Friendly pub with nice customers and staff especially danni who is lovely and cooks very nice food and becky who is friendly and not too scary and a good quiz on Tuesday which is fun and good

Back again for the excellent quiz night. Had the Gammon and chips great value for money and very prompt service. Great Beers and friendly staff.

I live in Wigginton Village and its my local - I may have relocated a lot over the years but am delighted too live in Wigginton and the Crown is my local I love it, I love it not being busy, means its clean, tidy and no trouble ever.... Now summer is with us the beer garden over looks farm land and is such a relaxing place to unwind

Had a great meal there with family, excellent quality, and great value for money. Will definitely be visiting again. They have a great outdoor area, and lots of events on.

This used to be a great place to go for a meal, however, yesterday evening's meal was a disappointment. There were 6 of us having a meal, one of our party's food was so cool had to send it back and the other 5 of our meals were only warm not hot. Did mention it to the waitress but she didn't even apologise. The meal tasted OK but should have been hot. Believe there are new people running it, doubt we'll be back.

Great service, very friendly, food was fantastic. Lovely garden outside. Staff was polite and made sure we had everything we needed and came to the table to ask if wanted any drinks throughout our food and drinks. Will definitely be back again soon

Absolutely terrible £8.29 for a rock hard baguette with around 10 chips that had been either re fried or the oil hadn’t been changed in over a week . Nice pub but needs to sort out the quality of this meal . Rock had , discusting chips (the few that was on the plate ) no chives as stated on the menu on the baguette . Wasn’t even busy , no excuse for the dreadful food that was served I wasn’t going to make a fuss and complain just left most of it went home and done my own food . See photos they say it all .

Family Mothers Day lunch 6 Adults and 4 Children we had a great time the Food was excellent and plenty of it, the staff were very friendly and welcoming ten out of ten for Food and Great Service we will definitely be back can wait for the warmer weather so the children can play outside and we can all chill. Stumbled on this very British country pub by accident, but the best kind of accident, Easy parking leading to a warm and welcoming country pub, no pool tables or dart board no loud music or sky sports but very friendly and attentive staff and a very nice atmosphere from the room, We decided to stay for dinner even though we had actually booked else where by mistake (we did cancel) although quite late! Sorry It turned out to be the right decision, the food was excellent, no crap from the cash and carry just warmed up ! This was real home cooking very tasty and well presented and at a very reasonable price, We will be back with friends for sure

Came here with my children, the food was fabulous. Really friendly staff. Kids loved playing in the huge field, the garden of the evening was lit up beautifully was like being on holiday. Didnt have to wait too long for our food. There was 2 staff behind the bar so wait time was only a few minutes. I will definitely go back. Really enjoyed ourselves.

What an amazingly friendly group of staff. Just moved to the village last week and Beth, Mike, Becky, Sidney and Donna have been so welcoming especially with the dog as well. Proper local pub, great beers and so welcoming, a credit to all of the staff.

Sunday lunch set price for a table of five. The pub was not that busy but we had to wait over an hour for the meal to be served. The food was less than good. One veg option was cauliflower tart. When it was delivered it was two very black over cooked tarts that the waiter couldnt tell us what they were. They were then described as Brie. tasteless. Not worth the money. Originally we were offered turkey, beef or half a chicken. Some time after they told us there was no turkey on that day. The half a chicken was over cooked and dry. The vegetables although a variety was a sprout, a piece of broccoli and over cooked mashed other veg. Three tiny roast potatoes and a packet yorkie. I had a dessert which again took a while to arrive, the jam sponge was very nice but it was brought with a jug of custard which had a small amount of nuked custard in the bottom (leftovers) and the jug was dirty on the outside. Again another wait whilst another jug was presented by which time the sponge was lukewarm. Liqueur coffees turned out to be normal coffee with a shot of booze The waitress at the end asked if everything was ok. No was the answer but she didnt return. As its pay on order we just decided to quit. All in all not good. Will not return. Waiting staff should be aware of whats on the menu for that day. New chef required.

Had a few drinks and a Burger. Great service and the meal tasted excellent. Would definitely recommend if you're passing by. Sat outside in the garden after and the surrounding area is beautiful.

What a delightful friendly village pub. We stopped here for dinner on our way home through Tamworth visiting family,,,my fish and chips was beautiful, my daughter really enjoyed her salad bowel and grandchildren loved their chicken and beef burgers. The outside are is also stunning and well kept.

