Googled for a local restaurant whilst we were in Telford and this came up. Had good reviews so we tried it yesterday. Great value and lovely food. We had the chicken curry and sausage & mash. Both meals were served hot and they were very filling with very good portions. Two lads were working - both polite and professional. Highly recommended 👏🏻

Visited last night for a “catch up” with a friend, we do tend to book The Pheasant as we know we both enjoy it. I opted (as always) for the warm chicken and Shropshire blue salad, and it never disappoints. Always great service, great food, good times 😁

2 hours for 2 courses. Very busy, VERY noisy. Ordered drinks, took 20 minutes to arrive. Food was OK. I had chicken schnitzel with Caesar salad and grana padana cheese. Chicken was lovely and moist. Caesar salad wasn't a Caesar salad. It was lots and lots and lots of lettuce leaves, some croutons and a sauce. No egg, no anchovy and no dijon mustard. So in essence it was chicken in breadcrumbs on lettuce leaves with a sauce and croutons. Not worth £15.95 even though it was tasty. I did hear some other customers talking about it after they got theirs too. Husband had the steak pie with seasonal veg - looked lovely and he really enjoyed it. During this we ordered more drinks. Then had to ask again because they took so long. Waited ages for someone to come and asked for the dessert menu. She brought the bill. Asked again for the dessert menu and waited........... eventually a chalk board appeared. Eventually the pudding appeared.....Husband had the Eton mess, I had the chocolate brownie ice cream and chocolate sauce. The brownie was very heavy, like a sat on stale chocolate cake. For the first time ever in my adult life I gave most of it to the hubby. It was just too heavy. So £57 for 2 pints, 2 soft drinks and 2 courses. And a headache from the noise. Was very popular with drinkers so I think more of a pub with food than an eatery. Shame - disappointed.

Absolutely loved our visit here last night. My partner and myself ordered the haddock and chips and I can honestly say they were the best we have ever had . Big chunky homemade chips, the batter on the haddock was golden with tartar sauce and peas . My son had the homemade burger and he enjoyed every bit . The staff were very friendly and we really look forward to making it a regular favourite of ours .🥰

Absolutely stunning food. We visited as a family of 4. I ordered the pork chop with lemon and oregano. The chop was huge and beautifully cooked. So tender and flavoursome. The potatoes and green veg were equally as excellent. Reasonably priced for the quality of food. Best food I have eaten for a while. 100% recommend.

I visited The Pheasant last week to see if they served coffee only. To my delight the answer was “yes”. Having looked at the menu, and as it was only 12 noon, I decided to order a bowl of leek and potato soup with granary bread. I have to say that this was delicious and piping hot. The menu was quite extensive and I was amazed at the number of people arriving for a meal. It is obviously a popular venue. When I arrived there were only three cars parked in the extensive car park, but it was a different scene when I vacated - only one parking space available and someone waiting patiently for me to move. Do call in. I am sure you will not be disappointed.

We had been thinking about visiting this pub/restaurant for some time because it looked very welcoming from the outside. We were, however, somewhat disappointed when we got inside as the restaurant part wasn't particularly inviting. We ordered 2 meals from the menu plus a "special" from the board. The food was excellent although the "special" was lacking any olives and the potato salad. This was mentioned but no deduction or apology forthcoming. Furthermore, the bill included a glass of wine that we hadn't ordered. Overall, although the food was good I don't think that we will be returning any time soon.

Complained when paying bill, with service charge added, didn’t see anything regarding this on menu. First impression was how totally inadequate car park was. Pub was very busy and literally unable to park. Seated quickly and drink order taken , drinks delivered quickly. Good menu plenty of choice. 2 of us ordered starters, after 15 minutes advised one of starters not available, alternative offered but declined .. that starter cancelled. Main course arrived 45 minues after seating. All 4 were very good and big. 2nd order for starter did not arrive. Appropriate check back and drinks order taken. Puddings declined. Server pleasant but seemed pressurised . Pub busy and noisy. Disappointing that despite starter issues both were still charged although removed immediately when challenged. Recommend booking a table to avoid disappointment

Having recently moved the Telford area, we have been trying various local eateries, in the hope of finding a reliable, regular place to eat. We thought we'd give the Pheasant a shot, having been recommended by a work colleague.First impressions were ok. It's your typical country pub come restaurant, albeit with a very small bar area. It's a bit dark, and the decor looks cheap and tired, unless glossy white wood-chip is your thing). What wasn't very impressive was the tardiness of the bar staff (one of whom, seemed a little "under the influence" shall we say). It took a while to get attention. One thing we quickly learned about the bar area: try to get a table away from it. It gets very noisy. The place really isn't big enough, so diners have to suffer the noise from those just having a drink (and it was LOUD!). I ordered the fish and chips, which I have to say were very good. Not cheap, but it was nice. The wife's chicken meal was not so good; the vegetables were somewhat overdone, and looked like they had seen better days. I'd expect better for the price. So far, so average. What ruined our meal was overhearing a very rude member of staff having an argument with another, and storming off to the kitchen! I don't know what was going on, but it's really very unprofessional and ruined the atmosphere. Others noticed as well. The waitresses seemed to be quite distressed by it, but nevertheless gave good service. In summary: avoid. We have only been living in the area for 2 months, but can recommend better places (please check my other reviews!).

