Dick Hudson's in Bradford

This place is beautiful except for the location of our table which was in a corner where it was a little bit nippy, I don’t think you can actually feel the coziness you can see in the rest of the pub.. anyway food was amazing so it compensates. I wanted to use a voucher I received on my email after booking for that day and the cashier told me it wasn’t ‘valid’ because sometimes ‘takes longer’ to activate whatever that means.. if you receive a voucher in your email you should be able to use it, end of the story :). I insisted twice but she was really not bothered in helping… that little detail felt a bit ‘scamy’. I would still give it another chance I think.

Im only marking down on atmosphere because of the many screaming kids. I dont think kids and pubs should mix. Even at sunday lunch

Absolutely great place, nice warm atmosphere, and for how many other people you get visiting, it's really quiet inside. The servers are all really nice as well, Nicola served us and she always had a great smile and welcoming personality. All the hills and valleys look gorgeous as well, and you can look out the windows for a great view. Would really reccomend for passers-by, even if it's just for a drink and a chat.

April welcomed us like old friends, she was absolutely on it and gave 100%. Absolute credit to your pub, thank you

Had sunday lunch today, nice atmosphere but very poor meal, the Roasted vegetable wellington was very dry and appeared to have been kept warm for sometime, roast potatoes were inedible.

I’ve never been to this place but always wanted to try it. I met up with a friend and have to say the food was lovely. The service was good too considering how busy they were (it was a Friday night). We had the pie of the day (chicken) and steak, both were cooked lovely. For dessert we had the chocolate bomb and vanilla cheesecake, again, which were both really nice. Easy to park, easy to get to and kid friendly so a nice place all round. They do all sorts of dishes from steaks, to burgers, pizzas, pies and fish. I’ve also heard their Sunday lunches are legendary Thanks guys

Came with another couple, catch up over Lunch. Booked table by the windows, lovely views. Rib Eye Steak meals x 3 plus 1 x Hunters Chicken. Served by April who was on the ball and cheerful. Food came, med rare steaks, one more medium and grisley. We all found them chewy and tasteless. Not good quality beef as expected. Asked for a doggy bag and took half home for our dogs. Was a 40% off on Mains offer which we used. Will never order steak again here. Shame.

Had a lovely roast dinner today with the family. All of our potions were very generous leaving us all satisfyingly full. Everything was cooked perfectly especially the Lamb and was served lovely and hot. Jess our waitress was fabulous and topped off our 5* experience.

We had two sunday dinners and a chicken burger which were superb. Very delicious! We had April looking after us this evening and she was terrific! She was very polite and happy to be at work which was lovely to see.

The place is nice and cosy , a proper traditional pub with stunning views. We had the lunch special and it was a bit basic

My partner, myself and our little pooch stopped in for a meal this evening. We were greeted by Nicola who showed us to our table which was right next to the open fire. The food was served promptly and was delicious. Nicola was fantastic!, very friendly and polite and nothing was too much trouble for her! We will definitely be returning!

Lovely setting, staff where really nice and friendly main corse was very tasty. The starters not so good I'm afraid mine was over cooked and tasteless and my partners was pretty much the same, we did pick the expensive starters so expected a bit more. But over all was very happy and will definitely go back 🙂

Great food and great service - love this place

I revisited today after a previous visit on Monday 20th January . I chose to dine in rather than just have just a drink. The staff were friendly and helpful my drink (passion fruit cooler) was experly made by the bar lady and tasted amazing. On to the meal, the garlic mushroom starter was delicious, i thoroughly enjoyed every bite. Then came the main course, the rib eye steak with gravy, grilled tomatoes, chips and onion ring. Each bite was delightful, perfectly season and cooked to perfection. Finally there was the double chocolate brownie, topped with ice cream and chocolate sauce. It was like a miniature work of art, decadently delicious with every bite. Its safe to say that my visit was a resounding success and i'd rate the food and drink as a 10 out of 10. I will definitely visit again in the future.

