Many thanks to the staff and excellent chef...👍

Lovely pub in the town centre. We went lunchtime and it was very busy, which is good to see. Friendly staff, reasonable menu, nice interior decor and good music. Would definitely go again!

Great experience. I don’t recall a sirloin steak more tender. Diane sauce, though old school, was done beautifully. Another great dining experience in Yorkshire.

Took my dad (95) for fish & chips, we all absolutely loved it and the spicy apple crumble is amazing. We will definitely be back.

Nice pub with a good selection on the menu. We ordered three starters for a set price which is a good option if you're not too hungry. The food wasn't amazing but good quality.

We visited on Sunday and the food was SO nice. We had fish goujons and the garlic tiger prawns to start. We then had the roast beef dinner. The roast has now topped our list of best Sunday dinners it was so tasty. The pub is lovely and staff very friendly!

Great shepherds pie, good beers and wines. Busy on Saturday after Christmas but got a table and really enjoyed our meal.

Excellent pub, steak n ale pie very very nice, could have done with a few more chips, but hey that's just me. Good service very friendly even though they very busy. Will be back again soon

Just had a carvery here 29/12/24 as we are staying for new years and I've got to say wow it was great! Plenty of well cooked meat and everything to go with it was also great 👍🏻

Our visit was on the same day as the Christmas markets, the place was hammered, we managed to squeeze into some seats with help from the staff. The food was exception, and would have been at anytime but to continue serving food of that quality on such a busy day was a credit to everyone there. Proper pub grub made fresh, and really reasonable prices. Will definitely be returning.

Lovely pub right in the centre of Hebden Bridge, fast service at the bar even though it was so busy. Great atmosphere full of live, not huge inside so it does fill quick. But loads of outside seating at front door.

Had a wee snifter as they say in the SoM and found it very convivial. I have no photo evidence of this, but will supply some in due course. Needless to say if I rate it so highly across the board you are in extremely safe hands. Cue a raft of other miserable reviews. Excellent place 😎

Busy, atmospheric, comfy, good beer selection

Superb Beer & Food. Ideally located in the centre of Hebden Bridge, Shoulder of Mutton is well worth a visit for excellent food from an award winning Chef and 4 Real Ales, including on my visit a favourite of mine Fullers London Pride.

My friend and I had a day off and came to Hebden Bridge. We had lunch at this wonderful pub and the wine and the steak and ale pie were absolutely gorgeous. It was busy and it had a nice atmosphere. Plenty of locals and the service was good. Would highly recommend for a lovely lunch if out and about in Hebden Bridge!

Decent pints, good prices, warm atmosphere.

Seemed like a nice enough place. Landlord as a guest ale was a plus. Ordered the fish butty - utterly awful, stay well clear - no butter, no tartare (had to add mayo), extremely greasy and way too much batter - really disappointed.

The wife and I had a Sunday lunch here. Cannot fault it. Good food, good portions, good value, good ambience and great staff.

Ordered two dishes. One soup and sandwich and some white bait. Soup was cool, sandwich was actually a uncut breakfast muffin with cheap grated cheese with very few onions,and had hairs in it. The whitebait had my wife suffering from indigestion and tummy upset twenty minutes after we left . Won't be returning 😔.

Didn't get to enjoy the pub, bar staff served three people that arrived after us, plenty of welcoming pubs, like The White Lion where all 7 of us are now sat drinking whilst I type this review!

Weekend away, Nipped in to use the toilet and decide to stay for lunch. So pleased we did, food and service was outstanding, so nice to have freshly cooked food. Would defo recommend if your visiting Hebden Bridge the food and staff 👌 top notch

Went for lunch. I had chicken pate and it was delicious. My husband had a beef burger and chips. Unfortunately he found it pink inside and couldn't eat it. However they did cook another burger for him.

Superb pub! So glad we decided to end our hike here. Excellent ales, real hand cooked chips, sauce on garlic mushrooms was so delicious...I virtually licked the bowl. Great staff & friendly atmosphere. Outdoor seating by the river. Recommend a visit.

The beer was good and the staff were friendly. Nice outdoor area on the square. I didn't eat but it looked like a good place for food too.

