We have been customers of Wilson's fish & chip restaurant/takeaway for over 40 years....and everything was always good, but standards have started to slip, and today we visited at approximately 5.45pm to order our special fish with chips, they explained it will take around 15 mins to do 2 specials, which seemed strange, but we waited in the car... 12 minutes later my husband entered the shop & waited to one side, the lady behind the counter asked if she could take his order ....so he confirmed that he'd already ordered & paid for our 2 Special fish & chips....She looked confused and said that she didn't know where my order was, but offered to put 2 more in, so he said is it going to take another 15 minutes, to which she replied no it will only take 4 minutes 🤔 which left him confused, so he waited and then there were no chips ready, 🙄 so they tried to cook more in haste.... Needless to say we weren't very impressed and when we opened the food we were very disappointed with the very small fish and the horrible under cooked chips....It says they're open until 7.00pm but they seemed to be rushing to close up. Very poor service & quality 😔😞

Nice and friendly staff, the tables are always clean which is appreciated, you receive a generous portion of chip's with your regular fish dish and its always cooked nicely, my only complaint is that the fish portion is a bit too small for the price, I can't really give a accurate score regarding the atmosphere because I visit late in the evening.

Wilson is a historical Fish & Chips shop it's been in the same place serving good, cheap, decent food since I was little (25/30 years at least I think). They have inside seating as well as a takeaway counter so will cover all your needs. They have started taking card payments now but today it wasn't working so maybe double check if you don't have cash. Amazing food done well and cheap too compared to other places that charge way more.

A group of 12 of us went for the Sunday carvery. We all had a small mountain of food which comprised of a choice of 4 different veggies, cauliflower cheese, mash, roasties, yorkshire puds and 4 meats. I chose the turkey and gammon which were both cooked beautifully and I certainly got my money's worth at £9.99 (possibly the cheapest for miles?) I didn't give 5 stars only because of the stairs and accessibility. I will definitely recommend and indeed return 🙂

£3.00 for a wafer thin tiny fish. Underneath the batter the fillet was 1cm thick at best. Officially the worst, tiniest fish I’ve ever been served in my life. A third of the size it should have been. Size of it compared to the fork was ridiculous as you can see. I even measured the thing with a phone app to show how tiny it was. Sort it out Wilsons, if you want to get customers in your place you really need to sell full size fish for £3, not these tiny little goujons, they’re ridiculous.

Cheapish and cheerfull. I say cheapish cos its not cheap like it was back in the day, fish and chips to eat in with a drink, bread and sides will cost around £15, and its still the same tables as it was in the 80s. And same self service tray, pay and find ya table. The iconic thing that always set Wilsons apart from all other chippies though was them square fish, love them or hate them you could only get them at Wilsons! Once upon a time you had Tandfield that did them also, but in later years just Wislons. I loved them in a butty from the take out, and my brother used to prefer 2 of them to a normal fish! However they have stopped doing them! So the Special is no longer a normal size fish and is a larger battered fish same as everywhere, and the used to be special is now your normal fish and chip meal, long live the fish portion! Shame. Nowhere to get them in Keighley anymore!

However credit where credit is due sometimes you can go into Wilson's and get a perfect fish and chips I think that is down to the frier The one who was frying when I went in had a not caring attitude and I suppose that's why I got a lousey fish n chips

Sub standard, chips, sausage and cod tasted weird wasn't very pleasant at all, placed order and the fryer let me know it would be several minutes for the cod and sausages to be ready the old dear serving proceeded to portion up my chips and just leave them on the front counter so they got soggy and cold very quickly I found it strange that they only do one size of chips which tbh is quite small anyway, thought perhaps it was an off day tried again a few days ago and something similar happened again so this time I asked for the chips to be fresh also they weren't too happy but did this and again a weird taste to all the food..... Just bought a take out for my grandma and myself. Absolutely atrocious. If wasn't the fact i live 4vmiles from the shop, I would have taken them straight back! Couldn't eat them. The chips were either warmed from day before or they had sat in the warming compartment all night! There is no way those chips were fresh. Hard and dried out ( come on we all know what fresh chips taste, we are not stupid!) The fish, if you can call it that... you needed a magnifying glass to find the fish! And it was a "special laugh out loud! The batter was on the same level as the chips, in fact I would go as far to say the fish was warmed up as well! I opened up the fish and the white meat was dried into the hard batter. Disgusting. My Grandmas fish was average to say they had just cooked hers as I'd refused the first one they gave her! Won't be going back there! What a waste of my money. Went in the bin!

This place seems to divide opinion judging by the reviews but we thought it hit the spot nicely. Yes, the owner does invite you in if he spots you looking at the menu but we felt able to walk away, check a couple of other places and come back with no pressure. Sat out the back where there is lots of Bronte and Railway Children memorabilia on the walls. Even on a dreary day there were decent views over the valley towards Crossroads. In the summer the terrace would probably be lovely. We had homemade lentil and vegetable soup each, two sandwiches served with salad, pot of tea, bottle of water and a toasted tea cake for £25. For Haworth that’s not bad. Food was served quickly and was good, solid, no frills stuff - ideal for a grey autumn day.