Jess was AMAZING! We booked a meal for 3 adults and children. Jess interacted so well with the children and ensured that our stay was great. The food was delicious-can highly recommend the lamb henry

NOT good👎. Unbelievably the food was cold and I mean cold. Gravy boat cold Guests food cold. Sent back and it still was cold. Really not happy! Basics food must be hot. Carrots cold to the touch along with all of the food on the plate‼️. Even the plate was cold. How the hell can this happen??

Ordered Trio Sunday lunch which came straight after my starter. Unfortunately all of the food was cold. Which it felt like the food was out on a cold plate for some time. Not very good at all, as £19 for this main course is expensive. Re-warmed in microwave which didn't make much difference. Wouldn't recommend.

One of the meals fishcakes new potatoes and broccoli was very small so they were still hungry after. The chicken pie meals great

Arrived to a quiet restaurant only to be ignored by 2 staff whilst waiting to be seated. After getting menus we were eventually asked for our drinks order but told the kids couldn't have mocktails as the pub chain have a policy of not encouraging underage drinking (or some such nonsense). It was just mixed fruit juices and lemonade so we all thought that was ridiculous and my 11 yr olds were gutted. They love the fruit decorations on mocktails and have no interest in alcohol. My parental responsibility clearly got no say in the matter. Anyway my daughter then ordered an appletiser instead and it came in a crystal whisky glass of all things! Then when ordering food we were told there was no fish and chips left and no rib eye steak (and later only certain puddings available). 3 out of 6 of our party had to change their orders. Surely over the Christmas period when most people have already booked tables in advance a pub should have plenty of food. I'd booked 2 weeks previously as a treat for my parents so I was disappointed they couldn't order what they wanted. The food was hit and miss but the service was noticeably slow especially as there was hardly anyone there before 8pm. We spent 2.5hrs at table and our kids were falling asleep at the end and my parents had their coats on before we paid as we'd not intended to be so long and the waiting for things had definitely started to grate. The waitress was pleasant in a patronising way but not amenable and didn't listen to us. We complained about the prawn cocktail starters being too spicy and hot and she made a comment about her Grandmother's food and asked if we wanted another drink. Not exactly addressing our complaint! There was way too much hot paprika/chilli powder- two of us had numb mouths. Maybe if the restaurant staff hadn't been so indifferent to us I wouldn't be writing this bad review but the whole experience was disappointing and I doubt we'll return. I don't care how busy you were earlier in the day we expected a decent standard of service not to have to make do. Definitely a downer on our Christmas festivities!

Excellent Friendly Service, with Tentative Staff, and Delicious Sunday Roast. There are also Dining and Dog Friendly areas which are separate to suit everyone.. This is one of the Best Sunday Roast Dinners that I've had in a long time, and will definitely visit again. If you like Good Food and Good friendly service, look no further than the Dick Hudson Restaurant. Well Worth a Visit.

Had a lovely afternoon Boxing Day meal with family food was delicious as always service 10 out of 10 lovely Sammy was excellent and was there to provide what ever we needed thanks to you all bar staff waiters waitresses and chefs !!

3 wonderful courses I ordered ribeye steak and to my surprise it was amazing…..at last a chef that can cook a steak. By the way starters and puds were perfect

I regularly visit the restaurant at lunchtime and overall everything is good. Visited last night with my husband. We had booked a table but had to wait a while before any member of staff acknowledged us. We were shown to our table which was up the steps towards the back of the restaurant. The room was cold. We were served by a pleasant girl who took our drinks order. We didn’t wait long for our drinks. I ordered the sea bass which I have had several times before. Although the menu states the sea bass is in a white wine and king prawn sauce there were no prawns in my sauce. The meal was only lukewarm warm. My husband ordered the pie and his vegetables were cold. As we were disappointed and cold we decided not to order a sweet. At no stage while we were eating were we asked if our meal was ok. I think we should have complained at the time but do not like to be seen to make a fuss when other people are in the restaurant. Very disappointed with our visit to the restaurant.