We've been to this restaurant/pub previously. We arrived and the table we had booked was in an alcove with just about room to walk to our chairs because the people at the other table pulled their chairs in! This alcove was only really suitable for a double table, not two doubles. It took an hour from ordering our main course to it being served and 30 minutes for deserts. The hamburger given to our 9 year old grandson was pathetic (his words) and looked like a slab of mince between two slices of baguette. The adult meals were reasonable but nothing spectacular. There are no facilities for disabled patrons - my wife went to the toilet and one of the two female toilets could not be accessed, too narrow, and the other could but there were no aids adjacent to or over the WC. I would also query whether with the numbers in the premises there would have been easy evacuation in the case of a fire. In general I was very dissappointed with a hostlery that had had a good reputation and as my title suggests it does not in my opinion reach its previous standard

I was really looking forward to a nice roast dinner.. it was early evening, so I didn't expect anything overdone or chewy meats etc... but I do expect my carrots & veg to be cooked!!! They were quite hard to be honest, even almost raw!!!!... phuh... what do customers have to do, just to get a simple roasted dinner that my mum easily accomplishes without a chefs wage!?! She cooks everything to perfection every time... why is it there's always a groan to be had at the local pub where their staff & kitchens are better equipped than my mothers' kitchen??? The roasted potatoes were not the type of potatoes that should be roasted- they were 'mashing potatoes', they were mealy inside, which distinctly tasted wrong. Apart from not quite being nicely roasted... took the crisp and 'aaahhh' value away!!It's not as if it's a cheap meal either, so everything SHOULD be perfect for the prices charged. Another thing : When I set the table at home for dinner, my condiments & cutlery are already on the table. We had to wait for the condiments once we had our meal finally delivered ....oh pleeeaaase!!!! Come on- wakey wakies!!!Don't sit at the table next to the kitchen door either... it's noisy, chilly & you keep getting spied upon! That's 3 times I've had a meal here, each time I feel there are improvements that could be made...I'm not going again to be disappointed! Oh and the prawn cocktail, is a shrimp cocktail - I didn't have it- my friend did, & said it was ridiculous!Good luck with your meal.

We arrived out table was set ready with our bubbles already on the table. We were sat in the corner in the snug. Without any delay a lovely waitress had arrived so pass to us our menus. There was a nice selection, I think something for everyone would be a perfect description. I opted for the 6hr Roast Belly Pork with a mustard mash and cider sauce, my friend had the triple sausage and mash option. The wait was minimal, which gave us time to chat. When the food arrived, it looked and smelt lovely. We were not disappointed. My pork had a perfect crackling and the meat was perfectly juicy and tasty. The mash tasted nice, albeit a little dry for my taste. The sausages were plump, juicy and delicious. We were happy after enjoying our dinner, we ordered a cheese board to share. A nice selection of cheese, chutney, fruit cake and celery. We did ask for extra crackers as there were only 5 provided to eat with 5 different cheeses. However, they were happy to oblige. Again happy with our choice. However, the temperature in the venue was very cold, once we had eaten we had to sit in our coats. We spoke to other client too who had also put their coats on. There are two open fires, none of which were lit. We could only find one radiator that was giving out heat and that didn't have the option to sit by it as it was by the door. We did mention to the staff that it was cold, but apparently we had been sitting in the warmest part of the pub.Would I return, yes definitely, the food and service were very good. However, it will be in the warmer months only. The only reason I have scored the service 3 out of 5 is due to the cold. The waitress and the timing from the kitchen was great.

Have eaten here a couple of times with friends, and dropped in for a drink on a few occasions. The food isn’t too bad but maybe a bit pricey. Not really much of a bar area to speak of, probably room for about a dozen people before it starts feeling too crowded. Difficult to get served when 4 people are sat at the bar and don’t want to move! Most of the staff are fine, but the young, tall chap behind the bar (possibly the bar manager) is a bit surly and off hand.

We had the roast beef one day & came back for the loin of lamb 2 days later. The staff were absolutely brilliant, even though it was stifling hot, there was a wedding party or similar happening, but still, nothing was not too much trouble. The 1 minor criticism, and it is minor, is that the knives are too blunt!! So the lamb was rare, which is not to our choice but that is what the TV chefs tell us we like so it was difficult to cut through it. But the taste was superb. Similarly, with the beef, it was laid on top of the roast potatoes so they were not crispy. Then to follow we had the most gorgeous ice cream we have had in years, made by Bennets. But what a great experience it was. We will definitely be back next time we come to the Telford area.

