The best restaurants serving British food in South West

Small hotel bar which didn't really live up to its name in terms of the decoration. Small selection of beer and cider but comfy chairs. Signage for toilets is quite confusing. Some interesting objects on the walls.

the food is hot, filling and arrives very quickly, even when dinning room is full. service is 100% attentive. the range of food is very good

Flat prosecco by the glass but was promptly changed. We ordered a steak and a couple of other dishes. The steak we wanted medium rare, came out as well done and cold. We then had to wait for a replacement which did come out hot and closer to medium. It was very well seasoned and the chicken fajita was good, just already wrapped so not quite what was expected. The service was polite and friendly, just not there for the majority. We were a late table but if the restaurant is unable to provide quality service and food later in the day, perhaps they should shut earlier.

Had the joy of eating here with family twice in the past couple of weeks. The first time was nice, however a little limited on the choices that we liked in the menu. But what we did order was lovely and empty plates all round. The second time we visited we were told it was the first night with their new menu, which was fabulous! Really tasty and varied food. Again really enjoyed by all members of the family. The hotel is a family friendly hotel which caters brilliantly for young kids with a indoor playarea etc, so a little hectic with kids running around enjoying themselves, however the staff are relaxed and attentive so it never felt overwhelming.

What a total load of s**t, My 4th visit in as many days to try and buy a breakfast baguette-never have any baguettes( I mean it’s a bakery for gods sake!) or it’s too late for a breakfast roll because it’s just after 11am. Never going back !!

Always a pleasure to eat here & Sunday lunch is second to none. I had the trio of meats & it did not disappoint- tender & full flavoured Gloucester old spot pork, slow cooked beef & a very nice portion of chicken. As always- Luke and Toni the stars of the show. Great food, great drink & Great service!

Mostly visit for their weekly bike night. Always friendly service & welcome all, especially on two wheels!

Absolutely amazing carvery! Fromebridge Mill itself is stunning, picturesque, very relaxing surroundings. Would definitely recommend 😃

We had beautiful weather, so we sat outside beside the canal and had a wonderful time. The daily fish entree and the pork chop (with duck egg) were delicious. Service at the bar was a little disorganized, but, overall, we recommend The Double Locks very highly.
