The best restaurants serving British food in Yorkshire and The Humber

I love coming here for a pre-show meal and the quality of the food is always excellent. The lasagne I selected this time was absolutely wonderful, and beautifully presented too. Unfortunately, maybe the waitress had had a busy day, but was rather abrupt when serving, seemingly in a rush although the restaurant wasn't busy at 5.30pm. So much in a rush that she obviously didn't see my loyalty card that I showed her, as I was aware that I needed to before the bill came having been a regular customer for many years. I tried to ask her for some water when she brought our wine, but she simply plonked them down and rushed off so I didn't bother. When she gave us the bill there was no discount. My friend observed that she clearly hadn't registered I'd shown her the card. The waitress then gave me a lecture about the importance of presenting the card early! I didn't make a fuss, and paid the full amount. I really love coming here, and usually the staff are utterly delightful - anyone can have an off day. In my youth I was a Saturday girl waitress and know how tiring the job can be. However, this young lady needs to know that service with a smile, and courtesy to a customer makes such a difference. I'll definitely be back, but hope I receive better service next time.

Have visited this venue on Sunday afternoons for the last few weeks. Excellent service, good choice of wines and beers, friendly customers, very comfortable seating and log burners make it an enjoyable experience. Fully recommend

A Gorgeous breakfast experience. We booked this spot whilst staying in the area and we were not disappointed. The space is modern with tasteful decor and an excellent shop/garden centre. The range of home decor and fresh produce is brilliant, I could have easily spent a fortune! As soon as we arrived, the staff were great: friendly, chatty and polite. The food was absolutely excellent: I had the smoked salmon and avocado hash brown and it was exceptional. Wonderful quality ingredients and lovely presentation; I really enjoyed my meal. My partner had a sausage sandwich which was also delicious. The service was very, very quick and we will definitely return when in the area! The cost was also much lower than expected given the quality and was very reasonable. Highly recommended!

Neglected to mop up wet floor by exit causing me to slip and seriously injure myself, bouncer says ‘happens often’ and didn’t do anything about it

Me an my family came for food tonight.The food was gorgeous the staff were lovely and they made a big fuss over our dog (who loved it) we will be back soon to try somthing else off the menu.

We turned up 30 mins before closing and as such there wasn’t a full menu available but the very polite and patient gentleman behind the counter sorted us all out with chips/whatever meat options were available/buttered baps/curry sauce / gravy, even though we were drunk and annoying. Curry sauce and gravy were great, chips were good, and we all enjoyed the some scraps on top as well. I’ll be back to try the fish and chips… albeit at an earlier hour. Big shout out to the server who dealt really well with our inebriated nonsense.

Nice little place in the town,could do with bigger tables,good breakfast, good staff, need to keep door close to much noise from traffic, I would go again ,parking over the road

Always fun, attentive bar staff, beautiful looking traditional pub. Great decor. Good prices. Land lady and family are extremely friendly and charming. The Landlord and licensee is exceptional and at the top of his game. Nice one.

Nos sentamos en el restaurante de aperitivos de abajo, era tranquilo, pero parecía agradable. Pedido una hamburguesa de pollo y un bocadillo de atún con una bebida cada uno llegó a poco más de £ 28. Esperando que fuera de buen nivel siendo marrones esperó nuestra comida. Mi sándwich llegó y el pan estaba seco en algunos lugares sugiriendo que se había quedado sin cubrir, unas hojas verdes de tomate cherry cohete 1 y pequeños trozos de cebolla roja picada. La hamburguesa de pollo estaba empapada en líquido, no cocinando jugo más como congelado y ha sido cocinado, era duro y doblado en la hamburguesa. Las patatas fritas eran agradables, la comida era muy básica, y nada que delirar, también pedí un pequeño vaso de leche y era £ 1. 30 acaba de servir de nuevo una caja de cartón se obtiene más barato por 4 pintas en el supermercado. No recomendaría y no volvería, vergüenza ya que el amor dora la tienda en sí
