We stayed at the Kings Court during C19 but everything was sorted as much as it could be ana everything was very pleasant. We thoroughy enjoyed Alcester (said like Ulster). the town is a delight to wander around and a visit to the little training bakery at the side of the church was great. Have a look at the clock on the church tower, it is on a corner. Loved the town and the countryside is stunning. You can hardly believe that Birmingham is not that far away. Warwickshire is well worth visiting.

Fabulous overnight stay included a 3 course meal B&B. I had emailed ahead and explained about a knee injury so they put us in one of their ground floor lodges which was very roomy. En-suite with a shower in the bath. Very clean and tidy bed linen and towels all snowy white but room could do with a little upgrading mainly to paintwork and the seats in the sitting area which were badly stained. Our room number was 1 which needs the radiator bleeding as was hot at the bottom but Luke warm as you got to the top whereas the bathroom radiator was boiling. The evening meal we were served was excellent with good choices on all 3 courses. A great quiet nights sleep followed by a lovely breakfast. Prices in the bar are on par with other hotels. One way system in operation (COVID-19) where possible not always adhered to by guests who had more than been prompted by staff who were all very nice and attentive. Tables were cleared quickly. Must have been good as have booked again 😍

We booked this hotel for one night's B&B and were very impressed by the standards. We had a quiet room well away from the main road, the bed was very large and the room facilities just what we wanted. The only reason we didn't give it five stars is that the walls are a little thin and we could hear our neighbour's conversations. This might be a problem when the hotel is busy. The restaurant staff couldn't have been more helpful, particularly the manager. Not wanting a large supper, we asked to share a sirloin staeak. The manager offered to serve this on two plates with half a steak each and it was delicious, medium rare with real flavour and cooked t perfection. Breakfast was a revelation with everything one could wish for. We compared this in our minds with a Brewers Fayre breakfast attached to a Premier Inn we had experienced recently and this was far superior. Again, the staff should be commended on their friendliness and great service. When we checked out, we found we could have had a £4 discount on our previous night's supper but nobody bothered to tell us this in advance and we didn't spot the notice. Is this the receptionist's fault, the restaurant staff's or ours? Never mnd, it wouldn't stop us coming back to this hotel again. Thank you for a great stay.

Stopped here for afternoon tea. One of those times when nothing was wrong, but you wouldn't hurry back. Not memorable in any way, but adequate. When reviewing an experience, whether for a bedroom or for food and drink, its good to be specific, accurate and informative for anyone reading it. I hate the expression, 'it was alright!' but that's exactly my thoughts. Hotel clean, tidy and 'adequate'!

The room was okay, nothing special but had all the amenities. We were a bit surprised at dinner that if you book through Groupon you're only allowed a very small menu, not the main menu. You can't upgrade either, you just have to buy the meal off the larger menu at full price. The breakfast was alright but again, nothing special. Overall this hotel is okay if you just need somewhere to stop overnight but I wouldn't recommend it for a nice getaway.

Reasonable quality food for lunch, at an exceptionally low cost, in pleasant surroundings. It is self-service with plenty of choice. Only two criticisms: the bar was sometimes left unattended, and also when we went up for pudding they had been cleared away without any warning to us, which was very poor.We were a large group but we were not the only ones put out by this, and so they brought limited puddings back. They only had a couple of creme brûlées, and those were not caramelised. This removal of puddings was a pity because it let the place down with 14 potential patrons! However, it was such good value I will give them another try.

1 night stay whilst attending a friends wedding. The hotel looks nice inside and out and reception staff were helpful and polite. Bed linen looked like it had footprints all over it but only saw this after returning from the wedding so too late to do anything about it. We were advised doors were locked at 10pm for safety. This was kind of true as the main door was locked so we used the key we were given, but the fire escape door was wide open and this was at 1am. Not a particularly safe feeling!

