We had a wonderful experience celebrating a diamond wedding anniversary as a family. Amy, our waitress was efficient, courteous and friendly. We were served promptly and Amy was continually asking if we needed drinks etc My only criticism was the kids menu. Two of our little ones ordered the chicken strips, one came as described but the ather wasnât breaded, just chicken. Sausages werenât offered on the kids menu either so she was disappointed, however it didnât spoil the evening. Thank you

This place has really gone down hill recently, weâve given it a couple of chances now but I think tonight will be the last. Zero atmosphere, only 1 member of staff front of house. No beers or lagers on draft- minimal bottle selection at ÂŁ6.85 for 330ml! Charged ÂŁ2 to âupgrade to chunky chipsâ however, it wasnât an upgrade, it was a swap from skinny fries, on an already pricey âburger mealâ ÂŁ24. Sausage & mash was edible but weird- sausages were spicy, mash was salty. Bill was given to us, then snatched away with no explanation and replaced with another bill. Weird. Such a shame as we used to love coming here!

Okay food but slow service. Wouldnât rush back! We were sat without menus and had to request them twice. We had to request for our plates to be cleared, then asked twice for dessert menus which didnât come so we paid at the bar and left. The front of house staff need serious training, there were plenty of staff hanging about and chatting so they canât even use the excuse of being busy!

Very disappointing dining experience. The service was slow. We waited an hour before our starter was served. The cheese soufflé tasted pleasant enough but could have had the tiniest of garnish at least. It looked plain and bland on the white plate. The meat and potatoes (pale beige) were lukewarm, the vegetables undercooked and the gravy had congealed skin on the top. The waiting staff seemed to be desperate to go home and never once approached us to ask how the meal was. We decided to forego dessert and left hungry. For an historic establishment so beautiful from the outside and an inevitable magnet for tourists, it was an embarassing example of traditional British food. The 2 stars were for the Yorkshire pudding and horseradish sauce. Never again.
