We had a lovely meal today fresh and very taste the 2 waitresses are very friendly and polite really enjoyed it .

First time here since the refurbishment. Came for Sunday lunch. The pub looks great with the new decor. The Sunday roasts are to die for. And the desserts aren’t bad either. Nice friendly staff, attentive without being overwhelming or gushing. Highly recommend to anyone.

Great food and friendly staff but seemed to lack any atmosphere. Maybe it was down to the music being very depressing. I would imagine it's better when there's a crowd in.

Stopped here after a dog walk for some lunch, didn't realise it was their open day but despite it being busy it was no problem at all to have lunch in their lovely garden! They've done an amazing job on the renovation and staff were lovely. The nibbles we had were delicious so can't wait to come again for a proper meal !

Took large party of friends here for a Christmas meal the pub recently re opened and redecorated, nice atmosphere the staff friendly. Had asked for tables to be grouped so no one had backs facing them and we could all talk, to do this properly they needed to invest in large folding round party tables but they had a go. The food received good comments overall, the choice was excellent value and much better than more pricy menus in Welford pubs. Service and gaps between courses very good. Just had slight issue with temperature of soup which was quickly sorted, all in all a really nice meal with friends in a nice pub/restaurant, highly recommend.

Ten of of us stopped here for lunch today. We were unanimous in our approval of the welcome, the warm atmosphere but most of all by the wonderful cooking. The selection of dishes on the menu is eclectic and includes some pub favorites like whitebait and beer battered haddock but also some less usual items: harissa humus and braised leg of lamb for example, but the moules frites got my vote; the best I've had a quite a while. Worth the trip any day!

Great food and beer plus a first rate beer garden that leads down to the river. Service was a bit slow because they were short staffed but they communicated well with us so it wasn’t too much of a problem.

Super friendly and efficient staff who looked after us really well. The parsnip soup and roast beef were delicious! A good selection of wines. We will definitely be back again soon.

A lovely location, by the river. We were greeted warmly by the manager Carl and great service from Innes, Ashton and Courtney. Great banter with the locals. Can definitely recommend the dirty fries!

A nice enough pub, friendly, good beer but not very warm. Nobody wants to sit in a cold pub. It so easy to turn the thermostat up a little bit so we don't have to sit there with our overcoats on.

My first visit to the Fish at Wixford. The food was excellent and good value for money. The pub has a lovely atmosphere and staff were frieby and attentive. Would definitely recommend.

Just had a delightful lunch at the now re-opened Fish at Wixford! Very good choice on menu and very reasonably priced! Had the gnocchi with oysters and sliced mushrooms in a lovely creamy sauce! The Gnocchi served in an unusual way thanks to the imagination of one of their excellent chefs named Matthew! It was excellent!! Highly recommended! Excellent waiting staff, Lucy and Dean, who were extremely efficient, polite and friendly! Very ambient warm atmosphere! Will deffo visit again! Thank you!

Oh my gosh the food!! Been here a few times over the past two months and it always blows me away. The chef is great and everything a fair price. Will definitely be back. Wish I could’ve taken a picture but I ate too quickly!

Lunch party of 12 for a special anniversary. Great service - friendly and made sure everything was right. Inside the restaurant is very nice - cosy and chic. Good range of dishes on the menu - our party had starters and mains. I had fillet of sea bass, mushrooms,sautéed potatoes with rocket and a garlic and chive cream sauce - it was delicious. Others had beef and red wine pie, flat-iron steak, burger and scampi. All portions were generous, food was all hot and very well presented. I wish I had taken a picture to post (sorry!). Would recommend highly and will definitely visit again.

Visited The Fish on a quiet Thursday evening at the start of October for our anniversary meal out and we wasn't disappointed. A friendly welcome on arrival and a few minutes to check out the wine list and food menu. Drinks ordered and received it was time to order our meals. My wife chose the beer battered haddock and I chose (on the recommendation of the waitress) the confit duck dirty fries. Both meals were beautiful. I chose the panna cotta for dessert and it wobbled perfectly when it arrived. A new menu was being introduced the day after our visit (3/10/24) We shall be back.

Absolutely wonderful food, service and atmosphere. Arrived having booked a table for 6 online to find that there was a glitch with the online booking system. The staff’s face said it all - horrified 🤣🙈 as they had a party for a 60th and another for. 40th. But within minutes they had sorted out a lovely round table for us near the window so we didn’t intrude on the parties and their impeccable service continued throughout the evening despite how busy they were. 10/10 and we will be back soon I’m sure.

Although the Fish looks unassuming from the outside, we had a fantastic birthday lunch here recently. The new manager knows exactly how to welcome his customers and we felt very well looked after. The lunch menu is better than many more well-know local foodie pubs, and prices very reasonable for excellent ingredients carefully cooked and presented. The restaurant is comfortable and spacious with bright windows and artwork for sale. Overall a lovely place for a quality dining experience.