Another excellent meal at Kings Court for our anniversary. Can't say we've had Sunday lunch here before but it was lovely. Lamb was the roast of the day but we could have chosen Beef Chicken or others.Smashing hotel with loads of parking good road links and most importantly good beer. Not many here today which i am told is unusual so book, we did. £28 got us 2 roasts 2 cauliflower cheese extras and 2 drinks, so not too bad. Service was very pleasant and quick. It's worth having a starter as mains are cooked fresh and take a few minutes. I can see this being our choice for Sunday Lunch.

We stayed at this hotel with family for a two night stay which included breakfast and one evening meal. We arrived in the pouring rain and a little early to check into our rooms so decided to have a lunch in the Twisted boot the pub attached to the hotel. Greeted by very friendly staff we sat in the bar and ordered a baguette to share. Thank goodness we decided to share as the steak and onion baguette come came delicious skin on chips and a large salad. Absolutely fabulous- steak very tender and the salad with a light dressing was fresh and delicious. We finished with a coffee and mints which was a very good coffee indeed. We checked into our three rooms which were warm welcoming and well equipped. We overlooked the open fields with ducks and birds in view. Tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms with cookie biscuits were a nice touch. Breakfast was excellent great choice of fresh fruits, pastries, cereals, nuts, seeds and full English breakfast. Poached eggs were cooked to order and our lovely waitress ( sorry didn’t get her name ) sourced soya milk and decaf coffee. Our dinner on the Saturday night was fabulous again we shared a selection of starters which were delicious. A mixture of main courses included gammon fish and chips burger Moroccan chicken and beef casserole. The portions were very generous and three of the six could not finish although really wanted to. I have to say all the staff were very friendly and accommodating to all requests. I have read a previous review and really can’t believe he was at the same hotel. I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel and pub. 5*

MORE AT OpenTable

The Kings Court is very cheap and the food reflects that. It is very basic almost school dinner style food. Which is fine as I know the restaurant customers are mainly pensioners. My grandparents have always come here and we came for a Sunday lunch for my grandmother’s birthday. As per the food isn’t very modern or anything fancy (I suspect microwaved), but today we were especially disappointed. A waitress was incredibly rude to us my grandmother asked a question about deserts to which the waitress replied “can you give me a chance to actually hand out the menus before you start asking for things?”. We were all a bit taken aback but assumed it was a misunderstanding but then my mother asked about the ingredients of the lemon tart to which the waitress replied “it’s a lemon tart”. My mum then tried to explain and ask if it had a biscuit or pastry case and again we got “well it’s a lemon tart” with an irritated, condescending tone. It felt like she was very irritated at having to serve the table. She then poured coffee for us which was slopped into the cups and spilt with no offer of a napkin let alone an apology. I never complain but today it just really irritated me to see the way the waitress repeatedly spoke to elderly members of my family. She also saw my sisters son going to play in the garden, slammed the door shut and barked “it’s drafty” and walking away. It seemed we weren’t the only irritated ones as she repeatedly dropped cutlery at another table and waited for the same customer to repeatedly pick it up off the floor for her with no thanks. Just surprised as I know despite it not being our thing, my grandparents regularly eat here and it was upsetting to see someone treating elderly customers like that.

We always go here for family functions as my grandparents like it because it’s cheap and cheerful. We’ve been going there since I was a little girl. We went today for a family meal and were mainly served by the one lady who was INCREDIBLY RUDE. She told my 83 year old grandma (who’s birthday we were celebrating) to “just wait!” because she had told the waitress what she wanted for pudding too early. She also argued with my Mum who enquired about the lemon tart. “Well its a lemon tart” she snapped back. So my mum asked if it was pastry or biscuit bottom and she said “probably pastry because that’s what a lemon tart is!” and didn’t even bother to go and check. Then because my little one was playing outside she slammed the doors shut as he was going to go outside claiming it was because one person had complained it was cold but it was actually stifling hot weather today. She also held hot plates over the high chair my little one was sat in and judging by how much she kept dropping on the floor I was very nervous. She absolutely spoilt it for us all today. I was polite at the time because I didn’t want my grandparents to be anymore embarrassed than they already were as nobody else wanted to eat there.