Hit and miss when this pub opens and when it does last orders are at 10pm. Rude manager who can’t be bothered to work or show his face in the pub half the time and dishes his orders via phoning down to his staff. Shame a lot of regulars have gone elsewhere .

Amazing Sunday roast. Huge portions and totally delicious. The staff who served the 4 of us were amazing, so polite and helpful. Very reasonably priced as well at £9.95. Definitely worth trying.

We came to watch Utopia and see what this new place was like!Wow this was an exceptional fig and wished they’d been outdoors as expected. BUT…… was still amazing they should do a whole evening outside festival like….was good and the beer food ambience brilliant!

Visited this wonderful establishment for a much needed weekend socialising with friends. We were allowed to camp on the large field at the rear of the pub and a large tea urn and electricity was made availablebso we could make hot drinks for when the pub was closed. The Landlord couldn't have been more accommodating and ensured our stay was hassle free.Catering for a party of up to 16 people is never easy and a delay in serving because be of dfferent menu choices could be ə bxpected but this was NOT the case at The Old Crown. Everything was served sermlessly, freshly cooked, hot and without delay so the whole party were able to start nd enjoy their superbly cooked delicious meals together. Breakfast was the same experience and faultles all food being reasonably price and excellent quality, testimony to that being everyone left empty plateswith no on wanting for more. Highly recommend this establishment for any event be it a meal, a wedding or like ours a weekend camping and socialising. A wonderful asset in an amazing setting - and well behaved dogs are welcome too.

Visited today for lunch and was welcomed by lovely Manager and lady Chef and the pub was tidy;clean,covid safe and inviting!sat outside and Manager brought menus and we had light bites from the daytime menu which was sufficient. Chips were the best I’ve had for a while and nice and hot even though we were outside.The staff were attentive and friendly and I will definitely return for an evening meal. Lovely countryside village public house which should be visited. X

We attended a family wedding on Saturday 3rd July. It was a brilliant day, everything went off very well. Despite the awful weather late afternoon. Lovely setting in a field at the rear of the pub. Ideal wedding venue. Food suppliers came on site. Excellent bar staff and particular the lovely lady who worked as a favor to the manager Ransford, she worked tirelessly all evening. A good day and night was had by all.

The most excellent venue for an outdoor wedding! The field at the back of this wonderful village pub is an amazing space for events. Ransford, the manager, and All the staff are a wonderful team and extremely friendly and helpful. I love this place, it is a true gem.

First impressions were sorely tainted by rude chap who looked to be manager we’d booked at table online only to be told we couldn’t have because food service was finished! Despite email confirmation. We were happy for a drink anyway because we’d come far but based on the rude and aggressive welcome we might not have not bothered! The young women bar staff managed to redeem it by being friendly and helpful but reputation has been tainted by initial impression, shame because it looked lovely and food looked great. Maybe manager should take a leaf from young waiting staff on customer service skills.

We just visited the Old Crown for my fiances birthday, what poor service.I ordered a chicken, leek and cider pie to be told they have run out and my partner ordered sirlion steak( which was the only steak option on the very limited menu) to be told they had none! We settled for scampi and hunters chicken which were very nice but then ordered our desserts to be told they had no cream. This took around 15 minutes to inform us, So we decided to get the bill and leave. A man who we presume was the manager had an attitude about him making loads of excuses about everywhere had run out because it was Bank Holiday. Not at all impressed so will not be going back there anytime soon.

Arrived at my girlfriends to be told she was whisking me off to the pub for the afternoon , was I dreaming , hell no , we arrived to the glorious sunshine with a fantastic view over Staffordshire , and that was as good as it got , we ordered our drinks in the garden and sat waiting for a whole hour for them to reach us , other tables around us also moaning about the very long wait, one girl running in and out delivering drinks to her tables and clearly working extremely under pressure, unfortunately for us not our table , our waiter seem to be running in porridge and often came from the bar to the area empty handed, at one point he was seen throwing his order pad on the floor and clearly stressed and under pressure.Once our first round arrived on 65 minutes we ordered another within ten minutes in a bid to have them delivered towards the end of the first round , after another hour of no drinks we gave up , Total Time in Garden 3 and a half hours , drinks served just one , cheap afternoon for the girlfriend but a real shame on what could have been a lovely afternoon.More Staff required or a better service system to be put in place , I do feel sorry for the staff at a very difficult time but feel the business should be supporting that and ensuring that great customer experience.