Revisited The Fish In 2024 now under new management. Obviously the same fabulous location, service has improved tremendously and Nicole the lady who attended to us was wonderful. Visited on a Sunday so the menu was limited to Sunday Roast which was quite nice, plenty of turkey & vegetables, roast potatoes were a bit hard though, but great value for money anyhow

Visited The Fish over the weekend and have to say the food was amazing! The whole place has been refurbished and looks totally different from before and for the better. Very friendly staff and nicely laid out tables. Food cost was about the going rate for the area and so worth it. Our drinks arrived very quickly and so did the food. Everything was piping hot and steak knives were arranged without request. Would totally recommend a visit. Can’t wait to go back!

Popped in for lunch with my husband, ordered the chicken gyro ,greasy flat bread overdone ,and the salad was not crispy at all but wilted and slimey! Was looking forward to some Greek inspired fresh flavours ,but was very disappointed ended up leaving it .staff were friendly enough.

The Fish has new owners. We had heard good reviews so visited for lunch at the weekend. Wow, I want to go there every day! (yes, I am excessive). The food was simple, delicious and affordable with great options for vegetarians and vegans. The setting is beautiful and the staff were warm and welcoming. I am definitely booking again.

Awful, restaurant was full of flies which I know can’t always be helped but the state of the kitchen from what you could see when you went to the toilet wouldn’t have helped! Service was very slow even just to take drinks, staff seemed more interested in chatting to each other and locals at the bar. To top it off, 3 out of 5 of us had poorly tummies after the meal. Would not go back again.

Just got home from husbands birthday celebration lunch with family. Amazing food, very reasonably priced and service was excellent. I just cannot recommend this place enough ! Not fancy or expensive but home cooked dishes which are just what we need for the local area. I really hope this continues to be the case.

I really hope this continues as we really need somewhere locally that can provide good food at a very reasonable price ( not overpriced and too fancy ) It’s a limited menu but more than sufficient. Very nice place, we sat in the garden to enjoy the evening sunshine. I tried the pork schnitzel, having not eaten here before I wasn't sure of the portion sizes, so ordered a side of rosemary salted fries as well. Both were well cooked and very tasty, I would say if you have a large appetite, go for the extra fries otherwise you won't need them. It does come with a lovely slaw, although the schnitzel is large, so it could use a bit more. All in all, everything was delicious and we all thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will be back.

One of two pubs in the village. The Fish serves good food and a decent selection of drinks. Outside seats look onto the river which is very pleasant. They are recently refurbished and starting to run events. So check the website. We had salads and fish which were very good. The staff are friendly as you would expect from a village pub. It was ok. Sunny day and the garden was rammed with kids, some of whom were playing football and repeatedly kicking the ball into our table and dog (accidentally, and they apologised, but it didn't make for an enjoyable evening). Food was so so. Whitebait was good. Pork escalope thing only came with a bit of side salad - for the price I expected chips, potatoes, veg or something. Not somewhere I'd rush back to, but mostly due to its popularity with young families.

Love what they've done to the place, clean and bright but with character. Had a table for 4 and our waitress Nicola was very good. Menu is adequate but not amazing, very disjointed, not sure they have found their identity yet, so this needs to be worked on. I had the crispy duck salad. It was tasty but not quite what I was expecting. There wasn't enough (if any) sauce on it. My partner had the whitebait as a starter, again whilst tasty nothing like what he was expecting from the description. For dessert I had the Banana toffee sundae, this again very tasty, but very small, just 1 scoop of ice cream with banana and pecan and toffee sauce, I imagine a sundae in a tall glass with cream, ice cream and lots of gooiness. I did mention this to the waitress that I was disappointed, and she immediately took it off the bill. The place was busy, friendly, and very welcoming and I will definitely give it another go. The management just needs to tweak a few details

Quirky pub no more , the animals have gone The new owners have developed a charming venue with great service by friendly and helpful staff. The menu is refreshingly a bit different from the usual pub grub with plenty of choice for a lighter bite or a substantial meal. My Husband’s Pork Snitzel and my Sea Bass were both delicious and all at a more than fair price. We will definitely go back.

We have been a few times now since reopening the atmosphere great. The food delicious & the new young waitress Charlotte so friendly & helpful.

During a recent walk, we decided to pop in and see what the place was like under the new owners. We are from the village and all for supporting local businesses. But christ on a bike the food is such a rip off!! We paid £5.50 for halloumi fries and got 5 chips!! Over a pound per chip! Chicken bites, again £5.50 and got 5 tiny (half the size of a nugget) pieces of chicken! And £5.50 for garlic mushrooms and got about 4 mushrooms with a drizzle of sauce!! I expressed my disgust to two separate staff members and even though the manager was on site, no attempt was made to even discuss!! AVOID THIS PLACE! Three hundred yards up the road is the three horse shoes pub with better food, better choice and better staff. A real shame, years back the fish was a great pub used by all the locals. Simple greed I guess.

Had a great evening here with friends. The staff were so very helpful and lovely. The pub is very dog friendly and our dogs were welcomed into the pub. The food is very, very well done. A great menu with extremely tasty and well presented food. The setting is beautiful, right next to a river with a great outdoor space and lots for children to do. Really recommend this place.

