We are regular visitors to Hillers and visited the Garden Cafe again yesterday 23/10/24 for lunch. The food is always excellent, but felt that the Sausage and Mash and the presentation we had was exceptional in the quality of the dish and presentation. Our compliments to the Chef, Kitchen and Serving Staff, keep up the good work.

Living locally I know Hillers well and have never had a poor experience. Sadly I won't be going back. An English breakfast costs £12.50 and for that you get half a tomato, two rashers of bacon, two skinny sausages, a hard fried egg, a very small mushroom and a plate full of fried potatoes! A complete rip off! It wasn't even hot when it arrived, more luke warm. I wish we'd gone to Ellenden instead!

We bought some cakes and tea at the cafe. Lovely sunny day to sit outside. I attended with my parents and my daughter who is 1. I had brought milk with me in her cup. She drank it all and was asking for more, so I went up to the counter and asked if they could put a little bit in her cup for me as I had run out. It was clearly a cup for a baby and I explained that I had been caught short. The lady on the counter was rude and unpleasant, muttering to her colleague before helping me. She proceeded to charge me 80p for the small amount of milk for my baby. I thought this was unnecessary (it is like charging for a spot of extra milk for your tea) and a bit mean really! As if they couldn't spare a spot of milk for a very young child! I would have expected a family run establishment to be much more family friendly. The staff serving me were the older members of the team. The younger ones seem much more pleasant. Despite being very local, my bad experience and poor treatment means I won't be back.

Always visit Hillers when we are in the area. Food is always excellent However on this occasion as it was such gorgeous weather we decided to sit outside BIG mistake - if you like wine out of plastic cups / wooden cutlery or paper plates this is for you - if not eat inside Once we realised that was the set up we asked to eat inside which appeared to anger the staff Not impressed - we will be back but inside this time!!!

We had a lovely walk around the gardens and shops so decided to eat in the cafe. I had a Brie Cranberry and Bacon Sandwich on Granary which was lovely £8.50 and a pot of tea £2.75. My friend had the warm smoked mackerel with asparagus £10.50 which looked nice the asparagus was tasty cooked to perfection. I brought a quiche slice £2.85 to take home which was beautiful and a Danish pastry £1.35 great stuff will definitely visit again

Hillier Garden Centre Dunnington Alcester 24th June 2023. I was near the area and called in today. so disappointed with the hide. there was no food left out to capture the deer etc., I did see my first tree creeper and did not get the photograph, because a young child came screaming in and off it flew. These are what I managed to get. I didnt, stay long. just so very disappointed. They do not realise what an attraction they have here. the place itself is fantastic. miniature train rides. great selection of plants. Brilliant cafe/restaurant and butchers. It's too far to visit regularly and may not go again, even if in the area. I went with Ron Baker It is great if you are in the area with children.

We live nearby and regularly use the farm shop and the cafe. The food is good and it’s a lovely setting, up until today this has outweighed the hit and miss staff. Today at 3.55pm we arrived at the kiosk to order sandwiches and drinks. My partner commented that the breakfast baps finished at 4pm, it was on the menu board. The sandwiches and snacks are available from 11.45am, nothing about what time they finish, so one would imagine it would be just before 5pm when they close. The member of staff said that the breakfast baps finished ages ago. We asked to order sandwiches and were told the kitchen was closed and we could have cakes or pastries only. Her manner was appalling so we chose to walk away. The staffing has always been haphazard, occasionally helpful, often not, and things ordered not brought to the table until we point out they have been forgotten. If the kitchen is going to close over an hour before the cafe closes, why doesn’t it say this on the menu. Maybe the staff need to be paid to stay on after the cafe closes to clear up?

This was my second visit. The first time I came to meet new friends as I was joinging a lunch club. That visit was a happy one. I went around the gift shop and the farm shop and had a good asparagus lunch. This time I discovered the gardens and the hide where I saw a woodpecker and hen phesant. Perhaps the food was not so good this time because the filo spinach roll was heavy and soggy but on the other hand the farm shop and gardens were worth a visit in their own right. Come here and see for yourself. I will be back.

I've been meeting a friend at the Garden Cafe for many years, we always have decent food and good service. At lunch today I very enthusiastically sprinkled my meal with sugar, instead of salt! The waitress arrived at our table to deliver our drinks, cleared away the wrappers I had discarded and realised that it was sugar, not salt. She immediately took my plate away, returned within minutes with a plate of food containing no added sugar! This was prompt and excellent service, for which I was very grateful.