Visited during COVID restrictions being lifted. Sat in the beautiful field in the sunshine. It was mid week and the service in the field was busy. There was one poor staff who worked the whole of the field for 3 hours meaning times between drinks and food was long. No oft blamed the staff though because he was worked off his feet and doing well. The manager who we saw once during our whole stay was rude and short tempered. A stay in a very nice pub with a fabulous garden, only made negative by the poor staffing choices and attitude of a lazy manager.

Looked on their website. It clearly says eat out government scheme participants.I would have settled just for steak night. But they not participating at all not even having steak nights ln fact no food on offer at all!I have been going to the Old Crown Wiggington for a few years Monday steak night Wednesday curry night and Friday was fish night (stopped months ago) l have had a few pointless drives for steak that run out / cancel!ed Fish night permanently cancelled DO YOURSELVES A FAVOR GO ELSEWHERE!!;

We are quite regular visitors to this pub. Very good food and have some great offers on. Will be back again soon.

Another visit to this little Gem. I had the steak Ale and cheese pie with mash and it was the best pie I have ever tasted. Proper pie with proper mash! My husband had the Gammon and Eggs and he really enjoyed it. The service was friendly and quick and the food was well priced, hot and delicious, what more can you want?

The owners are so friendly & cant do enough for you. Always smiling & helpful.Returned the same evening with friends to celebrate a birthday. Food was absolutely delicious, best scampi I've ever had. Two had the burgers & said they were delish. It was very busy but a nice atmosphere & the staff were still smiling.This pub really is going to be our new favourite local. Just fantastic!

We visited a friend last night and the landlady let us park our motor Home overnight in the pub car park. We had a lovely meal, fish and chips and steak with real ale and wine and it was spot on. Great service, really friendly and lovely setting. Thank you!

I called in Tuesday afternoon for a meal after a long shift at work & I was not disappointed. My partner & I both ordered Burgers, one beef & one chicken & chorizo.When the food arrived it was served piping hot & cooked to perfection. I’ve eaten burgers all round the world & this was one of my favorites. The young girl waiting on our table was always smiling and her service was perfect. I complimented the landlady at the bar & told her I will be returning when I’m off work so we can enjoy an alcoholic drink with a meal.

For a family meal on Wednesday 3rd of April at 7pm, we were dissapointed. I wrote to the management immediately afterwards but received no acknowledgement of the issues raised so now feel justified in writing a public report. As there were nine of us, we were required to pre-order but that didn't seem to speed up the delivery on the night. My main course was a bland, undercooked chicken breast with some powder on (cajun?), a few chips and some peas. My wife's 10oz steak comprised a third inedible grissle. Initial contact wrt my wife's gluten free requirement proved positive and Sally was lovely, both during email correspondence and in person. Exterior and interior decor is appealing but, for £50, the experience was poor. It's unlikely that we will ever return and that should be an issue for the management but it doesn't seem to be. Sad really.

This is a lovely little pub with friendly staff. The food was great, nicely presented and good value. 4 main meals, 3 puddings, a bottle of wine and 3 further drinks cost a little over £60. There is a lovely garden area at the back, adjacent to a large car park. It is a pity the weather did not allow sitting outside, but I can imagine in summer it would be great.

What a charming little pub this is..... we usually go to watch the superb firework displays but today enjoyed some wonderful food- couldn’t fault it at all. Staff attentive and extremely welcoming. Has a great vibe, atmosphere, and ambience, the decor is in keeping but with a modern fresh look- great colours! We enjoyed a fantastic lunch earlier today- generous sized portions, fresh and full of flavour. Pudding was yummy too!! Could not fault this place at all. Can’t wait for the summer to enjoy some gin in the beer garden. Thanks Sally and all your staff for a great couple of hours-can’t wait to come back (and already made plans to return!)

I have already reviewed The Old Crown but since then have discovered the fish and chips and have to say they are the best! The cod is lovely and the batter crunches as a good batter should. A friend of mine has Hunter's Chicken and though she is a picky eater she clears her plate each week.

Booked a table for 13 members of our family for my uncles birthday who is 91 at the weekend so it was a special night for him , we all booked a different meal and every meal looked amazing and every one said it tasted lovely . The lady who looked after us was lovely she could not do enough for us .thank you so much we will be returning again.

