Great cocktails and friendly staff

Absolutely fantastic the service was amazing and drinks were great nice chilled place overall great night out will definitely be returning Definitely recommend the smokehouse whisky 🥃

Visited the Spiritualist yesterday early evening for cocktails with friends. Sat upstairs for a bit first but then moved to the garden. Nothing was too much trouble for the lovely Jack, who kept the drinks coming and indulged us with requests for outside heating and music. The cocktails were really good and priced as expected with some 2 for £14 offers (a limited selection but an excellent range, something for every taste). The wider cocktail menu included the classics but also many more unusual, signature cocktails. I can particularly recommend the Disarrono Sour and Strawberry and Elderflower Mojito! Friends enjoyed mezcal amongst other drinks. The menu is extensive with a huge selection of gins, rums, vodkas, whiskey and bourbon. We were there for a few hours and the bill came to less than £25 each, hugely reasonable for several cocktails! I loved the electro swing music too, perfect for a cocktail bar, along with table service (no waiting for ages at the bar for cocktails to be made) :-) Definitely will be visiting again, hopefully next time we're in Lichfield. Visited this bar yesterday 11/05/2024 early evening. Hadn’t booked a table but was taken to an available one immediately. Service was fab with a great friendly atmosphere and the cocktails were amazing. Not cheap but is anything in this day and age and my motto is you get what you pay for. Went with my husband and friends. Will definitely be back with the girlies

The covered outdoor seating area of The Spiritualist pub in Lichfield taken yesterda: Seating: There are fixed tables and comfortable benches, made of wood on a raised platform with comfy weatherproof cushions. Roof covering: Is made of wood and clear material to allow some natural light. Heating: There are patio heaters to provide warmth during cooler hours. Decor: The added lights, neon sign, wall and roof hanging plants create a cozy ambiance. Privacy: Divider screens between seating areas give a more intimate VIP booth feel. Prebook outdoor tables 50 to 54. Multi floor indoor seating also available. Wonderful, inviting and knowledgeable staff and manager made us feel welcome and valued. First class drinks menu or ask the professional bartenders to make you a custom drink to your taste. We love it here. No reason you won't too.

This was the highlight of the night!! The staff (on a quiet Weds night) made you feel like the only people in the world! Admittedly 2 x 20 something’s made me feel like they were more together than us whilst making sure a birthday meal and drinks were so inviting we came back after our meal and ended up staying for a few!!! Best mojito since Cuba!!! And the staff were welcoming, chatty but not in your face! Can’t wait to bring people and pretend we discovered it! If I had £50k sitting in the bank I’d have taken them off to do a mobile cocktail bar!! I've hosted a lot of corporate events and if they could cater for 250 people I would have booked my next one with them with confidence!!! Lovely venue. Great cocktails and service. Comfortable mix of chairs and sofas. We were there on a late Sunday afternoon so it was quiet hence the atmosphere was not five stars. We will be back.

The Spiritualist is great! We booked a slot for NYE (would recommend booking a table as it can get busy) and we were looked after by Hannah who is wonderful! Drinks are AMAZING. There are some really unique concoctions, like drinks brought to you in smoking domes! I love the aesthetic of the whole place, it's like you've travelled back in time when you walk in, it's very steampunk with a hint of glitz and glamour. There aren't any vegan or vegetarian labels on the menu, but the makes of spirits and liquors are included, so a quick search on Barnivore should tell you what you need to know! Can't wait to come back ☺️

When we arrived we were show to a table upstairs in a room filled with large parties who were very loud. We asked if it was possible to be downstairs and this was done for us. Drinks were great although we felt they were small for the cost with a lot of ice. The atmosphere downstairs was lovely and staff were friendly and attentive.

My favourite local place in Lichfield to go for cocktails. Great wide menu with huge choices of spirits and the allowance to custom make your drink with the brands/flavours you prefer. While they will do all cocktails. I love that they do the more traditional alcohol forward drinks such as martinis as you can’t get these at most bars from the menu. Whenever I’ve visited we’ve always booked so never had an issue with seats. Only thing I would say if I had to be critical is that I love the downstairs vibe and seating choices whereas when we get put upstairs it’s a bit more bare and lacks the same type of decor.

Really great bar - friendly staff & really lovely different cocktails - can be alittle chilly if your sitting down stairs by the door this time of year - but upstairs was really warm & cosy - it is expensive - but quality & presentation is really amazing. A nice touch might be a little bowl of nibbles as a round for 4 is £40 - would recommend!

Love to give it a proper review, as we tried to visit the Spiritualist one Saturday evening, on entering we waited at the podium to be seated, one guy said he'd be back in a minute to seat us, another gentleman then asked if we had a reservation, but we said no, he said there was a 50 minute wait for a drink 🤣 so we didn't bother, even though they looked like they were plenty of spaces about, i think they have an upstairs seating area, but this was empty. It was probably the shopping bag i was holding for my girlfriend, that stopped us getting in, i think they only want a certain clientele in there bar, we went to Bitter Sweet instead, where we were greeted with welcoming smile, we will not be returning to the Spiritualist.

