Pub is nicely presented, tidy exterior and spotless indoors, feeling like it’s fresh from refurbishment, but sadly it seems more due to low patronage than upkeep. Very boring colour scheme and no personality/atmosphere, not helped by the out of date and overly loud juke box (no-one wanted to hear Katie Price and Peter Andre sing when they were somewhat relevant - walking in to be greeted by their caterwauling in 2024 should be considered assault!) means that there’s no such thing as a warm welcome, just a bit of a beige space to eat your boring dinner. Will never understand why, in a village with two excellent Indian restaurants within a couple of minutes walk, this place decided to serve Indian food as well, especially as they’re not really very good at it. Have had food from here a couple of times since living in the village, and it’s always been bland and pricey for the low quality. Recently went with friends who chose it against my advice and paid £19 for half a dozen prawns in some tomato soup (not a curry sauce in the slightest, and I say that as someone who adds extra cream to most kormas) with soggy chips and flat Pepsi. We were a party of eight, and on an evening with only two other tables eating that we could see, our food was delivered over 25 minutes, meaning that some of our party were almost finished before others had even been served. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful when serving us, but they seemed to be in a state of oversupply, servers looking quite bored and hovering aimlessly around. There was also red headed lady who I would guess is a manager - again, very pleasant on interaction but has a very odd and overdone pub landlady persona, coupled with some awful shrilling that I think was meant to be singing and was quite irritating. A real shame that this place isn’t offering a nice country pub menu, or at least something different to the far superior and better established other local venues. For a bland and boring experience, go here, for great Indian food try Voujon or the Massala Club, for great atmosphere…don’t bother with Stonnall.

Stayed with a friend who I was walking Hadrians Wall with. Great place - nice staff lovely evening meal, good local beer and wonderful breakfast. Importantly, an effective, polite, well considered and low key approach to Covid - so refreshing after some really weirdly experiences elsewhere on the walk!

We have been going to this wonderful pub for a few years now, some times just my wife and I or sometimes as a family with the Grandchildren, magical well cooked food , great service and hosting, lovely garden when the weather is dry, well worth a visit, Well Done !

This place is quite simply brilliant. It's classy, it's quirky, it's fun and - for what it is - it is not at all expensive. Greeted warmly at the door, shown to a table, great drinks menu and table service from friendly and efficient staff. Everything was slick and professional whilst being super friendly. Beautifully decorated and furnished room and with the perfect music it felt like we were in an up-market Chicago speakeasy in the days of prohibition. We only went in for one quick drink but ended up staying for three whilst working out how we could find an excuse to come back to Lichfield in order to revisit The Spiritualist.

Fabulous service and great fish & chips. Slightly more expensive than our local chippy but portions are extremely generous so we felt good value for money. We especially liked the homemade tartar sauce. Will definitely visit again when passing through on the canal. Menu looked great

Visited Poms for brunch in a small group. The food was decent and service ok, however the prices are absolutely eye watering for what you get. Our eggs had bits of shell in and the breakfast components were all pretty standard - not a big issue, but made it really hard to justify the price.

Had a Bottomless brunch here this weekend. The drinks are 100% watered down or the vodka mentioned in the cocktail description is literally a drop of vodka and not a full shot. I did mention to one of the staff that I couldn’t taste any alcohol but I was told they are full measures. I’m sure the reply to my review will be that the drinks have full measures of spirits in them but I am sorry that is definitely not the case. If they were full measures, why wasn’t I feeling a buzz after 4 or 5 drinks? 🤣 The food was nice but I was put off after seeing the kitchen staff touch their faces and hair. The brownie was delicious. The girl with blond and black hair needs training on customer service.

The lunch for five took far too long and they were not hot enough. I waited to complain at the bar but no-one was available and my lunch was getting colder. On telling the barman that the meal wasn't hot enough when he collected the plates he said he would tell the chef. A free drink might have been offered. Surely if the plates themselves had been hotter in the first place this would have kept the meals hotter.