Decided to stop for a sandwich here after going to the garden centre - we had the dog with us so sat outside - we had previously eaten inside and enjoyed it so expected the same standard & service as inside - Oh No not a chance - ordered the food from the kiosk an sat down on one of about 20 tables outside - we were asked for our name so we thought the waiting staff could identify us - No this wasn’t the case - an elderly waitress came from inside the restaurant and plonked our tray of food on a wall next to the kiosk & shouted our name out - we couldn’t believe that this was their normal operating procedure - when we quizzed the waitress we received a dirty look & a flippant reply ‘Its what we normally do!’ We to Top this off the next delivery to the Wall of Service - another tray of food was placed on it and left unattended - this time somebody came out of the Toilets & proceeded to use the sanitiser directly next to the tray of food - this wasn’t this persons food but literally stood next to it and sanitised & potentially breathed on the food - heaven knows if they had a cough or similar ! We thought this wasn’t right & questioned the manageress who was more concerned that the picture I had taken was going on Tripadvisor rather than saying Right I’ll get the waiting staff to take the trays to the tables - which in reality isnt any hardship especially the prices that are charged ! - Well I thought I would give it a week and go back to see if the system had changed before I made the review - sadly nothing had been changed as of today - needless to say our Health & Wellbeing far outway going there again with the potential of infection from people leaving the toilets & using a sanitiser station next to unaccompanied food

Not bad but not as strong as I would have hoped for. Steak sandwich arrived about half-a-cup later. Excellent side salad, good leaves and the vinaigrette was just right. Sandwich was in a fresh and tasty roll. Good beef, cooked as requested. The advertised "chips" were French Fry sized, not really chips. Given that, they were fine.

Always a favourite of ours for a booked lunch now means turning up and taking pot luck that a table will be available .Particularly embarrassing if you turn up with friends to be disappointed.Smart and trendy now it may be ,but commercial influences have taken away the homely farm cooked food environment that we new and loved.Choose a table and present its number at the counter.Where have we come across that before? A recent Sunday morning visit for a light breakfast of thick cut toast and marmalade was off the menu.Thin sliced toasted bread available and only with more substantial meals. How disappointing after 20 years of patronage ,Sunday morning trips to Hillers will never be the same. Mind you the farm shop and gardens are still worth a visit.

We had a lovely lunch on a rainy day in mid-June. We were able to sit inside the recently refurbished and extended restaurant. Gone is the marquee tent and in its place is a stylish garden dining room. Bizarrely though, there are large pictures of olives on the wall… but we’re in the vale of Evesham so should celebrate local produce such as asparagus or apples and soft fruit!. You now order at the counter, arguably a better system than the table service of the past as you don’t need to wait to flag down a member of staff to take your order. We had a soup, terrine and a portion of chips from the light bites menu and they were perfectly sized. This was followed by a slice of cake each which was a delightful mistake as they were enormous!

A table was available but most appeared to be reserved. My order was taken promptly and served within a reasonable time. Portion size was not large but adequate. I was happy with the taste. Coffee was served with some slopped in the saucer. I was left standing far too long by the till to pay my bill. We visit Hillers on many occasions to buy lovely quality goods from the farm shop, go on the miniature railway with the children and afterwards enjoy a cuppa and piece of cake in the restaurant. On the last two occasions we have found the restaurant staff both unhelpful and rude. We have twice been asked at 4:40 if we would go and pay the bill as they have to take the money over to the farm. They don’t close until 5pm and whilst I am happy to settle to be helpful on each occasion I have then been in a queue to pay and my tea has gone cold. Surely there must either be a mobile card machine for people eating outside or ask people to pay when they order their food.

We came here for breakfast a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed it so much we came back. The breakfasts we ordered were delicious, and were more than sufficient. There’s a good selection on the menu. Service was excellent, friendly and helpful. We will be making this a regular occurrence - I would even bring overnight guests here rather than cook a big breakfast at home.

It was a very disappointing Cream tea. The tea and food was good, but appalling service. It was a treat for a lady turning 99 from her carers. We were placed at our table, food and tea placed on table and that was last we saw of any waitress. We had to ask 3 times for more water for the teapot and got a very grumpy response from the waitress when we asked for contalners to take leftovers home.I certainly won't be going back there.

