Stayed with a friend who I was walking Hadrians Wall with. Great place - nice staff lovely evening meal, good local beer and wonderful breakfast. Importantly, an effective, polite, well considered and low key approach to Covid - so refreshing after some really weirdly experiences elsewhere on the walk!

Popped in for lunch with the grandkids as they are dog friendly. Kids had sausage and mash, one wouldn’t eat his sausage as it was burnt ( it had split its skin and the end was crunchy and over cooked, I didn’t mention it as it’s hard enough keeping them quite ) my wife and I shared the baked Camembert, nice but only two very small pieces of bread. My main issue is the price of drinks, £8.50 for a large glass of house Pinot Grigio this is central London wine bar price, We paid £5.35 in another gastro pub in the area today. I had a elderflower drink, @£3 I paid £2.15 for exactly the same brand drink today, almost 40% more. I appreciate there is the Hjem fine dining on the premises but we were in a simple bar area.

We stayed for a night as a family, as we were walking Hadrian’s Wall. They had only just opened post Covid and couldn’t have been friendlier. They had just the right amount of virus precautions in place- no masks (thank goodness) but sensible hand sanitiser and a good system of serving and clearing tables.

We stayed for one night at Hadrian Hotel with our pug, on our way up to Scotland. Our room was basic but clean with a good shower. The food was very tasty and good value for money - it was Sunday so the menu was limited to a roast but that was fine. Breakfast was good also and the staff were friendly and accommodating and our dog felt very welcome. Overall, a good stay.

Was staying in the hotel, so went here for dinner. As it was a Sunday, they weren’t offering their full menu so was disappointed to see only a few choices. However, we both chose the Sunday roast and it was of a very high quality. Good amount of meat, veg and potatoes. A fun extra was it was brought to us by a man wearing white gloves!! The staff didn’t seem that interested in working. One just stood at the bar chatting and having a drink! But it was still fast service and didn’t really effect us so wasn’t a big issue. Overall, the Hadrian’s FOOD exceeded our expectations and I would definitely recommend the Sunday roast. Not sure about the rest of it though.

I enjoyed an overnight stay at The Hadrian on the final leg of a walk along Hadrian's Wall. The pub,in the aptly-named village of Wall (most of the houses seem to have been built from its stone) has clearly had a recent refurbishment, and manages the tricky balancing act of combining a local pub with accommodation for walkers and other visitors. My room, under the eaves, was very comfortable, and after a hot shower I was ready to sample the bar menu. My choice - mushroom strudel with pine nuts and spinach - was superb. Clearly homemade, absolutely delicious. I washed it down with a couple of pints from the microbrewery of The Hadrian's sister pub, the wonderfully named Twice Brewed Inn. After that, a good night's sleep in a comfy bed, and a delicious breakfast next morning. Recommended.

Stayed here whilst doing the Hadrian's Wall walk. Staff friendly and food good, only down side from a walker's point of view was that breakfast was only served from 8.30am onwards unless you wished to take away a breakfast snack. The hotel is ungoing refurbishment , it is a sister hotel to Twice Brewwed Inn. Our room was smart if a little cramped for space, and had been recently modernised with an attractive bathroom. The fire exit light above our room exit was extremely bright which my affect those who prefer to sleep in a dark ed room.

Lovely dog friendly hotel just off the path of hadrians wall. Stayed here for one and night and were very impressed - the staff were friendly and accommodating, evening meal was excellent, and the room was nice (the shower was amazing and the pillows were fantastic). However we did request a twin room and were given a double which was not ideal, but the bed was quite wide so we made do! Delicious cooked breakfast and they also provided a good packed lunch for the walk ahead. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to friends.

Had read recently that the Hadrian was under new ownership so the five of us decided to give it a go. We had the option of sitting in the bar area or the restaurant. Could have sat in both in truth and been quite happy. Good range of real ales on and was offered a tipple of any one. We liked the bar area, which is in two rooms, felt that the pool table dominated the immediate bar area but this is a quietly run bar where the locals and visitors sit nicely side by side. The menu was very comprehensive and six quid or so would get you a vast array of well thought out starters, The Hadrian do not down size on meals, they were great in every respect. Mains ranged from £9 upwards to £15. You could also have a larger starter as a mains. The main courses were equally comprehensive and were accompanied by a large tray of well cooked vegetables at no extra cost. Some of us had room for a sweet, the "small" cheeseboard was actually huge! A great night, staff were helpful throughout..well done. The restaurant that night included families visiting Hadrians Wall and a nearby golf course. An ideal location to see Northumberland at its best!

Stopped at Wall on the off chance. Always a a worry when needing to eat gluten free, but the staff were keen to help. Had a delicious meal of sea bass with assorted vegetables, beautiful flavours. My wife's cod and chips were hearty and good too. All at a reasonable price, in lovely weather and in a beautiful area.

Malt shovel has now been serving food on a Sunday for a few weeks now and had heard good things about it as I live in the village. Daughter and partner came over on Sunday to give it a go. Good job I booked on the Wednesday before as fully booked when we went in. Was a lovely atmosphere with a birthday party taking place. We were seated at our table ordered drinks which were promptly bought to us. Guinness was superb. Looked at menu and 3 things on there . Beef ,Pork, and for the vegetarians Nut roast. Well we all had 1 of each so a great way ao judge all the food. I had the beef which was cooked to perfection for me being red in middle and oh so tender. Came with mash roasting cauliflower cheese and vegetables came in separate dishes and the cauliflower cheese was 1 of the best I have had . Lovely meal my daughter had the Nut roast . She isn't a vegetarian as she asked if they would put a pig in blanket on ther to which they obliged. Another excellent meal and I would certainly not hesitate in having a Nut roast. It was interesting to taste the difference in my roast potatoes and hers due to the different fat they were cooked in. And her partner had the Pork again which came with all the trimmings and crackling too. He commented how lovely that was too. Well we were not really hungry enough for a sweet but unfortunately 😕 there was Knickerbocker glory on the Menu 😛 so it had to be done and so glad we did. Was superb just reminded me of being a lad again being treated by my parents. Tinned fruit in Jelly and cream and icecream 🍦 made my day. All in all a lovely experience and will be eating there again. The night before Saturday wS there 1st night of serving food . Heard good reviews about that too so next meal probably on a Saturday evening.