Visited here as a part of an 80th Birthday Celebration. I felt for price the menu offered very good value. The prawn starter was delicious and so was the lamb main. Elements of the service could do with sharping up such as giving out drinks menus or having them on the tables ready, and frequency of table checks etc when there is a large table someone will always want a top up, we had to wait a while for the bill, polish these couple of details and it will elevate the experience to match expectations.

We were a party of 9 booked to have 'afternoon tea' on Saturday to celebrate a birthday. Unfortunately it was left lacking & although we fully understand that for the price I suppose we should have expected what we had, just one 1" wide cucumber finger & one 1" wide (cheap) very thin ham finger sandwich each, no other choice of sandwich fillings were offered! Plus a small square of Bakewell tart together with a scone, jam & cream each! I will add however tea & coffee was plentiful so no complaints there. In our opinion they need to send out a 'scout' to see exactly what their competitors are offering for not much more money. Left feeling disappointed as we had a better experience elsewhere with more on offer & more choice with regard to sandwich fillings etc in the local area. Suffice it to say unfortunately we will not be returning or recommending for 'afternoon tea' .

The buffet, available every Monday to Friday consists of soup, a wide variety of salad items and a main course, three choices, a vegetatian option, vegetables or rice a then a choice of desserts, all of which were fresh, frequently replenished and appealing. The fixed price, £10.95, represents excellent value, coffee and mints are very little extra. A real find, suitable for small as well as large numbers. I will return.

Staff closed the windows, when making the beds, one day, which didn't help and pegged open all interior fire doors??The breakfast was awful. Trays of precooked food, sitting under a heat lamp, which were only lukewarm and greasy looking and didn't taste much better either. The fruit salad tasted as though the melon had fermented and there were flies crawling all over the bread and jam and croissants (nothing was covered up at all)The light bites menu was a saving grace because it was tasty and well presented. The evening meals were a disappointment due to lack of seasoning and none were piping hot. Did enjoy the lemon posset though, well done chef for that at least. The waiting staff and bar staff were friendly, polite and efficient and I must say, they deserve to be serving better food because they all do a fabulous job of making sure the customers are looked after. All in all, great front of house staff, shame about the rest.

At first glance the menu was nice with a good range and some appetising dishes. On arrival the food was presented well, but quite bland.

This is very reminiscent of a mid-twentieth century Hotel lying between Alcester, a lovely little market town with a Roman history and Studley and with Coughton Court (NT) with its background of the Gunpowder Plot nearby. Today it serves family occasions and conferences but its dining facilities are quite good and it has enjoyed continual uplifting over the years. There is at lunch time a good salad bar followed by a choice from three hot dishes and a pudding which at £8.20 is good value. We chose the roast turkey which seemed "rechauffee" and suffered somewhat. There is a chef's specials as well. It is a good centre away from the bustle of Shakespeare's Stratford. We had to dine in the bar due to pressures in the dining room and a large party but the staff dealt well with the matter. There is a spacious lounge for coffee and relaxation with no pressures to move on. Shame about the turkey but we will go again.

A tired building in need of some attention. Food reasonable but always difficult catering for large numbers. With the notable exception of one excellent and friendly waitress, staff are totally indifferent to customers. Potential goldmine going to waste.

The hotel is lovely and rooms very spacious and well appointed. However, we were disappointed with the Open Table booking system. The staff did not know we had booked. Fortunately there was space for us. The dining room is small and people have to pass through closely to diners to get to the bar. The food was greasy (ribs turned out to be pork strips). However they charge very reasonable prices so actually this is fair value for money.

Had a lovely meal on Sunday, beef and cheesecake, Peroni beer. Plates were hot...important point that. Was a little bothered as sat near a large busy group, they kindly seated us in a quieter area. Enjoyed the setting, décor. National Trust is nearby. Nice staff.

