Great pub very different in terms of atmosphere, it does indeed have a commercial feel about it, large venue but relatively quiet place to drink, socially it's not a likely venue but more of a gathering space to sit and have a quiet drink.

What you'd expect from a weatherspoons. It's not all singing and dancing but is fantastic value for money (especially at the heart of Bristol), and is more than adequate to congregate at for a social gathering.

Myself and 5 friends visited 23rd of November 24. Some of us had food which was OK. However the place was an absolute a disgrace. Dirty plates were not picked up for hours along with empty glasses. Ended up returning them to the bar ourselves as staff didn't seem that bothered . Only stayed as drink was relatively cheap. Maybe lack of staff, I don't know, but suggest hiring a person ONLY to clear tables etc as it was a tip.

Originally an early 19th century private club, The Commercial Rooms is probably Bristol’s finest pub. Behind the gracious portico, there’s a spectacular main room and a smaller one behind. A great place to enjoy a pint and fish and chips. There’s plenty of interesting historic detail to admire. And they get an extra gold star for no recorded music. Well done Wetherspoons.

Was in here on Monday afternoon for a pint before our bus to the airport and I waited 15 minutes at the bar while the staff ignored me and just continued talking amongst themselves and to a guy at the bar who seemed to work there but was on his day off from the looks of it. Absolutely abysmal service, left without getting a drink and went next door to Flight Club instead. Every table was full of empty glasses and absolutely filthy as well. I know Wetherspoons pubs are fairly bare bones, and Monday staff probably aren't the A team, but this absolutely took the piss altogether. As a bartender for 15 years, I'd be absolutely mortified to say I worked there. Avoid at all costs. Also, a customer had a legitimate complaint about his pint while I was standing waiting, and the staff made comments about him within earshot as they remedied the issue.

The young lady while serving people that were before me looked at me three or four times and then ignored me to serve someone that came to the bar after me. And the young gentleman that was also behind the bar was more concerned with doing anything and everything that was available to do apart from serve. If I could give a minus score I would. Not my favourite spoons in Bristol but does the job. Id definitely recommend ordering at the bar over the app as if it's semi busy you'll be waiting a long time for your drinks with the food arriving first in some occasions. The atmosphere was good on the day and the service was alright, the only thing holding it back when I went was the food wasn't particularly great but for the price I paid (7ish quid for a panni, chips and a pint) you can't expect mitchellin star quality food.

A large Wetherspoon pub in the old city centre, often packed, but not on the Sunday night we attended. It shared what seems to be becoming a common trait of the chain - insufficient staff - so longer waits to be served. There's the typical trek and climb to reasonably clean bogs. A typical Wetherspoon experience - let's face it, we only go because of the prices, not because we seek a memorable night out.

Went for breakfast at The Commercial Rooms while visiting Bristol. It’s a Wetherspoons and it’s very much a case of deja-vu whenever you enter the premises of one of the chain. Bar, tables dotted around the building in various states of cleanliness, ten mile hike to the toilet and the usual suspects on the menu. It’s a stunning building and a nice setting to enjoy your visit. Our food soon arrived, served by a member of staff who seemed reasonably cheerful, though I suspect the rigours of standing by a microwave had possibly taken the edge off his chirpiness. Two traditional breakfasts sat on our table and awaited our scrutiny, and our knives and forks. The bacon was lukewarm, as ever. The sausage was cooked quite nicely, whatever ratio of pork to gristle within them was hot and pleasing. The poached eggs had been poached for about half an hour, they were so solid they were almost dangerous. Toast is difficult to get wrong, and this was on the brink. Warm, white, and barely toasted. Just tanned enough to be considered as toast. It mattered not, however. The butter was harder than a lion with an AK-47 and tore through the bread with ease. All in all, the pub is an impressive building, the food was adequate and we’d go back with no expectations of the place being anything other than an average Wetherspoons pub
