A lovely meal and a very nice place to eat. Served both food and drinks in good time. Very welcoming and kind staff, we were served by Nicola.

Fabulous Sunday Roast and vegetarian burger . Finished with a small desert and an Irish coffee . Ambience is always very warm and friendly, with fabulous views over the Airedale valley . Perfect end to the day after completing the Yorkshireman Marathon

Returned after a few months and was greatly surprised. The quality has really improved and we will certainly return sooner. Steak and Ale pie and gammon recommended. Staff were friendly and welcoming too.

Called in by chance to enjoy my sons birthday and had a really enjoyable meal. The day was wonderfully enhanced by Nicola who saw to our every need with a lovely smile and welcome. We all thoroughly enjoyed everything that we ordered and felt as though there was no rush whatsoever. It's a great place to socialise and eat and we will definitely call again. Many thanks Nicola.

Visited with the family including our dog, who was made very welcome! The food and service was absolutely perfect, my teenage kids couldn't find a thing to complain about..which is saying something! Wish we lived more local and could visit more frequently.

Had such a great meal and service last night. We arrived early to eat before the quiz. . Nicola our server was amazing and showed us to our table. She was cheerful and so helpful and quickly brought our meals. The lasagne was delicious and my husband had the steak and ale pie which he also enjoyed. Friends joined us for the quiz and Nicola continued to deliver all our drinks to the table for the rest of the night! The quiz mistress was also superb. Great quiz night thoroughly enjoyed by all. Meal with friends on a Monday evening. Friendly welcome and a warm atmosphere despite it being a Monday evening. Food was rated good or excellent by us all. The service was friendly and efficient and a concern about a second pint of beer possibly not being what was ordered was handled very well. The waitress who served us was first class. We have visited this pub on a few occasions and have always rated it highly.

Service was absolutely fine, but the food was comfortably some of the worst we’ve had. Fries were cold and dry (beyond crispy), salad leaves were brown and had wilted, and the Mac & Cheese was covered in flour and cold in the middle. Don’t eat here!

Amazing lunch today! Food quality was of a very high standard, but HUGE portions so was unable to finish, but my god it was good! Nicola, our server, was a very cheerful and tentative, showing interest in us and no requests seemed to be an issue! Our table was nice and tucked away, giving us a proper little couples lunch, which we loved.... And it was dog friendly, so Cooper had a good day out and was supplied free snacks and water! Happy dog, happy house! All round, 5 out of 5! We will be dining there again and highly recommend!

Called in for an evening meal , the food was really nice and was piping hot , the waitress was lovely , nice atmosphere, couldn’t fault anything, been a few times now and the bar staff and waitresses are always really kind and welcoming, so slightly confused when I see reviews saying different , suppose you can’t please everyone, but I will definitely be back :)

A lot better than it was last time I visited 3 years ago. Food nice and atmosphere nice. Service was good also. Poor selection of real ales....for an IPA I was offered an Americal Pale Ale..... nothing like an IPA. Overall very good....but get some decent beers in.... Timothy Taylors wasn't on.

The young lady who served was excellent and very pleasant, our only complaint Was that the chips were cold, this was rectified immediately for one of our party. The others did not complain. .

Nice surrounding but food was really poor. Vegetables had been left out overnight so they were dry and cracked. They think this is acceptable when serving for children. Food was served cold and my husband had fish and chips was sick all evening. Once this place was very nice but our food was comparative with a low end weatherpoons. Will not be returning. We paid £70 for lunch for 2 adults and 2 children. Just mains and 1 drink each. If we paid 70p it wasn't worth it.

Best Sunday lunch ever! The food was amazing, we both had the roast trio which was so yummy, topped with cracking which was devine- so well cooked. The service we received from all the staff was brilliant, very friendly and we felt welcome. We will definitely return! Thank you.

