Room is clean and comfortable. The staff are lovely. The beer was very good, as was the wine and the food was also good - as expected from descriptions and well cooked and presented. Towels are not as large as I like and being over a pub is just what one would expect. No complaints but if you want silence and not an interesting High Street then avoid. Otherwise... lovely.

Went to this restaurant for a family meal.waited over an hour for food.unacceptable it as wasn't busy.Five other tables near us had same complaint. Chicken was like a flat piece of rubber in breadcrumbs.expected proper chicken breast. They offered us free sweets.waited 30 mins for those.Staff very rude when we asked how long these would be.Management and Staff needs sorting out if this restaurant is to succeed. We will never go back to this place.

We went in for lunch and started to walk to a room just off the bar as there were no seats n the var only to be told don't go in there, no explanation given just don't go in there. As we were about to leave some people got up so we sat down and started to look at a menu only for someone who came over and said 45 minutes for food and then left. We left.Tip for the staff of the pub - if you are working in a service industry like the pub then customer service is paramount. Please take note.

We hadn't booked a table but they were very accomodating. Basic Pub food, i had the scampi and chips which was very nice. If you are visiting Broadway, this is probably one of the cheapest of places to eat, great food at a decent price. Only gripe we had was there were some children running through the restaurant, but would certainly eat here again.

A character pub set in a Cotswold's Market town. Found staff/owners friendly, but on the day we visited very busy. Beers are well kept and pulled, we had a Sunday dinner in the diner side which had a lot of historic character. Service was a little slow, but then they were very busy. Food was well presented, but would have liked a little more veg, however that might be perceived as being picky! I would come again as its a classic Cotswold's pub that knows its beer.

Went in on a Saturday afternoon about 15:30 to watch a Rugby World Cup semi-final. Asked if we could order a sandwich - "no, we not serving food until 6 o'clock!" Ladies toilets had no soap or warm water. Did have a few beers but partner was driving and wanted a coffee. That request was met with a shrug and "if you really must I'll boil the kettle and make you something." If we hadn't wanted to see the match we would have left to find another venue.

considering the price of most accommodation in Broadway i think we had a good deal @ The Horse and Hounds. We only stayed the one night but we had an enjoyable stay. The room was basic but perfectly adequate with an en suite shower room with nice fluffy white towels. The bed was one of the best my husband had slept in, plenty of storage but no frills/extras. We ate in the restaurant, thankfully we booked as it was busy, we both had an excellent meal opting for the steak accompanied by a sauce and all the trimmings and a nice pudding with good wine. The breakfast was also very good with no complaints. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

We stayed BB at the 'Horse and Hounds' Broadway for 6 nights. We were looking for a place with character for a summer break, and looking on the web we thought we had found it. Yes, from the outside it looked what we wanted, but soon found that it was lacking any atmosphere at all and the decor inside was bland and did nothing to make this old inn welcoming. This old inn has great potential to be a very comfortable and pretty place to stay if only its owners could see that. I must say our bedrooms where clean and the beds made everyday with a change of towels everyday, and breakfast was good - but the inn itself could be so much more with some love and attention.

