The food was fine but I was overcharged and have had no feedback or reply to explain why or offer me a refund or voucher. Would be reluctant to return if the customer service is so indifferent.

The Shakespeare Inn ticks all the boxes for a great British pub …. We were staying locally and fancied eating out and this pub was the first we came across. Simple, tasty food at good prices, we had the pie, and halloumi salad followed by lemon tart, and paired with cider and a wine. Staff were friendly and attentive despite the place being busy, we were warned food may take a while but any delay wasn’t noticeable.

Friendly, great place to meet. Covered patio is a lovely place to spend a warm afternoon or evening. Excellent food too!

Popped in for a drink and ended up staying for lunch. Staff friendly, good atmosphere and food was good. Happy days !!

7 fabulous lunches today at the Shakespeare Inn at Harbury. Roast Beef was divine! Menu choice really varied. Quality of food was superb. Staff were super attentive, atmosphere really chilled. Will visit again. Thanks, much appreciated!! Treats for dogs too !!

Great experience eating here with regards to my son’s dairy allergy- which they took as seriously as they should (sadly not always the case when eating out) and the chef came out and made sure my son had a suitable meal cooked for him. It is always nerve wracking eating out with an allergy but this was a good experience- thank you Shakespeare team!

Four of us had dinner and drinks here on Wednesday evening 8th, we had 2 burgers 1 fish and chips and 1 cauliflour steak 2 sticky Toffee with custard and a sundae. All the meals were very well presented and delicious, the only critique I have is with the Cauliflour steak, it was slightly aldenti and a little thick. However Ann still enjoyed the meal, maybe down to personal preference.Abbey who served us was very polite and helpful, and love the fact that this establishment is dog friendly. We will definitely be going back, we thoroughly enjoyed the evening thank you Shakespear inn.

I came with family I was visiting for dinner, and I came solo a few times. Every time I came the atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming, and the food was delicious.

Great little village pub, really friendly staff and the Blue Cheese and Mushroom Burger was fantastic as were the loaded fries. Highly recommended

Had a fantastic meal here last night (braised shoulder of beef with gravy, mash and roasted vegetables). The quality of meat was really excellent and the flavours superb. To improve the experience, the service was remarkably good; friendly, helpful and super efficient. They didn’t forget any requests which were promptly delivered (horseradish, extra drinks etc) and it felt like they actually really cared whether we were enjoying our meal. We were really impressed. I hope they can maintain this standard as we will definitely be back to try other things on the menu. Loved it. Really want a decent local to fall into for a friendly reception, good food and a decent pint. Thank you 🙏🏼

What a great experience i had here! My friends and I shared a pleasant experience here last friday , the food was delicious with very fast service, the staff were friendly and happy to help when deciding what to eat, one of my friends has a fish allergy and the team were ever so helpful and made our experience 10/10, plus the live music was exceptional, overall thank you to the shakespeare and will definitely be seeing us again soon!

me and my friend decided to come in tuesday night and had a lovely meal i chose creamy stilton chicken and my friend had a braised beef and it was gorgeous, we had a lovely waitress who provided us with fast and friendly service, always being looked after and asked if everything was okay, atmosphere was lovely a nice relaxed evening with lovely staff. they are also dog friendly and the staff even offered biscuits and water bowls it is also kid friendly and cater for all of these requirements. will definitely be coming back!!

Visited Shakespeare Inn in Harbury and was quite disappointed. Service was notably slow, and our table wasn't cleared promptly. My friend's drink had an unsettling surprise with 7 dead flies floating at the bottom. While they did refund the drink, it certainly put a damper on our experience. Food received mixed reviews from our group - nothing stood out as special. The atmosphere lacked vibrancy, and staff seemed preoccupied with their own conversations elsewhere.

First time in the Shakespeare, love pint and welcoming barmaid, hope to visit again

Lunch yesterday on the hottest day of the year, and it was everything you could wish for. We brought our ancient aunt, and with her 98-year (yes!) experience, some of it in the catering trade, she declared, "Couldn't be better!" and we couldn't disagree. A terrifically warm welcome, a reserved table, brilliant service, and kindly help for the older guest. The food - Greek salad, chicken sharing dish, fish and chips - was superbly cooked, charmingly served, and afterwards we sat in the spacious garden to enjoy one more glass. Because we live very far away we can only visit the aunt periodically and so taking her out has to be special - and this was. I'd like to offer our sincere thanks to the staff of the Shakespeare for a truly memorable lunch.

