Lovely lunch with friends. We spent nearly 4 hours here catching up and we weren’t rushed but were looked after very well! Fab food, great service. Definitely be back.

Having been very disappointed with the local pubs in the area we gave The Green Man a try. We had a fantastic afternoon and made sure our Mum and Dad came to join us, as they feel exactly the same. We will definitely be returning. Fabulous local! If you’re looking for something more, then give it a try!!!

Visited here for Sunday lunch, been here before and the food has always been good however Sunday lunch did not live up to the standard expected. Rib eye supplement was full of gristle and under seasoned. Roast lamb was braised and rolled rather than a traditional slice. Veg was all very tasty but gravy had a slight tinny taste. Service was ok it was busy so expected to wait a little. Wouldn’t rush back for Sunday lunch. However a lovely pub in a lovely area.

Stopped off on the way to York , only 10 mins off the M42. Hadn’t been for over 30 years. Wasn’t disappointed , food was amazing, great service. Staff were very attentive. Friday night Pie night is a must !!! We be back soon.

The story goes that in 1770 whilst attending a late-night card game, John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, requested that his meat be placed between two slices of bread so he could eat without getting his cards greasy. Little did he know what he had started and that it would lead to the most creative and fulfilling food imaginable, food you can find at the Greenman. And it doesn't and shouldn't mean meat only fillings. I was torn between fish fingers or brie and red onion chutney - decisions decisions! Eventually choosing the latter with hand cut chips. Well I can certainly tell you one thing - don't play cards at the same time! The plate was huge enough to sustain the biggest of lunch time appetites and tasted just wonderful. Highly reccomend.

Slightly Expensive for a Village Pub -This is my 4th visit and the service is very good. I rather think the food is overpriced, although it tasted great and is presented lovely and tasted delicious. We were sat by the window and all we could hear was a very distressed dog howling which wasn't nice at all. I did raise this with the Bar Manager because it was upsetting, who took this on board and it seemed to go quiet for a while. (not for long though and it was upsetting) Back to the food, i didn't have a desert, my friends did and it was delicious they said. The 10% cover charge i think is wrong!!! I like to leave a tip for good service and the young lady who served us was impeccable and delivered a great service, we would have tipped her of course, but the 10% Cover Charge seen to that one. Not sure i will be back to eat there as i mentioned £32.00 for a Steak is a little bit steep in a village Pub.

We came as the pub reopened and had an amazing meal. We were celebrating 40 years of being a couple (starting at this location) so decided to come back to celebrate here. The food was, to our opinion, overpriced and the compulsory service charge unwanted. We always tip when it is warranted, but don’t like it when it is put on the bill without an opt out. The food was ok, but we felt expensive for what we were given. We have had many much better meals at the White Lion at Harlaston

Local specialties, served in a location where time stands still. Friendly staff, impeccable service, more than generous portions, divine taste. I will come back anytime without hesitation, I recommend without hesitation. Well done, keep it up.

Booked for my birthday after a friend recommended It was a Friday night . We ordered the starters of scotch egg and the mushrooms - waited 45 minutes for these and a further 20 minutes for the ribeye steak mains.. the steak wasn’t particularly hot . Had tge cheesecake and lemon meringue pie for dessert - the meringue was raw .. The place was heaving and v noisy Having been told it was a lovely place to eat I’d think twice about returning .

I popped in for a solo lunch today and it was lovely! I sat in the bar area enjoyed an incredible steak sandwich with a side of chips and wow! It was delicious!! Had to have a coffee, which was also wonderful, to keep myself from falling asleep after over indulging on the food! Despite a couple of bigger tables in the dining area I didn’t have to wait long at all for my food A really great experience with a friendly atmosphere and helpful team. Will be back again soon 😊

Disappointing all round. The food quality was poor to average, very rowdy atmosphere with a hint of cannabis smoking coming in from the back door. The service was nothing special so was surprised to see that they had already put a £16 non-optional tip onto the bill total, whether you thought the service and food was tip worthy or not.

Lovely stop-off enroute to Wales from Norfolk. Coffee and food were delicious, especially the pork pie. The pub is very stylishly decorated, including the toilets! Lots of parking, perfect for our motorbike.

