Been here a few times, was pretty bad food the first few times but I gave it the benefit of the doubt, the most recent time however was absolutely awful, the batter on the fish was horrendous, hard on the outside and soggy and undercooked on the inside, I suppose it's piss easy for this chippy with having absolutely no competition nearby, won't be returning.

Absolutely awful. Called in last night on the way home and i'd never used this chip shop before, heard such good things. Big mistake. The fish was the worst fish I've ever had. It had obviously been sat there and kept warm for a long time. It was so dry and I only had a bit it was so bad. The chips weren't great either, small and undercooked. We won't be using this chippy again. Shocking experience!

Good service with friendly staff. Fish was good size and well cooked. Chips just average, also too small, get a chipper that makes them bigger as others have said, 1inch long being the average is too small. The scampi is bought in and terrible, avoid at all costs. An average chippy, no more no less.

Normally love this place and gave a great review before. However went there on the 11/7/24 @ 4,45 ordered cod and chips , kebab meat and chips with curry sauce at a cost of £21.90 to be honest cod was fantastic, kebab meat was ok But the chips were the worse ive ever seen over cooked and rock hard. I don't live local so couldn't nip back. Not sure if these were re_heated from dinner time but they were awful 😕 Shame really as its kinda put me off going back.being fair they are normally bang on .

Simply great fish and chips. Recommended, you must try if you are in the area, you won't be dissapointed.

This chip shop was my favourite around this area and I wrote a great review a number of years ago. Now the quality of the food has changed unfortunately for the worse. I've been a few times recently and was very disappointed the fish and chips were very dry. Also it did not seem to be as fresh as it used to be the chips tasted like they were reheated from lunch.

I'm a.local and come here every week. I don't like a lot of chips so I'm happy they serve small portions.what can I say ? Never had a bad meal from here so it's 5 stars for me.

Very Good Chippy, generous portion sizes, and not badly priced. Absolutely perfect place to stop if you're on a Narrowboat, The Chippy is situated a couple of doors up from the Crown Inn., 5 Stars from this Old Boater 👍

Lovely Haddock fresh and very thick had reg chips there were plenty for two of us. Very friendly staff will definitely be having them again.when back here on the canal.

Disgusting. About a kilo of chips. Fish freshly cooked (long wait for haddock) but oozing grease. Batter flat and solid. Ugh! Felt sick after eating. Worst fish and chips I've had in months. Avoid.

This is the third time that we have had a fish and chip delivery to Manor Park Sailing Club. The result again, was 20 happy sailors, after a punctual hot delivery at 18.30 and a beautiful meal of fish and chips. There was also some curry sauce and jumbo sausages. Not a chip leftover.

Great food. Can take it in the pub garden next door to eat with a beer or two. Always a small queue but moves really quickly to get served. Recommended.

Best Fish and Chips I've ever tasted highly recommended

It's becoming increasingly difficult to find a good chippy these days. Most sell greasy, soggy and poor chips, soggy fish etc. Not Michael's.....the first time I had these was on the way back home and they were delicious. I've been back a few times now even though it's a fair drive away (half an hour) but it's worth it because they just beat all the rest hands down! I tried the fish last time and it was beautiful. Please don't stop whatever it is you're doing because it's working!!

Moored up on my narrowboat, specifically to buy lunch at this chippy, based on endless positive reviews. Fish and chips were even better than expected - and my expectations were high. Outstanding quality and absolutely enormous portions!

Beautiful fish and chips only a short walk from the canal, what a treasure compared with the over priced and over packaged but under cooked excuse that some pass as a meal. Will definitely call in every time we pass through. The staff were friendly and courteous.6 stars

A nice little fish and chip shop near the canal. They were busy both times I visited. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Both my fish and then next time my battered sausage were lovely. Got lots of chips. My only small gripe was the chips could have been better. Lots of small scraps.

The best cod and chips I've had, the batter was lovely and crisp and not too greasy. There was a queue but that was only because we were waiting for the fish to finish frying.

Michael's Fish Bar is without doubt the best chippie around. I know many people that travel from outside the area, to shop here. Kebabs are superb and the traditional cod and chips is simply the best. Great staff too.