We sat outside the Horse and Hounds , Broadway, in the car deciding whether to go in. Had set off on spur of the moment wanting a good pub meal quite local to us. Something wholesome and well cooked. Nothing fancy and youd think not a lot to ask. We know beautiful Broadway well, eating across the board in several of the excellent cafes/restaurants/hotels.On this occasion we should have been persuaded by our initial instincts and kept driving. Outside the pub it's shabby. Youre already questioning the 4 star ratings!! Empty old flower baskets. Dirty (and a broken) windows. Could see a large tv screen on one side of the room. It didn't bode well. Texted my daughter to see if she'd ever been in? No answer. inside it just looks unloved. Looks dirty And without care and attention. The building is gorgeous but needs money speending on it - at least some Flash and a cleaning cloth. We were torn between having the homemade burger, or the homemade pie. Both decided on the chicken and leek pie, with farmhouse chips and 'vegetables'. I was drooling in anticipation hoping my initial fears weren't justified. The worst part about your imagination is that it has a mind of its own! We envisaged a deep, crust pie with oozing creamy sauce filling the plate and lovely sides. It was £10.95. What arrived was a sight to be seen! thin strip of puff pastry, not cooked as a pie, but browned after the filling was made. The chicken was very cheap quality. chips were ok but without any flavour - like frozen steak chips, and the veg consisted of a few slices of overcooked carrot and three times obliterated peas. It looked like bad school dinners. The plate was 'dry' so we asked for tomato ketchup (!) And mayonnaise (!!) to liven the whole sorry state up. That arrived after rather an unnecessary wait as no one was rushed off their feet. Quite the opposite. The barman (guess the owner) was involved in a conversation with 2 blokes at the bar, 1 of which used the F word several times. I'd have thought as younger children were present, and myself and my son, the said barman would have been within his right to ask him to mind his language?? Perhaps he didn't even notice! Anyway the miserable plate arrived with little care or courtesy. No one asked us if we were enjoying it nor had we enjoyed it! Good job really!! £10.95 isnt that expensive but....£4.95 would have been a rip off for this rubbish. No wonder pubs continue to go out of business. You simply cannot get away with poor service. Poor food. Dismal interiors. And a lack of interest in your clientele. it's just a total rip off relying on passing tourist trade. Thought wedove on from this mentality. Go in (if rest of Broadway is closed) for a pint and a loo break...then leg it quickly. Save your money. You'd be better finding McDonalds in Evesham! OG AND BY THE WAY ...on leaving, my daaughter finally sent her reply to my text!! Her answer? "Rough!".

May Bank Holiday and Broadway was fully booked. Staying for afew days locally in our naivety we only booked Sunday lunch. Come Saturday night we visited every possible eating establishment starting in Church St then up the High St and we were turned away from every pub and restaurant. It was the same at the Horse & Hounds but after pleading with the landlady she gave us the table of some 'no shows' and the six of us did get a meal instead of going hungry! There was a small menu on that night which we prefer as it usually implies freshly created and cooked food. We had 3 steaks, a meat and a fish pie and a fully loaded 8 inch high burger! All the food was enjoyed and yes we did have to wait for it to be served for sometime but on enquiry the staff were courteous and kept us informed, including a visit from the landlady who told what was going on and when we would be served. She was true to her word and the delay only served to allow further consumption of Old Hookey if I remember correctly. Thanks again to the landlady for fitting us and providing a very pleasant evening.

Shopping with a friend on a drizzly, cold day we were attracted by the appearance of the pub and the log fire we spotted through the window. On entry we were surprised to find it empty. We ordered mulled wine, just the thing on such a day and it was good, not over sweetened as is often the case. Had to ask for menus as, having seen us glance at the menu outside, the barman didnt seem to think we needed to be offered them. We ordered the baked camembert for two starter and some chunky chips. The cheese came with a tiny amount of relish, hardly enough for one. We weren't offered condiments and had to ask for vinegar and a spoon to serve the cheese. I know we we only had a snack but were not asked if everything was ok with our food . It was ok, but overall the casual attitude to service put me off. There are lots of eateries in Broadway so I will choose a different place on my next visit

It was our first trip to Broadway and after having a look around the lovely shops and a stroll in the park with my children I was really taken by it all! The place reminded me a little but like "Stow" which we visit a lot.We eventually worked up an appetite and noticed a lovely looking pub and could smell Sunday roast coming from it although there was no advertising of this on the menu outside (Especially being a Sunday?)Anyway, we decided to go in expecting it to be busy but to our surprise there were only staff at the bar. The waitress at the bar didn't greet us upon arrival and when we asked for a table it was almost too much effort. We were seated on a nice window table although the decor was a bit old/tired and grubby, a bit deceiving seeing as the building looks lovely on the outside. We asked the waitress what roasts were on as there was no Sunday menu to be seen to mine and my families surprise she didn't know and she also didn't know if they could do a child's and if the roast pork came with crackling??!Our meals came out served in a "ready made frozen" giant Yorkshire pudding, swimming in dark think gravy. We will definitely not recommend this pub nor will we visit ever again. It's an absolute shame the landlord/landlady doesn't care about this business as Broadway is such a lovely town.Personally I don't always go by Trip-advisor comments as I'd rather find out what a place is like for myself but honestly this one is a warning to the general public! Avoid.