Extremely busy and vibrant pub. Visited for my birthday lunch, and we weren't disappointed! The small fish and chips is delicious and more than enough. My husband had the steak and ale pie, and he also loved it. It took a while for our food to arrive but the pub was extremely busy and it didn't spoil our day. We will definitely revisit.

This used to be a good pub but not any more. Service was slow. Tables had not been clean to a good standard. Food was cold. Asked for a sauce but not available. Others being served that came in after us. The steak pie had been filled with lots of carrot to cut down the meat content. The staff was absent lot of the time. Long wait to be served. Would not now recomend this site will not go here again. Shame as it used to be a good pub but must have changed landlords.

Lovely beers and a busy pub. Staff handled the long queue at the bar perfectly, everyone got served in order and politely. We didn't try the food but the portions looked generous.

Me and my hubby stopped here for lunch today, first time, lovely setting right in the heart of hebden Bridge, we had the cheese and onion pie and it was the tastiest we had ever had, with proper chips too which made it all the better, great portions too. Great place to just sit and have a drink and watch the world go by, would definitely return

The staff in this pub are amazing, cannot do enough for you from the minute you walk in.They are so friendly and genuine we stayed all afternoon.If I could give 6 stars I would.

Central location. Dog friendly. Lovely pub style food. Hot and tasty. Friendly and attentive staff. However, £8.00 for two soda water & lime is a joke. Would have been cheaper to order alcohol. Really enjoyed our meal there but the price of water (soda) would make us look around at other establishments before going back.

We went to the pub yesterday for a family reunion. Waitresses were miserable and rude. Men's toilets were out of service however they didn't turn anyone away. The food was nice but the portions were a joke so this clearly is an issue with the owner and not the kitchen. The chicken milanese was £16 (?) and was nice but it wasn't served with salad, literally a teaspoon worth of rocket, ironically one of the starter servings (macaronni) was much bigger than any of the mains we ordered. Avoid the mozarella, its a tiny flat square with some pesto. Patrons were rather rude too and this rather inebriated new age frik that came to my table asking me -as an immigration officer- if I was Romanian (!?) then went in a rant about the royal family. Honestly worst night in a long time for a hefty price tag. I regret not looking into the reviews prior our visit, seems loads of people are on the same page and the owner just has a tiny fit instead of taking criticism onboard. First time and most certainly last time. Oh, each pint is over £5!

Super busy, so we were very glad to have booked ahead. The menu is gastro pub in style with well cooked pub classics, well presented and piping hot. Dogs welcomed. Very highly recommended

Usually go every 6-8 weeks and have great service good food and pleasant staff. This time staff were uninterested food was not as good and the atmosphere was like the moon. Usually order was taken at table but this time after sitting at table for 10 minutes or so had to get up and order at bar. Even when we left and said thank you to the staff there was no response. With costs going up you would expect a reasonable level of service to keep clientele but obviously not.Time to find a new hostelry

We went for a walk along the canal from Mytholmroyd to Hebden Bridge and called in the Shoulder of Mutton Inn because it is dog friendly. They allowed us to take our GSD into the pub which was fabulous and we ordered food.The food was excellent and my wife had some gluten free food which again was excellent. The staff could not have been better honestly, I would recommend anyone to go here and most definately if you have a dog.

I took my partner for a meal for his birthday Tuesday 13th February 2024 what a lovely place the staff very welcoming,the food was lovely so delicious we had fish and chips.We took our little dog Lexi along with us as this place is dog friendly would strongly recommend very happy with our visit would definitely return.

Had a lovely meal king prawn with tagliatelle never had so many prawns in a dish, very generous portions. Staff very friendly.

Over priced and poor food. Owners need to check their values and the way they treat their staff. Witnessed extremely underhanded practices. Shame on you !! Avoid a lot better establishments

A great pub in a pleasant location. There is a good selection of great tasting food and a wide selection of drinks as well. There is plenty of seating inside and outside and this is a great place to spend an afternoon.

Just your straight up standard pub. You can watch football here too which was good. Drinks and food were pretty average. Service was excellent from friendly staff.