Slow service in between good rounds and one of the rounds was forgotten. No apologies until questioned.

Came here a few months ago. The atmosphere was ok, but the music wasn't really our thing, just kept playing swing music. The drinks were pretty average, I had an old fashioned that tasted like it had been stirred for all of 5 seconds. My partners drink was sickly sweet. The service was utterly bizarre. No one seemed to no what they were doing and everything took a long time. We all have off days, so I will return to give it another chance, as it actually does look like a nice place inside.

Service was very slow and there was a complete lack of acknowledgement from staff that it was slow between rounds. On one round a drink was forgotten and it was just thought to be fine.

Love stopping here for after dinner cocktails. Great selection and they are all expertly made and presented. Service is spot on too. Strongly recommended.

Wow! Such a lovely little place. The best Old Fashioned I've ever had, totally because they got the ice right! It makes such a softens when a place knows the right route of ice, glass and accompaniment to go in your drink. Not overpriced too, which is very uncommon these days. Great service. I'll be back!

First time here. Didn't realise it existed. Excellent atmosphere and ambience. Drinks decently priced. Will visit again and try the cocktails. Forget what I just said. Don't want it getting too busy and ruining it... ... It's rubbish.

Great experience for birthday drinks

Fantastic place to meet for drinks with friends. A great wide range of cocktails all made really well. Service was really good and atmosphere was just right.

A group of 8 of us went and were seated upstairs which we found very dark and felt a bit disjointed to the rest of the bar. Cocktails were ok but pricey.

Amazing location, great ambiance, attentive and friendly staff, cocktails and drinks were fabulous. The outside sitting is such a vibe. We will be going back there when I visit UK next time

This was my first visit and I can say it won’t be my last, a great little place the aesthetic were very pleasing to the eye and I loved the way the bar is set out, the drinks menu was plenty full with a large selection of cocktails, beers and spirits, they seem to only offer a table service and although the staff were all great we could have easily polished off several more rounds of drinks, obviously it takes time to make cocktails for a table of 8 but not as long to drink and we did find that we were waiting around to be served, at one point we ordering the following round as the rounds were being delivered however that said the staff were very friendly and I can’t fault the overall experience.

Super friendly staff, cocktails made from scratch rather than a lot of places that you can tell come out of a can or do a half arsed job. Decor is quirky and suits the theme. Music is a bit...rockabilly 40's fusion and could do with some folk or indie stuff that suits it more but that's easy to overlook. Lovely

The prices are reasonable for the quality of the drinks, making The Spiritualist my favourite option for a night tipple in Lichfield. Overall, The Spiritualist is a great spot for anyone looking for a stylish and sophisticated cocktail bar and restaurant in Lichfield. The cocktails are creative and well-crafted, the food is delicious and shareable, and the atmosphere is inviting and cozy.

Although I live in Lichfield, I had never visited this place as I have never properly noticed it from the front. However, I met a friend here on a Thursday evening a few weeks ago and I was very surprised by what a hidden gem this place is! We had some lovely, well priced cocktails and a wine to finish. We had a lovely young waitress with pink hair and tattoos who was just so smiley, chatty and accommodating. I am an English teacher and we had a lovely chat about her favourite literature! There was another young man on the bar who was also very friendly. Overall very impressed, we will be back to book in on a busier weekend I think!

Lovely building, same for the decor and lighting. Nice drinks selection. However, (personal opinion) I dont much care for having to be seated and have to order from the table. It kind of takes away the spirit of going out, especially we have come out of lock down. After coming here a few times before lockdown with boyfriend or friends, I remember it being so much better when it was fuller and livelier. I cannot say that I like being stuck in a 'sedate' sit down and order kind of place. I drink at a few other smaller bars in the area and they work at such a better level because they allow standing, and ordering from the bar. Of course they get full, but not to the extent that it becomes unpleasant. I think after my last visit that I wont go back, I didnt feel relaxed and I missed seeing folk come and go. My chum from London thought it was a strange kind of set up in a bad economic climate and asked if it was just a part time bar. Certainly, not only do we have to order from the table, it is impossible to work out how often or when it is open to the public. A real shame because I would have come here often had it been like it once was prior to the pandemic. But, that is my opinion and I know that many will disagree., and if you like a more controlled sedate atmos, then you will like it. If you like to stand at the bar and watch the world go by, and maybe bump into acquaintances, then maybe not so much.

A great place for evening drinks 🍻

I usually do what I call a "Saturday early doors" in Lichfield with friends and always call here for fab cocktails! Trouble is 1 becomes 2 which then become 3! I love the ambience of the place and it has a 1930s look about it - not that I'd know! Staff always on hand to answer any questions about the drinks and I have noticed Saturday afternoons are VERY popular!