What a smashing, positively dashing Spectacle: Ascot Ladies Day at the GM At the gate are all the horses Waiting for the cue to fly away. What a gripping, absolutely ripping moment at the Ascot Ladies day. Pulses rushing! Faces flushing! Heartbeats speed up! I have never been so keyed up! Any second now They'll begin to run. Hark! A bell is ringing, They are springing forward look! It has begun...! What a frenzied moment that was! Didn't they maintain an exhausting pace? ' Twas a thrilling, absolutely chilling running of the GM's opening Ascot Ladies Day race (Lerner & Lowe) But of course in the film they couldn't go on to show what a fabulous three course lunch was enjoyed by our party that day started with sparkling champagne and ended with a sumptuous dessert. And the equally splendid afternoon tea that easily might have graced the Ritz Hotel! Most of all, a massive shout out to our friend Val whose brilliant organisation made the day possible and beg she does the same thing for us next year. Finally to the ever attentive staff of the Greenman thank you , and as they sing in the film " I've grown accustomed to your place" so roll on 2025!

Attended this beautiful rural pub for an Ascot Ladies’ Day and was spoiled the whole Day! The set dinner was impressive with each course cooked to perfection. The pub itself has been tastefully renovated and the outdoor areas lend themselves to lazy days in the sun, lounging, grazing and enjoying some drinks with friends and family. Loved it so much, I returned the very next day with my family. The children were kept busy with swing tennis and football outside while we tucked into the melt in your mouth pan fried Fillet of Beef - worth every penny! We look forward to sampling the Sunday menu and wish the owners and management team the very best of luck with this gem of a pub.

Six of us visited The Green Man today. We had a warm welcome, was waited on by a lovely young lady, food was superb, even though we had a bit of a wait as it was very busy, it was worth waiting for. Delicious Fish and Chips, Pie and Club Sandwich. Would highly recommend a visit to this lovely Pub!

Had the most amazing roast dinner! My boyfriend had lamb, I had the mushroom Wellington. For starters we had Parmesan asparagus and duck pastrami. Everything was amazing including the service, price, and drinks. Would highly recommend thank you for a lovely afternoon!

Popped in The Green Man for a quick drink and lunch. The food was great and we can recommend the TGM club sandwich. The weather was lovely so we were able to sit outside in the beer garden. Definitely be returning.

This is our third visit and definitely won't be our last. We made a change to our booking time at the last minute and as a party of 7, appreciated this isn't always easy to accommodate. The staff were very helpful and obliging. Everyone enjoyed the food, wine, ambience, and service with a smile as always. Beautifully presented meals. The rear outdoor area has been done since our last visit, and that was impressive. It will be lovely in the summer to have a drink outside.

Had a first class Sunday roast along with a friendly efficient service we will be back again and would highly recommend

We had 2 adult Sunday roasts, which were lovely and very generous with the portion size. The food is locally sourced and beautifully presented. We had our children with us and what's great about The Green Man is the options. Their normal children's menu (which is very lovely and reasonably priced) is still available or there is the option to have a half size of one of the roasts. So something for all taste buds. To finish we had wonderful desserts - which in the words of our children "best puddings ever" The service is excellent and the atmosphere is lovely. Can't recommend enough and will be visiting again soon.

Called in for lunch on Saturday and what a gem of a pub! The food was absolutely excellent. You can really tell everything is home made. Service was really great, the staff were really friendly and attentive, we couldn’t have had a better experience. We were also informed it was independently owned as well which we didn’t realise as we’re not from the area, it’s so refreshing to go somewhere that’s not a chain and to support an independent business. Can’t wait to go back when next over this way!

I booked a large table for my family for an 80th birthday celebration 2 months before the event, and was told I would need to pay a deposit and someone would get back to me, but heard nothing for weeks. This was the first problem, since having not been contacted for this I was worried our booking was not secure and it took several voicemails and an email to prompt a response. There was no apology given for this inconvenience. I should have heeded the red flag and looked to eat elsewhere, but alas... On the day there were further issues. On arrival I was told our booking of 16 was too big for the restaurant and we had been split across two smaller tables. We said this was unacceptable and the staff suddenly found a way to extend one table to accommodate all of us, which to my bemusement fit very comfortably along the wall and caused no obstruction at all. Bizarre. Next, the very limited lunch menu we were presented was not the same as any of the menus on the website. You can call this false advertising if you like, and I certainly would, especially considering my partner and I are vegan and the only option on the website - roasted beetroot with squash - sounded very nice and this safe bet was the reason I booked for us in the first place, but all that was available to us on the day was a mushroom burger (I can't eat mushrooms) and a "superfood" salad with optional added butternut squash. This might not seem so bad, but the meal that was handed to us was frankly insulting: a huge bowl of lettuce with a few bits of tomato, cucumber and onion, a sprinkle of pumpkin seed and a paltry amount of watery dressing. Oh, and they didn't have any squash so this was substituted with a few slivers of grated carrot!! Superfood salad should have things like quinoa, avocado, broccoli, nuts and pomegranate. What we got was close to rabbit food and was so bland and insubstantial I couldn't even finish it and had to eat again when I got home to fill me up. If this is what you're serving vegans in 2024 you seriously need to have a word with your chef. When it came to dessert we were then told one of the two main options (which weren't just gelato or cheeses) wasn't available as they were still setting in the fridge. Guys, this table was booked over 2 months ago and you're seriously this under prepared? The staff awkwardly told us it's because everything is made fresh, they're short staffed and things hadn't been done in time but given the notice ahead of this booking I find this unacceptable. None of us would have cared if the dessert had been prepared the day before but instead you opted to give us further disappointment. My only dessert option was a couple of scoops of vegan ice cream but at this point I thought it foolish to expect anything more exciting than this. The restaurant was not busy at all during our visit and yet despite the very polite waiting staff doing their best we felt like an afterthought throughout the meal. It is very fortunate that we were in good spirits for the occasion and that my two grandparents - whose birthday it was - thoroughly enjoyed their food, otherwise I would have been asking for money off the bill. They had a lovely time which is what matters most to me, but personally I thought it was a big disappointment.