We arrived without a booking on a Friday night and were seated promptly. The menu lists the local sources of the ingredients, which is lovely to see, and the gammon, veg pie and waffle were all absolutely spot on. We'll be back!

Called in for a drink with our dogs on a busy Saturday evening, due to a cider sampling and afternoon tea on offer.

Went in for a bite to eat while I was passing and had duck breast and it was that good I had to ask for the chefs that cooked it (Declan and Jack) and honestly I'd ask for then to cook me my food every day. Absolutely flawless

Sunday 26th May bank holiday weekend we called late to see if we could book a table and luckily we was able to get straight in with it being a table of 6 I was quite surprised.

We reserved a table for 4 of us to dine at 6pm tonight. We arrived slightly early, to ensure we were on time for our booking. No one greeted us, so we found our table with our reservation written on. So we sat down, and waited, and waited and waited. We were the only people in the pub although there where a couple stood around the bar area,

We booked a table for two at 19.00 on Bank holiday Monday. But on arrival it was clear this is no longer a family pub or indeed a pub to have a relaxing meal in. Drunken youths shouting obscenities and a dreadful atmosphere in the pub. Needless to say we were in the Chinese in Wellington ( Tasty) at 19.30. Great meal, polite service. Good to see that you can still rely on some things.

We are regular visitors to The Pheasant, usually for a drink and occasionally for a meal. The food is always of an excellent quality and there is always a good range of real ales to choose from. There are usually plenty of staff who are always attentive and very friendly. Highly recommended.

Not the cheapest but very nice pub food. Can recommend the beef and ale pie and the pork shops. Everything well cooked, seasoned clearly by someone who knows what they’re doing.

I reviewed the Pheasant almost two years ago and gave three stars. This time I was happy to give five. The starter and main were delicious and there was plenty of it! Well presented and cooked perfectly. We had quite a wait between courses but we were chatting and barely noticed. Staff were pleasant.

Visited with wife and a friend one Tuesday lunchtime. It was rather cold inside, the radiators barely warm, the open fires remained unlit - we had to keep our coats on. Staff very cheerful and friendly, and apologetic about it being cold.

I visited The Pheasant on a Saturday for lunch. We'd reserved a table for midday, at which time it was very quiet, but it did quickly get busy. Service was spot on, with friendly and attentive staff from the minute we walked in. The menu had a lot of choice, and the food was delicious. The portions are large, even with the light bites, so you definitely get value for money. The restaurant itself is nice, if a bit dark away from the windows. There's a nice garden area outside for the nicer weather. I will definitely be returning!

Absolutely lovely Sunday lunch, the roast pork was superb and the crackling was the best ever. Great dessert menu, had to have one and it was delicious. A popular place but lots of car parking, very well organised and the service was excellent.

Just been and had a very enjoyable meal with my partner and my brother. We had starters of bacon and black pudding on bruschetta X 2 and the special of ham hock terrine with ciabatta, all very tasty.

Went for lunch today and had the haddock fish finger sandwich! Unfortunately it was awful! Goujons were nearly burnt the fresh bloomer was toasted and then they put ketchup all over them!! I hate toasted bread and ketchup!!

I have eaten here many times and have rarely been disappointed with the food. I have had a variety of meals including the steak pie, fish and chips, burger and salmon and have been very happy with their quality and price.

Looking for somewhere for Sunday lunch whilst visiting family. Had a look around on Google maps, first place I rang was fully booked so tried here. Got a table booked and must say I'm glad the other place was full!

We're lucky to have this pub close to our house and go as often as we can. We normally go for a meal as well as a drink and recently went to a great gin tasting night with snacks and live music, in fact there's lots of extra events that go on throughout the year. Most of the food is sourced locally and is always cooked freshly (so you may have to wait a little longer but hey - who's in a hurry!) and tastes delicious. Never been disappointed and have been going for years. Service is always good and the staff friendly and helpful. Although we go as a couple or with friends it's also suitable for families as there is a separate children's menu and if you have a smaller appetite then there are light dishes too. Definitely recommend you give it a try.

Consistently good experience. You cant beat a Spoons breakfast - fast and fantastic price.

We go to this venue every Thursday for drinks and always leave before 7pm. The quiz starts at 7pm, so all the tables in the bar are reserved, this is not normally a problem as we have normally left before people start arriving for quiz. This evening however, we were barred from using the bar area and made to sit in the dining area!! We felt uncomfortable in this area as all we wanted was a drink, but everyone around us was eating.

We were there for a conference, decided to eat in the hotel the first evening. I ordered a vegetable curry, I got served a chicken curry!! No real apology just on dear we’ll bring you the correct meal. It didn’t take long and my colleagues hadn’t finished their food but disappointing no one really acknowledged the mistake!