Visited on a week night. We were the only table in the restaurant with a couple of tables eating in the bar area. When we arrived we were told of several dishes being unavailable. When the waitress took our order, we were told there were no root vegetables available to accompany a dish we wished to order, but they could offer peas. There were also no potatoes to make mash to go with the pie. Please bear in mind this is a pub that has a vegetable market in its car park on the day in question and also has 2 supermarkets within the village it could purchase items from. Whilst we were eating our meal, the barmaid went out of the restaurant doors and stood next to the doorway to smoke a cigarette, which was not particularly pleasant. Then it came to ordering puddings, guess what there was no cheesecake available. The whole experience is not one I wish to repeat. As the title says we were all very disappointed.

Great place, if in the area again will definitely pay a visit.

Came here to attend a wake after a funeral, but it was a lovely cosy pub with a friendly feeling. Had neck oil on tap - so I was a happy man.

Insanely slow service, we waited for 1 hour to get our food, there was only 2 other tables eating also, and the rest of the pub was empty, waitress made no effort to make it right, perhaps a free pud or a drink, ventured in to see what it was like after booking in advance, will not be back and will make sure others know to avoid it

Waited an hour for average food for a lunch meal out, the place was empty with 2 other tables eating, plenty of other places do it far better wrecked everyone's good mood and then nothing done to make it right, free drink or pudding might ease the loss of a chunk of afternoon

Great food, arrived quick really helpful happy staff. Live music on a Friday and a female singer and guitarist was brilliant. Definitely recommend

A sound village pub. Friendly staff. Good food. I had the The Blue Shroom, beef burger, Stilton and a field mushroom. It was tasty, but I did have to eat it in sections! Good pint of beer too.

Me and my partner had a lovely meal.... Very busy and live music... food was good...beer was good... prices very fair... Nice polite waitresses... Just taking one star off as we were sat in the conservatory eating with an annoying barking dog behind us... But will definitely be back, overall a very enjoyable night

We held a fabulous surprise 70th birthday lunch for my mum who is a Harbury local, all arranged at a distance as I don't live in harbury. It was made so easy by the team, all options and prices were discussed on messages, all confirmations done virtually......I turned up on the morning to some fabulous smells from the kitchen! We had a hot buffet, which went down a storm! The food was spectacular, and vegetarian options were very popular. There was more than enough for the numbers we catered for, and took home all the leftovers, boxed up by the fabulous team. We were able to decorate and set the room up for a really special surprise, and it certainly worked! My mum was gobsmacked when the staff 'showed her to her table' and she found over 20 guests who travelled from all over the UK. I also had a minor cake emergency which the team there helped me rectify with minimal damage! Overall, I would highly recommend this venue, the food and staff are outstanding. Thank you all for such a lovely and memorable experience.

I went with a medium sized group so had pre-ordered food in order to make the process easier. Although the food was reasonably good, it was very slow to come out. Another niggly issue was that I thought by ordering halloumi and chips instead of fish and chips it was going to be battered. I was surprised to see that the halloumi was served as a sort of starter and the chips were on a separate plate.

Fabulous as always, great food, great drinks and fabulous service.

Nice and cozy atmosphere, the pub is having its beer garden refurbished at the moment. Drinks are slightly to the expensive side, but I do recommend the espresso martini on tap.

The worst linguini I have ever tasted.

Guy at the bar served our drinks rather quick once he saw me at the bar. I asked where we could sit to order a meal for my partner and I he told us anywhere. We sat down at the table waiting for a menu. It was pretty empty so expected to be given a menu to see what was there to eat. Nothing for 20 minutes, atmosphere was not very welcoming so lady and didn't finish our drinks. Maybe a misunderstanding, but did not feel welcome.