Called in for lunch and what can I say it was absolutely amazing. My partner always leaves something when we go out for a meal but even he cleared his plate. He had the pie and mash and he said it was lovely. I had the haddock and rosemary fries and it was just superb. Lovely pub and the staff were so friendly and helpful to. We will certainly be returning again

An absolutely delightful village pub that offers a great range of starters and mains. I opted for the chicken and mushroom pie which was wonderful, as well as the pork belly bites and sticky Korean chicken for starters. Service from Tiggy and Carl was impeccable and I will be sure to return soon! Cannot recommend this place enough.

Having not visited for some time after a rather disappointing meal a few years ago, we decided to visit following some great, recent reviews. The decor has been updated and is now a calm, airy venue with well spaced seating. The manager, Carl was incredibly friendly and helpful. But, most importantly the food was fantastic. I'm annoyed that none of our group took photo's now! We had a couple of the small bite plates as shared starters - Scampi, Houlloumi, Crispy Cauliflower & Tato Tots- all were delicious (and the selection made it really hard to choose just 4). The Fish and chips were fab- with a really good sized piece of fish (you know, where it overhangs the plate!), a friend had the vegan burger which she thoroughly enjoyed, and the dirty fries were just fabulous. There is a smaller selection of desserts, but it is probably enough to choose from to be honest. Between us we had the Vanilla Poached pineapple with Coconut icecream and honey comb and the Eton mess - not a crumb was left! I'd definitely urge anyone to give them a try. They're trying really hard to bring the place back to it's former glory and are doing a really good job. We'll definitely be going back and recommending to friends and family. The only reason for a 4 for atmosphere was because it was a quiet Thursday evening.

Called in with Friends on a Monday lunch time on the way back from Devon, not far off the a46 but in a nice rural location next to the river. A lovely outside area with plenty of tables . Although quiet ( it was a Monday lunchtime) it had a nice relaxed atmosphere. Service was spot on and the food (I had the belly pork) was really well presented and very tasty. If your passing by, or looking for somewhere to eat out its well worth a visit!

Popped in for Monday night dinner. Staff were very friendly and food very tasty. We had the steak and Cajun chicken salad. Lovely setting by the river with a large garden that has the evening sun, would definitely recommend.

Lovely location next to River Arrow with big green area with picnic benches and kids play area. Some nice afternoon walks in the surrounding countryside and lovely to finish up with a drink in the evening sunshine in the pub garden, followed by an evening meal. Pub interior has been tastefully refurbished, and staff are friendly and helpful. Top-class food in the restaurant - beautifully presented and tasted amazing - up there with the best meals we've ever had.

Myself and 7 friends were staying nearby last weekend, and I suggested to go there for Sunday Lunch as I go to another pub where I live run by the same people and the food is so good ! We all had the Sunday Roasts and my friends all enjoyed them and said they were so delicious. The service was really good and nothing was too much trouble ! Just had a lovely mother's day meal at the fish at wixford. Professional and friendly service throughout. We had roast beef, and also fish and chips, all meals were excellent, some of the nicest food we've ever had at a pub. New owners have done a very good job of interior decoration, much improved on previous years. We will definitely be returning. Just how a pub and restaurant should be run.

Was in the area unexpectedly for the weekend and found this restaurant using Google and what a result We popped in for lunch on Saturday and the food was fantastic. I had the fish and chips and they were spot on. Not feeling mushy peas but I was in the North I guess lol It was so nice we asked if they had any space for the Sunday roast and they fitted us in If anything, the Sunday roast was even better. Meat was cooked to perfection as were everything else Quality pub 👏👏

So cold , we are with our coats on Such a shame as food was nice ! Atmosphere - none as no one else there , We won’t be going again . It would have been nice if they had rung us to say te heating had broken down . Since then I have had conversations with a couple of people & they have said the same ! They have also said they will not be returning . I think the heating is not put on , not broken !

Quiet lunch with beer. Lovely.

First time trying since new owners, food was lovely, I ordered the BLT on a ciabatta and it was the nicest BLT I've ever had, ciabatta was really big and so soft, rosemary fries were also lovely. Dad ordered the burger and he said it was very good too. Friendly staff, we felt extremely welcome :) We will definitely be back!

Food came quickly and was tasty.

We left the car in the car park (after checking first) and walked for a couple of hours before returning for a wonderful lunch. We both chose from the lunchtime menu which at £15.50 seemed like a pretty good deal. The houmous starter was probably the star dish; by far the best I have ever had. Sausage and mash, fish and chips and sticky toffee pudding completed the meal. All of them very good. Rosemary chips (from real potatoes!) were a great surprise. Staff were very helpful and made a fuss of our small dog. The only pity was that the two cask ales were not yet ready, (a definite 5 star otherwise) but on a dull Wednesday in November I can't imagine trade is too brisk. Plenty of other beers were available, including a coupe of non-alcoholic offerings. It's quite a long way from home so I don't expect we'll be back anytime soon, but on the evidence of this lunchtime the new management deserves to thrive. This is a terrific pub!