Sometime ago, I ate the most delicious tomato and basil soup for lunch in the Horse and Hounds and the memory stayed with me. Once again whilst working locally, I decided to call in for lunch and joy of all joys, the tomato and basil soup was on the menu. To go with the soup, rather than bread, I had some delicious fat chips which were hot and crispy down to the last one and the service too was excellent.Perhaps I should have stayed with the memory, but I subsequently returned to the Horse and Hounds with my husband for supper. We were the first people to arrive in the restaurant and requested a table by the window, but we were told by the sweet little blonde waitress that the table was already reserved. So we chose another table further into the restaurant but under a spotlight which we had to move as it was so bright. Some five minutes later another couple arrived, also with no booking and to our surprise, were shown to the table we had initially requested. We ordered our food and then waited some forty five minutes for it to arrive during which time the people behind us talked loudly on mobile telephones. Scampi and chips and re-heated fish pie should surely not have taken that long, especially as the peas were still frozen! We ate our meal, quietly fuming that the couple in our chosen seats were still receiving calls on their mobile telephones and talking loudly with the couple on the next table to them. We finished our main course and decided on some apple pie to share for our pudding and having waited a further fifteen minutes to place the order, my husband eventually went to the bar to place the order. The couple in our chosen seats were, by this time, just finishing their apple pie and cream having taken our menu card and placed their pudding order as soon as they had finished their lamb shank. Whilst we were wondering if we could have done more to help, the little blonde waitress came and sweetly informed us that all the apple pie had now gone. So we paid our bill and rather disappointed we left, £27.00 the poorer! Will we go back? Probably not.

The service was also very good but the experience would be better if the staff were not dressed in jeans. The place itself looked a little tired decoration and furniture wise and gave the impression of a pub that does not care that much about appearances. The prices are therefore a little on the high side because of the down market appearance. As this is in a village that has a high tourist turnover I think they could do better. Perhaps they do not require repeat custom! As a local to the area I will probably not go again until it improves even though the food was very good.

We stopped here for lunch after a long hot walk because they advertised a beer garden, an enticing thought. The beer garden turned out to be a small patch of artificial grass out back in a car park. One umbrella was provided, so we got to sit in the shade. Everyone else had to get sunburnt or move inside.I had a plough mans platter and, if what I got was anything to go by, this is an aspect of Britishn food culture that is dying. A hunk of cheddar, two very small loaves if bread, an egg cup full of piccalilli and one of dry and tired looking beetroot chunks. I asked for and got Branston pickle, also in an egg cup. The salad accompaniment was the usual suspects...tomato, lettuce, onion.PICCALLILI AND CHEESE DO NOT GO TOGETHER.My husband had the beef and ale pie. It was huge and rather stodgy with a gelatinous gravy. Not bad tasting though.I certainly won't go back and won't recommend anyone else to go there either.

The desserts were also delicious and we can recommend the sticky toffee pudding and chocolate fondant (which was amazing). The service was good and the staff were friendly. They also serve the best beer in broadway which is another reason to return. The food is good and less pricey than other establishments in the village. Not sure why the restaurant seems so empty (perhaps because it is at the end of the High street)? Best meal we have had in one of the pubs in the village this year.Had poached haddock with celeriac mash and it was faultless. Better half has has several pies in here and enjoyed this one as well. Not the prettiest of pubs to sit in but well worth a trip for food. Please keep hold of your chef!!

Last minute decision to visit the area, had been years since we used to camp round here. Having had many a good meal at this pub 10 - 15 years ago we looked at the traditional lunch menu and thought we'd go with it. The lady running it was a little officious at times and very pleasant and helpful at others. The food was great with a choice of Pork, Beef or Venison. Can honestly say I am not a Sunday lunch fan and is has been a long time since I have enjoyed one so much.

Loved this pub! Some of the locals were catching the Chelsea/Arsenal football game on TV while enjoying their pints. There were quite a few guests in the pub who brought their well-behaved pups in with them. A couple of them were so quiet, I didn't even realize they were there! My husband and I had a tasty fish & chips meal surrounded by the football fans and dog-lovers. The main pub room filled up just after we got there, but there was additional seating in another room. It was a great place to rest our feet after wandering around Broadway.