I’ve been going to this place for the last 20 years and never had a bad meal until last night which was the 10th December 2024 there was 30% off main meals and it was my girlfriend’s birthday so was looking forward too ending the day on a high.I get the same main every time because it’s so lovely the hunters chicken schnitzel.i love it because it’s chicken with a light batter coating topped with bacon and barbecue sauce.but unfortunately not this time as the chicken was tasteless and was undercooked and greasy so I left nearly half of it.The waitress serving on was really nice and looked after us but when I brought it too her attention there was no apology and got told that it was the batter that was greasy not the chicken because the is precooked then cooked in batter i let my partner have some and she said it didn’t taste right and advised me not to eat anymore.i wasn’t looking for a free meal or a discount out of it but was bitterly disappointed that even with the 30% discount the bill was still £52 and would have gladly paid the full amount to be 100% satisfied with everything and if I go in again I’ll try somthing different hopefully this is a one off 👍

Food wasn’t as good as it has been perhaps because of the additional festive menu roasties rock hard and veg mushed Have been before and was impressed hence returning but on this visit alone wouldn’t go again

We were staying nearby and came for a snack. Had to book a table as it was a busy Sunday. Had a lovely soup there. It's very dog friendly and a nice atmosphere. It waa nice and warm especially as it was on one of the storm days

A top place to have a proper traditional pub meal

Really lovely pub . Staff were so good with our puppy . Who single handedly trashed the area we were sitting. They were so laid back , gave us paper towels to clean up a few accidents. We will be coming back.

Our first time back in many years, things have changed, extended and updated, smarter, nice and bright with roaring log fires. We were very comfortable and enjoyed our lunch very much. Fixed price 2 or 3 course menu available as well as 'A la carte' Price for 2 course was just under £17 and a good deal. I opted for Winter veg soup (very enjoyable) with a hint of spice, followed by the 8oz Gammon steak, chips and eggs. My wife had Calamari and Lasagne, which , she said was more enjoyable than one on a recent visit to an 'authentic' italian chain restaurant. A pint of Wainwright's for me and a Pinot Blush for my good lady. All very enjoyable. Best view from a toilet I've ever seen by the way! 🤭

The food is amazing and the staff are so friendly and kind. I stupidly forgot to bring a wheelchair for my friend one evening, and the lady staff member helped us walk from the car inside the pub. Im so grateful for her help. They go above and beyond! Thank you. And the food and service were brilliant as always.

The pub interior and exterior was very welcoming. The food was excellent. I had the sea bass and my Mum had the vegetable penang curry. I thought that the sea bass dish could have had a bit more potatoes and veg but otherwise it was very tasty. Jess provided outstanding service and was very friendly. When we wanted our puddings and coffees brought together Jess did this and even added a small flapjack with the coffee as my Mum likes. We enjoyed the meal very much and will be back.

Called late one evening after a day out with my daughter without a booking to try and get a table. The place was busy but we managed to be seated. Food was excellent and the service was great. Sarah, our waitress was very attentive and very sweet with my little girl. It's not the first time we have been and it won't be the last, it's always good

I visit Bingley to see family a couple times a year. Always visit this pub as previously it has been a fantastic experience. Unfortunately, this was not the case this time. Had the trio of roasts and 2 x chicken burgers, on a Sunday. Service was great, the food left a lot to be desired. The burgers were edible but overpriced. The roasts, well, the pork was a about the size of a match box, there was a small piece of crackle that had been cooked separately, the turkey was the best of the three, the beef, a single slice that appeared to have been boiled. The two reheated duck fat potatoes weren't too bad. The roast carrot and parsnip were charred black on the bottom. The boiled cabbage was less than appetizing. The best part was the gravy. For close to 20 quid, the roasts were well below par. A very expensive and unsatisfying meal overall.