Excellent little village pub, first class staff and delicious food, enjoyed a fantastic meal with my family here last Saturday. Special mention to Ed and his superb service, his friendly conversation kept my son entertained, even if he didn’t finish his pizza… which Ed kindly boxed up for us to take away. It's a local pub. Beer and cider selection is ok, food quality is lowering recently and the kitchen does not open every day. The only big plus is the environment: the pub is cosy and has a nice beer garden with a gazebo and some couches.

We had a lovely Sunday roast today. The food was hot and tasty. There was a few board games and Lego which kept my children entertained while waiting. The staff made us feel really welcome and we can’t wait to book again.

Will be back to give another go . Hopefully a better experience .

Very welcoming, great atmosphere

Absolutely amazing. We had a delivery for my dads birthday a few weekends ago. He had the prawn linguine and said it was fab. It all looked and tasted delicious. The burgers sounded so good that we ordered one of each to give them all a try and still couldnt decide which was the nicest. Ordered again last night and got our food within 20minutes. Was fab yet again and both occassions they have catered for my fussy 8year olds special request. Thank you so much. Will definitely be using again for deliveries until it can be re opened and then will pop in

The usual chef was away so Sunday roast not as good as normal. Good real fires dog friendly charming stone built tavern..

Any pub out in the middle of nowhere that plays Low Rider on an overcast October Wednesday lunch time has got to go to the top. Looking forward to returning for food and beer!

Below average run by 2 kids that don't care or have a clue stood at bar to fetch a menu but I'm obviously invisible went to pub up the road and it was fantastic food and service

Nice meal and good service, despite being extremely full and busy for Euros match. Good food and sensible to reduce menu for busy night with huge crowd in garden. Luckily we had booked a table and were impressed with the service and food.

Had a tasty pub lunch in the large beer garden. The food was very tasty and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The pub garden was very clean and tidy and they had a big screen tv showing the football.This is a great place to come and relax with friends.

Went for a drink in the garden, on 14/05/2021 in the afternoon. Had to wait to be seated despite only 3 other tables. Watress was too busy playing with a dog( hygiene). We waited that long we almost went elsewhere. Stayed for 2 drinks then had to wait to pay because again she was playing with dog( hygiene). Such a shame the first time we had been out since October 2020. Lovely garden area they have invested a lot of money, now they need to focus on customer service.

We visited as a family for a birthday celebration on Wednesday evening. The pub is located in the beautiful little village of Harbury.Firstly, the COVID-19 restrictions were abided to with a simple one way system in place and table service for food and drinks.The staff were friendly and attentive and accommodated slight changes to the menu for the picky members of our party without issue. The drinks orders were plentiful and we were well looked after.My only complaint is a positive one. The menu is simple and without explanation and did not represent the fabulous food that was served. I can highly recommend the fish and chips; the batter on the fish was light and crispy and melt in the mouth. All the food was superb, it was hot and well presented and demolished!We had a really lovely evening. Definitely worth a visit. A wee gem in a little village.

Very good welcome ,well layed out for covid ,simple menu but all meals were well cooked and very tasty our waitress was very personable and attentive we mixed abd matched a couple of dishes from the menu ,no problem .The venue was quite busy which made for a great atomsphere ,this was my wife and myself first outing since lockdown could not wish for betternight espaecially has it was sons birtday and his local ,felt safe table service one way system happy days no negatives .

The service was good and the food was outstanding quality and reasonably priced. The portions were favourable and kids pizza was huge.

I booked this based on location and reviews. The menu was simple and dishes inexpensive - most mains at £8. We had the Sunday Roast - 3 beef and one chicken. Excellent quality and value for money. Came with a good selection of vegetables too.

Booked this for a birthday meal. Meal was okay, normal pub food. Service was shoddy and whoever the woman behind the bar was, well she was just plain rude! The bar staff kept making drinks incorrectly, for example: gin and tonic no ice, and oh look, there's ice in it! They forgot to charge us for a drink, and considering that was their own fault, the woman then came over and spoke in a very accusatory tone, and was extremely rude in the way she barked at us.We had considered having our wedding reception there... Definitely rethinking that plan.

The building itself is old and full of character, it's an interesting place just to look at and be in. Large TV, log fire, piano, board games. Food was very, very reasonably priced and tasted much better than the cost would suggest. The chap who served us (beard, glasses) was very friendly. Liked it so much we are going back soon!