On the plus side, the premier rooms were very nice, clean and well equipped. There was a wedding party the night we stayed, but the rooms are far enough away from the hotel so we were not bothered by any noise. The breakfast was excellent. On the negative side there was a problem with flies but that's down to the location and the weather conditions which is hardly the fault of the hotel. The food on the restricted Groupon Menu was appalling which is the fault of the hotel. It really does take a lot of neglect to produce a plate of food that bad. The staff were uninterested, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were basically ignored in the restaurant and the bar and in reception. Its a shame really because with a little bit of basic hospitality we would have stayed again, but we won't.

Staying here tonight on a Groupon deal and the meal was awful. We were presented with a Groupon menu with 2 starters (melon or carrot soup) and 3 main courses (pork loin, chicken wrapped in bacon or a veggie option) and 2 sweets (Eton mess or cheesecake). When I booked the groupon deal I checked the menus and they looked great, but when I asked if we could change menu we were told only if we paid full price, no allowance would be given for the groupon menu we had bought. I wasn't aware we had bought a groupon meal, the deal never mentioned that. Beware! We will not be back...

I stay here quite often and dined alone on a Tuesday evening. The twisted boot restaurant has a split between traditional bar tables and separate dining room that is used at breakfast for the hotel. Enjoyed a really high quality sirloin steak, grilled perfectly rare. A very tasty piece of steak with usual accompaniments, nice Marstons ale to go with it. I must commend the staff, all of whom were very courteous, well trained and responsive to any requests. This is reason enough for me to return as and when I need to stay in this area on business. Thank you.

We have been to several events at this venu and they have always been great. On this occasion the service was good as was the entertainment. .....the food however was not ! I had the pea and ham soup which was thick, gloopy and did not taste great , it was served with a slice of crusty bread with what seemed to be a large dollop of ham lard (not nice). Main course was beef, the portion was large with lots of vegetables and it did look atractive.....however it was very over done and dry. The desert was cream brullee (my personal favorite) when it arrived it was sunken in the middle, no crispy sugar top and so completely over cooked I can't believe they served it. The cheese course was really good lots of lovely choice . We were a party of 17 and i saw lots of food being left on my friend's plates. I would be reluctant to organise another party at the kings court as it is quite a responsibility and I would not be happy if the food were of the same standard.

First visit with friends good set menu for Sunday lunch, but had to ask to give the order then when the starter arrived one of them was wrong, the same thing happened with the main these soon corrected. We all had clean plates but left most of the veg as this was a plate of mixed veg not all to every ones choice and this seemed to be reheated. The sweet choice was excellent for a set menu. We will certainly return if in the area.

Sunday Lunch with some concerns - First course for one of our party was a prawn dish the rest having soup , we laughed and joked as it was brought to table as we could only see 4 prawns on the bed of lettuce - this turned to shock as we saw that the prawns had been sliced in half and placed cut side down so in fact there were only 2 prawns on the plate . The rest of the meal was fine with no issues We will return here but maybe not choose prawns next time