Visited here last week after learning new people had taken over and the reviews were good. All I can say is, we were disappointed. We ordered drinks and food for 4 and waited. After half an hour the waitress informed us we would have to have a different steak because they’d run put of ribeye. Seriously?? At 7pm on a Friday evening?? Poor ordering. Tbh, I expected it to be nearly cooked by then as the pub only had half a dozen people in it. Eventually our food came 1hour and 5 minutes after ordering. Steak was tough and gristle, and not rare. Chips and peas were dried put from being kept warm. Fish batter was a greasy mess, and the fish was grey and black.

I have been looking for a dog friendly pub for a LONG time. Knowing that having a dog means you have to go sit in the bar I have been searching for one that is bright, clean, welcoming and where horse racing isn't on the TV on a Saturday afternoon. Just as I was about to give up I came across The Old Crown at Wigginton and after our visit my 96 year old friend kept asking when we can go back. The bar is wonderful, clean and tidy, with a log burner and comfy chairs and tables. Spot the clues that dogs are more than welcome. Good choice on the menu and really enjoyed what we had, followed by a delicious coffee. Made very welcome too. Service with a smile.

Recently a member of my family had a meal here. They have been coeliac for over 10 years and after a number of bad experiences is wary of eating out. On making enquiries with the chef (as directed to on the menu) she was met with a rude and dismissive attitude from a chef who failed to understand the difference between a lifestyle choice and an allergy.

Ive been coming to this pub for the best part of 30 years and have recently moved back to Tamworth. I have visited around five times during the past month for evening food and drinks. Up until today the service and food have been fine, if not very overpriced. No doubt this is to pay for the recent beer garden improvements.

9 of us went for dinner to The Crown. The food was excellent and the service was great too. This new landlord has definitely got the food right!

Called in for drinks during a local walk. The manager let us have our snap in the beer garden. There is a bar and lounge with the latter being the largest. I don't live around here but would be happy to return to try the fayre.

This was our first visit to Old Crown and we were not disappointed. Pleasant staff, nice atmosphere, and good food. Just one niggle powdered potatoes were a bit dry, poured my gravy over them prefick!. Will certainly go back. Would recommend.

Para ser justos, mi solomillo estuvo bien, pero de cadera de mi esposa estaba bastante mal. Estábamos cansados después de un día pesado, y Ella sentía que si ella se quejó, su comida sería sustituido y salimos del paso. En cualquier caso, el joven camarero nunca se molestaron en preguntar, así que ella soldiered. Desde el aspecto de la carne el chef nunca debería haber puesto en la parrilla. Siempre es difícil cuando una comida está bien y el otro no. Cuando las placas fueron aclaradas, le preguntó al camarero que decirle al chef que no era. No hubo respuesta, así que dudo que lo intentaremos de nuevo. Es una pena.

Un grupo de 12 reservado el almuerzo. Está situado en un pueblo atractivo. Los propietarios eran muy amables y flexibles. Comimos un agradable almuerzo típico menú grub pub - todo bien y todo el mundo que era feliz. Como íbamos a una recepción por la noche, más tarde nos alojamos en el salón, que tenía un nivel agradable de clientes. Volveríamos de nuevo si se visita la zona.

A veces un lugar sólo se siente derecho. Hay un buen ambiente con gente amable y personal. La música es lo suficientemente fuerte como para oír, pero no interfiere. Asientos confortables y un buen servicio. Las comidas estaban bien, aunque mi carne estaba recargado pero aún agradable. Vino también era bueno en sabor y calidad. Quizás nuestra tacaño ánimo mejorado por la Hendriks g&t; correctamente servidos con pepino. Nos gustó de verdad, y sin duda volveremos.

Would like to say that we had a lovely meal on monday evening grill night for my fathers birthday. There was 12 of us to dine. We ordered and our food came out around 25 mins later which was a good time considering large party and other guests eating too. The quality of food was really good food was well presented and very hot . So well done to all and the waitresses. Will come again . Superb.

We eat here on a regular basis. The weekday lunchtime menu is fantastic value for money. There aren't many places you can get a lovely meal for £4.50! Evenings are quite busy because of the good reputation and offers available. Food is always well presented and hot. Nothing worse than luke warm food. An excellent village pub with a great beer garden and a superb field at the back.

We went to the old crown for a meal when some of my family came over for my birthday. On arrival the pub was crowded in side and out, all tables reserved. We where just about to leave when the landlady found us a table. We did not have a long wait for our meal they where all served together and hot.The beer served was also very good severed by pleasant staff I would recommend this pub to any one

Bad bit first - starter came still frozen in the centre, to be fair this was rectified straight away and 2 free drinks as way of an apology. That's it.Good bits - food was very tasty and fairly quick to come to table, decent menu - enough to make you think but not too much that you can't decide. Nicely decorated, very cosy but not sure if this may be a problem with heat on a hot evening when it's full. Decent selection of drinks to choose from. Staff were friendly and polite. Overall a nice place to eat.

