We were visiting Alcester and popped in to The Bear for lunch. It's a characterful building, the food was very good and reasonably priced and the service was exceptional. They also offer a seniors menu, which seemed good value, although we didn't order from it. Recommend.

My first visit to this little gem of a tearoom, meeting up with my friend. A lovely warm welcome from all the staff I met. Decor was so sweet, it was like stepping back in time to my grandparents kitchen, with all the lovely crockery and furniture. Breakfast was absolutely amazing (Avo & Egg on toast with a cheeky side of bacon & tomato). A big pot of tea (tea leaves not tea bags) which was delicious. I found out as we left that we’d been served by Darren, he was fun & helpful and really added a great feel to our visit. 200% coming back to this lovely establishment very soon.

First of all, let me make it quite clear that this is not a bad place to eat. I was tired and had travelled from afar to get to the Kings Court Hotel nearby, and an internet search made me decide to choose the Moat House over my hotel restaurant. It just doesn't push enough buttons to deserve a really good write up unfortunately. My first impression was favourable, I managed to get a really good glass of Australian Chardonnay without breaking the bank, a rarity in these days of Pinot Grigio and multiple incarnations of Sauvignon Blanc. But my crab starter arrived within a minute of ordering, and had clearly just been pre-prepared and subsequently taken out of the fridge. Far too cold, and despite waiting for a few minutes, the juiciness of the crab didn't shine through. My 'wood-fired' cod didn't hit great heights either, I was unable to discern the difference between 'wood-fired' and 'baked in the oven'. It was underseasoned, the accompanying asparagus was slightly overcooked, and I skipped dessert and left with a feeling of disappointment. The place is alright, the staff are pleasant and attentive, but for goodness sake sharpen up on the cooking, because at the moment it's amateurish at best, and not worthy of the prices charged.

We are regular visitors to Hillers and visited the Garden Cafe again yesterday 23/10/24 for lunch. The food is always excellent, but felt that the Sausage and Mash and the presentation we had was exceptional in the quality of the dish and presentation. Our compliments to the Chef, Kitchen and Serving Staff, keep up the good work.

We visited Arrow Mill recently and were 5 of us for Sunday lunch. The food was very poor. Overcooked, undercooked and the meat was tough. We were not asked how things were and no one liked to make a fuss in front of others but I think you should be very selective about your choice. Great venue spoilt by the food quality and attention to detail by the staff.