Went here for Father's day. 6 of us Sunday lunches all went back as they were cold and when we complained was asked if we wanted it warming? Everyone in the party except 1 person sent most of there meals back due to cold food. Other tables had also sent back full plates of food? Staff were friendly and the manager apologised and knocked some of the meals off and a round of drinks. The toilets also were in need of a good clean too. We used to come here years ago and it never disappointed. We definitely will not be back

Visited on a Wednesday evening, not overly busy but a good few people in. Food was good and treated ourselves to dessert. 2 of our party are Coeliacs and we were given separate menu which showed items available, there was a good choice apart from showing fish & chips but the pointing out that fish was fried in same fryer as other food so couldn’t guarantee cross contamination, good to be advised. Jess was our main server of the day, very knowledgeable and friendly, made us feel very welcome.

My wife had the Sea bass which she said was lovely, really nice, I went for the Mac & Cheese. This was OK although portion size quite small and the additional beef brisket, barely a spoonful. Accompanying salad lovely and fresh. All in all if I went again I'd be having the Sea Bass. Staff very pleasant and helpful, and quite busy for a Tuesday evening. Grass outside desperately in need of a cut!, first impressions count!

Fantastic evening! Our waitress, Jess, was particularly helpful. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and even highlighted which options were gluten free for me! Really chatty and prompt service. I'll definitely be back!

Update.. 2024. Visited on various occasions and the food is really good with a new staff structure. Loving the vintage app which gives incentives and discounts on food. Been in various occasions and food is really good.. fish and chips (haddock not cod) being one. Will start by being positive and saying that staff were very polite and lovely, food & drink was very good but just let down by lack of communication. Now on to the unfortunate issues, for our family Christmas Day meal. Arrived at 12noon and finished at 3pm. Main course was served 30mins later than everyone else around us and this was only after we mentioned it to a staff member. We then had to wait for our deserts when all the other guests eating around us were leaving. It was obvious that they had missed us as the deserts were rushed out within 5mins of highlighting this to a staff member.

Went on Sunday, the best meal out of our party was the trio Sunday lunch, the chicken pie looked impressive BUT only 4 pieces of chicken in the pie!! ??? The sea bass was over cooked, the childrens food pasta was ok but the accompanying raw carrots were dry, hard, not peeled and looked like they had been sat on a plate all day!! Both starters were nice. When I mentioned to the waiter the state of the carrots all he said was “ok I’ll mention it”. Coffee ordered but they forgot and had to mention again after 10 mins, £2.75 each for a children’s small ice lolly??!!! Would I go again? Probably not as so many other good pubs nearby

The actual setting and appointment of pub is great and an initial cheery welcome. However, appeared to be a complete lack of leadership front of house. Quite content to wait for freshly cooked although on arrival the quality and portions of all meals was found wanting. We will not be returning.

Food pretty mediocre. We had steak pie and after digging into the inflated crust found very little dry meat. Not a great choice on the menu. Sorry won't rush back. Bar service slow not enough staff.

Usually a great experience but the last few times I've had the nourish bowl it's been poor, no dressing or no couscous, basically just a bowl of salad leaves. Also we were seated by the disabled toilet which had non stop traffic all evening.

Thus used to be a lovely place to eat and so myself and my husband decided to call in for Sunday dinner. We were half heartedly pointed in the direction of the bar area. That's fine, I appreciate that the restaurant was full. I didn't expect that because of the seats we occupied it would mean we would receive sub standard service. Not one member of the front of house staff engaged with us. The chap who brought the food, also brought sauces, cutlery, salt and pepper....all after having to ask for each thing. The staff at the bar area were disinterested and dismissive when I raised my issues. There seemed no point to continue my dissatisfaction at the clap cold plates, luke warm food, tough meat, and rubbery potatoes. I very rarely complain, however, I was very disappointed. Unfortunately this means we will not be returning. The previous week we went elsewhere and the meals were less expensive and the service impeccable and yes we were in the bar area!!!