We were visiting the local area and decided to pop in. There was a large menu and a special board and there is also a gluten free menu. The food took a little while to arrive but being homemade I didn't mind the wait. The food arrive the portion size was just right both food was delicious and tasty. Would visit again.

Visited here on a Friday lunch time with my mom. Hadn't been before so wasn't sure what to expect... upon entering it was lovely and clean, clean tables, clean cutlery and clean menus. We were served by a lovely lady who couldn't do enough for us... food arrived in good time... nice and fresh and hot. The only thing that I can say is that the portion size could be a little larger for the price paid (only came with a handful of chips). But otherwise it was great and I shall be visiting again... good quality food in a nice location. Thank you:)

As far as " pub food" goes you can't go wrong. My family and I eat here frequently and enjoy the food and company. Kim and Ian have done a great job in the last 12 months turning the place around. We eat here regularly, and always happy to take friends. My wife and friend had lunch today and enjoyed the homemade soup. (And lasagne) She thought the soup was worth mentioning in view of a previous comment. We suggest you give it another try.

Called in for lunch, three of us. the order comprised 2 small fish and saute potatoes and one vegetable soup.Have never before ever been presented with soup which tasted so disgusting, cannot describe the flavour except to say that whoever concocted this sludge never bothered to taste it before inflicting it on their customers.Saute potatoes were soggy, Fish batter looked overdone probably cooked then reheated so hard and crunchy, fish dried out.This rubbish probably all came out of a freezer and by the way they only serve frozen chips which is often a sign of a lack of commitment to produce quality food.Needless to say that was the first and LAST visit. Pity as the pub is quite pleasant.

I have visited this pub on several occasions and found it to be welcoming, clean and hospitable. There is a pretty outside seating area that is safe and enclosed, if you have 'little' people or pets with you. The outside area looks out on to open fields. I was impressed with there being a separate menu for gluten free and thoroughly enjoyed a sandwich with chips, which I haven't been able to have locally for over a year.

For a nice Country Pub, which we have used for over 40 years, albeit maybe not much in recent times, we had heard that the meals had improved. We duly went to sample it for ourselves. I thought that the prices were on the expensive side for a Country Pub. Also, the staff could have been better attired, When the food arrived, we looked at one another in a manner of disappointment, it was only average. Room for improvement.

I dined here with a group of friends although we had to wait for a member of our party to arrive had a lovely time all the meals came out bang bang one after the other we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful will definitely be going again soon.

Just come back from a Monday night at the Crown and tried the buy one get one free steak night special - 2 Sirloins, chips, tomato and peas £9.65 total - unbeatable value.Minor criticism in that the steak was cooked a little too much for the medium rare we ordered but did not spoil our enjoyment - The Wiggy was our regular local but well worth the extra walk into Wigginton village for a better meal, already picked my next meal from the very extensive menu - Pork belly on apple mash served with black pudding!! cannot wait - highly recommend from this first visit

We went into the Crown on a Saturday tea time there was four adults and one 11 year old, we all had different meals ,each one was very well presented ,and cooked to our liking ,the staff were all very friendly and well trained . We were welcomed on arrival by a gentleman behind the bar I all ways think a good sign .It was very quite for a Saturday teatime but if they continue to serve the food and give the service we received the trade will soon pick up.

Me and partner visited here a few thursday ago to try out the 2 main meals and a bottle of wine for £20. The pub itself is in a beautiful location and the gardens are very desirable. The service is very high here, The landlady is very warming and helpful, makes you feel welcome. The food i would give 8 out 10. I had the BBQ Chicken Melt... The presentation was top notch, however i did find the chicken quite dry, but thats just a minor fault. Partner enjoyed his meal 100%. I would definantly return!

We would like to thank Kim & Ian plus their staff for providing the catering for our son's baptism. There was more than enough food provided for the number of guests attending. We requested options for those who had special dietary requirements & they did a fantastic job, not only just sandwiches but desserts too. We would recommend this service to anyone. We have also had many lunches at the pub & they have always been at the same high standard. They're also always happy to make off menu for my fussy 3year old. Great work. Thanks from the Thomas'
