From good experience to awful. Came to play snooker for 2 hours, car park has signage stating "parking for customers only" to which was great as I was here to play snooker. 2 weeks later I get a fine through the door for £100.00... typically money making scheme out of those who are going to enjoy the snooker club. Appealed more than once with the contact details given on here and had nothing back. Wont be returning...

This was my local pub. Spent time here with my family as a young man from discussing my university choices with my mother to catching up with my grandmother. Wrote parts of my thesis here. The food was affordable but good, the atmosphere relaxed. This was a sit down and eat pub where you could linger after your meal or come in late with a laptop to work over drinks. Quiet cosy and friendly. It was also filed with books and photographs steeped in local history. But after the pandemic the owners sacked the chef and sold the kitchen and fewer and fewer people came. It wasn't financially viable as a wet pub in an area where many came to eat and quite a few are tea total. Only time will tell what happens next but the owners have shown no sign of reopening.

Slightly disappointed to arrive on a lovely Saturday afternoon at 3.00pm to find the doors locked and nobody around. The opening times are too varied and not clear enough.

This place is beautiful except for the location of our table which was in a corner where it was a little bit nippy, I don’t think you can actually feel the coziness you can see in the rest of the pub.. anyway food was amazing so it compensates. I wanted to use a voucher I received on my email after booking for that day and the cashier told me it wasn’t ‘valid’ because sometimes ‘takes longer’ to activate whatever that means.. if you receive a voucher in your email you should be able to use it, end of the story :). I insisted twice but she was really not bothered in helping… that little detail felt a bit ‘scamy’. I would still give it another chance I think.

popped to The Brown Cow on way home from a long lovely hike! it was very busy but we got a little table and the dog was welcome in! the staff was nice and helpful! the food was really nice and warm, I had half of each so I would definitely recommend the steak pie for a pub grub it was soo lovely! the fish and chips was also great, fresh and delicious! pint was good too! We went to eat in at around 4pm. We were sat there for a few minutes before being acknowledged whilst the girls gossiped. Two other customers came in and our orders were taken and apologised because they had been busy so we would need to wait a while. A couple of takeaway customers came in. The woman behind the counter was whining about how busy they had been. After another 15 minutes she presents us with scrappy chips and burnt fish that had been sat there the whole time we had being there. We were supposed to get bread and butter but didn’t ask as the woman sounded like she might burst a blood vessel if she had to do some work. I won’t be going again worst fish n chips I’ve ever had!!

Amazing experience from the moment we walked in. Late, tired and no booking. The staff including Lisa managed to find us a Table even though they were sooo busy squeezed us in and moved things around so we didn’t have to rush and vacate our table. Lisa was amazing great service, kind, attentive, and everything spot on. Good advice and the food was amazing. Thank you Lisa for making our evening special after a tough day. Jo & Steve. 👌🤗

Waited for an hour for three breakfasts, absolutely chaotic even though it was not too busy. By the time the food arrived the waitress (who was very nice) apologised and offered complimentary drinks. A few minutes later she returned to say the manager told her that she could not give us free tea / coffee. The whole experience at Asa is at best poor, food has taken a nose dive, and as for the management please don’t get me started. Used to be a regular treat but not anymore. Plus very poor hygiene in the bakery, no hairnets, eating and drinking in a food prep area, needs a full overhaul. As someone who works in the food industry at BRC level it was shocking to witness.