Staff lovely; very helpful, knowledgable and pleasant. Toilets smelled unpleasant and weren’t clean, which was off putting. We were there in the afternoon; by evening they would have been grim. Food was average: lamb rump was enjoyed. Pies were as expected for a pub: stew in a pot with a puff pastry top. For the price (and the reputation of the venue) it was disappointing that lamb, steak and ale pie, chicken and chorizo pie and steak sandwich were all served with the same brown non-specific gravy. Surprise winner for the table was the steak sandwich which was nice. Don’t choose the fish cakes unless you really like Panko and new potatoes. Certainly neither the fish nor the spinach and broccoli had much flavour or warmth to recommend them. One good meal, several perfectly fine but unremarkable meals, one disappointing one. But the staff are lovely.

Lovely lunch at Dick Hudsons today for my dads 86th birthday. There was 5 of us and we all really enjoyed the food. My dad particularly enjoyed the seabass and prawn dish. Great idea to have the mini desserts and coffee, they were fab. My daughter has a nut allergy (and milk at the moment whilst she breastfeeds my grandson) and this is very set up for anyone with an allergy. She even had the dessert - made with vegan custard and an oat milk latte. Our waitress April really looked after us and made it a special birthday lunch thanks. Will definitely be returning.

Nice traditional Yorks pub/restaurant albeit belonging to a chain. Good food, beer, views, walks. Last nights Vegan meal however was perhaps the worst my partner ever had. After feedback to the staff only silence from kitchen and management.

Excellent Sunday lunch. All three of us had a Sunday joint- 2 beef one turkey. The meat was so tender it just fell apart when you cut it. Lovely well cooked potatoes and veg. The waitress Jess was excellent throughout the meal. She was prompt and attentive throughout. Thank you so much for a lovely afternoon out. We went home feeling very full.

Fabulous food, we had Seabass crispy skin, lovely sauce and the chicken curry, beautiful sauce. Cocktail recommendation instead of a dessert which was also great! All the staff were lovely and welcoming! And we will definitely be dining there again! Especially in the summer, the garden looks beautiful, just need the weather

Very disappointed with the food. I had macaroni cheese which was dry and crusty around the edges. To-be fair is wasn't charged but I had looked forward to it. Others in my party had cold vegetables and one was charged for a pint of cider when he had a half! The staff were fine and helpful. The children's meals were really good. Not in a hurry to visit again tho.

Lovely food and staff. We had the pie, but swapped the mash for chips. It was a steak pie and it was lovely! Didn't get a good pic as I delved straight in haha! We then had the hot drink and mini pudding for after, went for the crumble and it was delicious! Plenty of parking and a lovely setting with great views. Always visit when in the area. If you've never been it is worth downloading the app as at the moment they are doing a welcome offer where you get £20 off a £40 spend... Just make sure you download the app and download the voucher 24 hours before visiting!

Beautiful pub/restaurant with a lovely setting. The place was busy and we managed to get a table in the bar. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. We really enjoyed our chorizo and whitebate starter and the stone baked pizza was amazing! My partner is a coffee connoisseur and he said the coffee beats Starbucks! A great late lunch on Easter Monday. Fantastic service from Nicola and the food quality was amazing. We had calamari and mushroom starters, lamb and the pork special for main and finished with a lovely Eton Mess dessert. Highly recommend.

Turkey Sunday roast was v poor. Carrots and parsnips inedible, soft and rubbery. Roast potatoes were wildly overdone. One was actually burned through. Bit into several to find very crunchy exterior and the interior was almost non existent. The whole meal was lukewarm. Sat near a fire door, my 2 year old in a high chair directly opposite it, a couple of feet away. A member of staff went out of it and it slammed so hard we all jumped, my 2 year old was scared, the cold wind that blew in was very uncomfortable and everyone seated nearby we all just looked at one another in surprise.

Called in for lunch. Lovely staff and surroundings. Staff helped with the gluten free food choices and were very attentative while we were there, but not in your face. Very relaxed meal, reasonable prices, lovely place & great staff. Thankyou 😁👍