We arrived without a booking at 8pm on a wet Saturday night in September having been turned away by all the other hostelries along the High Street where every table was taken, so our expectations were not high. However, we were warmly greeted and had an absolutely excellent competitively-priced pub meal which included a superbly tender and well-presented steak. Unpretentious but very enjoyable.

We ate at the Horse & Hounds last night, I found the staff to be pleasant and service excellent, I ordered the Steak & Ale Pie, when It arrived I was gob smacked, it was a wopper of a pie with a massive pastry top, it was delicious and I could hardly move after polishing it off, wife had the feta & spinach quiche with new potatoes and veg which was also delicious all for £17, lots of other people seemed to be ordering Fajitas and looked equally as happy.H&H was clean, exposed beams and a real Cotswold feel, food & service excellent but you may need to loosen your belt a little

After a long day touring, we arrived in Broadway tired and not wanting to have a sit-down meal, we hoped that one of the restaurants would be willing to do take-out service. We came to Horse & Hounds and approached the bar. There was no one at the bar, except a man sitting on one of the stools playing with his cellphone. I wasn't sure if he worked there or was a customer so I didn't say anything. It turned out he was the manager, but didn't say one word to us or even bother to look in our direction when we came in. For a couple minutes, we were standing there awkwardly wondering if they were still open and taking customers and it sure would have been nice if the manager said something to us. Eventually, a young lady came behind the bar and we asked her if take-out of sandwiches was possible. She wasn't sure and turned to the manager and he indicated that it was okay. We sat down (the place was nearly empty) while we waited and when the food arrived, the young lady asked the manager how much of a discount we should get for take-out and apparently, he said none. This in itself didn't bother me as take-out may be unusual and we were very appreciative that they were willing to do it for us, but I found the manager, who projected a "you're a tourist whom I'll never see again so I don't have to treat you with a modicum of consideration" attitude (or maybe he's that rude to everyone) very off-putting. The sandwich itself was okay, but I won't judge a restaurant's fare on a take-out sandwich. The one positive is that the young lady behind the bar was very sweet and friendly. But because of the manager, I would discourage diners from coming here as they clearly don't appreciate your business.

Went to booked table in afternoon and was warningly greeted. On our return at 8pm again the same warm greeting and table in window had been reserved for us. There were 2 ladies serving us both of whom were exceptionally friendly and very knowledgable about the menu choices. Food was super, we both had steaks could be cut with a spoon they were so tender. Chose the cheese board, which for a country pub was perfect, a cheddar,a blue and a soft french all of which were perfectly ripen. Will be return there on our next visit to Broadway.

We had 2 visits to this pub, the first night we witnessed a couple who were sat on a sofa next to the fire place when water came from the ceiling all over the Lady, they pointed this out to the landlord who simply turned and walked away saying it was one of his guests who could not read the sign and had left the shower door open. He offered no apology or even a towel for her to dry herself off. We went back the next night as we had arranged to meet friends there to watch England play (and loose) Italy. We could not believe that the landlord immediately switched off the TV when the referee blew the final whistle, there were lots of protests from the customers before he switched it back on. He then closed the bar !I found the landlord ignorant and appeared resentful of tourists.Food was OK normal pub standard nothing special. I would eat and drink somewhere else in Broadway

We ate dinner here one night. The food was great with a nice selection on the menu. We did not get to try some of their selections because they had run out of food. We didn't realize we were visiting on a "Bank Holiday", so town was a little busier with people. I would recommend this Resturant again- just try a non-holiday weekend.

We had the most wonderful food in the Horse & Hounds, supported by a rarely to be found, group of passionate staff members.Clearly this is a family run pub, but to see such service was pleasing as was the lighest sticky toffee pudding that I have ever tried. The home made cheese and bacon burger is to die for and at a crazy price, for somewhere that is really a honeypot setting.A chilled out, no nonsense set up with first class food - You will not be disappointed.

