Shoulder of Mutton in Calderdale

I took my partner for a meal for his birthday Tuesday 13th February 2024 what a lovely place the staff very welcoming,the food was lovely so delicious we had fish and chips.We took our little dog Lexi along with us as this place is dog friendly would strongly recommend very happy with our visit would definitely return.

Great food, in traditional pub surroundings.

On holiday in the UK from Canada. Was there twice, once with a group, and once alone. Great food, good beer, and always made to feel welcome.

Lovely country pub and dog friendly which was great, I had food and it was of the highest quality, would highly recommend and will i will be a repeat customer.

Overpriced small portions long wait for food avoid

Had a really nice small steak pie, chips, mushy peas and Gravy, delicious and more than enough, pastry was so light.

Food was lovely. It was really busy and to wait for the food. Was told we had to go up to the bar for drinks. No table serves.

After a fab walk on Boxing Day, and with time to kill before catching the bus, we were very happy to find a pub that was open and could offer chips, hot drinks and a good pint. Thanks!

Had a lovely meal king prawn with tagliatelle never had so many prawns in a dish, very generous portions. Staff very friendly.

A great pub in a pleasant location. There is a good selection of great tasting food and a wide selection of drinks as well. There is plenty of seating inside and outside and this is a great place to spend an afternoon.

Over priced and poor food. Owners need to check their values and the way they treat their staff. Witnessed extremely underhanded practices. Shame on you !! Avoid a lot better establishments

Nice spot in the centre of Hebden Bridge. Good outdoor seating to watch the world go round whilst having a beer or two. Nice inside, good friendly staff. Nice selection of drinks to be had. Didn't try the food.

Just your straight up standard pub. You can watch football here too which was good. Drinks and food were pretty average. Service was excellent from friendly staff.

02/10/23: Team day out to Hebden. 01/05/23: amazing food. Really enjoyed it. Great service. I had the steak & kidney pie, wedges, peas, but had to get extra gravy! Great craft ale selection! Dog friendly.

First time visit. Seems a nice pub with pleasant staff. Just had a drink.

Only had one drink staff were very nice, had an enjoyable sit in the sun.

A lovely warm venue with great service & surroundings

We had the small Fish & Chips for lunch. Absolutely delicious. The batter was like a Tempura crispy coating & much nicer. My friend is Coeliac, & it's easy to choose from Menu as it's all marked on every dish.

We booked a table for 11 and had a very Bad time and waiting for food even though we had pre booked, it was very busy and hard to hear, and they were short on cutely the waitress, end up in tears, and could not cope two young to take a brinks order so up and down we went very bis appointment all round

A wonderful old pub/restaurant in the centre of Hebden Bridge. Inside it has a cosy feel withlog burner evedent ( for the winter). Also has outside seating on the edge of the Market Place, for people watching. We all enjoyed our, perfectly cooked, meals.

Nice enough. Only had a beer a rather nice pint of Vocation. Excellent location over looking the square for a bit of people watching.

Not one for reviews but todays experiance deserves it. Me and my friend met up here with our babys,starting with the staff nothing too much trouble made our afternoon feel at home in there pub. And the food was great , thank you for a brilliant service from you all

Nice pub small inside more geared for drinking & eating outside

We was sat outside here till a big thunder storm happened we rushed inside and ended up having the best roast chicken dinner it was delicious.

Had a decent pint and a lovely steak sandwich. Great staff.

Have been passed so many times and occasionally had the one drink. Well today we ventured in for food and was not disappointed. Just divine, delicious and delightful Sunday lunch had. Fab service and a definite return is in order.

Quite a cosy place with some outside seating. Small bar can get overrun but the staff were very good dealing with it. Seating can be limited if raining. Very popular at wekeends

Overpriced. Didn't even know what a bitter was so I ended up with some rank tasting slop with essences of friggin lavender.

Gorgeous vegan burger with fries and vegan coleslaw 😋 Was incredibly busy, probably due to the lovely weather, but still served drinks and food quickly. Dogs are welcome too 👍

We booken advance to go today at 12.30, 8 people we were seated at 12.20, we had to ask were the food was at 13.30, there were no sauces or condiments offered, the beef was inedible, no cauli cheese, no horseradish sauce, service was poor at best with attitude, worst resteraunt I have been in ages

Sitting outside in the sun having been served by attentive staff, and watching the world go by whilst listening to someone singing and strumming in the Square.

The worst food I have ever been served after waiting Nearly 1 hour. and the third Person in the group ordered a hot roast Beef sandwich was forgotten about completely and when prompted it came wrong Never again

Great pub. Food looked good, but didn't have time to stay and try some.

Food was really good. Came for Sunday dinner, and the roasts were great. Good meat, pork and beef were both had at our table, and both were very tasty, with a really good portion and range of veg. Service was very, very slow though. Felt like they'd bitten off more than they could chew food serving wise. Our booking was at 2pm and we didn't get our mains until 15:30, and there was only one soup starter ordered. We'd have probably gone for dessert (multi course meals were good value) but we just didn't have time in the end. If you've got bags of time, worth a booking, as the food was good. But on any sort of schedule, maybe not, although ours was on a busy bank holiday weekend, so wouldn't completely discount it.