We booked a table for 6 for lunch and I’d only ever eaten in the main building and forgot about the marque room. On arrival we found we had a table in the marque, it was cold, I saw another table for 6 in the main building so asked if we could have that, No we couldn’t but I was told that the heater had been put on for us. About ½ hour late there was still no one sat at the table in the main building and it then got split up and moved back to two individual tables!!!!

Visit often for the meat fish veg and plant shopping. Friendly knowledgeable staff in all departments and they do a great breakfast using top quality ingredients. Put most hotels to shame.

We visited with my father and enjoyed a lovely lunch followed by fabulous cakes. The garden is full of flowers and beautiful plants and is a must to walk around. There’s a bird hide where you may be lucky to see some wildlife at close quarters. Good plant nursery and stylish little shop selling clothing and gifts etc.

I have just come back from a lovely lunch at Hillers. Although I have lived in the area for a long time I have not come across Hillers before and was pleasantly surprised to find such a good place reasonably close to where I live.

Having visited Hillers a few months ago for coffee and snacks, we booked a table for lunch as a birthday treat. Food and service were very good and prices are about the same as at other garden centre restaurants we have visited (i.e. not cheap). Maybe not a place I would go to every week but definitely worth a visit for a special occasion.

My friend and I visited with our children today. Only half of our food order arrived and when we got hold of our waitress approximately 10 mins later to ask where the rest of the order and our coffees were we told ‘can’t you see we are very busy’

We had pre-booked a table for a special birthday occasion. The Garden Centre's website states "Serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and light refreshments throughout the day". We arrived on time - it transpired that we had not needed to book as there were plenty of tables available. It took ages before a waitress took our order. Despite its only being 3.30 pm (and the café didn't close until 5 pm), we were told that there were no scones for the afternoon tea, as 'it's Bank Holiday and we've been very busy'.

Went there with my best mate today for coffee and light lunch. If our waitress (?Rachel) is indicative of the rest of the staff then I think it could become a regular place for lunch when I visit him. Friendly, informative and welcoming

We visited for brunch arriving at 11.30 to be told we could have a table but would need to be off it by 12.15 as it was reserved- when we refused as 45 minutes isn’t enough for a meal the waitress seemed really put out - we were told we could have another but again “make sure you’re off by 1.15” - 3 more waitresses told us the same. Ok we get it -but it is how you say it and we were made to feel like we needed to leave before we even sat down. We were too early for lunch and the breakfast menu was pretty basic and pricey. So after a tea and coffee (no please or thank you from the waitress) we paid (again no please or thank you) and left to go elsewhere.

We turned up as unannounced as a party of 18 and the restaurant was very busy but the staff opened up the back room for us without missing a beat. We had a great leisurely breakfast and were looked after really well. Thank you Hillers, top marks for both your food and your service.

We visited for a cream tea on a sunny afternoon and it was very busy, but one3 area that looked very pleasant we were told we couldn't use, and also lots of tables were booked, so unavailable. However, we did get our cream tea which was quite good.

Great gluten free cream tea, no fuss ordering for dietary requirements. There were lots of other gluten free options available also, I’m sure I will return.

Visited for tea and tea-cake. Came in at over £5! I feel that this is a bit over-priced. Especially when, if we all want tea, they provide a single tea-pot for us to share.

We stayed here and went to the restaurant to find it set for breakfast. On check out we discovered it had been closed for a year which caused issues as I’m type 1 diabetic! Shame also as the reviews were fantastic

A colleague from overseas and his wife were staying here on a few-days visit to UK. My wife and I joined them for dinner - and wow, we were so glad we did. The welcome from the staff, from the moment we walked in and throughout the evening was nothing short of wonderful. Friendly, professional and fun where appropriate. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent -- I would particularly recommend the Pigeon which I had as a starter - would have had it as main course if it had been an option. I suspect that if I'd asked, they would have accommodated that too - but there was plenty to choose from. All 4 of us enjoyed a great meal in a lovely space with a great view of the floodlit church in the grounds. Not cheap, but worth every penny - cannot recommend it highly enough and my wife and I are already planning to return soon.

Excellent in every way we were a group of friends all with dogs it’s a very dog friendly hotel. Mazine was the duty manager that weekend he was brilliant always there and happy to go that extra mile for the group. Fabulous food, clean spacious rooms and the staff are very friendly. I would highly recommend the hotel it’s in a great position friendly great food. I can’t understand why anyone could write a bad review if you want 5 star go to the Hilton or the Savoy
