Had a great time a couple weeks back at the Holly Bush. The bar staff where lush amd chatty had lots of space for me and my group of friends to hang out. Played darts , played bord games and had a great beer choice.

This pub used to be so lovely and welcoming, now it's headbanging music and not much else, some of the singers are so bad you wonder if they do it for free. Place used to be spotless,no so now,the previous owner spent hours in the garden and kept it beautiful again not so now, they advertise on their website that they do food but no food in sight. I've read some reviews about the previous owners running the place into the ground, what a load of bull, the place was a dump before Pete and Helen came along, they must have spent a small fortune renovating only for the new owners to paint everything Gray and all over that beautiful wood paneling, but hey each to their own. I hope they are enjoying their retirement, they deserve it

Since Red & his wife took over this fine pub a year ago it has got better & better. Music that makes you want to stay & with a decent beer selection. The guest ale is always something to go for of course. The locals are back with a fine age spread from 18 to 80+. The welcome is as warm as the log burner. Life has been breathed into this fine old building & its soul has returned too. When Red & his family are taking a step back from their great front of house work then the other bar staff make you feel just as at home. When the weather allows then head to the sheltered garden too. The previous tenants almost killed the place so ignore reviews from 2021 & before. The Holly Bush is back !!!!!!! Use it 😀🍺

Menu has several gluten free choces clearly marked on the menu for mains and deserts. I had cider battered fish, chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce (£12). Food came quickly and was nicely presented. All were obviously home made including the hand cut chips made from real potatoes, down to the chunky tartare sauce. Delicious and very happy with our lunch. Only let down was not being able to get a latte or cappuccino but made a change to have a pot of tea and cafetiere anyway. Would definately recommend.

A miserable rainy Sunday, I decided I didn't want to cook - so as I'd heard good things about the food at the Hollybush, I decided why not! Initially annoyed at the road closures, I nearly changed my mind. I'm glad I didn't. The pub was very busy. Bar & lounge busy. I was sat to a table & chose the Lamb. OMG. Tender, just just slightly pink & gorgeous. Hardly any fat. The lamb was layered on top of perfect roast potatoes & parsnip. An extra dish of seasonal veg cane out. My plate was hot (which for me is a must) I could not believe the value. 10 minutes in, I was offered an extra gravy boat, extra veg & a Yorkshire pudding. As soon as the plate arrived, the 1st taste made me so happy & warm. I knew I had to write a review. Despite being very busy, I was welcomed, fed & looked after. Thank you to all at The Hollybush, my experience was faultless. Stumps.

On arrival the pub is a secret little gem. From the outside it's not too appealing but my gosh inside it's beautiful and the garden is spectacular "shade, shelter, flowers, grass, slabs etc". All you need and more. On ordering our first drinks, we were met by two fresh and friendly faces who seemed so pleased to serve us our drinks and made us feel so warm and comfortable for reference (A blonde girl and a tattooed male). Thus was a winner. We proceeded to order food at our table and we where again overwhelmed by the service. Food was fantastic waitress was spot on (I use to be a waitress and chef previously) that along with the great bar staff I will be back and will spread the word in my home town that this place is pretty much all you need and more. The proprietors must be delighted.

Popped in to the Hollybush for a quick drink with a friend and our children. The lady serving behind the bar was rude and dismissive. We took our drinks into the garden, which is beautiful! Sadly, yet again the same lady spoke to us in way that made it very clear we were not welcome there. I should point out that our 3 children were beautifully behaved and could teach this woman some manners! As a local, we certainly won't be returning and will be advising others to stay away too. Social skills surely are a must as a publican to succeed?!

Still a great little pub. The actors bar is the best room as it has loads of pictures of actors going back many years. I couldn't name most of them, but it's much better decoration than having a rusty french bike nailed to a wall. The drunken duck was an excellent pint and the pies on the table close looked amazing.

Booked a table for 6 people at 7:15pm. Got there at 7:10 and after standing around for 10 minutes, we got sat down in the bar area. Waited another 10 minutes for put drinks orders to be taken. Given menus and waited another 30 minutes for food orders to be taken. Finally got taken to our table at 8:20pm over an hour after our booked time. Finally our food can e at 8:50pm… food was great albeit very small portions. Fish curry was good but the world’s smallest amount of rice. When the bill came the service charge was already on there. Our group personally do not like this as we prefer to give a tip for the service and the food NOT on the percentage of the overall food & drinks. Sorry to say that eating over 1 & 1/2 hours after table was booked is pretty poor. Whilst the place is lovey the service was slow. Either hire more staff including more chefs or take less bookings.

I called for availability on the day due to another establishment letting us down for Sunday lunch. The guy I spoke to kindly managed to fit us in with a booking time. We gladly accepted and was at the premises within 15 minutes. They looked after us fantastically with awesome service and food. They had a large party to attend to, but we never felt as if we were put aside. I can not rate the golden cross highly enough for rescuing our Sunday lunch. Thank you.