Great food with excellent service. And this is why. Went there a few days ago, when food arrived, mine wasn't cooked through. Pointed it out. Response was perfect, kindly replaced meal, no fuss, very apologetic. We all make mistakes sometimes, it happens. It's how you respond that counts and the staff here were wonderful. Thank you for a delicious meal and beautiful evening.

It was very busy as it was the grand national, staff served fast which was great. The atmosphere was great too. Had food here before and it's was gorgeous hot roast beef, with real chips. Will return again soon to see it it's consistent.

This is a busy place in a lovely town. We were lucky to get a table for four people but saw a few other groups struggling to find space. The menu is very varied, with everything from pasta to curries and pies. The food was reasonably priced and very tasty.

Was on holiday in Haworth and travelled into Hebdon Bridge for lunch and was not disappointed have been before a few years earlier great food and even better staff

Having a wander around Hebden and decided on lunch here. Been several times before and staff always warm and inviting. Don't often see steak and kidney pud on the menu, but you can get it here. A bit of a wait before said pudding arrived, but that's to be expected as they don't use the microwave on them. As before, it was really good.

We booked for lunch on Thursday unfortunately my hubby didn't feel well suddenly . While he went outside to get air he passed out falling to ground hitting his head. I cant not say enough good things about the staff there they were absolutely amazing and could not do enough for us . We thank you you so much from the bottom of our hearts a massive thank you . I did not get the lady name who phone for an ambulance if you know her please thank her so much for us x

Decent boozer. 4 cask ales as well as all the standard lagers. Service at the bar a little slow (it was busy) but staff extremely friendly and helpful. Good range of seating inside and out. Outside there are oversized picnic benches - perfect when the sun's out - you can people watch and listen to the busker in the square. Had some food - good quality at a reasonable price. Would recommend.

Excellent food with a great gluten free selection

Booked for a Sunday lunch @2pm, had a lovely drive out and a walk along the canal ,arrived hungry and was seated at 2pm , had a nice drink , at 2.45 enquired about our order to be told it'll be another 15 mins. A whole effin hour from order to serve what a disgrace ,last time we dine in this establishment ,left after an hour as no food had arrived .Had a lovely fire cooked pizza along the street instead .

Day out to the village. Staff were polite and pleasant. Downside one table was very noisy and nothing was said. And too many dogs in pubs and cafes.

I thought this was going to be a fab pub. But no. Service was very slow. Food was not great at all. The place was full of smoke from the fireplace & when I got home my clothes & hair stank of smoke.

Very disappointed in the food service. Waited over an hour for our order and every single order was incorrect. It was seven of us to be fair but the pub was not busy at this time and most of us ordered the same thing! I didn’t enjoy the stake & ale pie nor was the selection of draught beer anything to write home about.

My wife and I just had two amazing meals here. Can't recommend the Haddock Mornay highly enough. The Mince Burger on the other hand......well.....maybe the best, tastiest burger I've ever had. One of my all time top ten meals ever. Red Onion Coleslaw was a strike of genius. We both had the same meals last week and weren't prepared to wait our usual six months before eating here again! Best pub grub around. Compliments to the chef. And the great staff too!

Food was awful. I found a hair in my chips and my partners burger was completely wrong and when changed they had just scraped it all off leaving the sauce that she didn’t like still on the burger. Wish we hadn’t pre payed but we had so we just got up and left. Definitely not going back here.

Was a quiet day so we had the pub to ourselves virtually, the staff were cordial as was the meal we had, however this a completey different place at the weekend, too noisy and hard to get in never mind find a table but I would still recommend it for the food

Cosy pub with comforting, homemade food - perfect for after a wintry walk in Hebden! The staff were lovely and accommodating - will come again!

Looking forward to trying this place out and I was glad to get a table on a Sunday and was okay with a half hour wait for walk-ins. Unfortunately it was a terrible experience and I won’t be returning. It was busy given it was a Sunday, so I can understand some delays. We ordered after 10 mins there which was fine, then we waited, and waited, and waited. I was looking around getting a sense of other tables and could see a few people annoyed with the wait for their food, or waiting to order. I was watching as food was arriving to different tables and figured ours wouldn’t be much longer. 45 mins later and the waiter came to the table apologising that she never put our order through. I was most surprised because we were in view of the waiters and kitchen and the waiters looked at us a few times during this 45 min wait. I was told they could take my order and put it through quick but I had a newborn with me and couldn’t wait much longer so left. We were an hour in total at our table and nothing to show for it.

Very friendly and very clean , would recommend it to everyone.

Me and the service user I was supporting visiting Hebden Bridge from Halifax. Great atmosphere and amazing, polite staff. The food was amazing we both loved it! Will definitely be back and will recommend to anyone ☺️

What a lovely experience we had here today. The staff were so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble, rearranging tables to make sure mum was warm by the fire, even gave her a blanket too ( it's not that it's cold but mum is 91). All of the food we had was really delicious. A dank grey afternoon turned into a lovely warm welcoming one. Amazing staff. Thank you so much.

Visited Hebden Bridge for the first time last weekend and stumbled across the Shoulder of Mutton Inn. The food was incredible, genuinely one of the best roasts that I've ever had. The service was also great. Thanks, guys, we'll be back.