This is the last night of a walking holiday in The Cotswolds. My boyfriend and I have stayed in various places which have been lovely and good value. As we are walking, as are most people as this is a walking Mecca, we have appreciated comfortable rooms and early nights. We were disappointed to find a leaking shower with no bath (we had been craving a bath after a painful and long hike!) and were surprised by this as this has been by far the most expensive accommodation we have stayed in. In addition, I am currently trying to sleep ready for tomorrow's walk but can't due to the horrific and extremely loud sound of awful karaoke music directly below my head, reverberating through the floor. We would have appreciated knowing about this at the time of booking or at least at the time of arrival. Maybe we should have checked our room had the desired bath at the time of booking but the high price tag really implied we were getting luxury for the night. And there really is no excuse to not warn guests about the karaoke music that is going to keep them awake. Disappointed and wouldn't recommend.

Staff were cool and not very welcoming but that wasnt the worst part. Saturday lunchtime menu was a bit dull and mixed up ie starting with cod and chips followed by soup and the worst part was there were no descriptions of what the meals were which was to be our downfall. We ordered corned beef hash. This turned out to be a very tomatoey and SPICY bean and veg casserole with corned beef in it. I saw my hubbys face and knew he would hate it (not being keen on veg). I had a winter ploughmans - 4 chunks of bread, a warm camenbert and some chutney. £8.95!! I called the waitress over and said it was horrible and she sent a young man over who said the cheese was expensive. I threw £10 on the bar to cover drinks and refused to pay anymore. Expensive drinks! Would not recommend to anyone.

This little pub is not particularly close to anything - sort of off in the boonies, and the attractive exterior belies the humble interior, but the food was generous and delicious, and our waitress was very nice, especially since we arrived about a half hour before closing. Shepherd pie was fantastic!! And a bowl of soup was huge, more like a platter of soup.

We turned up on spec, and were quickly shown to a table by the very friendly waitress. Our table was positioned near to the open log burner - perfect for a winter's evening. After some deliberation, we both decided to have the Steak and Ale pie - it took a little while (but not too long) to arrive - a good sign that it is freshly cooked. The steak was delicious - very tender, and no sign of any fat or gristle. The pastry top of the pie was literally melt in the mouth - out of this world. Accompanied by a lovely, buttery mash and some fresh veg. After a respectable interlude we were tempted by the dessert board - one Apple + Berry Pie and one Sticky Toffee Pudding. Neither disappointed - a perfect end to the evening. We enjoyed the meal so much that we tried to book a table for the following evening, but unfortunately they were fully booked - I can understand why!

It might have been an off day, or Sunday Lunch doesn't feature very highly in their repetoire.Initially very helpful service, very pleasant behind the bar. When discussing the Sunday lunch menu we asked about having a portion of roast beef pink received the response that it depends on how the chef cooks it but they would get something as near as possible. It was served well overcooked, dry, accompanied with soggy vegetables. Our other meal, the "homemade lasagne" was flavourless and dry, garlic bread tasted barely of garlic and side salad just a few leaves and tomato with no dressing. When the waitress passed by asking the usual question "everything alright?" the meals were returned barely touched with the polite comment that we'd asked for beef as near pink as possible and this was overcooked and dry and the lasagne was also dry and flavourless.. The response from the waitress was " we don't often get food returned but don't mind comment". Next thing a gentleman (in scruffy jeans) appeared, put a tatty bit of scribbled on paper on our table without comment and disappeared. It was our bill......! We took that as a hint that our presence was no longer welcome; no chance of a dessert or coffee or even an apology! We finished our wine and left.It may be that week day lunch and evening meals is their forte and interest. Sunday Lunch certainly isn't.

Called in on the off-chance of a table for Sunday roast yesterday and got what must have been the last reservation as by 1.15 the restaurant was full. Wondered how they would cope with so many people ordering within a few minutes of one another. Drinks came immediately; order taken within five minutes and food on the table 10 minutes later. To be honest we were not expecting great food (not at 8.95 for a full roast beef lunch) but it was very good.Plenty of lean beef with nicely cooked vegetables - garlic parsnips were excellent. The apple and berry crumble was three times the size and twice as good as a recent one at Brasserie Blanc in Oxford. Two roasts, one pudding a coffee and two drinks for 14.00 each was very good value. Nice surroundings and pleasant people. Will certainly return.