Great cocktails, once they arrived! We finally ordered after about 15 minutes and then waited a further 25minutes for our drinks to arrive! Once our drinks had arrived, within minutes a waitress asked if everything was ok? Unfortunately this was the last we heard. We had 1 drink then went downstairs to pay. The cocktails were great! Shame about the lack of customer service. We would have had more to drink in there if the service had been better. We are now somewhere that actually appreciates our custom!

Visited with friends. Nice enough venue. Young staff were great. However, the manager was quite rude to a couple of nearby tables and I also heard how he spoke to his staff. Very rude and arrogant. Definitely put me off supporting this business.

Really fed up with this place for a few reasons. I arranged to have a small business meeting with someone a while back and did not realise that it didnt open on that day. So I stood outside in the rain waiting for my colleage to arrive, and then when my colleague did turn up, we had to go to a rather corporate bar down the road. I was wet and not happy. This is a bar that seems to open only on a few days a week. Also, when I did go back to visit, it felt rather lack lustre due to the way it is now organised, in as much as one now has to sit at a table and order whilst seated. Whilst this may have worked during the Covid year, it does not work now. The atmosphere is ruined by the lack of people coming and going and not being able to stand at a bar. The drinks are ok, but drinks are drinks. Not sure what the business model is of this bar but all I can say is if it is profitable to work part time, then maybe the other bars should copy because this place seems to be shut a lot of the time and not flexible in its approach when open. There are one or two similiar sized family owned bars in Lichfield, which I now go to instead of here, because they offer better options for customers.

Slowest service I have encountered in ages. Wasn't even busy. Afternoon service on a saturday. It's fine, not much else in this style in Lichfield.

Went here with my son in mid-week as I was staying across the street at the St. John's House. Popped in for a quick drink and ending up staying for several as we liked the decor, and we were chatting to the manager/properietor. It was a quiet mid-week night but the decor and drinks and he knowledge of what's on offer was great. My son is a mixologist in nearby Birmingham and he was impressed. It's not a place to go for beers (it's not their target customer) - it's a specialist boutique spirits & cocktails bar (no food) for those who want something a bit different from the regular pub experience.

Lovely and contemporary interior, nice variety of drinks. However, I can not give any more stars for the experience as it was tarnished by the managers somewhat confrontational/ arrogant service and complete lack of decent hospitality skills.

Was ok to begin with. But by accident we knocked and smashed one glass. Bar staff and a so called teen-manager in our faces demanding we pay for it. We had spent £140 in this place and they had the nerve to ask for £5 to cover a glass. No signs anywhere saying breakages must be paid for. Worst was we were accused of trying to steal the glass in a bag but as we clearly showed none of us had any bag. We were told very unpolitely to leave which was good as we were leaving anyway. Happy staff with smiles and love to take your money but attitude soon changes and verbally aggressive Don’t recommend at all if you want a relaxing evening with no staff attitudes.

Very ambient..stunning little place

What a hidden gem!! We’re made to feel extremely welcome by a guy called Taylor. Fitted us in and gave out good banter which is exactly what you want. Menu is great for drinks cannot comment on food but smelt amazing. Little on the expensive but for the services and presentation it’s worth it. Will 100% be back when we’re next in the area.

My husband is on chemo and we have been avoiding going out for so long. Been driving past this gem for a while but not been able to come in. Absolutely superb visit. Best espresso martini I ha e ever had and some great whiskeys and lagers on offer. Wonderful staff. Just loved it

What a absolute beautiful place, experience we had right from the very start the decor, vibe and atmosphere is inviting and relaxing. Waited like 20 sec before we was greeted by a lovely lady with glasses from behind the bar to seat us The service is excellent I must say, excellent communication skills and knowledge, I found that we was left to enjoy our evening and cocktails and whenever we needed anything, like anything the young blonde girl was there ready ( attention to body language) Can't knock it one bit, believe me! I'm watching everything when I'm out as I am from the Hospitality Trade, so it's a habit looking at it all happening lol 😂 So a Big well done team and to the manager you have trained and put together a great team you should be proud of yourself and them.

Wow, what a great place to chill and enjoy a quiet G&T. Loads of gin choice, waiter brings you a menu with a dizzying array of choice. Lovely dark, moody decor and lighting give the place a great atmosphere.

Lovely place for a drink, although a bit expensive ( around £8.50 for a double G&T).

If you like and appreciate your cocktails, this is not the place. Probably the worst Old Fashion I've had. Was literally bourbon on ice 😳 Long Island ice tea was marginally better. If you're new to cocktails it might seem like a treat or experience, an upgrade over wetherspoons. If you know and appreciate your cocktails, this place will not deliver.