What an amazing find! We went on a Tuesday night, family of 7. The food was exceptional. We had olives and various mains/desserts. The pork belly and scallops were off the charts, my nephews all had a pizza each. My husband had fillet steak which was cooked to perfection. My sister in-law both had the mini dessert and a passionfruit cocktail. The waitresses were super lovely and all in all a wonderful place. I would highly recommend!

Went for lunch today - absolutely fabulous 👌 food was excellent. Great menu. Portions huge. Would definitely recommend. Love the bar area too with log burner. Food was not too quick at coming out but that's because it was all freshly cooked and actually was very busy for a Wednesday lunch time, but absolutely worth the wait and great to just relax and not be rushed. Triple cooked chips were delicious and huge (easily shareable) pudding was delicious too. Fabulous place love all the attention to detail. Beautifully designed and decorated. Love the beams and log burner, lovely county pub, the village is very lucky to have such a fantastic pub on their doorstep. Can't say anything negative at all. Well worth a visit x

I visited the Green Man pub this evening with my partner and two friends. The recent facelift has truly transformed the place while preserving its old-world charm. Not only does the pub retain its character, but the delicious food and fantastic customer service make for an unforgettable experience. We had the Scotch Eggs and Seafood Selection for starter and steaks, duck leg and vegetarian cannelloni for mains. Beautifully presented dishes using locally sourced ingredients all added to our exceptional experience. A must-visit for anyone looking for a taste of history with a modern twist! Highly recommend!

The Green Man a dog welcome pub, amazing place the staff are very welcoming and helpful. They have a beautiful restaurant area seperate to the bar area, seating in the bar is very nice and comfortable. The food is lovely and well presented, a must try. I had the fish finger sandwich with a side of chips.... fantastic. Good selection of ales and largers and looks like they are building a garden area to the rear, bring on the summer. Well for one thing they gave us the philosopher Epictetus who, over 2000 years ago, said " A man cannot step into the same river twice as he is no longer the same man neither is it the same river" , emphasing life being constant change. This is like going back to the Greenman, you want it to be the same as you remember but it's not, it's changed, it's got even better! How can this possibly be! ? Well for one thing it's only been open for less than 100 days and in that time the management and staff have built and maintained a brilliant "dining out" experience, one that stays in the memory long after the cost is forgotten.  And another is the more times you return the more you become better acquainted with the individuals I speak of. You start to feel part of the place and know you can trust in them to always let you leave having had an memorable time and with a great sense of belonging to a rural community not an anonymous chain. But sadly it's also true that there are people who may not make that connection and therefore find some aspect of their experience not to their liking. Regrettable for them however that's life. And what of the next 100 days? Let me leave you with this; "No great thing is created suddenly, any more than a bunch of grapes or a fig. If you tell me that you desire a fig, I answer that there must be time. Let it first blossom, then bear fruit, then ripen.” ― Epictetus

Only ever leave reviews if it’s beyond good or not good at all! This was beyond good .. Sunday roast! The BEST … second time we have been now and couldn’t fault it - took extra family with us this time and you’ve impressed them as much as us! Staff are lovely! Only thing I would say is would love option of custard with sticky toffee pudding. This place is now our new favourite! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Visited for the first time today as a group of six to celebrate Mother’s Day. Lovely atmosphere in a traditional pub that’s been sympathetically renovated. We had service with a smile, the food was outstanding, and overall good value for money. I’d heard great reviews, and was delighted our visit lived up to expectations. Thrilled to have such an excellent pub so close by.