Ten of us went here for Sunday Roast to celebrate our friend's Ruby Wedding Anniversary. As the person responsible for organizing and making the reservation, I was left feeling disappointed by my choice which is a shame, because the venue is lovely. With more care and attention, and some simple changes, it has the potential to be fantastic!Unfortunately, on our arrival, and despite booking, there was no-one around to show us to our table. It wasn't busy, so there appeared no reason, to leave us waiting around like spare parts! After 5 minutes or so I ventured into the Restaurant and approached a male worker to ask where we should go. He took us all through into another room and pointed to a table reserved for us. He advised we take our seats and said a waiter would be through to take our orders.Quite a few of the chairs were dirty and badly marked. One so badly (looked like someone had peed on it), no-one would sit on it, so we swapped it for another one from a nearby table not in use.The waiter was asked if the roast beef was well cooked. He shrugged his shoulders and said he didn't know, it was just beef! My friends explained they would like to order the beef, providing it was well cooked, not rare and running with blood. There was no wine list so the waiter was asked for 2 specific bottles by name. 2 bottles arrived, open, and were plonked on the table in front of us. 1 was correct the other, nothing like, totally different, but not a word of explanation was given. I had to question why we had been given a completely different wine, to that we had ordered. We were told the wine we wanted, was only sold by the glass. Not wanting to create a fuss we accepted the 2 bottles that had been opened. We later discovered the wine we wanted was in fact sold by carafe as well, so at least we were able to order another 2 throughout the meal. The food itself was delicious but could have been hotter. The service was quite poor. Vegetables were in separate dishes to serve yourself and condiments (mint sauce etc) had to be asked for and were served to you. We weren't served together either, some were left waiting a considerable time for their meal. Sweets were no different, worse in fact. 1 person was left without and we waited approx 10 minutes for cream to arrive as accompaniment. I had to stop the waitress mid service of another table, to ask her to complete the service of ours. Most people got fed up waiting for the cream and went without so by the time the cream jug arrived, only 1 person had sweet left to pour onto and 1 person was still waiting for their sweet! Not good. The table next to ours, who arrived some considerable time after us, were given priority. They were served quickly and completed their meal long before us. They were given a plate full of after dinner mints to share too.We were not given any mints, even after payment. As this had not gone unnoticed by everyone at our table, I mentioned to the waiter that some after dinner mints would be nice. He nodded, winked at me and fetched some for us. We have no idea why we were treated poorly in comparison to other diners. We had no unruly children in our party, we were all nicely dressed and well presented, we weren't riotous or drunk and we remained polite and respectful throughout.Staff need proper training. They need to know what Chef is serving and what wine is available. Not just serve an alternative of their own choice! It's not acceptable. When my friend and I went to pay the bill, I discreetly suggested that their customer service be looked at and worked on. I advised that one table of diners need to be served before going onto the next table. You would think I had 2 heads! I stand by this because it appears they have a 2 tier system going on.It is such a shame because we would like to go back, but only with some improvements and changes. I hope they read this and do what's necessary sooner rather than later, before it affects their trade and becomes irreversible.

The waiting staff were very attentive and professional, the setting was excellent, immaculate starched white tablecloths, presentable cutlery, air conditioning, but oh dear, the food was quite bland and tasteless and it may only be £6.95 for a lunchtime 'eat as much a you like' buffet, but with tasteless food, I didn't eat as much as I should have been able to. My advice? Congratulate the waiting/dining room staff and look around for another chef.

We got a room through Social Living and thought the deal was exceptional value. The rooms are large and pleasant but of a "corporate" feel. Absolutely disgusting food we have ever had.. Did not get money off or refund either.... Never go to that restaurant.. Few other pubs around...

Booked a table for 6 people at 7:15pm. Got there at 7:10 and after standing around for 10 minutes, we got sat down in the bar area. Waited another 10 minutes for put drinks orders to be taken. Given menus and waited another 30 minutes for food orders to be taken. Finally got taken to our table at 8:20pm over an hour after our booked time. Finally our food can e at 8:50pm… food was great albeit very small portions. Fish curry was good but the world’s smallest amount of rice. When the bill came the service charge was already on there. Our group personally do not like this as we prefer to give a tip for the service and the food NOT on the percentage of the overall food & drinks. Sorry to say that eating over 1 & 1/2 hours after table was booked is pretty poor. Whilst the place is lovey the service was slow. Either hire more staff including more chefs or take less bookings.

What an fabulous pub! This is what a true English pub looks like, feels like, smells like! Amazing...log fire, real beer, professional staff. The pub has so much history , from the date of the building to the contents around the pub. I enjoyed a fine cigar out front, below it's famous Mulberry tree, enjoyed a great pint of Guinness whilst listening to an Owl in a tree opposite the pub. A must place to visit...