Excellent in all areas - helped make an impromptu wedding celebration a more memorable occasion. Our Italian guests were suitably impressed. Atmosphere/personal friendly efficient professional service from Nicola and the girl behind the bar (sorry didn't get her name) food and drink- all Excellent. Thank you.

Excellent Sunday lunch. All three of us had a Sunday joint- 2 beef one turkey. The meat was so tender it just fell apart when you cut it. Lovely well cooked potatoes and veg. The waitress Jess was excellent throughout the meal. She was prompt and attentive throughout. Thank you so much for a lovely afternoon out. We went home feeling very full.

I spent some quality time with my Brother. It was busy but the food was good not outstanding. The sweet was lovely better than the main. The waitress was a bit sharp but the manager was welcoming. The things which let this place down. The windows were filthy and the carpark was not fit for purpose. I had to park at the back in a gravel pit. No bays please invest in your infrastructure more. I am sure you are making enough money. It needs to be levelled off. Keep up the good work on the food but start looking at the bigger picture. Good 🤞.

Visited with my brother for the set menu lunch for around £16 so about £20 a head with a drink. Gammon was great with runny egg. Slight change I asked for due to my chrons disease. Sticky toffee pudding was good, not as sticky toffee as I would have liked. Everything was beautifully presented. The server was slightly off, not rude as such, but not as welcoming as the other staff. something was a miss, which slightly impaired our visit. Also, as a side note,windows were dirty on the outsid, too much on the rustic side,just attention to detail was a bit missing. I'm being fair in my review as the gammon was excellent and for the price point all in all food was good. Being a destination pub though thoose little things were just off the mark. We left a tip too as one person, the manager, I think, just welcomed us in and said goodbye on our departure. I took a Christmas menu as the atmosphere is lovely in there. I only live 15 minutes drive away and would like to invite family to eat there over that period. All in all good slight improvements and the full 5 stars would be given.

Roast dinner is a good plateful so you may not need a starter. The mini pudding and a hot drink is a good option at the end off a meal though if you don't feel able to tackle a whole pudding.

We came here as a family on a beautiful sunny day and we were not disappointed! The view was absolutely amazing from this pub and the food and drinks were equally as nice! Great place to come for a family meal and a bonus if you get to sit outside for a drink on a sunny day. For starters we shared the scotch egg, halloumi fries and chorizo sausage bites, they were all delicious washed down with my cocktail sat in the beer garden. For mains we both ordered the pan roasted lamb which was absolutely delicious and being a big lamb lover, I would find it hard to return and not order this again!! Our son ordered chicken nuggets and chips, surprise surprise, which he enjoyed. For dessert I had the sticky toffee pudding which is ALWAYS a winner in my eyes! My son ordered the trio of ice cream which was quickly devoured and my partner had the double chocolate brownie which he also swiftly polished off. The staff were friendly and the cocktails were good. I also much preferred our visit here to the Cow and Calf pub in Ilkley which is also a Vintage Inns pub with a very similar menu ( see my other post for that review on that ). We will definitely be returning at some point. The food was delicious. We were warmly greeted by staff and made to feel very welcome. The prices were very reasonable and the meal was great value for money.

Our main waitress Nicola (and one of her daughters, with long, blonde hair) looked after us superbly - Nicola is a real credit to you. She was attentive without being pushy; friendly yet professional, efficient and helpful. Her customer service is of a very high standard, which I and all my other 8 guests really appreciated. Add to that the fact that all our food was beautifully cooked and very tasty and you always have a good selection of drinks available (I always enjoy the bitters you have on) and it made for a wonderful meal for us all. Had a family Sunday lunch with my elderly mum and wheelchair, access was easy, the disabled toilet was big and clean, and the food was...fantastic !!!! Our servers were brilliant, especially Nicola who went that extra mile, well done Dick Hudsons !!! 100% excellence !!!