We celebrated my partners birthday at this very quaint village pub. We were a large party and they managed to fit us in. We found The service to be really good and the food was absolutely 10/10. We will definitely be visiting again and would have no hesitation to recommend to all our friends and families.

The best ‘pub meal’ we’ve ever had. Standards were so much higher than we could have anticipated for a larger party size of 8. Amazing menu, perfectly executed, tasted delicious, with brilliant service to add. Thank you, we love visiting our new ‘local’.

Great place for just a drink or a meal, great atmosphere, very friendly

Most people have times in their lives when they feel like my piece of last Saturday nights cod at the Greenman - well and truly battered! But they also know they'll get over it and eventually feel better. Unlike my piece of cod that couldn't be bettered. Fine white chunks of fish coated in beer batter. Not just any old beer but draught Bass, what could be better? Served with proper chunky chips followed by sticky toffee pudding I just knew I had just put on ten pounds by the time I left. But who cares? It's the middle of Winter we all need comforting food and this is it. Go try it! And when you do give a moments thought to the Atlantic trawler men out there in freezing rain also getting battered and everyone else involved in the food chain bringing you this nourishing piece of picean heaven and you have to agree it's worth every single penny.

Absolutly fantastic! My partner and I visited last night for the first time, lovely feel about the place. Very busy for a Wednesday which was a positive sign. Staff - excellent! Food - excellent. We both had the Ribeye steak which was delicious, the cheesecake was amazing and we cannot wait to return. Definitely recommend! 10/10 from us.

The Greenman in Clifton Campville is seriously upgraded and looking fab! The vibe is great, staff are top-notch, and the food is like a fancy restaurant sneaked into a pub menu - and yes the quality matches the menu! A must-visit for a laid-back yet upscale experience! It’s brought a much needed social pulse back into the village and I for one am here for it! Fully recommend to friends, family and beyond.

My first visit to this pleasant pub. Prices a bit above average . I felt too many tables had been crammed into the restaurant making it very noisy at times and stifling hot. Staff pleasant &helpful. Menu i felt bit limited.

Third visit to The Green Man and once again the food was excellent. Jack and his team are doing a wonderful job in making this country escape into a warm and welcoming place for food and drink. If you haven't been to The Green Man yet, then you are certainly missing a treat! Highly recommend!

Lovely setting, staff, decor and absolutely delicious food. Best mushroom soup I have ever tasted in my life! Tagliatelle was beautifully present and so tasty. Thoroughly recommend the Rare Malbec wine. Can’t tell you how good this place is for food and I can’t wait to go back again!

4 adults and a child for a midweek lunch. Booked online the same morning. The food was excellent - one of the best pies I think I’ve ever had. Everyone had empty plates. Service was friendly and attentive and there was a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant with about 5 or 6 other tables in for lunch.

Came for Sunday lunch and the food was devine…. I will defo be returning. If you don’t eat here I honestly think you are missing out! Staff were friendly, atmosphere was incredible and the new refurbishment is up to such a high standard!

Great place to eat and drink only the 10% service charge was a disappointment! We always tip! But don't like it added to the bill.

Christmas Day can mean different things to different people. In my case it's how can I swerve the stress of cooking a multi-course lunch for family and friends and just relax and enjoy myself on this special day? The perfect answer I have discovered is to book a table at the Green Man. And yes I was lucky enough to get seated and yes it costs more than the usual Sunday lunch but boy was it worth it! Having been a vegetarian for some decades I often find my alternative is pasta or rice, which means I don't get to enjoy the other vegetable trimmings of a "roast lunch". On the day my main of King oyster mushroom steak (with all the trimmings!) was truly manna from heaven! So I and my meat-eating friends revelled in five exquisite courses of beautifully cooked and presented food over many hours, in great company in a beautiful dining room and NO WASHING UP! Who would want it any other way? Can't wait to book for 2024, although we shall be visiting many times between now and then! Give it a try; we're sure you will enjoy it too

What a fantastic job they have done at refurbing this pub, lovely cozy bar with log burner, beautiful dining room and outside seating with new benches. We nipped in for a Sunday dinner, honestly one of the best Sunday dinners we have ever eaten, slow cooked beef brisket fell apart, gravy was really tasty, huge homemade yorky, just couldn’t fault it. The staff and new manager were really friendly, can’t wait to book again with friends.
